Chapter 2467: The Bu Tribe

The Rongdao realm experts who dared to enter this place to seize the treasured items were almost all at the pinnacle of the Rongdao realm, as only such strength qualified them to participate. Therefore, there was little difference in their cultivation levels, meaning their foundational Dao power was nearly identical. The true disparity lay in their respective Dao Weapons and combat techniques, especially the latter, which often proved to be the decisive factor in matters of life and death.

The Rongdao cultivator who attacked Lu Ye simply couldn't imagine that anyone in this world could receive his full-strength strike bare-handed, without relying on a Dao Weapon. This defied all common sense. His full-strength attack contained two hundred and forty-nine strands of power. What kind of Rongdao cultivator could possess such strength in a bare-handed state? For a moment, he almost suspected he had encountered a Hedao cultivator.

Then he saw Lu Ye's other hand clench into a fist and smash towards his face. "I'll die!" A powerful warning flashed in his mind. He immediately wanted to retreat, but it was too late. After a moment of terror, his consciousness sank, and he plunged into darkness.

Lu Ye continued his advance without stopping, merely shaking the blood off his hand casually, proceeding forward with a leisurely stride.

On the other side, the bald Rongdao cultivator was enduring his opponent's attacks, trying to leave the area. When he first saw Lu Ye, he hadn't paid much attention, casually calling out "Brother Gao" simply to divert trouble to Lu Ye. But with Lu Ye's response, he quickly realized something was wrong, because Lu Ye appeared too calm, a calmness that made one uneasy. In such a situation, he naturally didn't dare to linger, as he vaguely sensed that Lu Ye's strength might be extraordinary. Only someone supremely confident in their strength would casually enter a conflict zone like that.

Yet, his opponent relentlessly clung to him. Just as he was secretly fretting, he witnessed how brutally Lu Ye killed his foe. This horrifying scene was seen not only by him but also by the opponent entangled with him. At this, both of them dared not entangle each other any longer and fled in two different directions.

Lu Ye's Dao power suddenly surged. As his long saber swept down, a blade light shot through the air, instantly reaching the back of the Rongdao cultivator who had been with the one just killed. The man hastily turned to block, but it was futile. The blade light pierced his body without hindrance, its terrifying destructive power robbing him of all vitality.

Lu Ye's gaze shifted, looking at the bald Rongdao cultivator. Standing his ground, he raised his Panshan Saber, which had just swept down, high again, his divine sense locking onto the fleeing man from afar. The bald Rongdao cultivator was terrified. Having witnessed Lu Ye's horrific killing methods, he knew that although he possessed a protective Dao Weapon whose defensive power was superior to that of the two who had died, he had no confidence in his ability to withstand Lu Ye's assault. Continuing to flee would undoubtedly mean death! A decision was made in an instant.

Just as Lu Ye was about to strike again, he was surprised to see the bald Rongdao cultivator suddenly halt, then quickly turn around, his knees buckling as he dropped to the ground, adopting a kowtow posture. He loudly exclaimed, "Senior Daoist, spare my life!" To demonstrate his sincerity in begging for mercy, he even retracted the power of his Dao Weapon, his Dao power settling, adopting a stance of absolute non-resistance.

Lu Ye's eye twitched slightly. Since entering the Star Abyss, whether in the Outer Realm or Inner Realm, he had encountered too many Rongdao cultivators and killed countless more. These Rongdao cultivators had adopted various stances before death, and some had indeed pleaded for mercy. But none had ever done so as thoroughly as this bald man before him. In such an undefended state, if Lu Ye truly intended to kill him, he wouldn't even have the chance to resist.

He naturally wouldn't show mercy because of the opponent's plea. They had no rapport; this fellow had just tried to divert trouble onto him. Since he had entered this place, he was an enemy. Killing him might even yield a Star Abyss Coin.

Blade light pulsed on the saber, its edge shining like a brilliant rainbow. Just as Lu Ye was about to unleash this strike, the bald man hastily cried, "Senior Daoist, please spare me! I can help you find the location where the treasured item will appear!"

The killing intent enveloping him slowly dissipated. The bald man let out a long breath, realizing he had said the right thing. Without that sentence just now, he would surely be dead. A pair of feet suddenly appeared in his vision. Only then did the bald Rongdao cultivator slowly raise his head, meeting Lu Ye's condescending gaze. He pulled at the corners of his mouth, revealing a fawning smile.

Lu Ye squatted down and looked directly into his eyes: "Dare to deceive me, and you'll know what a fate worse than death feels like!"

"I wouldn't dare, I wouldn't dare!" the bald Rongdao cultivator quickly shook his head, attempting to straighten up. Seeing Lu Ye had little reaction, he then said, "Senior Daoist, have you not heard of our Divination Clan?"

Lu Ye truly hadn't heard of them, but creatures in the Star Abyss came from various star systems, with all sorts of strange and unusual races. It wasn't uncommon for him to encounter races he'd never seen or heard of.

The bald man continued, "Our Divination Clan has few members, so it's normal that Senior Daoist hasn't heard of us. However, we possess a unique innate divine ability that allows us to divine the future for others. Of course, not everything can be divined, and there are many restrictions and conditions involved, but..."

Lu Ye interrupted his incessant chatter: "So, you're saying you want to use your innate divine ability to help me divine the location where the treasured item will appear?"

