Chapter 1311: The Feeder Hunts Samsara

The scream was so piercing; it felt like a cold wind was blowing directly at them, blood-red rain poured down, and darkness enveloped the sky. This creature, even before appearing, caused an extreme sense of unease.

What kind of creature was the Forager?

Although he had long heard rumors, Chu Feng had never actually seen one. He had only heard that it was exceptionally eerie; where it went, not a blade of grass grew, and the ground would even sink dozens of feet deep.

When it appeared nearby, the stronger the evolver, the more likely they were to suffer mishaps.

According to records, some Heavenly Venerates, upon hearing the piercing cry, would collapse to the ground, their soul light turning to ash. Upon investigation, people would find a tiny blood-hole on their skull or forehead, while their brain matter had completely vanished.

Some ancient texts also recorded that some Heavenly Venerates, after collapsing, appeared externally unharmed, but their bone marrow had entirely disappeared, which was extremely unsettling.

Not just Heavenly Venerates, if there were mighty beings nearby, they would also face calamity.

Its prey were at least Heavenly Venerates, with no known upper limit!

Weaker creatures, those below the Heavenly Venerate rank, it simply disdained.

All victims died in a horrific state: their soul blood dried up, their bodies shriveled and withered, shrinking significantly in size.

Furthermore, the victims' pupils were wide open, as if they had seen something utterly unbelievable just before dying, filled with disbelief and boundless terror.

Unfortunately, very few ever saw the "Forager." Those who did encounter it almost certainly perished.

Records of its true form in ancient texts were scarce and inconsistent.

Some claimed it was an evil spirit that had escaped reincarnation, specifically preying on Heavenly Venerates with abundant yang energy and vigorous blood essence.

Even powerful beings, if their bodies weren't withered or overly decayed, could easily become its target.

Others suggested that the so-called Forager was a great evil spirit that emerged from the Heavenly Waterfall. It was incompatible with this world, unable to adapt to the rules of the Yang Realm. Therefore, it hunted the powerful beings of this realm, stealing their essence and absorbing their Dao fruits.

Still others claimed the so-called Forager was, in fact, a native creature of the Yang Realm, once renowned throughout history, leaving an indelible mark on the annals of evolution.

These individuals lived in an age so ancient that long ago, even in prehistoric times, they were compelled to bury themselves within renowned mountains and great rivers, absorbing the vitality of the earth's ley lines to reduce their own consumption and ensure their survival.

Then, at a certain point, they could no longer endure, and emerged to forage!

Consider how terrifying the renowned mountains and great rivers of the Yang Realm were; most sects and factions rarely managed to approach or lay claim to them. They typically concealed living beings of extreme horror.

Some speculated that they even included ancient monsters not belonging to this epoch!

Of course, there were also entirely different conjectures, suggesting the Forager was not a living creature at all, but a special substance.

For example, some powerful individuals speculated it was an extremely eerie and terrifying gray substance.

Other ancient monsters believed it was the reappearance of the dark matter capable of entombing emperors.

Still others claimed the Forager was, in essence, an extension of the Great Dao's rules. Tainted by aberrant blood, it manifested a tangible form to execute a harvesting mission.

"Senior Qi, what's wrong? Are you alright?" Chu Feng quickly went over and helped Heavenly Venerate Qi Rong to his feet.

Qi Rong's body was cold and stiff; he could barely move. He had genuinely feared that if he collapsed, he would miserably depart this world.

He slowly regained his composure, letting out a long breath. He was unharmed; this time, he had not become the so-called Forager's prey.

Chu Feng left him and hurried back to the main tent, slightly uneasy about Yu Shang.

Fortunately, nothing bad had happened. Yu Shang was simply staring blankly at the Bloodline Fruit.

"Senior," Chu Feng urged, "Don't overthink it, consume it quickly." He hoped Yu Shang would endure and live to see the day Yaoyao reappeared.

Then, he ran out again to assess the situation.

As expected, something had happened. Cries and gasps of alarm echoed from afar.

It wasn't the Yong Province encampment, but the Zhan Province camp, where a Heavenly Venerate had died a horrific death.

According to the returned reports, the person's bone marrow had vanished, and their body was covered in black fur, their features distorted, and their eyes wide open in death.

Their body had shrunk to less than three feet tall, and in death, they resembled a terrifying specter, utterly grotesque.

In addition, a Reincarnation Hunter had unexpectedly perished, plummeting from mid-air with its brain devoured.

