Chapter 769: Cultivation Reform

True fortune lies in being able to claim and enjoy it; without the life to do so, it's merely an illusion.

This place was a veritable deathtrap. A silver tyrannosaurus, at the peak of the Golden Body realm, roared, and its body erupted with blood energy that blotted out the sky, instantly shattering groups of evolutionaries.

In the blink of an eye, the group of over two thousand had dwindled to fewer than twelve hundred. Nearly half were wiped out in such a short time. At this rate, total annihilation was inevitable; no one would survive.

Despite its immense size of over five hundred meters, the silver tyrannosaurus was incredibly fast. Once it moved, it was like a streak of silver lightning, pursuing them from the distant horizon right up close.

"Roar!"

As it opened its gaping maw, a colossal roar, accompanied by crimson blood energy, surged through the area, causing another two hundred-plus people to explode.

Many felt their scalps tingle with terror. Facing this colossal beast, they had not an ounce of courage to resist. Anyone who dared approach would surely die.

Flight was their only option. The silver tyrannosaurus's blood energy was intensely potent, like raging flames, and they, like fragile souls or spirits, would surely disintegrate upon contact.

Several groups rushed towards the blood-red mountains, intending to ascend, but terrifying crimson lightning crackled around them. With a searing sound, dozens of people instantly convulsed, their souls torn asunder and obliterated by the thunderbolts.

Blocked by blood-red mountains ahead and pursued by the fierce beast from behind, they were filled with utter despair.

Yet, there was nowhere else to hide; only these few mountain peaks seemed capable of deterring the tyrannosaurus.

True to their hope, the tyrannosaurus let out a low growl, not daring to approach too closely. Instead, it opened its maw and unleashed numerous thin beams of silver light, targeting the crowd.

“A pack of feeble spirits, daring to approach the sacred mountain and covet the holy medicine—you shall all perish!”

Like spears of order, swathes of silver light beams descended. Everyone quickly dodged, but those who failed screamed, their bodies smoking before they disintegrated into showers of light, vanishing from existence.

Everyone was severely shaken and felt despair. They were supposed to be cosmic-level geniuses, yet how could they be so fragile upon arriving in this world?

Having just entered this new world, they encountered such a monster, utterly undefeatable. The disparity between them was simply too immense!

Yet, the monster dared not approach closer, seemingly wary of the area. It lingered in the distance, then suddenly inhaled forcefully, creating a silver vortex aimed at a mountain peak, attempting to draw the people there towards it.

However, this behemoth seemed to be specifically targeted. The moment the blood-red mountains sensed its proximity, they glowed intensely, crackling with electrical energy.

At that moment, as it made a slightly larger movement, one of the blood-red mountains boomed, unleashing an incredibly thick bolt of lightning!

The crimson lightning was blindingly fast, tearing through the void before slamming into the silver tyrannosaurus. It shrieked in agony as large patches of its scales fell off and blood spurted.

This lightning was at least Golden Body level, possibly even approaching quasi-saint tier energy. It severely wounded the tyrannosaurus, sending it stumbling backward and leaving a large pool of blood on the ground.

“Damn it!”

The silver tyrannosaurus was furious. It had coveted this place for a long time but had never been able to ascend the blood-red mountains or consume the holy medicine.

Crackle! Pop!

In the distance, a blood-red mountain glowed, discharging numerous arcs of electricity that electrocuted over a dozen evolutionaries, transforming them into shimmering showers of light.

“Everyone be careful,” shouted a person skilled in lightning-based secret arts among the evolutionaries. “Our bio-energy and soul magnetic fields can trigger the blood-red mountains’ sensing. If our fluctuations are too intense, or we get too close to the mountain, we will be struck by lightning.”

Concurrently, a unicorn covered in purple scales stepped forward, remarking, “That tyrannosaurus possesses even more immense life energy, forcing it to remain farther away and preventing it from launching massive attacks. We can choose an appropriate position between the mountain and the fierce beast to maintain both balance and safety.”

“Hmph, you pathetic spirits,” the silver tyrannosaurus sneered, still hovering nearby. “I cannot ascend this sacred mountain, so how much less can you hope to harvest the holy medicine? Dare to approach even half a step, and you are destined to be destroyed by lightning.”

The silver tyrannosaurus’s voice was chilling as it lingered there, still intent on destroying everyone.

Suddenly, piercing and frequent cries echoed from the distance.

The silver tyrannosaurus immediately looked alarmed, then turned and fled, as if genuinely startled.

However, it was too late. Several golden streaks of lightning flashed forth, revealing creatures that, compared to the tyrannosaurus, were not large—only about ten zhang tall.