The bald man nodded repeatedly: "Senior Daoist is truly insightful, that's exactly right!"

Lu Ye looked at him with a mix of belief and doubt, somewhat unsure if he truly had this ability or if he was simply trying to save his life. After thinking for a moment, he asked, "If you truly have this ability, why don't you go claim the treasured item yourself?"

The bald man gave a wry smile: "It's like a physician who cannot cure himself. Our clan can divine all matters in the Star Abyss, but we cannot divine our own fate. Forcibly divining for oneself leads to endless repercussions." Seeing Lu Ye still pondering, he quickly urged, "In any case, there's no loss for Senior Daoist, so why not give it a try?"

Lu Ye thought about it and nodded, saying, "Then give it a try."

The bald man finally straightened up completely, maintaining a cross-legged sitting posture in front of Lu Ye: "Senior Daoist, if my divination is accurate, will you spare my life?"

"No problem. You're the first Rongdao cultivator I've met who's so terrified of death. Killing you or not makes no difference." He originally wanted to say that killing such a Rongdao cultivator would dirty his hands, but considering the man was about to help him with divination, he changed his wording.

The bald man said nonchalantly, "There's nothing wrong with being afraid of death. Our clan's motto is: as long as you're alive, bowing your head and begging for mercy is not shameful." Then he hesitantly added, "Senior Daoist, you really will let me go, won't you?"

Lu Ye stared at him expressionlessly.

"I believe Senior Daoist is a man of his word." The bald man dared not ask further, primarily because he was weaker and didn't dare to ask Lu Ye to swear by the will of the Star Abyss.

"Begin!" Lu Ye urged.

The bald man immediately sat upright. With a flip of his hand, he produced three turtle-shell-like objects from somewhere. Lu Ye raised his gaze to look, seeing that these three turtle shells had clearly suffered the erosion of long ages, preserved from who knew how many years ago. Their surfaces were severely weathered and mottled, with complex patterns, and faint dark red traces within the patterns, appearing to be residual bloodstains.

"Senior Daoist, I need a drop of your blood," the bald man looked at Lu Ye expectantly.

Lu Ye's long saber emerged three inches from its sheath at his waist. He ran a finger along the blade, then flicked it, sending a drop of crimson blood flying. The bald man immediately caught the drop of blood in his hand. At that instant, his entire demeanor underwent a dramatic change. Just moments ago, he had been utterly fawning, entirely appearing as a cowardly wretch. Now, however, his expression turned solemn, revealing a dignified demeanor.

With a slight movement of his other hand, the three turtle shells suddenly floated up, circling around him. Following this, wisps of blood mist diffused, evidently the result of Lu Ye's drop of blood atomizing. The blood mist enveloped the three turtle shells, causing them to spin faster and faster around him. After just a few breaths, the three turtle shells transformed into ethereal shadows. In their place, a series of strange and complex characters flickered incessantly around the bald man.

Furthermore, the bald man muttered incantations, but even with careful listening, Lu Ye couldn't make out what he was muttering, only that the syllables he uttered were extremely arcane.

A moment later, the bald man's expression suddenly turned pained. As he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, all phenomena around him vanished. The three turtle shells sequentially landed, forming a straight line in front of him. On the interweaving surfaces of the turtle shells, intricate runes flickered incessantly.

Lu Ye didn't know what this seemingly uncomplicated divination consumed, but the bald man's current state was clearly somewhat dispirited. Of course, this didn't rule out the possibility that he was deliberately acting this way to gain sympathy.

"Senior Daoist..." The bald man gasped faintly. "Follow this direction, and Senior Daoist will find the greatest gain from this trip!"

Lu Ye looked down at the direction indicated by the three turtle shells and asked, "No mistake?"

"There will certainly be no mistake!" The bald man's tone and demeanor were extremely confident.

Lu Ye nodded. His purpose for this trip was to claim the Moon Wheel treasured item. If the divination result from this Divination Clan member was accurate, then the indicated direction was undoubtedly the location where the treasured item would appear, and only then could it be considered the greatest gain from this trip.

With a result in hand, Lu Ye had no intention of lingering. He stood up, ready to leave. The bald man behind him, seeing that Lu Ye indeed had no intention of killing him, couldn't help but sigh in relief. However, when he looked down at the three turtle shells again, he suddenly seemed to discover something, frowning as he raised his hand and said, "Senior Daoist, wait!"

Lu Ye stopped, turning his head to look back. The bald man's expression was extremely grave as he gazed intently at the constantly shifting runes on the three turtle shells: "Senior Daoist, it seems you will face great peril on this trip!"

Lu Ye asked nonchalantly, "How much peril?"

The bald man looked up, his face solemn: "On the brink of death!"

Lu Ye looked at him indifferently, then turned around, raised his hand to grip the hilt of his Panshan Saber, and slowly drew it. It wasn't that he couldn't stand unpleasant words, but rather that he doubted this fellow's divination abilities. With his current strength, he was virtually unrivaled within this starry spectacle. Unless he deliberately sought death by challenging the spiritual treasure, the Moon Wheel, how could he possibly face such grave peril, a matter of life and death? And given his personality, he certainly wouldn't do something foolish like provoke a spiritual treasure with sentience.
