The world was becoming strange.
As they learned more, they discovered that this land was home not only to the Church of the Goddess of Light but also to the Church of the Goddess of Night.
The Church of Light worshipped "Mercury, the Goddess of Wisdom and Light," while the Church of Night worshipped "Ermin, the Goddess of Death and Darkness." The founders of the Church of Night were the remaining low-level wizards from that era.
Although the Church of Night was not as powerful as the Church of Light, it wielded significant hidden influence.
"Does this mean no one has been able to merge with the first bloodline all these years?" Xiaonaohu Xiashan was startled when he heard this. "Have the dozens of potions, developed from the mature alchemy system of that time, which increased the probability of gene-bloodline fusion, completely disappeared?"
Without bloodline compatibility potions to reduce rejection, even merging with "Slime genes" or "Harpy" became almost impossible, unless one sacrificed a vast amount of life, like the three witches of old.
Humans could no longer easily transform into orcs.
This meant that half-orcs and humans had completely diverged into two distinct races.
"In that case, the half-orcs in this world have gained a physical advantage and become the dominant force..."
"Meanwhile, the newly deceased on this land still receive Ermin's 'Call of the Dead,' proceeding in a daze to the Underworld, which is now inhabited by many souls."
After a moment of silence, Xiaonaohu Xiashan ignored these thoughts. He slowly knelt and kissed Linda's hand. "O last witch in the world! Will you fall into an evil witch for me and marry me? We no longer need to abide by the three iron laws of wizards."
"Yes," Linda replied, tears streaming down her face.
Linda had only three years left to live. The moment she died, Xiaonaohu would also completely leave this timeline, to be buried with her, ending his life's journey.
Three days later, in the small town on the edge of the forest ruins, a windmill stood on the lawn. The sky was azure, and flocks of birds slowly drifted by.
A simple wedding was held in a slightly old but neat two-story white house.
There were no other guests apart from the two of them, as Linda had lived in seclusion for so long that no one knew of her existence anymore.
It was a simple and unadorned wedding, with no spectators.
Xiaonaohu Xiashan wore a black suit, and Linda wore a pristine white wedding dress, smiling brightly.
The two quietly gazed at the empty seats in the hall, yet it felt as if distinguished guests filled every one. Each seat bore many familiar names and portraits, as if all the heroes, relatives, and friends from a bygone era had come.
Even black and white portraits of people like "Akina Speed," "Learn Baixue," and "Again, Grind Your Hand" were placed on the empty chairs.
The couple held hands, smiling radiantly, and raised their glasses.
"To all of you who, back then, opened the gates of the Underworld and entered the Netherworld formation, thank you for attending our wedding. Our age of witches and wizards is drawing to a close!"
They went around toasting each table, and finally, the two exchanged glances.
"Linda, say... 'Cheese!'"

Online, there was a wave of emotion. People couldn't help but feel stirred, with deep sentiments, as they viewed the exquisite wedding photos.
The wizards who pursued truth had become history. The last two people of that era had finally reunited in this strange land and were about to spend the rest of their lives together.
"Congratulations!""Congratulations! 1""Congratulations! Wishing you happiness and harmony! 2"
Chunzi Loves Learning: "The Alchemist Emperor didn't truly marry; you're the first one to marry a beautiful witch and reach the pinnacle of life. You deserve it! (Envious)"
Studying Medicine to Save Another World: "This is a perfect ending (smiles)."
Again, Grind Your Hand: "Wait!! Why can't I offer my blessings from outside? (Confused)"
Times changed, and the world transformed, but the two of them eventually found their way back to each other.
Just as the couple settled into their quiet married life, less than three days later, the young nobleman appeared again, accompanied by a group of followers, mostly the illegitimate children of various counts and lords.
Clad in armor and wielding black longswords, they uniformly knelt on the ground. "We greet the original Saintess of Light from two hundred years ago, and the legendary Book of Light!"
"Who are you...?" Xiaonaohu Xiashan calmly asked.
"O great legendary heroes! Please accept us as your disciples! Teach us the path of humanity's rise and guide us towards the ancient path of the truth-seeking wizards!"
They spoke with immense respect, their voices booming and resolute: "Teachers, we want to learn witchcraft!!"
