Chapter 3709: Subduing the True Spirit (No More Today)

To Wang Changsheng and the others, after a golden halo swept over Qiu Wuying and the two others, their gazes became vacant.

“They’ve fallen into an illusion and won’t be able to break free anytime soon. Act quickly and kill them,” Ni Tianlong stated.

Wang Changsheng’s right index finger glowed with a dazzling blue light. A piercing whoosh echoed as a blue streak of light shot forth, leaving a white trail in the air, and sped directly towards Qiu Wuying.

A dazzling silver light flared on Qiu Wuying’s chest, and his eyes regained their focus. A round silver jade pendant, emanating astonishing spiritual energy, was visible on his chest.

The Illusion Moon Pendant, a Xuantian Treasure, was a formidable item that countered illusion techniques. It had been seized from a major clan.

Qiu Wuying’s body erupted in black light as he reverted to his true form, a colossal Ghost Kite.

The Ghost Kite opened its maw and unleashed a black sound wave. Simultaneously, a gentle flap of its wings summoned a hazy gray tornado that swept forth.

The black sound wave collided with the blue streak of light, instantly dissipating. The blue streak of light then shattered the gray tornado and pierced through the Ghost Kite’s left wing. Blood gushed profusely, and a shower of feathers rained down.

The Ghost Kite’s right claw swiped at the empty air. A ripple spread in the air above Wang Changsheng’s head as a colossal, ink-black bird claw materialized out of thin air and slammed down towards Wang Changsheng’s crown.

Wang Changsheng’s body flared with blue light, turning aquamarine as if composed of seawater. The black bird claw passed straight through his body, without shedding a single drop of blood.

Upright and Shadowless — Wang Changsheng, having cultivated into a True Spirit, had mastered this unique divine ability, which rendered him immune to most spells and treasure attacks.

When this divine ability was active, only a few obscure treasures or divine abilities could harm Wang Changsheng, such as soul attacks, illusions, or Immortal Slaying Beads.

Naturally, the effectiveness of this divine ability was dependent on Wang Changsheng’s cultivation realm. If someone were to wield an immortal artifact against him, it could still be fatal. However, no cultivators in the lower realms possessed the ability to wield immortal artifacts.

Wang Changsheng struck out with a fist, and the black bird claw dissipated and vanished.

A thick silver lightning pillar descended from the sky, striking the Ghost Kite. Simultaneously, a blue sound wave swept towards it.

The Ghost Kite attempted to evade, but a potent spatial force held it captive. Meanwhile, a cacophony of Buddhist chants and beast roars heavily impacted it, slowing its reactions.

After the blue sound wave swept past the Ghost Kite, the creature convulsed once. All its internal organs were shattered. Without a treasure like the Profound Sound Pendant, it stood no chance against a single attack from Wang Ruyan, who had opened three apertures.

No sooner had a miniature Ghost Kite spirit left its corporeal form than it was enveloped by a green ethereal glow and pulled into a green jade bottle.

At this moment, Xiao Mai and Wu Feng also regained their consciousness.

“Three apertures! You actually opened three apertures!” Wu Feng exclaimed, his face etched with disbelief.

They were utterly powerless before Wang Changsheng, constantly suppressed and beaten. Aside from the interference of Master Miaode, Gongsun Yang, and Ni Tianlong, this was largely due to Wang Changsheng’s profound divine abilities.

As fellow mid-Mahayana cultivators, there was no reason for them to be so utterly outmatched, unless Wang Changsheng had opened three apertures.

Fear flickered in Xiao Mai’s eyes. Previously, with Die Wei present, they could have escaped even if they were outmatched. But now that Die Wei was dead, it would be difficult for them to escape.

“Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance. Whoever survives, I will spare their life,” Wang Changsheng declared.

Now, only Xiao Mai and the Three-legged Golden Crow remained. The divine abilities of these two True Spirits were incredibly potent, and Wang Changsheng intended to subdue one of them.

“Why should we believe you?” Xiao Mai’s brow furrowed deeply.

“Presumptuous! My master offered you a chance, and you squandered it. At this point, what right do you have to negotiate with my master? You should take a long, hard look at yourselves!” Wang Xiao sneered.

