Chapter 141: The Last Glory of the Era

Under the dark and oppressive night sky.

The moment the deity formed, a breathtaking, tangible pressure emerged. A snow-white arm reached out from across dimensional space, and with a slow press, caused the Cthulhu evil god to collapse.

"This is a god..." From within the Cthulhu evil god's body, an incredibly hoarse voice emerged.

"Just one strike."

He lowered his head blankly. His body, like a magnificent ancient stone statue, slowly cracked, and huge fissures appeared. The next second, these cracks spread into a web, visibly withering, decaying, and rapidly collapsing.

"We're defeated."

Two faint voices emerged: "You've almost reached your limit, haven't you, by descending to the mortal realm and making a move against us this time?"

"In this barren mortal realm, even a god's power will wane, and their energy will rapidly dissipate into the air. This is not a place where you can appear at will. You should stay hidden in your divine realm."

With a tremendous roar, the evil god collapsed.

An echo resonated throughout the heavens and earth: "We are defeated, but you can never truly kill us!"

They were highly vigilant, having long since transferred their true bodies and hidden far away on the other side of the mountain range, manipulating the evil god. As Level 6 legendary wizards, they were concealed in the shadows, their aura completely hidden. Now, sensing the unfavorable situation, they fled.

At this moment, a clear, cold voice came from afar: "Do you think you'll have a chance? We already anticipated that you couldn't be killed, as cunning as ever. But we have prepared a method to truly eradicate you."

A new "Giant of Light" slowly emerged. "Let me take over your bodies, becoming the next Cthulhu evil god. Once I become powerful enough, I will naturally be able to sense your existence. You will have nowhere to hide."

"What!?"

The faces of the two players hiding in the shadows completely changed. The flow of time had already determined everything. By the time the outside research institute became aware, it was already too late within. Their defeat was set; this was a flawless killing trap with no chance of turning the tables.

With a rumbling sound, Medusa slowly gathered the countless writhing crimson flesh scattered on the ground. Her body steadily grew, gradually reforming. Over centuries, these evil gods had used the power of entire nations to painstakingly cultivate their Level 2 wizard body tissues. All of it was instantly absorbed by Medusa.

The gates of the Underworld slowly closed once more. Armin's voice came from across realms, as if traveling through space and time, faintly asking, "Medusa, is this truly right? Why abandon your humanity to become such an evil being?"

As a deity, Armin could no longer easily descend to the mortal realm in person. If the passage between the two realms were opened presumptuously, it would only diminish the energy of her high-energy world, allowing it to dissipate into this barren mortal realm. Gods cannot remain in the mortal realm for too long. After all, the vast energy difference between the two worlds creates an "osmotic pressure," much like between two cells. Almost every moment, that barren land, like a dry, scorching desert frantically draining a "god" (a wet sponge), would cause severe depletion to their cultivation.

The more powerful the deity, the faster their energy dissipates, and the less easily they can descend to the mortal realm. Perhaps if a god's realm progresses further, completely solidifying themselves, preventing energy leakage, and forming a perfect, leak-proof divine body, only then could they descend from the divine realm and remain in the barren earthly environment for a period.

But what lies beyond a deity? Currently, no one knows.

Medusa, continuously drawing in flesh and reassembling herself, replied, "Armin, after this great battle, I don't envy you, for I have a far greater dream. You became a god, but merely an ordinary one. A weak human becoming a god, the energy required for that can be met by our mortal world. But the Cthulhu evil god is a great, supreme being from a high-energy, alternate world who descended upon this land! If not for the limitations of this barren land, in its original high-energy world, it would have surely already broken through to godhood, becoming one of the strongest deities with infinite potential... His descent into our world gave us mere mortals the only chance to kill him and seize his body..."

Medusa, like a towering mountain of flesh and blood, slowly writhed and reassembled herself. However, the cost of this immense power meant that this world could by no means provide enough energy for her to achieve godhood.

"What a wonderful and powerful body," Medusa praised, standing on the vast earth and enjoying this nearly invincible feeling for the first time. Mountains were mere molehills before her, and all creatures were infinitesimally small ants. Yet, her expression gradually grew complex. She looked up, as if remembering her teacher, Circe.

"Armin, you ask why I abandoned my humanity? It's because to become strong, any means are acceptable! Even if it's evil, even if I'm reviled by the world, power is the ultimate truth in this world! I've learned one thing from my long life: human capabilities have limits. The more I contended with figures like the Alchemist Emperor and Armin, the more I desperately sought to extend my lifespan, the more I realized this: humanity has its limits... Therefore, I chose to become a being that transcends humanity!"

She gradually transformed into the next Cthulhu evil god. Furthermore, her appearance gradually changed. Her legs slowly merged into a long, scaly tail, and her hair writhed like flying serpents. Her entire body took on a stony texture, resembling the beautiful Gorgon of legend. Her long, serpentine hair writhed wildly in the air.

