Chapter 1148: Terrifying Island

Old Gu was furious. He was now convinced that people from his elder brother’s lineage were involved, colluding with the descendants of his sworn enemy, Madman Wu. This was intolerable!

By the island, the Heavenly Golden Stone Coffin glowed, emitting a bloody mist. Old Gu used a special secret method to touch the dark token near the azure sea. He confirmed it emitted an unknown fluctuation, having been activated recently. This was one of the key tokens for entering the island; only those of Li’s lineage could activate it!

Outside the island, a terrifying light barrier formed by fragments of time enveloped the entire colossal island. It was extremely dangerous; without Li’s authorization, entering the island was impossible.

“Damn it!” Old Gu exclaimed, seething with anger.

Chu Feng tried to console him, saying, “Don’t be angry. This isn’t the prehistoric era anymore. Most of your elder brother’s descendants are likely long gone. Who knows who inherited the legacy now?”

“I hope so!” Old Gu remained indignant. His elder brother had been a hero his entire life; if someone from his lineage betrayed him to join Madman Wu, it would be utterly ridiculous and a true disgrace.

“Kid, we’re counting on you. We need to enter secretly, not through this path,” Old Gu told Chu Feng. If that dark token were activated again, piercing the light barrier, those inside would surely sense their presence.

“Understood!” Chu Feng nodded, then took Old Gu and the Northeast Tiger into the stone jar, preparing to cross into the island.

In this era, apart from Li’s lineage token and anomalies like Madman Wu, there was theoretically no other way to reach the island. The time runes, though seemingly faint, were truly terrifying. They involved the power of time, capable of instantly aging a person into a frail, white-haired wretch. Even with immense power, one had to be discreet here. Even a renowned powerhouse from the Yang Realm, if they dared to force their way in, would be annihilated.

Inside the sealed stone jar, both Chu Feng and the Northeast Tiger felt an inexplicable tremor. The jar shook violently, as if an earthquake was occurring. All this happened as they began their journey. Once hidden inside, Chu Feng propelled the jar directly into the swirling time fragments. Any other object would have been instantly pulverized—it would have been a death wish! In this area, even treasures personally refined by a Heavenly Venerable couldn't penetrate. Anyone daring to force their way in would be utterly crushed to dust. The stone jar, defying all odds, remained unharmed.

“That’s terrifying!” The Northeast Tiger’s face was pale. Even within the jar, he felt waves of dread, as if a great calamity was unfolding.

Old Gu explained, “Many powerhouses battled here, collectively flattening this forbidden zone long ago. They paid a massive price, and the remnants left behind are naturally terrifying to the extreme.”

“Boom!” As he spoke, the stone jar gave one final jolt, then settled, no longer buffeted by external forces.

“We made it through, we’re on the island,” Chu Feng announced; they had succeeded.

He cautiously opened a crack in the stone jar. Before doing so, he had, of course, covered himself entirely with Reincarnation Soil for protection, as this island was certainly no benevolent place. True to his precaution, as soon as the jar opened, their bodies trembled violently, and their soul-light flickered as if on the verge of exploding!

Black clouds shrouded the island’s sky, dense electromagnetic storms raged, and blood rain poured down, suffocating anyone caught in it.

“This is horrifying! If we didn’t have a treasure to protect us, we’d turn into pulp the moment we landed on this island. This malevolent energy is simply too overwhelming!” The Northeast Tiger shivered. Both the electromagnetic storms and the torrential blood rain were utterly terrifying; even a drop would instantly destroy them.

Chu Feng attempted to throw out a divine-grade weapon. Instantly, in the blood rain, it became pitted and horribly corroded. Then, an electromagnetic flash passed through, and with a crack, the divine sword disintegrated. This was a land of despair! Even though it had been erased from the records of the Yang Realm and no longer harbored living beings, it could still be called a forbidden zone of life. How many would dare to set foot here?

