Chapter 1269: My Family's That One

"What kind of ability is this?" The bullets instantly lost their kinetic energy, coming to a complete stop. Both the police department and the audience were dumbfounded by this sight.

"His energy shield must have a limit; he can't keep it activated indefinitely. Fire, keep firing!" The police chief immediately gave the order. This wasn't solely his decision; the quantum computer had also yielded the same calculation.

According to the quantum computer's calculations, there was a 95% probability that the energy barrier around Lu Yang could not be maintained long-term. The more bullets it solidified, the shorter its duration would be.

Immediately after the police chief gave the order, a directive came from higher up: "We have orders from above: capture him alive!"

"What?"

Higher-ranking leaders had become aware of Lu Yang's presence. The technology Lu Yang possessed and the forces behind him were precisely what the Interstellar Alliance wanted to uncover; he absolutely could not be allowed to die. But it was too late. The command had been issued, and the rooftop instantly became a focal point of intense fire. Guns and cannons blazed simultaneously, making the rooftop as hot as a furnace.

Bang bang bang bang! Robot police, covered in gun barrels like a dense beehive, fired bullets of various calibers, laser cannons, and other weapons whose types Lu Yang couldn't identify.

Among the spectators were many military enthusiasts, who recognized these as the most powerful weapons available to the police. They were powerful enough to level an entire building, let alone hit a person!

Countless attacks assailed him from all directions. However, every single attack solidified precisely three feet from Lu Yang, no more, no less. Even exploding cannon shells froze three feet away, maintaining their just-detonated appearance.

Both high-ranking Interstellar Alliance leaders and ordinary spectators were aghast. This could no longer be explained by an energy shield!

Lu Yang waved at the cameras, a mysterious smile on his face, and an incomprehensible word flowed from his lips: "Traceback." As if time were rewinding, the fired bullets retreated through their barrels back into magazines, the exploded shells reverted to their original forms, the torn-off roof closed back up, and Lu Yang also vanished. It was as if nothing had ever happened—if the film crew hadn't disappeared, that is.

"What, what kind of technology is this?" The comment section erupted in an uproar, with viewers repeatedly posting question marks, yet no one could provide a definitive answer.

"Atomic repair technology, only existing in theory?"

"Time reversal, it must be time reversal!"

The Alliance leadership immediately dispatched their most advanced warships to pursue the covered boat, but after the boat executed a unique spatial maneuver, its trace could no longer be found.

No one noticed that the very target they sought was right downstairs from the building. Lu Yang, in disguise, hummed a tune as he left the scene. His clothes had changed to common Interstellar Alliance styles, his appearance altered, and even his aura was different from before. Even Old Meng, if he stood there, wouldn't recognize him.

He wasn't ready to interact with the Interstellar Alliance's high command yet.

"Xiao Yangzi, what do you mean by 'my darling'?" The Immortal Fairy's cheeks flushed slightly. She found the endearment so intimate that she didn't dare to look Xiao Yangzi directly in the eye.

"My home is my spiritual space, and since you reside in my spiritual space, you are naturally 'my darling'," Lu Yang said, watching the fairy's reaction with a half-smile, finding it amusing.

"Is that what you meant?" The Immortal Fairy suddenly understood, her eyes brightening immediately. "Then can't I also call you 'my darling', Xiao Yangzi?"

"No, no, you don't really have to call me that," Lu Yang said, his gaze darting away, not daring to continue the conversation.

Naturally, the high command of the Interstellar Alliance had no idea that the alien who had rattled their nerves tonight was currently feeling bashful. Twelve holographic projections sat around a circular table; the atmosphere was solemn.

Half of them had been roused from their sleep to attend this meeting. Since the Alliance's inception, few events had elicited such a strong reaction from them. When they did react this way, the incident was invariably a major event that would affect the Alliance's future.

The last time such an atmosphere prevailed was when they resolved the issue of the Alliance's imminent dissolution. "Regarding that extraterrestrial visitor, have the calculations from 'Aether' come in?" one of them slowly asked. He was the President of the Interstellar Alliance Council, the supreme leader of the Interstellar Alliance.

Aether was the Interstellar Alliance's most advanced and largest quantum computer. The Interstellar Alliance comprised 800 main planets, 3,000 auxiliary planets, and a population in the trillions. Maintaining such vast rule was largely thanks to Aether's comprehensive planning and coordination.

"We can't compute a definitive result, only probabilities. The abilities displayed by the extraterrestrial named Lu Yang have never been recorded in Aether." The speaker was the Alliance's Chief Scientist, renowned as the most brilliant mind of the millennium—though, currently, only his brain was truly his own. "The forces behind Lu Yang have either pursued a research path different from ours, or their technological advancement has created a generational gap between us."

"According to Aether's calculations, if the technological level of the forces behind him far surpassed ours, their influence would already be spread throughout the universe, and the Alliance would not be making contact only now."

"So Aether believes this alien possesses technology from a different research path than ours?"

"Correct."

Everyone fell into a prolonged silence, contemplating Aether's conclusion. The Chief Scientist continued, "However, if we absolutely had to find a corresponding record for this extraterrestrial in Aether, there is one 'pseudo-record' that could match."

The other eleven were stunned: "What do you mean by 'pseudo-record'?"

"It refers to records that exist but lack corroborating context or prior documentation, and which current technology cannot verify. For instance, many civilizations in their formative stages have records of world-ending floods or immortals traversing space."

One person's expression became strange: "You're not suggesting that the extraterrestrial could be an immortal, are you?"

"Precisely."

This time, the group did not remain silent, immediately rejecting this conclusion. "That's impossible; there's no need to consider such a probability." There were no immortals in the world; their own technology would appear as divine abilities to lower-level civilizations.

"So the highest probability is that they have a different research path than ours?"

Everyone present showed signs of joy. Alliance technology had been in a bottleneck for 500 years; not only had there been no major breakthroughs, but even minor ones were scarce. The technological methods Lu Yang possessed would surely help them achieve new progress!

"What about the situation on Tianhai Star?"

"What does Aether say?"

"It recommends launching humanitarian aid and post-disaster reconstruction efforts for Tianhai Star. Firstly, this aligns with the Alliance's long-standing policy, and secondly, it provides an opportunity to gather more intelligence about Lu Yang by starting with Tianhai Star."

"Then we shall proceed according to Aether's recommendation."

"Furthermore, I propose allocating one percent of Aether's computing power to analyze Lu Yang's case."

"I agree."

"Agreed."

"Agreed."