Xiao Mai’s expression clouded with displeasure. Just as he was about to speak, a surge of intense heat descended from above. A torrent of golden flames engulfed his body, consuming him.

“Fellow Daoist Wu, you actually believed him! He’s trying to make us kill each other!” Xiao Mai said with a pained frown.

“I’ve come too far to die now. So, you die instead!” Wu Feng’s expression turned cold, his body erupted in golden light as he transformed into a Three-legged Golden Crow wreathed in golden flames, emitting terrifying heat.

Xiao Mai’s body flared with black light, transforming into a colossal Seven-headed Owl. It engaged the Three-legged Golden Crow in battle, while Wang Changsheng and the others watched, refraining from intervention.

Despite having similar cultivation levels, the Seven-headed Owl was utterly outmatched by the Three-legged Golden Crow. The Golden Crow True Fire was simply too potent; even a True Spirit body like the Seven-headed Owl couldn’t withstand it. It was quickly defeated, its many heads crushed by the Three-legged Golden Crow’s sharp talons.

“Fellow Daoist Wu, spare my life! I am willing to recognize Fellow Daoist Wang as my master and brave any danger for him,” the Seven-headed Owl pleaded for mercy.

“I don’t keep trash. Only one can live,” Wang Changsheng stated.

Upon hearing this, the Three-legged Golden Crow ceased holding back. It seized the Seven-headed Owl’s last head with its right claw and crushed it to dust. No sooner had a miniature Seven-headed Owl spirit left its body than it was enveloped by a green ethereal glow and swept into a green jade bottle.

The Three-legged Golden Crow flew towards Wang Changsheng and his companions. As it approached Wang Changsheng, it shifted into its human form.

“Wu Feng greets Master. This subordinate knows many secrets and has also collected some excellent materials, all of which I humbly offer to you.” Wu Feng bowed deeply to Wang Changsheng, then produced a golden storage bracelet and presented it to him.

Wang Changsheng’s face showed approval. He was very pleased with Wu Feng’s attitude. He accepted the golden storage bracelet, and with a sweep of his spiritual sense, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. It contained a considerable amount of valuable items.

He immediately implanted a restriction, allowing him to severely injure Wu Feng with a single thought.

“From now on, your name shall be Wang Yang!” Wang Changsheng renamed Wu Feng.

“Yes, Master. Thank you for bestowing this name,” Wang Yang humbly accepted.

“Congratulations, Fellow Daoist Wang, on subduing a True Spirit!” Gongsun Yang offered his congratulations, his face alight with envy.

He could tell that Wang Changsheng hadn’t simply opened a third aperture. The divine ability “Upright and Shadowless” was incredibly potent. Wang Changsheng hadn’t used this ability when dealing with the Yinmei and Mantis clan cultivators before.

He suspected Wang Changsheng had cultivated into a True Spirit. Only this could explain how Wang Changsheng injured a True Spirit who had opened two apertures with a single strike.

“Fellow Daoist Wang, have you truly cultivated into a True Spirit?” Ni Tianlong asked curiously. If so, that would be truly terrifying.

“By chance, I managed to cultivate into a True Spirit. Who would have thought they’d come attacking?” Wang Changsheng replied with a smile, acknowledging it.

“They were overly arrogant, relying on their second aperture, coming to seize the Soul Annihilation Plate, Profound Jade Shield, and Bean Soldiers. Who would have thought Master would prove superior?” Wang Yang explained, distancing himself from Qiu Wuying and the other four.

If Wang Changsheng hadn’t cultivated into a True Spirit, even if he could have eliminated Qiu Wuying and the other four, the Wang family would still have suffered significant losses.

“A True Spirit who has opened three apertures... sweeping across the Eastern Profound Continent Realm Cluster wouldn’t be an issue.” Ni Wuting’s face was filled with envy.

“Sweeping across the Eastern Profound Continent Realm Cluster? Fellow Daoist Ni, you jest. There is always a higher heaven, and there are always people beyond people,” Wang Changsheng replied modestly.

Super clans possess profound foundations, and he wasn’t so arrogant as to challenge them. Nor did he have any interest in doing so.
