Chapter 918: Getting Along

Although many mysteries were resolved, the troubles remained. However, Li Huowang's attitude had changed.

"So it's just the Divinities Yu'er Shen and Shidu? Bring it on! Your schemes didn't succeed before, and they won't succeed now!" Li Huowang, understanding everything, was filled with fighting spirit.

He was fearless, no matter how much karma he had to sever or how many cycles of reincarnation he had to endure, as long as he could finally achieve his goal. He wasn't even afraid of death, let alone this.

Just then, with a soft thud, a plate of scrambled eggs with tomatoes over rice was placed in front of Li Huowang.

Li Huowang looked up at Wu Qi, who had brought the food. "Thanks, one portion is enough. I'm full."

"Who said this meal was for you? It's for someone else."

"For someone else? Who?" A question mark popped up in Li Huowang's mind. Who hadn't eaten that he needed to deliver food to?

"It's for your girl. She's staying upstairs right now. You haven't forgotten you have a girlfriend, have you?"

"Yang Na?" Li Huowang suddenly realized. With the severing of karma, Yang Na, whom he had sent home, had naturally returned to Qing Wanglai's villa. She was here to find him.

"I wanted to tell you when you first arrived, but as soon as you came in, you started endlessly chatting with Zhao Shuangdian and Qing Wanglai. I couldn't get a word in."

"Normally, I wouldn't pry into your personal affairs, but your girlfriend doesn't seem to be in good spirits. She hasn't eaten much lately. See if you can get her to eat more. If you can't, I'll have to put her on an IV drip."

"Thanks, Sister Wu." Thinking of Yang Na's current situation, Li Huowang's mood darkened. He picked up the plate of rice and headed upstairs with an indescribable feeling.

It was still the third room. As Li Huowang pushed open the door, he saw Yang Na, curled up on the bed in the corner, looking incredibly haggard.

"Come, Nana. You must be hungry. Eat first." Li Huowang helped her from the bed to the table.

"Huowang? Huowang, is that you?" Yang Na gripped Li Huowang's wrist tightly, as if terrified he might leave.

Immediately, she noticed Li Huowang's empty eye sockets. Her heart aching, she reached out to touch them. "Huowang, where are your eyes? What happened to them? I'm so sorry, is it because of me? Did I cause you this trouble?"

"No." Li Huowang held her hand tightly in his own, his heart aching as he looked at the wound on her wrist. He gently explained, "It's not because of you. It has nothing to do with you at all. Don't blame yourself. You didn't cause me trouble; I caused you trouble."

"That's good, that's good. But you don't have eyes anymore, and my heart still aches so much." After saying this, Yang Na's incredibly haggard face lit up with a radiant smile. "Huowang, I believe you. I truly do. Whatever you say next, I'll believe it. I am Wusheng Laomu, a Divinity just like you."

Yang Na's words pierced Li Huowang's chest like a sharp knife. Although he had experienced this once before, enduring it again still caused him immense heartache.

Li Huowang didn't want to show sadness, fearing Yang Na would blame herself again. He forced a smile. "That's good. That's good."

This time, Li Huowang didn't want to send Yang Na back. Since severing karma would bring them back to square one next time anyway, he decided to let Yang Na be as happy as possible.

He would treat it as a dream from which she could awaken at any moment. After all, when the time came, no one else but him would know what had transpired.

"Huowang, I'm Wusheng Laomu now. I'm a Divinity. I can help you. I'm not a burden anymore." Yang Na leaned her head affectionately against Li Huowang's chest, speaking as if half-asleep.

"You're not a burden. You can help me. Nana is the best. Come, eat your food first." Li Huowang, like coaxing a child, picked up a spoon, scooped up some scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and held it to her mouth.

He fed her bite by bite. Watching Yang Na eat and gradually regain some color, Li Huowang's heart finally felt a little lighter.

"Huowang, don't worry about me. You don't blame me, I feel much better. I can move." The weak Yang Na started to push Li Huowang away, but he quickly held her back.

"Listen to me, get some good rest first. It's night now. We can talk about anything else tomorrow."

After Yang Na finished the plate of rice and Li Huowang had comforted her thoroughly, he came out, carrying the plate.

As soon as he stepped out, he saw Qing Wanglai standing at the doorway, waiting for him.

Seeing Qing Wanglai's friendly smiling face, Li Huowang clenched his fists tightly, then slowly relaxed them. He carried the plate and headed downstairs.

"You'll be staying here tonight, won't you? The room has been prepared." As long as his interests weren't involved, Qing Wanglai always seemed flawless.

"No need. I'll just stay in this room, with Yang Na." Li Huowang walked past him and continued down the stairs.

"Yang Na has awakened. That's good news. We have another one on our side."

*Thump!* Li Huowang's fist finally swung out. "I'm warning you! Don't involve her! Or I'll kill you!"

Qing Wanglai chuckled, wiping the injury on his face with the back of his hand. "Li Huowang, you're being unreasonable. Since she can help, wouldn't it be a waste not to use her?"

"Besides, have you asked for *her* opinion? Perhaps she doesn't want to waste her own talent. Even if she doesn't kill people, she could at least peel some fruit."

Li Huowang grabbed the ceramic plate and smashed it against the stair railing. With a clatter of shattering ceramic, a sharp shard was pressed against Qing Wanglai's neck by Li Huowang. "I said no! Are you deaf?"

"I'm not deaf, but Li Huowang, what exactly are you afraid of? Didn't you say that killing a Divinity would reset everything back to the starting point? If that's the case, what does it matter? I think you're overthinking things."

"We don't have many people right now. One more person means one more chance of success."

Hearing this, just as the anger in Li Huowang's heart reached its peak, he suddenly stopped and released the ceramic shard in his hand.

"Fine then," Li Huowang said, "I'll take Yang Na and go join Zhao Shuangdian's alliance right now."

"Hmm?" Qing Wanglai frowned.

"Didn't you say that one more person means one more chance of success? So, if I take Yang Na and ally with Zhao Shuangdian, that should satisfy your requirements, right?" Li Huowang looked at Qing Wanglai with amusement.

Seeing that Qing Wanglai had fallen silent, he held the ceramic shard in his hand and slowly walked down the stairs.

At that moment, Li Huowang finally found a way to communicate with Qing Wanglai, that genuinely despicable person. Threats of violence were useless. Wu Qi had been right; as long as he found the pattern, such people were actually easy to get along with.