This caused immense shock and panic. The fact that someone dared to attack a Reincarnation Hunter was terrifying; even a slight misstep could trigger catastrophic consequences.

Unfortunately, the body was within the Zhan Province encampment, preventing Chu Feng from examining it firsthand.

Someone described the deceased Reincarnation Hunter as having a fox face, an eagle's beak, a human body, and a pair of fleshy wings. Although less than half the height of a human, its evolutionary stage was extremely high.

Its eyes were hollow, its brain consumed by the Forager!

This sparked a massive storm, leading to a group of over a dozen Reincarnation Hunters appearing nearby!

They acted in concert, frantically searching for the culprit.

This group of hunters was incredibly powerful; the aura they emanated made many feel as if their skin were being cut by knives. The entire battlefield trembled, and the sky roared as if about to shatter.

These were formidable powerhouses!

"Aooo!"

Suddenly, a terrible, drawn-out wail echoed—it was the Forager howling, appearing once more.

In that instant, a Heavenly Venerate died tragically on the spot, their eyes vacant, falling backward as their soul light instantly incinerated, perishing in a bizarre and miserable manner.

"Aooo!"

The Forager howled again, truly terrifying; it sent shivers down the spines of the evolvers from both the Yong Province and He Province encampments, making them tremble uncontrollably.

"Run!" many shrieked in terror from the Zhan Province camp, fleeing in a frenzy. Because in that brief moment, yet another Heavenly Venerate collapsed, their bone marrow completely consumed.

What kind of creature was the Forager?

Its piercing howls filled the air as dense, eerie mist engulfed the dozen or so Reincarnation Hunters rapidly diving toward it.

On the battlefield, everyone was terrified; though they couldn't see it, they all sensed its close proximity.

A gruesome shriek rang out, and a creature over a dozen zhang tall plummeted to the ground, its face covered in red fur and a bloody hole in its forehead—another Reincarnation Hunter had met a tragic end here.

"Creatures that challenge reincarnation have never succeeded; all who have tried have perished!"

The Reincarnation Hunters were enraged; they had never encountered such a situation. A creature was specifically hunting them; this was a rare provocation, an outright defiance of reincarnation!

The Reincarnation Hunter speaking was a colossal snake, its body entirely covered in red scales. One half of its body was wreathed in black flames, while the other was entwined with blue ice crystals, embodying both extreme heat and extreme cold.

Someone recognized it as a legendary creature, long extinct in the Yang Realm. Yet it had appeared today, reborn as a Reincarnation Hunter.

This raised suspicions: was this organization not based in the Yang Realm, but elsewhere, only descending today, thus allowing such a creature to be seen again?

"The Yin-Yang Great Serpent!" Even Heavenly Venerates gasped in disbelief, for this clan had produced peerless overlords in prehistoric times, whose strength was truly astounding.

This creature embodied both extreme yin and extreme yang. Some of its most exceptional members cultivated unparalleled Dao fruits, leading to the creation of a forbidden zone in the Yang Realm by this very clan.

However, that forbidden zone was eventually annihilated, causing the disappearance of this clan.

A sudden, sharp cry rang out, signaling the Forager's renewed approach!

"Show yourself!" the Yin-Yang Great Serpent roared, its body turning crimson, scales bristling. After coiling itself into a serpentine mountain, it unleashed its spiritual energy to search its surroundings.

However, in the next moment, a terrifying sound emerged, and its companion collapsed, shriveled and significantly shrunken.

"You are..." the Yin-Yang Great Serpent's voice trembled. Within the gray mist, it seemed to glimpse a horrific silhouette, causing it to visibly shiver.

It was well known that it was the deputy leader of this group of hunters, almost transcending the Heavenly Venerate realm, yet it was paralyzed with fear.

"How is this possible... A legend reborn? I've seen it in ancient carvings!" Its voice trembled as it roared.

No one knew what kind of creature it had encountered to be so terrified; all were profoundly shocked. The eerie mist surged, and a piercing cry erupted from within.

The Yin-Yang Great Serpent was naturally endowed with Yin-Yang Eyes, capable of seeing through all things. Therefore, it perceived something, witnessed a profound mystery, and was struggling intensely.

As beams of yin-yang light converged, it unleashed its most powerful strike. However, just as the order runes flew from its eyes, it collapsed, blood gushing from its forehead.

