Chapter 66: Desperate Situation

King Kong was truly furious, and with a powerful heave, he flipped over the wild boar, which was as large as an armored vehicle. First, he had been harassed by two cows, and now a pig was stepping on him, sniffing him incessantly. He was absolutely fuming, and he pinned the massive wild boar down tightly.

"What are you doing, bullying a pig?" a very peculiar voice rang out. It was quite improper and sounded off no matter how he heard it.

King Kong was annoyed; even when subduing a mere pig, someone was gossiping and making such unpleasant remarks.

With a menacing aura, he turned to look, his nose nearly twisting in anger. It was just a bird, completely green, standing there and mocking him.

It appeared to be a parrot, mutated after consuming some mysterious fruit. It was now squinting at King Kong, asking, "What's the matter, acting like a hooligan?"

That behavior enraged King Kong, making him wish he could strangle the bird instantly.

King Kong picked up a rock and hurled it into the air.

The green parrot, startled, quickly flapped its wings and flew high into the sky. Its voice was very loud as it squawked, "Someone's acting like a hooligan, bullying a pig!"

King Kong's face was flushed, and his hair stood on end. Fortunately, no one nearby was looking their way; they were all engaged in fierce combat with mutated beasts.

However, a few people carrying photographic equipment dashed past from a short distance away, hurrying recklessly through the mountainous terrain.

King Kong glanced at them a few times, found nothing unusual, and let out a long breath. He then leaped into the air like a fierce beast, forming a fist and striking towards the parrot.

"He's killing a bird to silence it!" the green parrot shrieked, flapping its wings and disappearing into the mountain forest, never daring to show its head again.

King Kong's face was as dark as a pot's bottom, seething with suppressed rage.

Roar!

The massive wild boar had already righted itself, its nose snorting white smoke. It was a leader among the mutated beasts, possessing immense strength, and it was furious that it had been so carelessly knocked down.

Boom!

Enraged, it charged, its meter-long tusks, like two gleaming long blades, pointing directly at King Kong.

This wild boar, as large as an armored vehicle, caused the ground to tremble when it moved. Many evolved humans nearby blanched in terror and scattered to avoid it.

King Kong, imbued with killing intent, met its charge head-on!

Bang, bang, bang!

Intense collision sounds reverberated across the mountain. The man and the beast, like two monsters, fought until rocks shattered and large trees snapped, creating a truly terrifying spectacle.

The massive wild boar was incredibly fierce, snorting white smoke from its nostrils, its tusks razor-sharp. Yet, King Kong managed to block several of its powerful charges.

Thud!

An armored vehicle that had been firing was rammed head-on by the boar. With a thunderous crash, it was torn into two halves, chilling everyone to the bone.

The massive wild boar went berserk; at least a dozen evolved humans perished under its tusks during this rampage, a truly boundless horror.

At that moment, an evolved human was still impaled on its meter-long tusks, his body pierced through the chest, bloody and terrifying to behold.

"You're asking for death!"

King Kong was enraged. He retrieved his lost Buddhist Saber and, filled with boundless killing intent, charged towards the massive wild boar, vowing to slay the beast.

While his fist strikes were powerful, the massive wild boar's thick hide and immense strength made it difficult to kill. King Kong then wielded his Buddhist Saber, which gleamed with brilliant light, illuminating the mountain forest.

Sand and stones flew, and the massive wild boar roared, growing even more ferocious.

Thwack!

Finally, King Kong succeeded. He leaped up, and his Buddhist Saber sliced into its neck. A huge head flew into the air, followed by a torrent of blood.

The wild boar leader was dead, its headless body collapsing to the ground.

This outcome affected the surrounding mutated beasts, causing commotion and unease. The death of a powerful leader made them restless.

The morale of the evolved humans surged, their confidence renewed, and they followed King Kong, pushing forward together.

"Kill!"

King Kong roared, charging into the throng of mutated beasts. Wielding his Buddhist Saber, he unleashed a fierce assault.

Thwack, thwack, thwack...

Blood splattered as he fought with unparalleled bravery, sweeping through the beasts. In an instant, he had slain five or six mutated creatures.

However, trouble descended. A massive green snake, as thick as a bucket, appeared, moving with the wind. All the vegetation in its path snapped and broke.

Wherever it passed, many evolved humans were strangled, meeting gruesome ends. If it coiled around someone, their bones would shatter; its constricting power was immense.

Not just humans, even giant elephants could be easily crushed to death by it.

Clang!

King Kong clashed with it, leaving several wounds on its body and causing snake blood to splatter. However, he couldn't sever its massive form, and instead, he himself took a powerful blow.

If his body hadn't been incredibly resilient, he would certainly have died. Not long ago, this very green snake had even managed to shatter a helicopter with a single strike.

The two intertwined, locked in a fierce struggle.

On the other side, the Silver-winged Deity also moved. Though wounded, his combat power remained terrifying. With a spread of his wings, which moved like an indestructible divine blade, he sliced several mutated beasts in half, one after another.

Blood stained the mountain forest crimson.

The evolved humans' morale surged, their battle cries shaking the heavens as they fought to break out of White Serpent Ridge.

However, the Silver-winged Deity soon ran into trouble. A monkey, seemingly just over a meter tall but with glowing golden fur that was impenetrable to blades, charged at him.

His silver wings clashed with the monkey's claws, sending sparks flying, yet he couldn't cut through its defenses.

