Chapter 1063: Not Part of an Ancient History

Two sinister, malevolent, and unusual creatures descended from the sky. Their cries in mid-air instantly darkened Chu Feng's soul, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.

What was this? Were these the so-called Reincarnation Hunters?

In an instant, Chu Feng's body tensed, his cells seemingly solidifying into a steel plate. He found it unbelievable.

A single cry had actually turned his vibrant soul light pitch black in an instant. Although it immediately returned to normal, it still left him deeply shaken and with lingering palpitations.

What was going on?

"He didn't fall. He's not a reincarnator," a hoarse, old voice with a metallic tremor, like two iron plates rubbing together, echoed from mid-air.

This cry was specifically aimed at reincarnators? Chu Feng was surprised. For some unknown reason, he had resisted it without harm.

The two creatures slowly descended. Their appearances were different and quite bizarre.

What was particularly striking was their diminutive size, completely insignificant compared to the terrifying figures he had imagined.

One creature was over three feet tall. Its body resembled a desiccated gecko, with dull, grayish skin, while its head was an aged human one.

From head to tail, it was dark and lusterless, and emaciated, devoid of any imposing presence.

But it was dangerous, terrifying to behold. Chu Feng sensed an aura of reincarnation, similar to a pervasive energy on the Path of Reincarnation.

The other creature was only a little over two feet long. It was a black fox, but its mouth was shaped like an eagle's beak, with a hooked, blood-red bill that sharply contrasted with its black body.

Furthermore, it had a vertical eye on its forehead, dim and lusterless. Overall, it was a three-eyed, eagle-beaked black fox!

The common features of both creatures were their withered and stunted appearance, skin stretched tightly over bones, and sunken eye sockets, making them look on the verge of decay.

After landing on the small hill, one creature said nothing and immediately entered the temple to search. Was it targeting the young lady whom Holly followed?

Chu Feng was convinced these two creatures were connected to reincarnation, reminding him of certain beings and the aura of a particular weapon. They were too similar.

However, these two creatures were exceptionally terrifying and deeply unsettling!

Similarly skin-and-bones, appearing almost rotten, even decayed, but what he had seen before were humanoid figures, while these two were monstrous forms.

"Soldiers in ragged armor on the Path of Reincarnation!"

A storm raged within him as many thoughts surged forth.

Those soldiers all carried standard weapons—Reincarnation Blades. Each was like a living dead person, their bodies decayed, existing for an unknown span of time—perhaps millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of years, perhaps not even belonging to this ancient history!

They guarded the Path of Reincarnation, mechanically maintaining order, while their own souls seemed to have died long ago.

Chu Feng was startled and horrified. This was the aura of creatures from the Path of Reincarnation. How had it spread to the Yang Realm?

So much time had passed that he had gradually forgotten about the creatures on the Path of Reincarnation. Now, seeing these hunters, he recalled those memories, finding it inconceivable.

Whether it was Stone Fox Heavenly Venerate, its master—a great being from the Yang Realm—the Nine Netherworld Ghoul, or even the terrifying being from prehistoric times who unified one-twentieth of the Yang Realm's territory, all had consistently said that the waters of the Path of Reincarnation ran too deep!

Previously, Chu Feng had only listened, and though touched by the information, he hadn't had much direct experience. Now, he profoundly understood.

The orchestrators of the Path of Reincarnation had long extended their reach into the Yang Realm. Were these so-called Reincarnation Hunters serving them?

This was truly terrifying!

Earlier, he had believed the land of reincarnation was isolated, never linking it to other places or specific periods in time.

But now, it was clear. How could it be isolated? It had close ties with the Yang Realm and other places, coexisting with time for a very long period, its origin unknown.

From the Lesser Yin Realm to the Yang Realm, and even to the Greater Yin Realm, the land of reincarnation might be involved.

From the Nine Netherworld Ghoul era of prehistoric times to the present day, reincarnation had always existed.

All of this was indivisible, not existing in isolation!

For a moment, Chu Feng felt a chill, followed by a bone-chilling cold. The layers involved and the creatures behind it all were simply too terrifying.

Who were these people? What kind of creatures could live for such an immense period, controlling everything? However, among all known races and evolutionaries in the world, such beings shouldn't exist.

From ancient times to the present, no one could truly be immortal. In the end, all must return to dust and eventually decay.

Some creatures and ultimate evolutionaries lived for vast stretches of time. This was because they lay dormant, nourishing themselves with the geography of mountains and rivers, usually in a state of slumber, minimizing consumption as much as possible. This made them seem terrifyingly long-lived, but in the end, they too would die.

It was said that the reason the renowned mountains and great rivers of the Yang Realm were so magnificent and had such world-shaking terrains was related to these people dying underground.

Why could the so-called world-shaking terrains kill evolutionaries? Even Heavenly Venerates might die entering them!

How could mere mountains and rivers kill people? Even if the terrain was strange and treacherous, and magnetic fields guided immense energy, it shouldn't be enough to kill gods or similar beings.

The main reason was that after ultimate powerhouses lay dormant and slept, they eventually died underground, their bodies dissolving and forming terrifying terrains. These created the renowned mountains and great rivers that shook the Yang Realm; these deadly places were formed only after they had assimilated with the Great Dao and merged with the earth.

