“Departed?”
Caroline stared blankly. She felt overwhelmed, her mind a blank from the shock. Slowly, she turned her head again. Only then did she fully notice the land where the colossal giant had stood, still undergoing furious evolution.
“The law-bound avatar of the God of Creation has left... yet the evolution of life in this world is still accelerating wildly, like an irresistible force stirring all creation! The destiny of the timeline!” Caroline clenched her pale fists, breathing rapidly, as excited as a child.
She loved this kind of unknown, this thrill. After all, compared to freely reading the Demon Core Race and, like the Three Pillar Gods, glimpsing a corner of the future of destiny and fighting to advance the timeline, these inexplicable phenomena were far more interesting and surprising, filled with more possibilities. She disliked known futures and couldn't help but look at the Overlord God beside her, “How long will this last?”
“Over two hundred years,” Xu Zhi replied. This was his usual evolution speed. It would take about two days, typically simulating two hundred years at this pace, and then when he checked back, the species would be sufficiently diverse.
“It's going to last for over two hundred years? And it was just an avatar that departed the moment it arrived! Yet it possesses such terrifying power?” Caroline became thoroughly excited, exclaiming loudly. She eagerly said to the Overlord God, “Then this world will have unimaginable prospects in the future! Our future!”
“Indeed,” Xu Zhi agreed, watching her childlike joy.
Caroline stood up, pacing anxiously, her mind consumed by the mysterious figure of the God of Creation. “So, the prospects for this world aren't as grim as I initially thought. On the contrary, its potential is immense! No wonder, no wonder... the Overlord God and another forbidden existence waged war over this land... because this land is truly precious!”
Before, she didn't believe in gods or spirits, considering them merely more powerful beings. Now, she believed. However, she still hesitated, struggling internally.
Suddenly, she lifted her eyes, which glowed with renewed vigor, and tentatively asked, “If we were to classify it, the God of Creation... would it be above Tier 10, Tier 11, or Tier 12? Can any living being reach its level?”
“I don't know,” Xu Zhi replied directly. Caroline, as always, had many questions, but he was used to it; scientists were like that, full of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge.
*He doesn't know...?* Caroline's gaze was calm, her eyes deep in thought. Those three simple words held terrifying implications in her mind.
What level was the Overlord God? Tier 9. Moreover, the Overlord God was very likely a supreme overlord among Tier 9 beings, an absolute existence with heaven-defying combat power. Perhaps a magnificent height she could never reach in her lifetime, capable of conquering all realms and ruling countless worlds—a true hegemon, an absolute giant of a realm.
Yet, even the Overlord God could not comprehend the other's level, even calling it “Heaven,” an inexplicable phenomenon of mysterious laws! This was terrifying.
Both she and the Overlord God were equally minuscule beneath such a mighty existence, like mayflies and ants. Even the Overlord God's long lifespan was but a fleeting moment in the eyes of such a being. An opening of the eyes meant birth; a blink, passing. Not to mention her own life, even a Tier 9 giant like the Overlord God, who ruled vast realms, was merely a jest before such a materialized phenomenon of laws.
“So, Heaven truly exists,” Caroline finally uttered, utterly awestruck. Following the Overlord God, she had witnessed many incredible miracles along the way, and her horizons had broadened considerably.
“Life is worthy of awe, and nature even more so. In the face of the boundless realms, all life, including you and me, is incredibly small.” Xu Zhi gestured for Caroline to sit on a large rock, speaking softly as he massaged her shoulders from behind. “Throughout one's life, we constantly encounter the unknown and challenges, just as we did in our youth, awestruck by thunder, downpours, and earthquakes in the sky... These mysterious phenomena of laws are inherently awe-inspiring.”
Caroline's face flushed slightly as her shoulders were massaged. After a few seconds of silence, she couldn't help but ask, “Overlord God, in our future, might we possibly reach, or even rival, that indescribable singular existence?”
“Who knows?” Xu Zhi chuckled. “Let's talk about it once you break through Tier 9. Everything is still very far off. You don't need to rush to achieve or pursue it... setting overly ambitious goals might just discourage your determination.”
Caroline nodded, feeling a strange mix of emotion and introspection. Suddenly, she asked, “Then, do you think that in this endless, mysterious universe and its realms, if there's a God of Creation, might there also be a God of Destruction?”
Xu Zhi paused, his expression slowly changing. That was a good idea. Indeed, Caroline's words had sparked something in him.
If there was a God of Creation, there would naturally be a God of Destruction. After all, everything in existence underwent cycles of creation and destruction; a lack of an opposing force would be incomplete. Moreover, he had once said that the myriad realms contained 129,600 worlds, forming one ‘Yuan,’ and that epochs had their births, deaths, and cataclysms. So, where would these cataclysms come from? A God of Destruction? Xu Zhi rested his chin in his hand, lost in thought.
“Stars aligning, demon gods destroying the world”—this was an old trope, a very common setting. However, it had become popular for good reason; it was a very complete worldview. And Xu Zhi was not rigid; he was very adept at listening to various opinions and combining their strengths. The players' suggestions, such as the Innate Primordial Qi or the ancient Buddha as a source of radiation, were excellent examples. Hoarding one's own ideas was foolish.
“Perhaps there really is a God of Destruction, an opposite to the God of Creation?” Xu Zhi mused, neither affirming nor denying. “After all, the God of Creation is the materialized vessel of the converged laws of countless lives and creations across the myriad realms... residing in the spatial courtyards between dimensions. Conversely, the convergence of the laws of death and destruction could also manifest as a materialized vessel... This is certainly a possibility.”
Caroline nodded, also enthusiastic. After all, she was immensely happy and joyful now, happier than she had ever been in her life, having gained a tremendous opportunity, witnessed a far vaster world, and even the mysterious God of Creation, who had descended to create all things and mend this world! It was truly wonderful.
Xu Zhi, however, remained calm. He let her revel in her happiness, knowing it would make her work harder. After all, this time, he wanted to try using Caroline's formidable supercomputing power to assist in his deductions. “For the next two hundred years of accelerated time, you can try to interfere with the evolution of these beings.”