The monkey's speed was especially astounding; it moved with a whooshing sound, like a golden bolt of lightning.

The Silver-winged Deity became entangled with it. Eventually, his shoulder was caught by the monkey's claws, causing blood to gush out and inflicting a severe wound. However, he seized this chance to slash the golden monkey's throat.

Thud!

The monkey fell dead into a pool of blood.

The Silver-winged Deity staggered backward, clearly not as formidable as before; he was quite heavily wounded.

The progress of the evolved humans was hindered. The ferocious beasts were too brutal; while six or seven of their leaders couldn't match King Kong or the Silver-winged Deity in individual strength, they compensated with sheer numbers.

Chu Feng was also fighting. He wasn't shooting arrows indiscriminately but was targeting the leaders of the mutated beasts. These creatures posed too great a threat, and eliminating them was the most effective strategy.

"Whoosh!"

He targeted the green snake that was entangled with King Kong. Drawing his large bow, he released an arrow. The thunderous sound and arcs of electricity filled the air, creating an impressive display.

The massive green snake was incredibly agile. With a swift movement, it dodged its head, narrowly escaping the fatal blow. However, it couldn't evade the second arrow, which pierced through its body with a thud, exploding into a bloody hole.

"Good!" King Kong roared, leaping up suddenly and bringing his saber down. The great snake thrashed, and with a wet thud, a significant portion of its body was severed.

It hissed, creating a whirlwind as it lunged into the distance. Despite such severe injuries and a severed body part, it still managed to escape.

This was a major blow to the beast horde. Their strongest leader had been wounded and fled, causing them to panic slightly.

"Roar!"

However, several other leaders remained, roaring to steady their ranks and continue the fierce assault.

While the evolved humans outnumbered the mutated beasts of the Taihang Mountains, their individual combat power was inferior. Often, several evolved humans combined couldn't even kill one mutated beast.

It was common to see a berserk mutated beast tear apart six or seven evolved humans, leaving the ground awash with blood.

This was primarily because the mutated beasts possessed an inherent wildness, having originally lived in the harsh conditions of the mountains and adapted to the law of the jungle even before their mutations.

Evolved humans, on the other hand, had evolved from ordinary people and had never witnessed such bloody scenes. They had lived comfortable lives, and even with their current powerful abilities, they lacked the necessary ruthlessness in true combat.

Despite their numbers, the evolved humans were at a disadvantage, and their losses continued to mount.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh...

Chu Feng continuously drew his bow, almost killing one beast with each arrow, slaying one mutated creature after another in bloody fashion.

Unable to locate any more mutated beast leaders, he began targeting other mutated creatures.

Over a dozen mutated beasts quickly perished, immediately relieving significant pressure on the nearby evolved humans.

Suddenly, Chu Feng felt a sharp pain in the back of his head, his senses screaming a warning. He lunged forward, and a silver light streaked past, grazing his head. With a loud thud, a large tree in the distance snapped in half.

It was a woodpecker, only about a foot long, but its entire body gleamed silver as if cast from metal, and its beak was indestructible.

It had just narrowly missed piercing the back of Chu Feng's head!

This was also a leader; though small, it was incredibly strong. Earlier, it had destroyed a helicopter, as even steel couldn't withstand its attacks.

"I'll cover you; shoot it down!"

A woman in white clothes and pants appeared, bearing a pair of glowing wings that emitted a snowy white radiance. She was utterly pristine, and a faint smile made her appear incredibly sweet.

"White Tiger..." Jiang Luoshen also appeared, looking surprised.

Chu Feng was astonished. The woman who had been ambushed by the yellow ox and later ate his lamb skewers was actually the rumored White Tiger?

With a charming smile, Jiang Luoshen said, "Lu Shiyun, White Tiger's sister?"

Clearly, she was intentionally pausing for dramatic effect, teasing them.

Chu Feng was relieved; a beautiful woman with snowy white wings couldn't possibly be the White Tiger.

But her name is Lu Shiyun?

Chu Feng understood. The woman in white had not told him her real name earlier, perhaps because her identity was sensitive and she was unwilling to reveal it to strangers.

Without wasting time, he continued to draw his bow, slaying mutated beasts and pushing forward.

With Lu Shiyun defending beside him, he felt much more at ease.

The woodpecker was very cautious and did not attack again.

"Lu Shiyun, what backup plan do you have? Don't hold back; let's join forces and fight our way out," Jiang Luoshen said.

She was shrewd, knowing that White Tiger had a past conflict with Divine Biological. Yet, his sister dared to appear with only a small group, indicating she must have some hidden advantage.

"It's no use; it can't handle that white snake!" Lu Shiyun shook her head, her light wings shedding snowy white radiance. She looked youthful and vibrant.

She could fly, which naturally gave her an advantage, but many mutated birds were circling overhead. Anyone who dared to ascend high would face a fierce assault.

That's why she sought out Chu Feng, hoping to use his archery skills to take down those mutated birds.

"Then there's nothing else for it; we can only group together and charge forward. Let's hope that massive white snake doesn't return so quickly," Jiang Luoshen said.

At this point, the evolved humans were fighting desperately, combining their strength to push forward, hoping to escape before the white snake returned.

Rumble!

Then, a terrible thing happened: the white snake returned. Its body, tens of meters long, hovered in mid-air, coldly gazing down at everyone!

"It's over!"

Everyone's faces turned pale as they felt trapped in a hopeless situation, unable to escape alive.