Chu Feng's thoughts drifted, pondering many things. His heart remained restless for a long time.

Since there were no immortal beings, and all evolutionaries would eventually die, who were these hunters serving?

Could the orchestrators behind the scenes truly live for such an immense period? He didn't really believe it!

If it was an organization, however, it spanned the current era, linked to prehistoric times, and even further back, not confined to a single branch of evolutionary civilization, traversing ancient and modern times. That would be too terrifying.

Furthermore, Chu Feng didn't believe an organization could be so rigorous and maintain itself consistently. Once its founders died, such a colossal "legacy" would surely trigger disputes among different successors.

"It's a bit strange, a bit terrifying," Chu Feng murmured to himself. "The land of reincarnation has existed for an immense period, with an invisible hand controlling it, coldly observing from the darkness. It's too horrifying."

He even recalled Stone Fox Heavenly Venerate's hint and his personal experiences on the Path of Reincarnation. On that ancient road, there had clearly been great battles, remnants, and traces of fierce combat.

This indicated fierce contention, where no single party held absolute dominance. There were forces capable of challenging the orchestrators behind reincarnation, completely unafraid.

Moreover, it seemed this wasn't just one or two individuals or one or two factions. The more Chu Feng pondered, the more he realized how terrifyingly deep these waters ran.

Chu Feng sighed. As he gradually understood and a few answers emerged in his mind, he slowly began to understand why Stone Fox Heavenly Venerate, the Nine Netherworld Ghoul, and the super powerhouses of prehistoric times held such reverence for the land of reincarnation. The hidden implications were truly terrifying.

However, it remained so obscure, shrouded in a veil of mist from ancient times to the present, preventing anyone from seeing the truth.

Afterwards, Chu Feng also recalled his century-long experience in the foreign realm. Upon his return, when he smuggled himself back with the stone box, he had seen a colossal eye monitoring something between the cosmic boundaries.

At the same time, on that return journey, in the spatial rift between the Lesser Yin Realm and the foreign realm, he had seen a group of prehistoric giants, astonishingly tall, comparable to planets, all bearing the aura of reincarnation, some even carrying Reincarnation Blades. They were gods, demons, and similar beings, carving out a path, its destination unknown.

Some of them appeared numb, like walking corpses, while others were noble and tragic. Where were they going? What kind of path were they seeking?

Chu Feng pondered repeatedly. Reincarnation spanned too immense a period, not confined to a single evolutionary history, its origin shrouded in dense mist and layered with countless mysteries, utterly daunting.

He could only sigh. As he was still far from that level, he could only speculate, outwardly maintaining a lighthearted demeanor in the mortal world while secretly accumulating strength. Perhaps only after he exacted his revenge one day would he have a chance to unveil some of the mist; if he grew even stronger, he might even be able to participate.

"There are no traces of reincarnation here. It seems the information we received was incorrect," one of the creatures said.

The two creatures emerged from the temple, their aged voices speaking. In fact, they were very rigid, not truly valuing this place, as their primary target was the great being deep within the borderlands.

"Let's go hunt that great being!"

Whoosh! Whoosh!

They shot through the air, their speed astonishing.

Chu Feng's heart remained uneasy. These two creatures seemed to mechanically obey some command, lacking flexibility and not paying much attention to this place.

In the temple, ever since the statue of the fairy, her life-sized dharma body, was moved, the place had become ordinary, losing its former grandeur.

It was no wonder the two creatures found nothing, utterly oblivious.

"Something big is bound to happen," Chu Feng mused. "Are they going to hunt a great being who is about to die? But, while these two creatures are strong, I haven't sensed that terrifying energy."

Chu Feng doubted if these two creatures could truly kill a dying great being.

He even felt they couldn't even kill a Heavenly Venerate, not having reached that level of power.

Yet, he still felt a sense of danger.

"Perhaps it's just a natural counter, with some special means?" Chu Feng thought, recalling the cry from earlier, which was truly terrifying, turning his soul light pitch black in an instant.

He decided he needed to research this and specifically train his soul light in the future to prevent such an incident from happening again!

"If that great being, who is not long for this world, dies, slain by the Reincarnation Hunters," Chu Feng pondered, "his remaining mansion would truly cause a huge sensation, even more astonishing than the Dragon's Den."

However, Chu Feng always felt there was something more to it, not as simple as it appeared on the surface.

Who was sending messages to the Reincarnation Hunters, guiding them here? Some families and great powers in the Yang Realm were terrifyingly influential. Could someone truly contact beings from the Path of Reincarnation?

Or, did the existence behind reincarnation originally reside in the Yang Realm?

Chu Feng thought of an old acquaintance—Maiden Xi. Was she doing well after returning to the Yang Realm? Back then, Maiden Xi had mentioned seeing standard Reincarnation Blades in the Yang Realm, potentially belonging to a certain clan or even a powerful force.

"It seems I need to leave the borderlands as soon as possible, truly roam the world with my sword, improve myself rapidly, and along the way, I can seek out old acquaintances and learn more!"

Here, Chu Feng was alone, and he didn't have his usual superficial cheerfulness. Instead, his true inner emotions were revealed, his expression incredibly solemn.
