The Mortal Realm
The other individual had been lurking in the Demon King's cave mansion, only now making a move. Could they also have infiltrated with the guards, just like Qin Sang, and entered together?
This was truly shocking.
The Celestial Eye Butterfly had detected nothing at all.
Qin Sang believed that there was a low probability of the other party being a Nascent Soul expert or a shapeshifting Great Demon; otherwise, he would certainly have been exposed right under their nose.
Regaining his composure, Qin Sang did not act rashly. He slowed his pace and quietly trailed them.
The Demon King's favorite concubine's boudoir was brightly lit.
A green wolf, leading a group of lesser demons, was guarding at the foot of the mountain. Now, each one of them looked crestfallen.
A grand feast was in full celebration ahead, but only they were being scolded.
The Demon King's favorite concubine unleashed all her fury on them. It was only after she finally tired of scolding them and went back that they had a moment of peace.
"Keep your eyes peeled, all of you!" the green wolf growled. "If anything goes wrong, you won't need the Great King to issue an order. I'll seal your cultivation first and throw you all into the Ten Thousand Snakes Cave!"
The green wolf held its breath, its eyes suddenly flashing with a fierce glint as it lowered its head, baring its fangs.
"Who's there!"
The next moment, a gray falcon demon appeared from the shadows, flying straight towards the green wolf and its subordinates. Its movements were extremely cautious, as if terrified of disturbing the Demon King's favorite concubine.
Seeing the gray falcon, the green wolf found it somewhat familiar and remembered it was a lesser demon under White-Feathered Eagle.
"Is that you?"
The lesser demons were about to surround it, but the green wolf barked them back.
"Did White-Feathered Eagle send you?"
The gray falcon, unable to speak human language, nodded profusely. It flew to the green wolf and stealthily placed a bag from its back onto the ground. There was a crisp clinking sound, accompanied by a faint, rich aroma of wine.
Then, the gray falcon respectfully stepped aside and pointed its wing upwards.
"Heavenly wine, sent by the Great King's command?"
The green wolf's eyes lit up. It ripped open the bag and saw it filled with bottles of fine wine. The gloom in its chest vanished instantly. It seized a few bottles in its mouth and tossed the bag behind it.
"Lads!" it roared. "The Great King hasn't forgotten us! Take it and share it!"
The lesser demons had long been salivating and were overjoyed, scrambling to get their hands on the wine.
"What splendid wine!"
The green wolf drained the wine from a bottle in one gulp, then smacked its lips, still wanting more, and praised it profusely. "I heard these heavenly wines were bought by the Great King from Demon King Yuan," it said. "They truly live up to their reputation."
After downing three bottles in quick succession, the green wolf glanced at the gray falcon beside it and scoffed, "I think your demon king should just be called White-Furred Mouse! He’s as timid as a mouse! The Great King ordered him to bring me wine, and he didn't even dare to come himself."
The gray falcon replied, "Wolf King, please don't be angry. Lord Eagle King is currently stationed at the front mountain and cannot leave easily."
"Hmph…"
The green wolf sneered, then its expression suddenly froze.
The lesser demons were also completely stunned.
This gray falcon had never been granted human speech by the Great King, yet it was speaking human language.
"Collapse! Collapse! Collapse!"
The gray falcon raised its wing and gently flapped it downwards.
The lesser demons' eyes rolled back, and they lost consciousness, collapsing to the ground in an instant.
The green wolf, being a Great Demon of the Demon Core stage, was not so easily affected. But when it tried to pounce on the gray falcon, it felt its entire body go limp and weak, its demonic energy stagnating, unable to exert any strength.
"You…"
The green wolf slammed hard onto the ground, still wanting to resist with all its might. Suddenly, its vision flashed white as a net woven from lightning descended over its head. It felt a sharp pain and passed out.
"These Immortal's Drunkenness wines," the falcon demon muttered, "this young master went to great lengths to acquire them in Immortal Demon City. They can even knock out late-stage Demon Core cultivators. It’s a pity they only work once consumed."
The gray falcon's eyes darted around, a hint of smugness flashing within them. It quickly dragged the green wolf and the other demons into the shadows.
Then, it opened its mouth and spat out a spherical pearl.
