"Go to Prisoner Peak and see if we can find out the location of the Immortal Cult's headquarters." Yun Zhi crooked a finger, and several members of the Immortal Cult, their bodies uncontrolled, floated in the air, following behind her.
Yun Zhi thought for a moment and called Lu Yang over: "You come too; you might be useful."
It had only been a few days since his last visit to Prisoner Peak, and Lu Yang found himself there once again.
Prisoner Peak remained as it always was: dreary and oppressive.
In a cell, Lu Yang saw the ancient Tribulation-Stage cultivator he had met in the Three Manifestation Grotto-Heaven—the Blood Demon Venerable.
Now, the Blood Demon Venerable was merely a soul, devoid of the defiance he displayed when they first met. Hearing the footsteps of his Senior Sister, he curled up in a corner of the cell, trembling.
His Senior Sister walked straight past him without even a glance.
The white-haired child, feigning an aged demeanor, welcomed Yun Zhi and Lu Yang's arrival: "Little Yun is back again. Who did you bring this time?"
Lu Yang now knew that the previous Sect Master, the white-haired child, was named Tang Shengyi.
"Two Immortal Cult Vice-Leaders and five high-ranking Immortal Cult members."
"My goodness, you've captured some heavy hitters! Did you just dismantle the Immortal Cult's stronghold?" Tang Shengyi was somewhat astonished; his grand-disciple truly possessed extraordinary abilities.
"They walked straight into a trap themselves."
At this moment, Vice-Leaders Liu and Gao had both regained consciousness. Hearing Yun Zhi's words, they burst into curses.
"You despicable Dao Seeking Sect, you clearly tricked me into coming here!"
"What a grand scheme you devised, using a Tribulation-Stage Tofu Celestial as an undercover agent, infiltrating the Immortal Cult to gain our trust!"
Clearly, Vice-Leader Liu wasn't fully awake yet.
Vice-Leader Gao whispered a reminder: "Wake up, where's this Tofu Celestial coming from?"
Vice-Leader Liu looked confused: "Isn't that Lu Yang?"
Yun Zhi silently watched Lu Yang, also curious about what dream Lu Yang had fabricated for Vice-Leader Liu.
Lu Yang cleared his throat, too embarrassed to recount the dream, and quickly changed the subject: "Let's question them now. What tools do you need? Pepper spray, a tiger bench, or a water-soaked leather whip?"
The two Vice-Leaders had, after all, spent centuries, even millennia, in the demonic cult. Both were ruthless individuals, and ordinary interrogation methods wouldn't even make them bat an eye.
"Heh, young man, do you think such methods will make us reveal our cult's secrets? Impossible!"
"The orthodox path is foolish and ignorant, actually preventing us from resurrecting the Immortal. With the ancient great era reappearing, if the Immortal is not resurrected, who will protect us?!"
"Exterminating demons and devils—it sounds noble, but you don't realize that it's precisely such actions that are dooming humanity's future!"
The two Vice-Leaders took turns, mocking the orthodox path's ignorance.
"No need for such trouble yet," Yun Zhi interjected, stopping Lu Yang.
After asking the white-haired child to leave, she said to Lu Yang: "Immortal Fairy, come out and meet your believers."
Behind Lu Yang appeared an ethereal, dream-like fairy. The fairy's jade-like feet were bare, her eyes bright and teeth gleaming. Her skirt fluttered in the air, her immortal grace flowing, her demeanor otherworldly.
"Are you two my believers?"
The Immortal Fairy's expression was indifferent, her eyes as still as an ancient well, as she looked at the two Vice-Leaders as if they were mere insects.
Integration-Stage cultivators were influential figures in the Central Continent: ancestors within sects, high-ranking officials in dynasties, and mysterious legends in the martial world. However, before an Immortal, an Integration-Stage cultivator was utterly insignificant.
"Who are you?!"
The two Vice-Leaders demanded, trying to mask their panic with their voices.
For some reason, the moment they saw this fairy, they felt an overwhelming urge to prostrate themselves in worship.
The Immortal Fairy gave a nonchalant chuckle and said: "I am the Immortal Fairy."
"The Immortal Fairy?" Hearing her self-proclaimed title, both men's hearts began to pound.
