Long Dayu had been fleeing for a day, and it was truly a miserable, tearful, and utterly disheartening experience. The "cultivation of the heart in the mortal world" he had anticipated was proving far beyond his imagination.
He finally understood why he was being pursued.
"I've been wronged!" he roared from a mountaintop, shouting towards the distant city and a group of people flying his way.
Yet, each of them stared at him with eyes like beacons, as if he were a pile of sacred texts or a heap of primal gold weapons. Not only their eyes, but even their body hair seemed to glow, and they were all as agitated as if they had consumed phoenix blood.
Long Dayu saw the situation, turned, and fled, wailing mournfully, "Alas, this young dragon leaves the Great Wilderness only to bear all the world's blame!" He shouted this with a mouthful of blood, feeling utterly wronged.
After years of lying dormant and enduring patiently, he had finally emerged with high spirits. But on his very first day, he had barely shown his face before being saddled with a huge scapegoat!
Was there no justice left?
"Has there been any dragon more low-key than me in recent years?" he fumed. "It's utter darkness! I hid underground, concealed in ancient tombs and ruins, never seeing the light of day, yet today, blame still falls from the sky!"
But who would believe him? The group behind him certainly didn't, pursuing him relentlessly.
Long Dayu's heart bled. He had used several void-breaking talismans in a single day and finally managed to escape with blood in his throat, hiding deep within the mountains and ancient forests, daring not to emerge for now.
"Ji Dade, you bastard!"
Two days later, he cautiously investigated, fully understanding the truth, which infuriated him to the point of stomping his feet.
The reason for his being wanted had been clarified: someone, wielding the Heavenblood Starry Sky Primal Gold Sword, committed a crime in the Immortal Waterfall, and as a result, the blame was dumped squarely on him.
There was no need to even think about it: the other wanted criminal, Ji Dade, was the real culprit. Why had Long Dayu ended up as the primary suspect?
Looking at the bounty, although Ji Dade was also wanted, his reward wasn't even a fraction of Long Dayu's!
Long Dayu was so angry he nearly vomited blood, trembling all over. This was truly an unprovoked calamity.
"I came to the mortal world... to cultivate my heart," he muttered. He was still trembling, utterly infuriated, but he tried his best to comfort himself, saying, "So be it. Bear the darkest blame, forge the strongest heart."
But he remained unwilling. He was bearing the blame, wanted across the entire Yang Realm. Where was the real culprit? That detestable Ji Dade!
"Achoo!" Chu Feng sneezed. He felt a little guilty, wondering how many people must be thinking about him; their resentment was probably endless.
At least he knew the Great Evil Spirit hated him to death and probably wanted to dismember him immediately. And then Long Dayu just happened to appear at this inconvenient time, conveniently taking a huge fall for him, which left Chu Feng speechless.
Chu Feng mused that if that strange dragon knew where he was, it would certainly rush over immediately to fight him to the death.
"But you can't blame me," Chu Feng said, admittedly lacking confidence. "Everyone in the Yang Realm thinks you did it; it's not like I'm framing you."
Old Gu exposed him, saying, "Then why don't you quickly clarify and tell the outside world that you actually did it all?"
"Old Gu, you're siding with outsiders!" Chu Feng glared at him, now brimming with confidence, and quoted, "When Heaven is about to confer a great office upon a man, it first exercises his mind with suffering, and his sinews and bones with toil. This is the best tempering for him! Come on, let's go tour these magnificent rivers and mountains!"
The Northeast Tiger, now with red lips, white teeth, fair skin, and clear eyes, looking like a handsome young man, said, "Brother, speak plainly. What do you want to do now?"
Chu Feng waved his hand and said, "While Long Dayu is being pursued by the Mo family and all attention is on him, let's strike back and do something big on the Mo family's territory!"
The Northeast Tiger widened his eyes and said, "If Long Dayu knew this, wouldn't he go crazy? He's already gone this far, bearing such a huge blame for you, and now you want to use him as a shield to stir up trouble. Wouldn't that be... a bit unethical?"
"What are you talking about? Let's go!" Chu Feng and the others set off again.
They set off again because their last sudden raid on the Mo family's divine mines had yielded huge gains.
Those several minerals were truly invaluable, all auxiliary materials for refining the Minor Heavenly Pill. If he could find a few more types, he could open a furnace and refine pills, bringing forth the prehistoric Minor Heavenly Pill once more.
In the borderlands, Holly had him boil his body with minerals. The large pills made from those residues weighed several kilograms, supposedly the present-day Minor Heavenly Pill, but their medicinal efficacy was far inferior to the prehistoric version.
This was simply because various rare and precious materials were missing, difficult to collect in this era, and could only be substituted with other minerals.
Over the years, Chu Feng had searched far and wide, gathering most of the necessary materials. If he could truly gather them all and refine the Minor Heavenly Pill using ancient methods, the effects would be incredibly astonishing.