These were several goat-like monsters with stout, broadsword-like horns. Golden fleshy wings protruded from their sides, and their bodies were covered not in fur, but in golden scales.

They flew incredibly fast, cutting off the tyrannosaurus’s escape route. Each of their horns glowed, unleashing one brilliant saber light after another.

Everyone’s expressions changed. It was raw power of order, condensed into saber light, emanating from their goat-like horns.

"Roar!"

The tyrannosaurus roared, a mix of surprise, rage, and apprehension. Its scales gleamed with silver light as it shot skyward, brandishing its colossal claws and spewing silver light, fiercely engaging the monsters.

The battle became incredibly fierce, with scales constantly falling off.

At the same moment, several blood-red mountains activated, unleashing large bolts of lightning that struck both the goat-like monsters and the tyrannosaurus, forcing them to quickly retreat and shift the battle further away.

Individually, none of the goat-like golden beasts were a match for the tyrannosaurus. However, these were pack animals, and six of them had arrived at once, launching a combined assault.

Each possessed the strength of the late Golden Body realm. United, they coordinated perfectly, forming intricate order runes, their saber lights striking one after another, leaving the Golden Body Grand Completion tyrannosaurus covered in blood and roaring incessantly.

Eventually, the tyrannosaurus fled in disarray.

But suddenly, two golden monsters silently shot up from behind a ridge. Flapping their golden fleshy wings with incredible speed, they sliced open the belly of the tyrannosaurus as it crossed the ridge, causing large amounts of blood to gush out.

“You all deserve to die!”

The tyrannosaurus went berserk, its entire body covered in symbols, all its silver scales flaring open. A soul phantom even burst from its glabella as it fought them desperately, knowing escape was impossible.

The ensuing battle was brutal, with blood splattering everywhere.

Finally, one of the goat-like monsters was struck by the tyrannosaurus’s claw and plummeted to the ground. The silver tyrannosaurus abruptly extended its head, and with a crunch, accompanied by order runes, bit the monster in half.

However, it also suffered severe injuries; its entire body was covered in wounds, all inflicted by the saber lights. With a resounding crash, it fell to the ground, drenched in blood, its skull torn open, and its spiritual light cluster shattered.

Out of the eight golden monsters, one died in battle, another was clearly fatally wounded, and the remaining six were unharmed.

Before the blood-red mountains, everyone fell silent. They had just arrived in this world, only to witness such a bloody and terrifying spectacle. The quasi-saint level tyrannosaurus, moments ago so formidable and powerful, had been slaughtered in the blink of an eye!

What kind of world was this?

The subsequent actions of the six somewhat goat-like monsters astonished everyone; all eyes were fixed on them.

They laid the bodies of the tyrannosaurus and their two fallen companions on the ridge. Then, the six monsters landed there and began to perform a strange art, inhaling and exhaling with rhythmic vibrations.

Both the over 500-meter-tall silver tyrannosaurus and the two ten-zhang-tall golden monsters visibly dimmed and lost their luster, as large showers of light emanated from them.

That was... life source energy and spiritual power!

The six living golden monsters opened their mouths and absorbed the showers of light, some merging into their physical bodies, others into their spiritual light clusters.

After a significant period, their strength had noticeably increased, propelling them closer to the Golden Body Grand Completion realm!

Finally, the six golden monsters rose contentedly and circled in the sky, though they dared not approach the so-called blood-red sacred mountains. After staring at Chu Feng and the others for a moment, they transformed into six streaks of lightning and vanished instantly.

Although they were in a spiritual state, everyone felt as though they had broken into a cold sweat. This world was truly terrifying!

However, many with strong mental fortitude also showed a strange glint in their eyes. They had clearly seen that the abilities employed by the six golden monsters were incredibly potent.

They could actually absorb the life source of the tyrannosaurus and their fallen comrades, along with the most precious spiritual source energy contained within their souls, thereby increasing their own strength in the shortest possible time.

This method was somewhat heaven-defying: gaining strength during battle, and surprisingly, without any side effects.

In the universe they came from, similar forbidden methods existed, but all came with dreadful side effects, ultimately turning practitioners into something monstrous, neither human nor ghost.

Yet, after those golden monsters performed their absorption, it seemed completely natural; there were no signs of any adverse reactions whatsoever.

A single thought emerged in everyone’s mind: Could it be that the creatures of this world possessed incredible strange arts, allowing them to effectively absorb their opponents’ life source energy without suffering any ill effects themselves?

If this were true, it would be utterly heaven-defying, implying that some creatures could continuously grow stronger through battle!

For a long time, silence hung heavy among them.

