Chapter 1062: Reincarnation Hunter

Not long ago, this youth was arrogant and overbearing, showing no regard for the lives of ordinary people. He ordered his mastiff to tear Chu Feng to pieces and watched from his perch on a dragon-scaled beast, taking pleasure in the spectacle.

Now, however, his temples were streaked with white, and he was weeping bitterly, begging Chu Feng for his life. The contrast between then and now was stark.

“What’s the point?” Chu Feng looked at him, feeling quite repulsed. This youth had been cruel, overbearing, and an oppressor, treating people with contempt before humbling himself. The drastic change now, no matter how low he stooped, could not evoke any sympathy; it only intensified Chu Feng’s disgust.

“Spare me! I’ll give you information. There’s a great opportunity in the Black Domain Forest of the Borderlands, and soon, something major will happen that will shake the Yang Realm.” The emaciated youth, a bag of bones, knelt on the ground, whispering to Chu Feng.

Chu Feng scoffed. Could any opportunity be greater than the Dragon’s Den from a few years ago? What did they take the Borderlands for? Did they truly believe every inch of the land held profound mysteries and hidden realms?

“It’s true! Have you heard of the Reincarnation Hunters?!” the youth said weakly, leaning forward slightly as he spoke in a hushed tone.

Although his voice was low, to Chu Feng’s ears, it was like a clap of thunder. The mention of that name sent a ripple through his heart.

“Kill!” Just then, the youth suddenly attacked. His previously dull and sunken eyes gleamed with malevolent light, and his bony hand, appearing as translucent and lustrous as jade, struck out at Chu Feng. This was the Profound Jade Palm.

Blood flashed, and an arm flew into the air, accompanied by a scream. The youth, who had moved swiftly to attack, retreated just as quickly, stumbling backward and falling to the ground. Yet, despite his emaciated state, no blood flowed from his wound.

Chu Feng stood his ground, holding a mother-gold short sword. It was vivid red and crystalline, with patterns resembling stars and black holes etched upon its surface. This was his spoils of war, acquired after defeating the successor of the Taiwu lineage in the Dragon’s Den. He had never used it before; today marked its debut.

“You don’t even know your own strength, yet you dare to plot against this Divine King? When I was traversing the cosmos, you were still in diapers.” Upon hearing this, the youth felt like spitting blood, half from his injury and half from sheer anger. However, his violent coughing only resulted in a few trickles of blood at the corner of his mouth.

“Young Master!” The three figures behind him, despite their thousands of years of aged life, were loyal. They struggled to rise, intent on engaging Chu Feng.

“I’ll give you a quick end!” Chu Feng declared. With a swift movement of his sword, three heads flew through the air.

He felt no sympathy or pity, for these were not good people. Not long ago, they had all laughed coldbloodedly as they watched a fierce dog about to tear a child to pieces. Letting such people go would be tantamount to condoning evildoers and indirectly harming others.

“What delicious blood food! What a waste! Give it to me,” the Nine Nether Remnant sighed.

Chu Feng replied, “This youth is yours. Don’t kill him immediately; I want to know if he truly has some secret or great opportunity.” With a kick, he sent the one-armed youth flying, landing him in front of the stone coffin.

The youth was decisive, ruthless towards others and equally ruthless towards himself. He suddenly drew a dagger and aimed it at his own glabella.

“In my hands, even dying will be difficult for you!” the Nine Nether Remnant said sinisterly. Regardless of how kind, noble, or righteous such a creature was in life, once it crawled out of the Netherworld, it became a different species—ferocious, sinister, venomous, and employing terrifying methods. Even if it had been a peerless hero in life, after countless years in death, returning as a Nine Nether Remnant meant it was destined to embody evil. Relatively speaking, this particular Nine Nether Remnant was somewhat special and peculiar, not yet having displayed its most terrifying side.

The youth was pulled towards the stone coffin, his dagger unable to fall. He trembled violently, his face contorted as he succumbed to an invasion of evil energy, confessing everything.

“I come from the north, I’m the young master of a small city…” His city, with just over fifty thousand inhabitants, couldn’t even compare to a county town. It was adjacent to the tribes of the Great Wilderness, essentially a lawless zone bordering the Borderlands.

Chu Feng was surprised. For a small city of just over fifty thousand people to have a Saint as its lord, the Yang Realm truly was extraordinary. The Lesser Netherworld indeed couldn’t compare to this place!

“It’s true. The Reincarnation Hunters have appeared, and their target is the Borderlands,” the youth mumbled as if in a trance, continuously revealing the secrets in his heart.

His father had hosted an honored guest, who turned out to be a Divine King! That Divine King was a disciple of a Celestial Venerable and was tasked with gathering information in the Borderlands. Due to an ancestral connection with the city lord, he had revealed some secrets. The Reincarnation Hunters were appearing, coming to the Borderlands to hunt!

Chu Feng gasped upon hearing this news. He had been greatly surprised the first time he heard about Reincarnation Hunters in the Yang Realm, and now they were finally going to appear? Holly had said these creatures were too mysterious for anyone to see. Yet now, someone had privately learned of their impending appearance. What did this signify?

“After my father learned of this secret, he believed it was a great opportunity. He sent many people into the Borderlands to investigate, and I was just pretending to hunt, but in reality, I was searching everywhere.”

“What were you looking for?” Chu Feng asked.

“A Great One in the final stages of decline. He is the target of the Reincarnation Hunters!” The youth divulged this secret, causing a tremor in Chu Feng’s heart and sending shivers down the Nine Nether Remnant’s spine.

Once that dying Great One completely perished, it would mean their immortal cave would become ownerless, presenting a great opportunity for those in the outside world.

