Chapter 55: Silver-winged Divine Being

Other mutated individuals also sensed something, looking towards a particular mountain from which an unsettling stir emanated.

When their bodies mutated and they awakened special abilities, the five senses of mutated individuals all became enhanced, though to varying degrees.

The depths of White Serpent Ridge suddenly fell silent.

People detected a faint but distinct pungent smell wafting from a nearby peak. It was not human in origin; it had to be from a ferocious beast!

"Be careful, and stay alert! A mutated beast might be approaching!" a man warned.

Human mutations had been consistently reported since their initial appearance. Mutated beasts certainly existed, yet they seldom entered the public's view. No one could say how many mutated beasts currently existed because they were dormant, hidden in humanity's blind spots, and largely overlooked. Very few had ever seen a mutated beast!

"Crack!"

The abrupt sound was followed by rocks falling from the mountain, revealing a widening crack. Then, the mountain wall fractured in all directions with a tremendous boom. Many rocks fell and tumbled down, causing an immense commotion as they smashed through numerous old trees.

Smoke billowed from the site, and a massive head with a single horn emerged, surfacing from within the mountain! It was a ferocious, incredibly massive beast, covered in hideous greenish scales.

"What kind of monster is that?"

A great commotion erupted, and everyone quickly retreated. A pungent, foul smell assailed their nostrils. As it opened its mouth, smoke and fire dispersed, carrying the stench of sulfur, turning rocks and vegetation to ash.

Boom!

It crawled out of the fissure in the mountain, revealing its full form. Its entire body appeared to be cast from a bluish-green metal, gleaming with a cold, metallic luster. At the same time, it emitted a foul smell, as if perpetually hunting prey, permeated with the strong stench of blood.

Measuring twelve to thirteen meters long, it resembled a crocodile with bristling scales, yet possessed a single horn on its head—the very horn that had shattered the mountain wall. Its immense brute force was evident; its horn was incredibly hard, and its physical body was absurdly powerful!

"It's not a crocodile, it's more like a pangolin!" someone whispered.

Upon hearing this, people noticed the strong resemblance. However, its immense size revealed just how astonishingly its physique had improved after mutation.

The monster's eyes were cold as it scanned the numerous mutated individuals, showing no alarm or fear, its terrifying head held high. People noticed a large, dark cave behind it; no one knew how deep it was or where it led.

"It truly lives up to its name as a pangolin, and now even more so!" someone sighed.

People retreated, unwilling to confront it. The monster exuded an oppressive feeling and radiated a terrifying aura that made everyone uneasy. As it moved, some people's expressions shifted! Every time its thick claws landed, rocks and large trees in its path shattered; nothing could stop it.

Crunch!

Everyone clearly saw a thousand-pound boulder directly smashed apart by its claw as it passed, rendering all obstacles useless. Its goal was obvious: to reach the peculiar small tree in White Serpent Ridge. A cold, eerie light gleamed in its pupils, and its speed was astonishing.

"No! Stop it!" someone yelled.

So many mutated individuals were here, waiting for the purple-gold pine cones to ripen, yet none had made a move. Was some random ferocious beast just going to snatch the prize before them?

"Bang, bang, bang..."

Just then, individuals from Heavenly God Biotech took action. Several of them pulled triggers, firing large-caliber firearms at the beast with ferocious firepower. The mutated individuals' expressions changed. If those bullets were aimed at *them*, could they dodge them? Could they withstand them directly?

"Clang, clang, clang..."

Sparks flew, and a shocking thing occurred: when the bullets struck the monster, they clanged like metal hitting metal, piercingly loud, generating sheets of sparks. The monster's scales were harder than steel; bullets couldn't penetrate them. They merely clanged loudly upon impact, sending sparks flying—a truly terrifying sight.

Was that still a body of flesh and blood? To what extent had it evolved that it could withstand bullets directly? This was something many mutated individuals yearned for, yet it was happening to a mutated beast.

"Roar!"

The monster roared, enraged. It suddenly leaped up with incredible, unimaginable speed, like a streak of greenish lightning.

"Ah..."

The few individuals wielding large-caliber firearms screamed in terror. In that instant, they didn't even succeed in escaping. From tens of meters away, the monster reached them in a single pounce, pinning them all down. The scene was too bloody; their screams abruptly ceased. Several pools of bloody mud were left on the ground.