In the borderlands, Chu Feng had boiled his body with various minerals for one or two years, yet it couldn't compare to consuming even a single prehistoric Minor Heavenly Pill!
Thus, utilizing his domain methods and under the protection of the stone jar, Chu Feng once again successfully raided several of the Mo family's ancient mines, all located in remote and lightly guarded areas.
He acquired two more minerals, both urgently needed.
"What? The Black Stone Orchid mine was stolen?" When the Mo family received the news, all the veteran kings were furious.
Even one of the Mo family's Celestial Venerables slammed the table in anger, shattering the entire grand hall into pieces.
Being robbed like this was a humiliation, but more critically, some of the stolen minerals were extraordinary.
The Black Stone Orchid was an extremely rare and special mineral. It was a black, stone-like orchid; though it resembled a plant, it wasn't, and though it was a mineral, it could grow on its own.
Now, the Black Stone Orchids in that ancient mine had their roots dug out, making regeneration impossible.
This mineral was useful for both Divine Kings and Celestial Venerables, as it could be refined into medicinal powders they needed and was a very rare auxiliary material.
"Ah, the Immortal King's Earth mine has also been emptied?!"
More bad news kept coming, further enraging the Mo family.
But it was too late for anything; both mines were already barren, completely plundered clean.
"Mo family, I warn you, framing me like this is courting death. I, Long Dayu, will seek revenge!" After recuperating for two days, Long Dayu finally couldn't help but speak out.
In his opinion, the Mo family should clear his name and lift the bounty; otherwise, if pushed too far, he guaranteed the Mo family would regret it.
Chu Feng was momentarily speechless. This strange dragon truly had bad luck; he had just finished plundering, and the dragon jumped out to make a statement, which only made things more complicated.
Sure enough, within the Mo family, someone angrily overturned a jade table and shattered a cave dwelling, immediately raising the bounty by a significant margin, almost doubling it.
"The Mo family never accepts threats," came the reply. "You dare to plunder our divine mines and then intimidate us like this? Just wait for death!"
Long Dayu was dumbfounded and finally couldn't help but curse, "What the heck!"
From then on, he hid everywhere, truly not daring to show his face for a while. When he learned that the Mo family had been plundered, he was speechless and appealed to the heavens; it was truly a situation where he was wrongfully accused and couldn't clear his name.
"Though the divine tortoise lives long, its time still ends; though the winged serpent rides the mists, it ultimately turns to dust," Chu Feng sighed with emotion.
He set off, heading east, crossing the Eastern Divine Continent and venturing deep into the endless ocean, searching for an island.
Boom!
The sea was magnificent, with surging waves. Unknown sea beasts stirred up waves that seemed to shatter the clouds, a truly grand sight.
"I wonder if there are any immortal evolvers in this sea," Chu Feng muttered.
Old Gu said, "Stop dreaming. Everyone dies sooner or later. Since ancient times, no ultimate evolutionary creature has ever appeared in the Yang Realm."
"Ancient One, is your memory reliable? Is the Bloodline Fruit truly in this area?" the Northeast Tiger asked, trying to cozy up, no longer calling him "Old Gu" but instead using a more respectful, almost reversed address.
He desperately wanted to get rid of his donkey form and re-evolve into a tiger, desiring the transcendent bloodline of a white tiger or black tiger. If he could possess the alien desolate tiger bloodline, that would be even better.
"Search slowly, it's in this area," Old Gu said.
Yielding to the Northeast Tiger's request, Chu Feng and his companions crossed the Eastern Divine Continent and came here, hoping to find the Bloodline Tree.
That was a wondrous tree whose fruits defied creation. After consumption, they could cause a sudden mutation in one's bloodline, excavating and thoroughly strengthening certain hidden genes within the body.
Old Gu warned, "Let me tell you, the prerequisite is that your physical body's ancestors once possessed a trace of tiger bloodline; otherwise, consuming the Bloodline Fruit will be useless."
The Northeast Tiger was dumbfounded upon hearing this. How could a donkey's body have a tiger's bloodline? Wasn't this a trick?
Old Gu said, "What do you know? In the prehistoric era, demon races ran rampant across the land, incredibly rampant. Various fierce beasts intermarried and formed alliances, with little regard for purity. How else would pure-blooded creatures become so rare today? It all started with those bad examples back then."
The Northeast Tiger felt increasingly uncomfortable as he listened. "Are you trying to tell me that I might have all sorts of messy ancestors," he said, "possibly including tigers, jackals, dragons, and houn, making me a hybrid?"
Old Gu nodded and said, "That's pretty much what I mean. Many ordinary beasts might have had distinguished ancestors, let alone a donkey spirit like you, who can transform and gain intelligence; your ancestors should have had extraordinary bloodlines."
