Chapter 2034: Army? I Have One Too

Thoughts racing, Zu An unconsciously arrived at a city. It was clear this city had been abandoned by the demon army years ago, and now it was reoccupied by the Little Golden-Winged Peng King as a base for his forces.

Zu An observed from a distance, noting how the army was stationed with clear layers and a multi-dimensional defense. He couldn't help but nod secretly; the Little Golden-Winged Peng King was indeed worthy of being one of the four famous generals of the demon race.

At this moment, the troops below noticed their approach, and various siege crossbows and rune cannons were aimed at the figures in the sky.

Wang Gu then said, "Regent, Princess, I'll go ahead and inform them."

Zu An nodded, and Wang Gu flapped his wings, flying swiftly downwards.

Sorenshi then said, "Brother Zu, we can ask the Little Golden-Winged Peng King to bring his army with us to rescue the Little Demon Queen. That way, our chances of success will be much higher."

Zu An gazed at the city below. "They might not be willing to help."

Sorenshi was taken aback. "What do you mean?"

She suddenly recalled Zu An mentioning earlier that the Little Golden-Winged Peng King's strategy of dividing his forces was strange. Could it be...

Just then, Zu An's eyes narrowed. "Look out!"

As he spoke, he wrapped an arm around her waist and dodged to the side. Almost simultaneously, dozens of thick siege crossbow bolts, glowing with dazzling runes, struck the spot they had just occupied.

Such military crossbow bolts could directly collapse city walls, let alone flesh and blood bodies.

Sorenshi's face turned pale. "Is the Little Golden-Winged Peng King insane?"

"He's not insane; he just stopped pretending," Zu An sneered, looking at the young man in golden armor on the high platform in the city.

"As expected of the Regent, such an unannounced sneak attack couldn't even scratch you," the Little Golden-Winged Peng King said with a slight smile. Though his voice wasn't loud, it was clearly audible amidst the swirling snow, indicating his extraordinary cultivation.

"Why?" Before Zu An could speak, Sorenshi was already somewhat enraged. "You hold a respected position, and your family has enjoyed endless glory and wealth for generations. Why would you betray the Little Demon Queen and cause countless demon kin to die tragically?"

Although she had harbored some doubts after hearing Zu An's analysis, they had grown up together and were of similar status, naturally becoming friends. She couldn't believe the Little Golden-Winged Peng King would do such a thing.

"Why?" The Little Golden-Winged Peng King's expression turned cold. "My father was utterly loyal to the demon race. What did he get in return?"

"He was killed by the Demon Emperor for no clear reason, simply because he was feared. And the worst part is, we couldn't even be angry; we had to be grateful for the monarch's grace," the Little Golden-Winged Peng King said with some agitation. "We are the noble Golden-Winged Peng clan, not dogs!"

"The Old Demon Emperor certainly handled that poorly, but he's dead now. Any hatred should have passed. Are you betraying the Little Demon Queen and the other clans just for this? Those demons are extraterrestrial beings. If you truly let them invade, where will you find a way to survive?" Sorenshi found it hard to understand.

"What do you know?" the Little Golden-Winged Peng King sneered. "Those are called 'demons,' and we are called 'demons.' Don't you think our names are too similar?"

Sorenshi was puzzled. "What are you implying?"

The Little Golden-Winged Peng King stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze fixed on the starry sky, filled with longing. "I only recently learned that we demons and those extraterrestrial demons actually share a common ancestor and the same bloodline."

Zu An: "..."

Sorenshi: "..."

"Are you insane? How could we be related to those disgusting creatures?"

She still remembered many slime-oozing demons; they were as repulsive as could be. If they were truly family, she'd rather die.

"Of course, we are different from those low-level demons. We possess a higher bloodline. Regent, you must have encountered those high-level demons, right? They are incredibly powerful beings," the Little Golden-Winged Peng King said excitedly.

Zu An said calmly, "I have seen them, but they were all strange-looking things. None were as pleasing to the eye as the people of the demon race."