Finally, some sighed. This might be a world brimming with opportunities, but it was far too perilous.

Subsequently, some people watched the blood-red mountains, maintaining a safe distance and carefully avoiding any energy fluctuations.

“These are potent medicines, similar to Kun Blood Grass and Lin Blood Grass,” someone exclaimed in awe. “They appear to be tens of thousands of years old and are effective even for quasi-saints. They can truly be called holy medicine!”

On each of the blood-red mountains grew a single type of plant, thriving exceptionally well. Every peak bore two or three herbs, crimson as blood and intensely fragrant.

It was astonishing enough for one or two herbs of this caliber to appear, yet these four mountain peaks combined held no fewer than ten.

Evidently, these mountain peaks had once been thoroughly doused with the essence blood of a divine beast. The demise of a mature, peak-strength divine beast here must have led to this extraordinary result.

For the next three days, no one dared to leave the area, feeling it was too dangerous due to their unfamiliarity with the surroundings.

Group after group attempted to ascend the mountains, trying every conceivable method, but all failed, paying with their lives. No one could get close to the holy medicine at the peak!

Even Chu Feng pondered for three days and three nights, but for a while, he was at a loss, unable to find a way to break through the quasi-saint level domain’s protective power.

“The saying goes, ‘dreaming of the Dao for a hundred years in one night,’” Ouyang Feng muttered. “Surely, we aren't actually meant to stay here for a century, are we?”

“We should go out and scout,” someone suggested. “If we remain trapped here, we’ll ultimately gain nothing.”

However, no one was willing to make a move. Who knew if those six golden monsters had gone far? If they truly ventured away from the blood-red mountains, they might instantly become prey.

A faint golden light flickered in Chu Feng’s eyes as he cautiously employed his Fiery Golden Eyes. Even in his spiritual state, he surprisingly possessed this ability.

Moments later, the faint golden glow in his eyes vanished. He approached the others and declared, “I’ll go and take a look!”

Everyone looked surprised. This Wu Lunhui was truly audacious, daring to be the trailblazer. They knew this was a dangerous undertaking, constantly risking life and limb; no one wanted to lead the way out.

“I’ll go with you!” Ouyang Feng declared.

The two set off, running hundreds of miles without pause. Once they reached an uninhabited area, Chu Feng no longer needed to conceal his abilities; golden light blazed in his eyes, allowing him to perceive areas much further away.

“Something’s happening, hide!”

He saw it: in the distance, two Golden Body realm raptors were engaged in a fierce battle, staining the sky with blood. Red feathers continuously drifted down from one of them.

Eventually, one of the fierce birds was killed.

Chu Feng clearly saw the other raptor seize its fallen foe's carcass and land on a mountain peak. It then performed a strange art, its body swelling as large showers of light emanated from the carcass, which it absorbed.

He then distinctly felt the living raptor’s aura grow stronger. This evolutionary path was truly terrifying.

The more creatures killed, the stronger one became—this was tantamount to seizing an opponent’s cultivation and evolutionary foundation. Such a strange art was truly heaven-defying!

“This isn’t an isolated incident,” Chu Feng murmured. “It seems all creatures possess some kind of strange art, and it appears to have no side effects. This is truly groundbreaking; it will lead to the strong becoming even stronger, and the combat power of living creatures will continuously increase.”

Chu Feng shivered. This world seemed incredibly cruel, with many creatures cultivating and evolving through combat.

Moreover, he distinctly felt that among creatures of the same level, the monsters of this world possessed superior combat power compared to the evolutionaries from his own universe; they were simply too ferocious.

This was likely due to their constant engagement in combat, as their practical experience and skills were continuously honed, making them progressively stronger.

“This world is too twisted; even adult divine beasts can die,” Ouyang Feng grumbled. “Old Man Ouyang here has no confidence.” The sight of those blood-red mountains made him tremble, as they were clearly stained crimson by the blood of a divine beast.

The two proceeded cautiously, discovering over a dozen more battlefields and personally witnessing numerous bloody scenes.

Chu Feng confirmed that the evolutionary path for creatures in this world was terrifying: a shortcut existed, allowing them to absorb an opponent’s life source energy and more!

However, different creatures possessed different strange arts, with clear distinctions in power and vastly differing efficiencies.

Much like breathing techniques, different levels yielded vastly different effects.

“This is simply revolutionary,” Chu Feng mused. “On the path of evolution, this represents a major upheaval. And this is just a small shortcut? If we could only master…”

The two exchanged a look, their eyes burning with fervor. They realized that if they could master a sufficiently powerful strange art, their path forward would become incredibly broad, transforming into a grand golden road.