"Do you think I have the bloodline of a phoenix or a prehistoric celestial dragon?" the Northeast Tiger asked shamelessly, desiring a more dominant bloodline.
"Go wait over there," Old Gu scoffed. "Do you think your messy, impure bloodline necessarily means you have many great ancestors?"
The Northeast Tiger's face darkened. "Stop talking," he said. "This 'hybrid bloodline' sounds more and more like an insult. Don't mock me!"
A grand and vast misty island, surrounded by terrifying, fluttering fragments of time, lay deep within the azure sea.
This place was impossible for ordinary people to find. After Old Gu arrived in this sea area, he continuously deduced until he finally found a spatial node and led Chu Feng and the others to break through.
Then they saw the entire massive island, entangled by terrifying fragments of time.
The azure sea was boundless, black clouds rolled, and dense electromagnetic storms intertwined above the island, as blood-colored torrential rain poured down.
On the island, not a blade of grass grew, and it was exceptionally crimson. There were also many fallen mountains, and broken, dried-up rivers, presenting a scene of utter desolation and ruin.
This was a secret realm; if Old Gu hadn't found that spatial node, they wouldn't have discovered it at all.
Chu Feng gasped. This was not a simple place; even if one could pass through the outer light barrier of the island covered by time fragments, the interior was still terrifying and somewhat unsettling.
"What kind of place is this?" The Northeast Tiger also felt a chill.
"A place that can give birth to Bloodline Fruits, what did you think it was, a pure land? Such fruits can defy heaven and change fate!" Old Gu sneered, finally revealing that this was once a forbidden land, famous in the Yang Realm, but it was eventually shattered in battle.
"In that battle, at least one-third of the Yang Realm's experts perished," Old Gu said, his words deliberately shocking. "All to eradicate this forbidden land!"
Chu Feng's heart grew heavy. He didn't disbelieve it, because when he opened his Fiery Golden Eyes to look inside, he was immediately filled with awe and trepidation.
"Is that a Kunpeng?!" he exclaimed, surprised and uncertain.
Beneath the black clouds, amidst electromagnetic storms, and in the pouring blood rain, near a broken mountain lay a massive creature entwined with black lightning and silvery-white electric arcs. It was a gigantic bird, half-fish, half-roc, sprawled in a gruesome death, covered in wounds. Its skull cap had been torn open, and its golden feathers were still burning, the flames unextinguished.
This was still the outer perimeter of the island; looking further inside, there were other terrifying figures, humanoid beings seated cross-legged in mid-air, their temples pierced by glowing crimson war spears, covered in blood, dead yet not falling to the ground.
"It's a bit eerie, Old Gu, and a little creepy," the Northeast Tiger muttered softly.
Old Gu sighed, "Back then, to eradicate this place, countless experts died. The Yang Realm suffered greatly, with its experts nearly wiped out. This was also the result of other forbidden lands lending a hand, helping the Yang Realm forces to jointly eradicate this place. Otherwise, this place might truly have remained prosperous to this day, awe-inspiring throughout history."
"It was finally eradicated. This is a good place!" The Northeast Tiger's eyes glowed with a mixture of shock and excitement. "Look, the endless corpses would be incredible for refining artifacts!"
Old Gu scoffed, "Don't even think about it. With your meager cultivation, if you step onto the island and even a drop of blood touches you, you'll melt away completely."
Furthermore, he solemnly informed them that this was an island his eldest brother had secretly locked down back then, and it had become a secret realm solely under his eldest brother's control.
Outsiders couldn't find this place at all; without Old Gu, that spatial node would have been almost impossible to discover.
"Did your eldest brother also participate in the battle?" Chu Feng asked.
"No," Old Gu said, shaking his head. "The great war had ended many years before he was born."
Back then, Li was able to lock down this island and claim it as his own, which required considerable effort. Only then did this place become his private garden.
"Let me tell you, the Bloodline Fruit is incredibly heaven-defying, even more terrifying than you imagine," Old Gu continued. "If one is lucky enough, it can enable ordinary creatures to develop an alien desolate bloodline, let alone for powerful experts."
Old Gu's expression was solemn. This was a place for defying heaven and changing destiny!
For a moment, Chu Feng and the Northeast Tiger were both stunned.
Suddenly, faint, ethereal chanting sounds passed through the light barrier formed by the time fragments, drawing the attention of all three, especially startling Old Gu.
"Impossible!" Old Gu exclaimed. "This place was locked down by my eldest brother. Who could find it? Who could get in?!"
But then, he was shocked, he trembled, and he whispered, "What the f***! We've run into someone big, the most ruthless person. Damn it, the Martial Lunatic is here!"
Vaguely, they saw a pile of scriptures burning on the island, transforming into a special firelight that illuminated the void. And above the firelight, a terrifying figure sat cross-legged, bare-chested!