"We also have our true forms; humans naturally wouldn't like that appearance," the Little Golden-Winged Peng King no longer bothered with Zu An, instead reaching out to Sorenshi. "Sister Soren, we should be together. Join us. Our future is the sea of stars; what is this small world compared to that?"

To his surprise, Sorenshi sighed and pulled out her great hammer. "Thousands of my warriors were killed by you. If I don't avenge them, how could I ever join you?"

"Stubborn fools, kill them!" Seeing her resolute expression, the Little Golden-Winged Peng King lost his patience.

With a wave of his hand, countless glowing magical spells rose from the army formations in the city, shooting towards the two.

Zu An grabbed Sorenshi, moving like lightning, dodging one blast of light after another.

However, the entire city below was filled with troops, unleashing countless attacks.

Attacks came from all directions, rendering usual dodging techniques, feints, or exploiting enemy weaknesses completely useless.

This was precisely why individual cultivators found it difficult to contend with a regular army.

Watching Zu An, who was incredibly fast but couldn't withstand his army's saturation coverage of the sky, forcing him to endure direct hits several times, the Little Golden-Winged Peng King showed a smile. "Regent, though your cultivation is high, individual power is still too insignificant before an army."

His troops were elites, and as one of the four famous generals of the demon race, his proper command made the army's offense exceptionally layered, giving the opponent no chance at all. They could simply wear Zu An down.

No matter how strong the enemy's attack, when thousands of people shared the burden, the impact on each individual was within acceptable limits.

Even if these soldiers were individually weak, amplified by thousands, their combined power was enough to harm any powerful cultivator.

Sorenshi vigorously swung her great hammer to block the magical attacks from below, trying to relieve some of the pressure on Zu An. "Brother Zu, don't worry about me. Seize this chance to leave first. His army can't be battle-ready at all times; you'll find an opportunity to come back and strike."

"I don't have a habit of abandoning my teammates," Zu An said calmly.

"But against such a well-equipped army, individual power is limited," Sorenshi urged, knowing well as a high-ranking demon how much of an advantage an army had over a single cultivator.

"An army? I have one too," Zu An smiled.

Sorenshi was startled. Just then, she felt ripple-like patterns appearing in the sky. Soon after, a large group of strangely shaped iron birds gradually emerged from these ripples.

Some of these iron birds were flat and streamlined, entirely black, like hawks; others were huge and completely white, like swans...

"What are those?" The Little Golden-Winged Peng King was stunned, but instinctively sensed danger and hastily ordered his troops to attack the iron birds first.

However, the iron birds flew too high, almost tens of thousands of meters in the sky, and their speed was incredibly fast. It was difficult for the army's attacks to hit targets at such altitudes.

Just then, the iron birds seemed to "lay eggs," dropping rows of unknown objects from their undersides directly towards the Little Golden-Winged Peng King's army.

Hearing the piercing whistling sound, the Little Golden-Winged Peng King's army automatically attacked the cylindrical objects, even without a direct command.

Dazzling flashes of fire erupted in the air, and terrifying waves of air swept across the entire ruined city.

Initially, the army's defensive formation could withstand the shockwaves, but as more and more bombs fell onto their positions, their formation could no longer hold, developing crack after crack.

Finally, it completely shattered, and the entire city became a sea of flames and shockwaves. The Little Golden-Winged Peng King's army could no longer maintain formation; instead, they screamed and fled in all directions.

Zu An thought to himself, *How could these troops possibly withstand the combined attention of B2s and Tu-160s?*

Sorenshi's mouth hung open, unable to close, her beautiful eyes wide with shock. What in the world was this? How did Brother Zu have so many tricks up his sleeve?

Seeing the elite army, which had been so formidable just a second ago, utterly routed the next, the Little Golden-Winged Peng King nearly collapsed. He transformed into a streak of golden light, tearing through the sky. Wherever he passed, the strange iron birds in the air disintegrated and exploded.

Zu An's expression turned cold. With a flash, he darted directly towards the golden light.