At this moment, with a crack opened in the stone jar’s lid, the Reincarnation Soil covering them began to glow, becoming faintly crystalline.

“Old Gu, are you familiar with this island? Which way do we go?!” Chu Feng asked. This place was too sinister. Even with the stone jar protecting them, Chu Feng felt uneasy, fearing they might inadvertently stumble into a death trap.

“Don’t rush to move,” Old Gu said. “Let me see who exactly has arrived on this island!” Old Gu continued, explaining that if a Heavenly Venerable had indeed arrived, there would be no point in fighting; retreating would be their safest option. If their opponent could land on the island, they clearly had significant backing, and if they were also a Heavenly Venerable, how could they possibly contend?

Wisps of bloody qi emerged from the Heavenly Golden Stone Coffin, flying out of the fist-sized stone jar. But as soon as they left its confines, they sizzled and were evaporated. This island was simply too terrifying. Even Old Gu, despite having recovered to the level of a high-tier Divine King, was still not powerful enough here.

“Let’s get closer to that Madman Wu; his runes have created a safe zone. We should approach it,” Old Gu instructed. It had to be admitted that the scriptures brought by Madman Wu’s lineage were terrifying. They burned and turned, conjuring an image of Madman Wu, who sat cross-legged in the void, forcibly creating an open space. In that area, there were no electromagnetic storms and no blood rain; it was remarkably peaceful.

Old Gu tried again, but this time, as the blood mist spread, it was met with a terrifying boom, igniting instantly and turning to ash. The Heavenly Golden Stone Coffin vibrated, and Old Gu let out a muffled groan. “Madman Wu is truly perverse,” he said. “This is just a scripture he blessed, yet it’s so powerful!”

After multiple attempts and nearby exploration, Old Gu managed to capture some lingering auras. In the blood mist, a few figures appeared, allowing him to deduce that no Heavenly Venerable was present. Chu Feng was astonished. In such a terrifying, desolate land—a forbidden zone where even divine consciousness would be dissolved—Old Gu still possessed the means to uncover the truth. It was truly extraordinary. It had to be said, Old Gu was truly remarkable, worthy of being called a great prehistoric powerhouse!

“Let’s go, head towards the center of the island. If we arrive too late, I fear they will have already harvested the Bloodline Fruits. Once that fruit ripens, the mother tree will wither for many years.”

Chu Feng and his companions set off, using the power of the stone jar and Reincarnation Soil to traverse the torrential blood rain. Naturally, they dared not enter the bright area where Madman Wu’s illusory form resided. To enter there would surely invite a terrible attack! This bright area was continuous, or more precisely, a long, narrow strip leading to the island’s center, implicitly forming a safe path. Even Chu Feng conceded that Madman Wu was truly extraordinary; just a few bestowed scriptures were enough to create a sanctuary within this desolate land, preserving his descendants.

They proceeded in silence, their hearts heavy, sensing the true terror of a genuinely powerful figure. If such a being were to arrive in person, they would undoubtedly be capable of anything.

“How perverse,” the Northeast Tiger muttered. “This is a real Kunpeng corpse. Could we perhaps pluck a few feathers?” Even though the Northeast Tiger had lowered his expectations, not daring to touch the flesh and blood and only wanting a few feathers, it was still unrealistic.

Old Gu retorted, “Stop daydreaming. Every creature on this island is permeated with intense malevolent energy. Touching their blood, feathers, or anything else means certain death!” In short, their collective strength was simply too low! Forget the Northeast Tiger; even Old Gu, having just broken through his cultivation, wouldn't dare touch the Kunpeng’s corpse.

“How beautiful,” the Northeast Tiger murmured, his eyes wide. “This is a white Qilin, a creature exceptionally rare in the world, the most auspicious among auspicious beasts, yet it met a tragic end here.” A snow-white Qilin lay dead before them, its blood staining the ground.

