Chapter 1039: Sect Reunion

Chapter 1055: Family Reunion

Yun Mengmeng couldn't put down the exquisite sand sculpture of Xitian Temple she had received. It perfectly recreated the temple's pre-war appearance.

"Did something happen to Xitian Temple? It looks incomplete now."

Lu Yang slammed his thigh in frustration. "It's all because of that despicable Si Chen Divine Monarch! He destroyed Xitian Temple for a single immortal herb!"

"How could someone do that? He's awful!" Yun Mengmeng felt indignant for Xitian Temple, thinking Si Chen Divine Monarch was truly a bad egg.

"Right? I think so too," Lu Yang agreed.

Just then, Gan Tian walked over. She heard Lu Yang and Yun Mengmeng's conversation and had a strange expression, but didn't say much.

"Senior Sister said this is the first time all four of us disciples are together, so she wants to have dinner tonight. She asked if you, Junior Brother, are free to barbecue?"

"Of course I have time. Why would Senior Sister think I don't?"

"She said you might be busy showing off how you became an immortal in the Buddhist Kingdom, so you might not have time."

Lu Yang's eye twitched. Senior Sister really did know him well.

"Second Boss, you became an immortal?" Yun Mengmeng looked at Lu Yang with admiration. As expected of the Second Boss, he truly was capable!

Lu Yang couldn't stop the corners of his mouth from curling upwards. "It was all due to circumstances, really. Let's go down the mountain to buy some ingredients, and I'll tell you about it on the way..."

By the time the Second Boss and Third Boss returned with their purchases, dusk had fallen. Lu Yang carried ingredients he'd gotten for free from "Let's Do It Again BBQ," while Yun Mengmeng held dishes from "Hundred Fragrances Restaurant."

Ye Zijin set up a long table, placing the dishes from Hundred Fragrances Restaurant on it. Lu Yang conjured the Samadhi True Fire, and the long-awaited grilled skewers quickly filled the air with their fragrance, spreading across the entire mountain.

Gan Tian fiddled with her guqin, channeling spiritual energy into it. Gentle music emanated from the instrument without anyone plucking the strings. While not as profound as when Gan Tian herself played, it still captured seventy to eighty percent of her skill. This particular piece had the effect of helping people achieve breakthroughs and was extremely rare to hear outside.

"Third Junior Sister, don't you think it's a bit odd for a sect reunion to be missing our Master?"

Gan Tian continued to adjust her guqin, saying without turning her head, "Who knows where he is now? It's probably too late to call him back anyway, isn't it?"

"Senior Brother has a solution."

Ye Zijin placed a portrait of Daoist Immortal Buzhi at the end of the table, with wine and dishes arranged before it, showing utmost filial piety.

"That's much better."

"Skewers are ready!" Lu Yang announced professionally, bringing two large platters of grilled skewers. He even thoughtfully picked out a few to place in front of the portrait.

Senior Sister arrived fashionably late. Her appearance signaled the official start of dinner.

Senior Sister, Lu Yang, and Yun Mengmeng sat in a row, while Ye Zijin and Gan Tian sat opposite them. The five of them raised their cups to celebrate their sect's reunion.

"To our Master, wherever he may be."

"Master, do you see? All four of your disciples are back."

"Master, all four of your disciples have achieved something."

Ye Zijin took a bite of a skewer and his eyes widened. "Junior Brother, your skewers are amazing! If I'd known you could cook this well, I wouldn't have treated you to mushy hotpot in Xitian City. You could have just made me skewers!"

Ye Zijin's taste buds had been tormented for hundreds of years in the Buddhist Kingdom. Now, tasting the popular skewers of Great Xia, his sense of taste actually showed signs of gradual recovery.

"...Damn it, what garbage was I eating in the Buddhist Kingdom all those years!"

Yun Mengmeng ate with both hands, as if she had three heads and six arms, her mouth smeared with barbecue sauce. Even so, she didn't forget her good friend: "Xiao Zhi, let's clink!"

Yun Zhi raised her teacup and gently tapped it.

Yun Mengmeng downed her peach juice and sighed, "I can't believe you met so many people outside, Xiao Zhi. Back home, you'd always bury your head in books and talk to no one. I was quite worried when you left with that bad peach."

"It's so good that you met so many people, truly wonderful."

Yun Mengmeng was genuinely happy for her good friend.

"Senior Sister, I'd like to toast you too. My achievements today are largely thanks to your help." Lu Yang took the opportunity to clink glasses with Senior Sister and express his gratitude.

Gan Tian also raised a glass: "Senior Sister, you guided my cultivation when Master wasn't around, and you always helped me solve any difficulties I encountered in the Demon Realm. Thank you."

"It's what fellow disciples should do. There's no need for thanks."

The two clinked glasses.

"Senior Sister, I toast you. If you hadn't sent me to train in the Buddhist Kingdom, my cultivation wouldn't have advanced so quickly. I only now truly understand your thoughtful intentions."

"Second Junior Brother, you're exaggerating. The Buddhist Kingdom is desolate, and it wasn't easy for you to train there while also searching for clues about the Immortal of Time all these years. Now that you're back, just rest easy and cultivate in the sect."

Ye Zijin was meticulous; he knew Senior Sister was sensitive about her age. This time, he absolutely had to flatter her according to her wishes.

"Oh, Senior Sister, what are you talking about? You're the one who had it toughest, managing the sect for Master at such a young age."

*Clink*. Lu Yang's teacup fell onto the table, unnoticed by him. He stared at Ye Zijin, mouth agape.

There's a good reason you were exiled to the Buddhist Kingdom, Second Senior Brother.

Lu Yang subtly scooted to his right, closer to Yun Mengmeng and farther from Senior Sister.

If Senior Sister really got angry, he'd quickly hide behind Yun Mengmeng.

Second Senior Brother was an restless person. He didn't want to stay in the sect and proactively suggested going out for training. When Lu Yang came out of seclusion, Second Senior Brother had already left, leaving only a letter, without even a chance to say goodbye.

"Oh, right, Second Boss, I forgot to give these to you yesterday. These storage rings are yours." Yun Mengmeng pulled out several storage rings.

Lu Yang puzzledly accepted the rings, finding them filled to the brim with spirit stones.

"So many spirit stones! Where did they come from?!"

"They were sent by the Qiongqi tribe. They said the business of making record-keeping orbs is doing well and they're giving you ten percent of the profits."

"You weren't around, so Xiao Zhi told me to keep them for you until you returned."

"So that's how it is. It seems Senior Jin Caiwei's business is doing well." If Yun Mengmeng hadn't mentioned it, Lu Yang would have almost forgotten his suggestion to Jin Caiwei to create three-dimensional record-keeping orbs.

"If I'd known about three-dimensional record-keeping orbs, I should've used them to record my battle with Si Chen Divine Monarch!" Lu Yang regretted immensely. If his identity as Tofu Celestial hadn't been a secret, he would have copied the orbs hundreds or thousands of times and handed them out for free on the streets.

"The Qiongqi tribe is finally doing well. Xiao Yangzi, since you gave them the idea, their business success is partly your karma," Immortal Fairy Bu Xiu emerged, remarking with emotion. She never thought the little tiger would have a day of doing business and earning money.

"It must be your strong destiny, Xiao Yangzi, suppressing the Qiongqi tribe's poor fate."

Yun Mengmeng curiously asked, "If Second Boss has such a strong destiny, then why do disasters follow him everywhere he goes?"

Immortal Fairy Bu Xiu waved her hand, "That's because their destinies aren't strong enough."