The monster's eyes were cold as it scanned its surroundings, then once again advanced towards the small tree, seemingly intent on intimidating everyone and asserting its dominance through brutal means. How could its speed be so incredible? One pounce, swift as lightning, and it had reached its target. This seemed inconsistent with its massive size; there wasn't a hint of clumsiness. It was agile, ruthless, precise, and lethal in a single strike!

"Kill it!" someone from Heavenly God Biotech commanded, their voice cold. It was just a mutated beast, yet it had cost them several elites. Large-caliber firearms were supposed to have a deterrent effect here, yet those few had died so miserably.

"Boom!"

From a mountain peak, someone carrying a rocket launcher fired downwards. A tongue of flame shot out, breaking the sound barrier with a tremendous roar! With a thud, the rocket hit the monster's body!

"Die!" someone on the peak shouted, awaiting the result.

Dust and smoke billowed from the spot. The monster was knocked back, staggering, then rolled away. Its outer skin was broken, bleeding profusely, and many scales had fallen off, but it wasn't severely injured; it was still perfectly alive. It flipped over and immediately got back up, its eyes glinting with hatred. It raised its head and let out a bloodcurdling shriek, its eyes turning blood red.

Boom!

Its movements were incredibly fast; it rampaged through the area, slaughtering any human it encountered. Before, it had killed ordinary humans with guns, but now it targeted mutated individuals, and the outcome was still one-sided. Its massive body didn't hinder its agility; it moved like lightning, covering tens of meters in a single leap. Wherever it passed, blood constantly splattered.

"Ah..."

Many mutated individuals screamed; they couldn't stop it at all and were no match for it.

One mutated individual's body suddenly expanded, becoming like an ancient tree covered in old bark, extending massive branches. This was a very mysterious ability. He grew to over ten meters tall, transforming into a humanoid ancient tree. Its branches pierced towards the ground, and with a bang, earth and stone shattered, exhibiting immense power.

However, the tree-man still couldn't pierce the monster's scales. The monster leaped, extending a claw. With a snapping sound, it tore off the tree-man's arm-like branches. Blood spurted out; it was extremely brutal.

Thud!

Then, the monster opened its massive bloody maw and bit the ancient tree in half.

"Ah!"

That mutated individual screamed, dying instantly. This was spine-chilling. A very powerful mutated individual had died so horribly. How could it be resisted? Over a dozen weaker mutated individuals had already died in mere instants. This monster was impossible to contend with. All mutated individuals possessed extraordinary abilities, capable of recreating some mythical feats, yet they were powerless against this monster.

Thud, thud, thud...

The monster's speed was too great; its massive body tore through all obstacles, crushing everything in its path. In the blink of an eye, dozens of people had died violently.

"Run!" someone yelled.

However, anyone nearby couldn't escape; they were no match for the monster's speed. It covered forty to fifty meters in a single bound, moving swiftly like a streak of greenish lightning—an utterly terrifying sight.

"Ah..."

On a nearby mountain peak, the person who had fired the rocket suddenly screamed.

"What's happening?"

"Oh my god, there's another monster!"

People saw another monster crawl out of the original cave. It still resembled a pangolin and was similar in size to the first, clearly a male and a female. The newly appeared monster moved with agility, bringing with it a fierce wind, destroying large swathes of trees. It charged up the mountain peak, slaughtering all the individuals wielding firearms.

Then, this monster let out a terrifying, long howl to the sky from the peak, a sound with dreadful penetrative power that made many mutated individuals cover their ears.

Thud!

The next moment, it leaped from the mountaintop, landing heavily on the ground, instantly flattening several mutated individuals into a bloody mess. Both monsters, with their hard scales, were unafraid of firearms, immensely strong, and incredibly fast—simply unstoppable. They converged and charged towards the peculiar small tree.

Everyone's hair stood on end. These creatures were like ferocious beasts from prehistoric myths; it was unclear how far they stood from becoming as legendary as the Taotie, Taowu, or Qiongqi.

Roar!

Two streaks of greenish lightning moved at extreme speed, leaving miles behind in the blink of an eye. Along the way, nearly eighty mutated individuals were slaughtered by them.