“Huh, this Madman Wu is a small old man!” Chu Feng was surprised. Along the way, they naturally saw burning scriptures again, but the Madman Wu figure hovering three feet above the ground was thin, withered, and shriveled, like a withered old man. Upon closer inspection, the outlines of his eyes and brows bore a resemblance to the earlier demonic and domineering middle-aged man.

“These are scriptures he blessed at different periods, texts he created at various stages of his life!” Old Gu’s expression was solemn. This shriveled old man was ancient, resembling Madman Wu from the era when he contended with Li.

The Northeast Tiger asked, “So, the tall, bare-chested Madman Wu we saw earlier was an incarnation from his youth?”

“Not necessarily,” Old Gu sighed. “It could be his appearance from an even more ancient period.”

“That’s impossible, he grows younger with age?” the Northeast Tiger exclaimed in shock.

Old Gu grew anxious. “What’s impossible about that?” he retorted. “What’s truly terrifying is if his vital energy becomes even more vigorous the longer he lives. In that case, even if my elder brother were reborn, he might not be able to suppress him.”

As they continued, they witnessed many terrifying sights. They saw a Golden Crow, dead and dismembered, its blood splattered across the desolate land, its eyes wide open in death. It was horrifying to imagine what terrible events it had endured; its head had been severed, and a chilling black claw mark marred its forehead. Its brain matter had spilled out, still undried and unrotted, a ghastly white mass.

“This is… a divine bird, and it died so tragically?!” Many of the creatures on this island had been slaughtered by a single entity!

Ahead, numerous corpses floated in the air. Despite the raging electromagnetic storms and the intertwining blood rain and lightning, the vast collection of bodies simply refused to sink, remaining suspended. These were the corpses of prehistoric cultivators. Why did they remain uncorrupted, undestroyed by the island’s malevolent energy? Chu Feng’s mind was filled with questions.

Old Gu explained, “Don’t overthink it. This island is simply sinister. Even before all the experts in the Yang Realm launched a joint attack, this desolate land was like this, strewn with countless uncorrupted and indestructible corpses. They were all spoils of war for the former island master, cursed to forever be corpse servants, unable to return to dust or escape their horrifying, miserable state.”

Chu Feng was inwardly shocked; the former island master, the one who ruled this desolate place, had been truly terrifying. It was clear without much thought: the creatures who died here were all powerhouses from successive eras, forcibly enslaved as corpse servants, never to be reborn. This was a form of cruel torture.

The Northeast Tiger mumbled, “So many years have passed, why are the corpses of the fallen powerhouses still in their original state? Could it be that the island master isn’t dead yet?”

Upon hearing this, not only did Chu Feng feel a chill, but Old Gu also sharply inhaled. Back then, all the powerhouses in the Yang Realm had united to attack this place, yet a third of them were still annihilated. It had been a true catastrophe! That battle had a clear outcome: this forbidden land was leveled, and the island master had died tragically. Today, if it were publicly announced that the creature might still be alive, it would likely cause widespread panic in the Yang Realm.

“I believe he must be dead,” Old Gu said, though with a hint of hesitation. “Otherwise, my elder brother wouldn’t have transformed this place into his backyard.”

“Who cares?” the Northeast Tiger interjected. “If the sky falls, the taller ones will hold it up. We’re only here for the Bloodline Fruits today; nothing else matters!”

Chu Feng also nodded. Delving deeper into such matters would only be unsettling and was beyond their current concerns. “Even if this creature isn’t completely dead, it’s likely too weak to revive and reappear,” Chu Feng said, propelling the stone jar forward quickly. “Otherwise, how would anyone even be able to land on this island?”

Along the way, they saw a total of four piles of scriptures, burning with Dao runes, each supporting a terrifying, infinitely powerful image of Madman Wu from a different era. These figures suppressed a section of the void, radiating brilliant light.

“We’ve arrived!” As they neared the island’s center, they spotted several creatures, and more importantly, a dazzling ancient tree laden with fruits that emitted blinding light.

It was… the ancient Bloodline Fruit tree!