As the pearl left its body, the gray falcon suddenly transformed, its aura surging dramatically.
The feathers on its body were no longer gray, but a thunderous silver-white, glistening brightly, as if lightning constantly coursed over its wings.
It looked like a thunder beast born from a baptism of lightning!
Its eyes were sharp, its talons like swords.
Although its appearance was still like a hawk or falcon, at this moment, its gaze and demeanor were incomparably more majestic than before, the difference as vast as a bright moon compared to a firefly.
Even more astonishingly, the gray falcon had just been a lesser demon of the Demon Spirit stage, yet now it had leaped to the mid-Demon Core stage!
"This mirage pearl my mother left me is indeed useful for disguise," it muttered, "but I have to seal my cultivation for it to be flawless. Being ordered around by you all these years has been utterly stifling for this young master!"
It kicked the green wolf hard, then looked up at the Demon King's favorite concubine's boudoir. The spherical pearl flashed, mist surged, and after swallowing it again, it transformed back into the green wolf and quietly soared upwards.
In a patch of jungle.
Qin Sang, hidden in the shadows of the trees, had observed the entire process.
Seeing the falcon demon after its dramatic transformation, Qin Sang suddenly felt a sense of familiarity.
"No way?"
Qin Sang stared at the falcon demon's silver-white feathers.
He suddenly recalled years ago, when he had infiltrated Boundless Valley with Daoist Yun Youzi to search for the Night Orchid Lily, the scene of a Sky-Swallowing Thunder Falcon battling two human Nascent Soul cultivators.
This falcon demon, whether in aura or cultivation, could not be compared to a shapeshifting Sky-Swallowing Thunder Falcon, but its appearance was extremely similar to one.
Qin Sang remembered that the Sky-Swallowing Thunder Falcon had a young offspring, which he had once teased.
Could this be an old acquaintance?
Confirming that the falcon demon was merely a mid-Demon Core stage cultivator, relying on an exotic treasure for disguise, and had already been mingling among the demons, not as formidable as he had initially feared, Qin Sang felt a wave of relief and quickly followed.
The Demon King's favorite concubine's boudoir.
Light gauze curtains, a white jade dressing table.
At first glance, one might mistake it for a human woman's private chamber.
In fact, the owner of the boudoir, who was the Demon King's favorite concubine, was a female cultivator.
This woman possessed exceptional beauty, but her innate talent was somewhat lacking. She was still trapped in the False Core stage. However, she was deeply favored by the Demon King. Demon King Qianji had already promised to spare no effort to help her break through the Core Formation stage bottleneck.
Neither her cultivation nor her family background could possibly shake the status of the Demon King's official consort.
The concubine was well aware of this, so she merely feigned anger to vent her frustration on the lesser demons, without actually causing trouble at the birthday banquet. At this moment, the Demon King's favorite concubine showed no anger on her face. She was facing a mirror, doing her makeup, looking dazzlingly beautiful.
"Your Ladyship," came the green wolf's voice from outside, "the Great King has sent someone to deliver the immortal fruit nectar you enjoy."
"What hypocrisy!" the concubine huffed. "Why doesn't he deliver it himself?"
The concubine snorted, and with a sweep of her spiritual sense, saw that it was indeed the green wolf delivering it personally. She opened the restriction in front of her boudoir door. "Leave it outside!" she commanded.
"Yes!"
Suddenly, the concubine felt something amiss. Through the mirror, she was horrified to discover that the green wolf had, at some point, entered her private chamber and was now standing behind her.
"How dare you!"
The concubine was shocked and enraged, but suddenly felt a chill around her neck as a silver chain tightened around it.
"Your Ladyship, don't be impulsive," the falcon demon said. "I know the Great King has given you many protective treasures. If this young master gets nervous and makes a mistake, causing you to perish, that wouldn't be good."
The mist around the falcon demon dissipated, revealing its true form.
"What do you want to do!" the concubine cried, seeing an unfamiliar falcon demon. "I was forcibly abducted by him! I know nothing!"
"I don't intend to ask you anything," the falcon demon said calmly. Then a bolt of electricity shot from its fingertip.
The Demon King's favorite concubine's vision went black, and she fell unconscious.