Its blood essence dried up, numerous black hairs sprouted from the crevices between its scales, and its body shrank to less than one-tenth of its original size, leading to its instant, tragic death.

The eerie mist in that area dispersed, revealing the horrific death of the Yin-Yang Great Serpent. Everyone was stunned; in just a single encounter, it had become the Forager's sustenance.

This was utterly shocking; what on earth was that thing?

Clearly, the Yin-Yang Great Serpent had seemingly made a discovery, otherwise it wouldn't have uttered such words before its death. But what exactly was it trying to reveal?

The Forager's piercing cries rang out again, as if a malevolent ghost from a billion years past had emerged, slaughtering all creatures in the underworld, breaking free, and arriving in the Yang Realm!

"Aooo..."

Its voice was utterly terrifying; cold winds howled, and dense mist surged forth, instantly engulfing all three battlefields.

The Forager's presence made everyone's skin crawl!

"Pfft!"

"Pfft!"

In quick succession, several more Reincarnation Hunters collapsed to the ground, lying dead on their backs, their eyes wide open, all abruptly struck down within the eerie mist.

This chilled everyone to the bone, filling them with immense fear and dread.

These were Reincarnation Hunters; for millions of years, who dared to provoke them? They were always the ones seeking trouble, yet today they were repeatedly killed.

Behind them lay Reincarnation itself. A confrontation at this level was inconceivable, involving heaven and earth, and affecting countless myriad worlds.

Yet, such an event was unfolding today. While the Forager's past appearances had certainly led to shocking tragedies, none had been as terrifying as this.

Was it possible the Forager had simply never encountered Reincarnation Hunters before, which was why they had previously coexisted peacefully?

The evolvers from the Zhan Province encampment scattered in frantic escape, terrified of becoming blood sacrifices. When even Heavenly Venerates perished miserably and the reputation of the Reincarnation Hunters offered no protection, how could people not be in a state of panic?

Many realized they had severely underestimated the Forager in the past.

Was this a species, or had it, throughout history, always been a single entity foraging and wandering in solitude?

From the Yin-Yang Great Serpent's dying words, it could be inferred that the Forager possessed an immeasurable and terrifying origin, having once been a fearsome legend depicted on ancient stone carvings from an unknown epoch.

In the end, the Reincarnation Hunters fled, the few survivors making a desperate escape, vanishing without a trace.

However, many felt that a major crisis was brewing, that an immense storm was imminent, and that the power of Reincarnation would manifest, causing the entire Yang Realm to quake.

A piercing cry erupted within the Yong Province encampment, accompanied by surging gray mist.

Heavenly Venerate Qi Rong's body trembled; he found himself unable to move. Then, his vision blurred, he suddenly lost consciousness, and collapsed.

Chu Feng's heart pounded. He realized something terrible was happening: the Forager had appeared, and it was nearby. Was it specifically targeting beings of the Heavenly Venerate rank or higher?

Was Heavenly Venerate Qi Rong dead or alive? Chu Feng didn't know. However, he himself was still relatively unharmed, despite his body aching as if torn apart and his soul light feeling ready to explode; he had, after all, not sustained a fatal blow.

The eerie mist blanketed the sky, surging toward their location.

Chu Feng's hair stood on end; he was on the verge of deploying the Reincarnation Earth and his chopstick-sized black wooden spear for defense!

He couldn't retreat, as Yu Shang's tent was directly behind him, and he was deeply worried about Yu Shang.

In fact, he couldn't leave anyway; he was certainly no match for the Forager's speed. The depth of its cultivation was unimaginable, as it had already decimated a group of Reincarnation Hunters.

It was drawing near!

Chu Feng's hair bristled. He distinctly felt something drawing closer within the dense mist, almost right before him. He could even sense it opening its mouth, exhaling a chilling breath directly at him.

An ancient, fragmented language drifted toward him, like a lost soul murmuring in a dream, accompanied by endless gray, eerie mist that spread throughout the air.

Chu Feng didn't understand it. What era did that language belong to? And why did it sound somewhat similar to Number Nine's language?

Chu Feng's body tensed. He carefully sensed the strange and terrifying spiritual fluctuations emanating from the entity, and to his surprise, he perceived a form of spiritual language within them.

"Three lives... medicine..."

It sounded like a soul-summoning chant, or perhaps an echoing obsession—utterly terrifying, carrying an boundless, chilling aura, as if emanating from the deepest abyss of the underworld, sending shivers down one's spine.

"Three lives... medicine..."