How could this title be so similar to the Immortal? Was it a coincidence?
The Immortal Fairy continued: "You have been deceived. There was never an Immortal; there has only ever been me, the Immortal Fairy."
"Someone feared my resurrection and tried to conceal my existence with the ridiculous title 'Immortal.' How ignorant, how laughable."
"The world is not short of foolish individuals who believed the rumors spread by those behind the scenes."
"Fortunately, the Dao Seeking Sect bears the Mandate of Heaven, and individuals of great destiny took on the karma of my resurrection, called forth my true name, and brought me back to life."
A chill crept into the hearts of the two Vice-Leaders; this passage revealed far too much information.
What did she mean by 'there was never an Immortal,' or 'someone feared the Immortal Fairy,' and that 'Dao Seeking Sect bearing the Mandate of Heaven and individuals of great destiny'... The more they thought about it, the more terrifying it became.
"So, what we've actually been worshipping isn't the Immortal, but you?" Vice-Leader Liu looked up at the sacred Immortal Fairy, a deep sense of dread filling his heart.
"Precisely. You have been misled. I am not a bloodthirsty being, and the notion that I delight in slaughter is a baseless fabrication, utter nonsense."
The Immortal Fairy instructed: "To correct a mistake is a great virtue. If you now reveal the location of the Immortal Cult's headquarters to this cultivator named Yun Zhi, all your past mistakes can still be redeemed."
Vice-Leader Gao suddenly asked: "Immortal Fairy, could you tell us your true immortal name?"
The Immortal Fairy nodded, and in a calm tone, revealed her true name: "My name is Huang Doudou."
The two Vice-Leaders' expressions instantly grew agitated: "I knew it! You're a fraud sent by the Dao Seeking Sect! How could a dignified Immortal Fairy have such a name? It's clearly made up on the spot!"
"Gotcha, didn't I? 'Huang Doudou' — is your family in the tofu business?"
The Immortal Fairy exuded a chilling aura.
If a Tribulation-Stage cultivator had been present, they would have discerned that this aura surpassed the Tribulation Stage, and thus recognized the Immortal Fairy's identity.
Unfortunately, the two Vice-Leaders were only at the Integration Stage; they were blind to true power. They knew the aura surpassed their stage but didn't realize it was unique to Immortals.
Yun Zhi gently and calmly advised the Immortal Fairy not to be angry: "Senior Immortal Fairy, there's no need to be upset. Asking you to step in was merely a long shot. Since they don't recognize you, I'll just have to employ some methods to make them reveal the Immortal Cult's location."
Only then did the Immortal Fairy's expression improve, and she returned to Lu Yang's body.
Yun Zhi then said to Lu Yang: "My methods will be more brutal than last time. You are still young, so you shouldn't watch."
Lu Yang shivered at his Senior Sister's admonition and dutifully left Prisoner Peak.
On the way back, Lu Yang kindly consoled the sulking Immortal Fairy, praising her name as actually very pleasant and cute.
"Really?" The Immortal Fairy was somewhat pleased; it was rare for anyone to compliment her name.
"Really, really!" Lu Yang nodded repeatedly.
Lu Yang looked up at the moon in the sky, remembering something: "Speaking of which, I wonder what time it is now. Is it tomorrow yet?"
Just as Lu Yang pondered, a hearty laugh echoed from not far away.
"Junior Brother Lu asked a good question! What a coincidence, it's just past midnight, so it's already the next day!"
In other words, the Immortal Fairy was no longer the acting Sect Master.
Senior Brother Ma Tianyang grinned menacingly: "Junior Brother Lu, did you enjoy your three days as acting Sect Master? I heard Junior Brother Lu possesses a heavenly talent and can challenge those above his rank. I'd like to spar with you."
Senior Brother Ma Tianyang lifted Lu Yang like a little chick and carried him to the arena.
Hearing that Lu Yang was there, more and more Senior Brothers and Sisters rushed over, making Lu Yang's calves tremble.
"Immortal Fairy, you're responsible for this!" Inside the mental space, Lu Yang glared angrily at the Immortal Fairy.
He had just been consoling the Immortal Fairy; what a joke! She should be consoling him!
The Immortal Fairy, feeling guilty, turned her head away.
"Th-this is also part of the trial."