"From today, I walk towards eternal life." In her mind, a procession of past heroes from long history flashed by: Gilgamesh, the Three Witches, the Alchemist Emperor. Each had reigned supreme, suppressed the world, and desperately pursued immortality... But in the end, they all died of old age; only she had succeeded. Her own talent could not compare to theirs, yet she had surpassed them, embarking on an unknown, entirely new path! As long as she had eternal life, it meant she had an eternity to forge everything. Level 8 Mythical would not be the end. Level 9? Level 10? If these realms truly existed, then she was destined to reach them. Possessing the supreme bloodline of a Creator God, she was destined to be extraordinary.

With a rumbling sound, the Gorgon, whose body was as vast as a mountain range, stood on the endless earth, radiating an unparalleled sense of solemn, majestic, and great impact. Medusa, a monarch and emperor who had lived for eight or nine hundred years, mastered the evil god's power in just half a month, even more thoroughly than the two "muscle players" who previously controlled it. In an instant, using her connection to the Cthulhu evil god's body, she sensed the four "muscle players."

"It has begun," she said, her expression shifting. She swiftly pursued the two fleeing individuals, as well as the book, and the headphone wizard hiding in the shadows. Along the way, she encountered some remnants of the fleeing evil cult, including Anise, the genius from the evil god's church. With just a glance, Anise was turned to stone, her cells solidifying, transforming her into a statue of a woman. The unspeakable terror was actually amplified by Medusa. Evil gods cannot be looked at directly. She had incorporated her understanding of the death of microscopic bodily units; anyone who looked directly at her body would be petrified, turning into a statue and entering eternal slumber.

"Hey! Just kill the other three! I'm an ally!" cried Little Brain Tiger Down the Mountain, completely bewildered. The moment he was captured, a page of a book silently fell to the ground.

*Rustle*. A gentle breeze blew, carrying a faint scent of blood through the air.

On the land filled with ruins and broken walls, countless buildings were mingled with bloody corpses. After this slaughter, the land had turned black, covered in blood, with deep gullies and cracks everywhere. The capital of the Wizard Federation had collapsed, with countless casualties. By the end of the battle, the internal space of Victoria Wizard University in Cthulhu's capital had also shattered, and the witches of the evil cult fell out, nearly all dying and becoming nourishment for godhood. As for the three major kingdoms, most of the wizards did not survive; all wizards above Level 4 sacrificed their lives, and most of the survivors were Level 1 and Level 2 wizards. In the entire wizarding world, powerful individuals were almost annihilated.

"This final battle, though a victory, came at too great a cost," Linda said, looking at the ruined world, her heart filled with despair. She began organizing personnel from the Church of Light, leading some civilians and low-level wizards to address the aftermath of the great battle and rescue civilians trapped under collapsed buildings. However, Linda still couldn't find the Book of Light.

"He's one of the evil gods; surely Emperor Medusa didn't take him away to merge with the Cthulhu evil god..." This horrifying thought flashed through Linda's mind, and her face turned pale. Soon, in the ruins, a devout nun hurried over with a page of a book. On it was written: "Wait for my return."

"This paper has his texture," she said, her expression becoming unsettled. "He must have been taken away, but Emperor Armin will protect him. Emperor Medusa will at most study his body; she won't kill him."

Linda was silent for a moment, gazing at the shattered land of the capital. "We don't know how long it will take for us to recover from such wounds..."

At that moment, an urgent voice cried out, "Something's wrong!"

"What is it?" Linda asked.

A Level 1 wizard, clad in a wizard's robe, excitedly spoke, "Lady Saint, all the Evil Eyes and wizarding books from the entire wizarding world were collected at Victoria University. But this university was built upon the Cthulhu evil god, and during the recent great battle..."

Those around them froze in their tracks and looked towards the ruins. As they exchanged glances, a horrifying thought began to spread... Could it be that the Evil Eyes and the books were all...? That was a thousand years of our civilization, the painstaking effort of countless wizards!

"What happened?!" Linda roared.

"The wizarding books are mostly fine; most weren't destroyed. But the fundamentals of alchemy and potion-making were almost entirely destroyed. And the Evil Eyes! The moment space shattered, the very presence of the Cthulhu evil god, which cannot be looked at directly, caused all the captive Evil Eyes to be instantly killed by the shock."

"What!!"

"If all the Evil Eyes in the world are extinct, then our wizarding era will be..."

"Then, is today's final battle against the evil god the last glory of our wizarding era?" Linda looked at the shattered earth, her mind thundering as she became utterly distraught. But quickly, her expression became calm. The tides of the world were too vast, irrelevant to a small individual like her. She just silently lowered her head. "Our wizarding glory has passed.... Can I wait for your return?"