“Why is this happening? Why would Reincarnation Hunters target a dying creature?” Chu Feng wondered, puzzled. In truth, his heart was far from calm because he knew that deep within the Borderlands, in a mountain range near the Black Domain Forest, a dying Great One truly slept. At that time, he had personally experienced its dream, which was extremely terrifying!

That year, a Divine King level prodigy named Ji Caixuan, and a white-haired youth named Li Jiuxiao — whom Chu Feng had drenched for an entire season with a rain shower — had also personally experienced the Great One’s terrifying dream, nearly dying. Were the Reincarnation Hunters coming for this Great One? What was the reason?

“Reportedly, the Great One lurking deep in the Borderlands even burned three special talismans to communicate with reincarnation, intending to reincarnate directly in the Yang Realm and be reborn!”

The youth had actually revealed such a shocking secret, leaving Chu Feng stunned and causing even the Nine Nether Remnant’s heart to tremble. Could one really reincarnate directly in the Yang Realm without going to the land of reincarnation? How was that possible? No need to walk the path of reincarnation? Chu Feng was shocked and found it hard to believe. Was there a formidable character residing in this Great Wilderness, attempting to defy the heavens?

The Nine Nether Remnant said with a tremor, “Impossible! No one can succeed in this way. Back in my era of evolution, no one could directly reincarnate successfully in the Yang Realm; they had to walk the path of reincarnation!” It was, of course, referring to prehistoric times, a period too distant from the present.

“So, there is indeed such a possibility, such a method?” Chu Feng asked.

The Nine Nether Remnant replied, “It’s just a legend, but it’s impossible to succeed. The depths of the reincarnation path are such that even formidable figures who once unified one-twentieth of the Yang Realm’s territory lamented that no one could bypass the land of reincarnation. They said the waters of the reincarnation path were too deep; knowing the truth could frighten even Celestial Venerables to death.”

Upon hearing this, Chu Feng felt a chill down his spine. At the same time, he looked suspicious and asked, “You are a Nine Nether Remnant, how do you still remember your past life?”

“Ahem, I only remember a little; I’m rather special,” the Nine Nether Remnant said, then fell silent.

In his stupor, the youth involuntarily revealed everything he knew. Chu Feng, from a distance, shot out a beam of divine light that pierced the youth’s glabella, granting him a swift end to his life.

“This matter isn’t simple. If it goes wrong, it could turn everything upside down; the Yang Realm is heading for great chaos,” Chu Feng murmured to himself, his heart heavy.

Four and a half years had passed, and in Yongzhou, a towering blood-red light covered endless territories. A crimson mist enveloped the vast primeval land, striking fear into outsiders, who dared not approach. Everyone in the world was watching Yongzhou, wondering when that entity would fully awaken and emerge.

And now, Reincarnation Hunters had appeared in Yuzhou of the Borderlands, targeting a real, dying Great One. Indeed, chaos was about to erupt across the land.

“There’s something wrong here. What right does a mere city lord have to know about such matters? Even that Divine King shouldn’t be privy to this. There must be a hidden agenda,” the Nine Nether Remnant in the stone coffin commented, believing something was amiss. “Did the Reincarnation Hunters come on their own, or were they deliberately lured here?”

“Even capturing and killing a dying Great One is an earth-shattering event. Those who dare to get involved at this level must be incredibly bold!”

“These waters are murky, terrifying, and dangerous. I’d really like to hide in the celestial pit for a while,” the Nine Nether Remnant muttered to itself, speaking at length, clearly very wary.

Chu Feng, with his small hands clasped behind his back, said, “Second brother, we agreed to roam the world together with our swords. Are you going back to the Netherworld by yourself? I won’t force you, but perhaps I can personally escort you back?”

“Kill me, and I still won’t go back!” The Nine Nether Remnant shook its head vigorously. Recalling its underground experiences, it shuddered and never wanted to go through that again.

Suddenly, it thought of another possibility. “Huh, could these so-called Reincarnation Hunters be heading for the Netherworld? Then I absolutely cannot go back!”

“In that case, second brother, you go and rest well first.” With that, Chu Feng swiftly set up a teleportation array, blasted the Nine Nether Remnant into it, and sent it directly away.

“Ah, where are you sending me?!” Just before it vanished, it let out a shriek, horrified. Was this little bastard breaking their agreement and trying to trap and kill it?

“Sending you back home!” Chu Feng said.

“What, ahhh…” The Nine Nether Remnant cried out in despair. However, with an instant clang, the stone coffin crashed out of the void and fell onto a mountaintop.

“Ah, it’s not my Netherworld home! You scared your grandpa half to death, you cursed little bastard! This is… Thunderstrike Mountain?! This wretch!” It was furious, its heart filled with bitter resentment. In the end, that little scoundrel had sent it back to its original prison, Thunderstrike Mountain, where the Immortal of the Divine Temple had confined it.

“You rest here for now. When I’m ready to leave this Great Wilderness, I’ll come for you, and we’ll travel together!” Chu Feng came to see it, then swiftly departed. He truly wanted to stay in the Borderlands for a while to see if the Reincarnation Hunters would appear. He would wait for some time.

Chu Feng felt that after more than four years, he couldn’t detect any reincarnation-related information on himself and wasn’t particularly worried about his own fate. Especially after drinking Meng Po’s Soup, he felt that the aura he once shared with the Immortal of the Divine Temple had completely vanished from him, making him even more at ease.

However, eight days later, an unexpected and startling change occurred. Two creatures descended from the sky, landing on the low mountain behind the Ji clan’s tribe. With no other thoughts, Chu Feng, while horrified, immediately realized: these must be the Reincarnation Hunters! Why were they here? Weren’t they after that Great One? Chu Feng’s hair stood on end!