They were about to reach the small tree, which bore a pine cone the size of an adult's fist. It glimmered purple, emitting a fragrant scent that spread far. Many were stunned: in the end, would the fruit of that peculiar small tree belong to the two monsters? Would all these mutated individuals who had rushed here simply watch? Many felt unwilling to accept this, but they dared not step forward; the monsters were too bloody and brutal.

Nearly eighty mutated individuals, all powerful, had met a tragic end. Not a single intact body was left behind. How strong must these two mutated beasts be? Simply immeasurable!

"Get out of the way!"

Just then, a cold shout suddenly rang out in mid-air. A man arrived at extreme speed, transforming into an incomparably brilliant streak of silver light that illuminated the sky. His voice wasn't loud, but it was deterrent, subduing the two monsters. The brilliant silver light arrived at extreme speed. Drawing close, he stood in mid-air.

"The Silver-Winged Heavenly God!"

Many people looked up, saw this scene, and couldn't help but shout out, becoming extremely invigorated and excited. It was a young man, tall and upright, his entire body emitting silver light, like a deity standing in mid-air. One could see that the light was holy and pure, dazzlingly silver, like a large divine moon that enveloped the man, making him appear extraordinary and transcendent.

"Roar!"

On the ground, one monster roared, then suddenly leaped, soaring dozens of meters into the sky. It extended its sharp massive claws and opened its bloody maw, pouncing towards the man. It was incredibly fast, arriving in the blink of an eye, like greenish lightning tearing through the air, causing everyone to gasp in surprise.

"Whoosh!"

However, with a flash of silver light, the young man vanished from his spot, directly avoiding the bloody maw. Furthermore, his figure moved again, launching a fierce attack. A pair of silver wings unfolded from his back, emitting holy radiance that illuminated the sky! Then, he swooped down, striking the monster's midsection horizontally!

A blinding silver light erupted, preventing many from opening their eyes. It felt as if a silver sun had exploded in the sky, dazzling beyond measure.

Splat!

Blood splattered, and large amounts of blood rained down from the sky. The monster let out a bloodcurdling howl; it was severed into two pieces and fell from the sky.

At that moment, everyone was stunned! How incredibly powerful was that? Even rockets couldn't kill the monster or penetrate its body, yet it was directly cut in half by the figure in the sky! Some people clearly understood: the young man swooped down, his silver wings glowing on his back, striking down like a divine blade that cleaved the monster's body open. This shocking scene stunned everyone.

The young man stood in mid-air. He possessed silver hair that reached his waist and was very handsome. His eyes gleamed with silver light, and his demeanor, though slightly cold, made him appear even more transcendent. With a pair of silver wings folded behind his back, his entire body radiated light, as if a god had descended upon the world. This person was truly exceptional!

"The Silver-Winged Heavenly God!"

After a brief silence, many people shouted out. How astonishing such a display of power was, easily slaying such a terrifying monster and leaving everyone stunned.

"Truly worthy of being at the pinnacle, absurdly strong, leaving one speechless," someone exclaimed in admiration.

Especially some female mutated individuals screamed loudly, continuously chanting "Silver-Winged Heavenly God." Even from the direction of Bodhi Gene, the nation's goddess, Ding Sitong, was gazing intently, divine radiance flowing in her beautiful pupils. Any mutated individual could discern that the previous strike was utterly unparalleled.

"Ding Sitong, my goddess, look over here! I'm here!" Zhou Quan shamelessly seized the opportunity amidst the chaos, standing on a mountaintop and yelling loudly towards Ding Sitong.

As mutated individuals, their five senses were extremely keen. Ding Sitong actually heard him. She turned, glanced in his direction, and was immediately stunned to see three "minotaurs." Then, she covered her mouth with a delicate hand and offered a faint, radiant smile.

Zhou Quan was thrilled, jumping and shouting. Yellow Ox couldn't stand it and angrily almost kicked him off the mountain.

Chu Feng was pondering, evaluating the Silver-Winged Heavenly God's combat power. That strike was indeed terrifying, directly severing the monster in half. How sharp must those wings be? Even rockets couldn't penetrate the monster, yet he could easily cleave it open!