Xiaonaohu Xiashan cursed internally: *Get lost! I'm trying to learn witchcraft myself! Can't you see I'm still just an ordinary person?!*
Standing at the doorway, Xiaonaohu Xiashan's gaze dropped. "Do you know the price of pursuing truth?"
"Is it life? Teacher, we do not fear death!!"
Xiaonaohu Xiashan's voice remained calm, without a ripple. "Do you know what kind of torment you'll have to endure?"
"Is it loneliness? Teacher, we do not fear solitude!!"
Xiaonaohu Xiashan was utterly bewildered. Why were these people so stubborn?
He calmly waved his hand. "Wizards were a group of people in ancient times who pursued ultimate truth. They have vanished into history. It's impossible for you to follow in their ancient footsteps. Cherish the present and go home!"
*Bang!!*
Xiaonaohu Xiashan slammed the door shut.
The ground outside the small house was scorching hot. The illegitimate sons of various nobles, led by Albert, knelt on the ground, exchanging bewildered glances.
"Let's go back," someone said with a wry smile.
"Don't get up. There must be a deeper meaning! This is a test for us. How can one become a wizard without enduring the scorching sun?"
At this point, Albert solemnly addressed the group: "If this were any other ancient hero recorded in history, they would certainly speak plainly. But according to the Church of Light, the Book of Light, which conveys the will of the God of Wisdom, is always profound and enigmatic. It never speaks directly. This must be a test for us!"
"So that's how it is?"
Everyone suddenly understood.
Beside them, a female knight in armor calmly stated in a cold voice: "The words of the Book of Light are indeed profoundly obscure. I have, of course, read the 'Sayings of Mercury, God of Wisdom,' and the 121st passage states that the great Mercury once told mortals: 'Don't bow your head, or your crown will fall; don't cry, or men will laugh!'"
"Heh."
A strong knight nearby sneered twice, as if in direct opposition: "The 72nd passage says Hermes told mortals: 'Women are not the world's royalty! I am a man you can never control!'"
They openly recited the doctrines and scriptures of the Church of Light outside.
With resolute expressions, they remained kneeling.
As Xiaonaohu Xiashan closed the door, he couldn't help but shake his head. "I was clearly speaking the truth. What's wrong with this world?"
He couldn't be bothered to deal with them and simply called Linda, "Let's continue our game of chess."
Half a day later, Xiaonaohu went out, and seeing them still kneeling on the ground, he was momentarily stunned before turning and leaving again.
Yet, in less than half a month, he discovered his life in this other world was severely affected!
For example, when he went shopping for groceries, a tall, burly knight with a greatsword on his back would slowly approach the vegetable stall where an old woman was selling produce. While buying vegetables, he'd pick up a beast egg and say, "Old woman, look at this egg, it's so big and round. If you crack it from the outside..."
Xiaonaohu Xiashan: ???
But at that moment, the old vegetable seller joyfully smiled and said, "So you're also a believer of the Church of Light! I go to church every weekend now to pray for the Lord to forgive my sins."
"Indeed," the burly man replied. "God says all people are sinners, and what's important is to repent and turn back from error. The 187th passage contains a metaphor, where the God of Wisdom once said: 'Before, I had no choice, but now I want to be a good person!'"
The two then discussed the doctrines of the Church of Light, reciting the words of God.
As the burly knight chatted with the old vegetable seller, he would subtly glance at Xiaonaohu, winking as if asking, "How am I doing? Have I passed the test?"
"Let's move somewhere else," he told Linda that night.
However, upon discovering this, the group of nobles began to secretly speculate, concluding that it must be another new round of tests.
Consequently, they used their connections to search for the couple, and half a month later, they were once again kneeling respectfully at their door.
"Linda, I'll cook something delicious for you tonight..."
Xiaonaohu opened the door, only to see a group of people kneeling on the ground. With a calm expression, he slowly closed the door again.
"Argh!!!!"
He erupted into a furious, collapsing expression, completely losing his mind. "I'm on my honeymoon with my wife, Linda!"
Unable to bear it any longer, he couldn't resist posting on a forum: "To all you experts! What should I do about a group of new-generation nobles and royals crying and begging me to take them as disciples for cultivation? How can I get rid of them without anyone knowing? Waiting online, I'm quite desperate!"
