Chapter 1605: Eternal Dreamscape

“Very well, I can see that the power you are unleashing together incorporates the unique faith energy of this world. It must be your most potent technique, and I hope it can bring me some enjoyment.”

Xu Yang finished speaking, still standing with his hands clasped behind his back. He offered no active technique in response, yet a faint angelic light naturally materialized around his body.

Protected by this gentle radiance, Xu Yang’s body not only showed no repulsion towards the opponent’s faith-condensed power but actively influenced the very core of that dazzling light.

“Hahahaha,” the leader of the Twelve Divine Messengers burst out laughing. “I don’t know whether to call you arrogant or suicidal. If, with your cultivation, you had shown a flicker of reverence just now, you might have had a chance to survive. But now, it’s too late for everything.”

The leader among the Twelve Divine Messengers laughed boisterously, as if he had already foreseen Xu Yang utterly dissolving under the pure divine light of faith.

At a command for the light to gather, the other eleven messagers simultaneously merged all their power. Even their physical bodies vanished instantly, integrating as pure light into the leader’s single form.

Indeed, just as Xu Yang had speculated, these twelve so-called Divine Messengers were merely illusory forms derived from a single, complete physical body.

This consolidation aimed to achieve the strongest possible burst of power. The divine light of faith, reaching to the heavens and penetrating the earth, completely enveloped Xu Yang’s body.

Everyone observing lost sight of Xu Yang’s physical outline. At that moment, Jiu’er, Xiaoxiang, and others instinctively clenched their fists, as did White Lotus Demon Saint, Xu Yang’s sole disciple.

All of them felt a surge of anxiety for Xu Yang. Though they knew his power had reached an inconceivable level, their opponent’s current offensive was still overwhelming.

No one was certain if the ultimate profound technique unleashed by the combined Twelve Divine Messengers could truly counteract Xu Yang’s Law of Light.

Only Xiao Hua, Ling Yao, and Long Kun remained unwavering in their faith in Xu Yang’s power. They knew full well that as long as Xu Yang had not yet revealed any of his many trump cards, he could never truly fail.

“Hahahaha! What now, boy? Your arrogance will only lead to your demise. Perish beneath the light of faith, become yet another slave of the Divine Temple! Your soul shall be forever imprisoned within, with no hope of liberation!”

The terrifying power showed no sign of weakening for some time. Eventually, the leader, who was channeling this immense force, gradually ceased guiding the intensified light of faith, allowing the colossal radiance to slowly dissipate. To his utter disbelief, Xu Yang’s outline remained perfectly intact, as noble and pristine as a divine artifact.

Even the faint layer of light surrounding him showed no sign of alteration.

“What? This is impossible!” the leader exclaimed. “What method did you use to withstand such powerful light of faith?”

Xu Yang scoffed, then suddenly lunged forward, seizing the Divine Messenger by the neck with one hand.

“Do you really think you’re worthy of such insolence in my presence?” Xu Yang snarled. “A Divine Messenger is nothing. I want to see the self-proclaimed god behind you, the creator of this Second Divine Temple illusionary world. Where is he? And where is this so-called Divine Temple? Will you give me a truthful answer, or must I extract it from your soul?”

Upon hearing Xu Yang’s voice and witnessing the terrifying, murderous glint in his eyes, the unified core of the Twelve Divine Messengers finally began to tremble.

It seemed that, in this entire world, only the Divine Temple’s master—and now Xu Yang—possessed the ability to inflict such bone-deep, soul-shattering terror upon him.

“Don’t dream of it!” the messenger retorted. “I am the Divine Temple’s most loyal follower. How could I possibly betray it? You’ll never find the true location of the Divine Temple! And your hundreds of thousands of demon beast warriors behind you will never break free from this Second Divine Temple illusion. You, a mere group of lowly life forms, dare to dream of overturning the Kunlun Divine Path and challenging the will of the Supreme God? Dream on, hahahaha!”

The messenger began to laugh maniacally, his thoughts a raw outpouring of his deepest contempt. Unfortunately, revealing such sentiments was tantamount to provoking Xu Yang’s wrath.

“Very well,” Xu Yang said. “Since you are so content being a devout believer, I shall weave a dream for you. Within it, you will endlessly relive this very moment.”

As Xu Yang spoke, various illusions immediately materialized within his pupils. When all these phantasms compressed into a single space, the dream took shape.

Under the guidance of Xu Yang’s mental power, the messenger’s soul world was perfected. Within this dream, the believer, who had dedicated his entire faith to his god, watched his own Divine Temple crumble before his eyes. Xu Yang was the one who personally dismantled the temple and obliterated the very existence of the Second Divine Temple world’s creator.

“No! What are you doing! Stop this at once!”

Within the dream, he continued to scream frantically, trying to use his power to defend the Divine Temple’s glory. Yet, he found himself utterly powerless, like an ant in that dream world, forever unable to grasp Xu Yang’s presence. He could only watch his faith crumble repeatedly, as Xu Yang had set the dream to be eternal.

In other words, this Divine Messenger would be perpetually submerged in this agonizing dream, forever unable to alter its outcome.

Compared to simply ending his life, this punishment was arguably far more devastating. This was the fitting consequence for defying Xu Yang.

After witnessing the once-haughty leader of the Divine Messengers descend into madness, the last vestiges of resistance vanished from the hearts of the two great empire allied forces below. They knew full well that without the protection of the Twelve Divine Messengers, their mortal strength held no possibility, no qualification, to impede Xu Yang’s power.

Just before the messenger fully succumbed to the dream, Xu Yang had already extracted all of his memories and past experiences into his own soul. From these memories, Xu Yang learned the hiding place of the final temple of the Second Divine Temple world: it was concealed at the highest point of this world’s cloud peaks.

This location did not, by any means, exceed Xu Yang’s expectations. Gods are inherently lofty beings, and they consistently choose a site beyond the reach of mortals as the location for their sanctum.

Therefore, the ultimate nexus of all faith energy in the Second Divine Temple world lay at the very summit of the firmament, far above the endless layers of clouds.
