Li Huowang looked up at the huge main hospital building, and the large red characters "Sixth People's Hospital" on it.
This was the address Qian Fu had given him. The friend he claimed could help lived here.
It was ten o'clock in the morning, the time they had agreed to meet.
Li Huowang looked around and spotted Qian Fu standing anxiously in the sunlight, looking around. Clearly, he had arrived much earlier, carrying some items in a black bag.
He walked over with Yang Na, pausing briefly in front of Qian Fu without a word, then continued straight into the hospital.
Qian Fu clearly understood Li Huowang's unspoken signal and immediately followed.
After they met up in the hospital lobby, Li Huowang said to him, "Go for the visit. Find the helper you're looking for."
Qian Fu nodded calmly. "Don't worry, I know this place better than you. Can I borrow your ID? I didn't bring mine."
As they went through the visiting procedures, Li Huowang learned the name of Qian Fu's so-called helper: Chen Hongyu.
"That sounds like a girl's name, Huowang. Do you think she's this uncle's girlfriend?" Yang Na asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
"If there's any relationship, it could only be his wife. At his age, she couldn't be his girlfriend."
Li Huowang felt a faint sense of worry. It wasn't about the helper being mentally ill, but whether Qian Fu's friend could genuinely be of assistance.
With someone so erratic, believing even half of what he said would be a good outcome.
As the two talked, the door was pushed open, and a tall, heavy-set woman walked out.
The woman was very heavy-set, appearing to be in her forties or fifties. Her eyes were dull and drooping, giving her a listless look. Her forehead and cheeks were covered in red acne, and her cuffs and collar were filthy. Her scalp was clearly visible through her sparse hair.
Her entire appearance was undeniably shabby.
"Hongyu! Hongyu! It's been ages since we last met!" Upon seeing the woman, Qian Fu excitedly rushed forward. "Look what I brought you!"
He then opened the black plastic bag, proudly revealing its contents: half a yellowed green apple, roasted eggplant skin wrapped in tinfoil, and two unfinished bottles of drinks.
"Did you dig this out of a trash can?" Hongyu asked with a look of disgust. "Do you think I eat garbage?"
"Don't be ungrateful. When we were vagrants, finding things like these was like celebrating the New Year."
Glancing at the surveillance camera, Li Huowang quickly snatched the bag from Qian Fu and threw it into a nearby trash can.
He leaned close to Qian Fu's ear and said sternly, "Do you want to get yourself locked up?! Act normal!"
Noticing Li Huowang's gaze, Qian Fu stopped trying to retrieve the discarded items.
Li Huowang pushed Qian Fu aside and sat in the visitor's chair. He looked up at the woman. "Hello, my name is Li Huowang. Your parents asked me to check on you. How have you been at the hospital lately? How's your condition?"
Hongyu, with her drooping eyes, smirked, forming a fake smile. "Just say what you want directly. Don't pretend; they can't hear you."
Hearing this, Li Huowang immediately felt a sense of relief. At least this old woman seemed far more reliable than Qian Fu.
Li Huowang decided to drop the act and quickly recounted everything he had experienced.
However, as soon as he finished, he was met with her mockery. "Hehehe, Qian Fu is a mental patient. How dare you believe what he says?"
"Uh, Hongyu," Qian Fu, with a pleading look, tilted his head back, looking at the heavy-set woman again. "Stop joking. You must have felt it too, right? They've really come. They're not just after Li Huowang; if Li Huowang is gone, they'll come for us. The Leo aliens are insatiable."
Hongyu ignored Qian Fu and looked back at Li Huowang. She said lazily, "He's crazy. They are actually just ordinary people who are trying to exploit you. They are a very organized group hiding in the shadows."
"Oh?" Li Huowang's heart brightened. He had finally found someone who wasn't mentally ill and seemed to be in the know. "Please continue. How much do you know about them?"
As Hongyu hesitated, Qian Fu spoke up from beside her. "It's alright, Hongyu, tell him. He's one of us. He's the one who rescued me."
Hearing this, Hongyu finally spoke. "They don't just target you; they target others too. I was once captured by them, but I managed to escape."
"Why? Why do they do this? Who exactly are they?"
"They do this because they want to steal my superpowers! As the saying goes, 'He who possesses a jade is innocent, but a common man who holds it is responsible.' They are actually an underground group attempting to seize supernatural abilities!"
"..." Hearing this, Li Huowang was momentarily at a loss for words.
He turned to look at Qian Fu again, suddenly feeling very foolish for having trusted his words.
"..." Li Huowang looked at Chen Hongyu with a very complex expression. "Schizophrenia?"
"What? You don't believe me? Don't you think you have superpowers? Don't tell me you don't know. If you hadn't displayed your superpowers, why would they come after you?"
"Superpowers? How could I—" As he spoke, Li Huowang suddenly remembered something, shaking his head vigorously. "No, that's not it, absolutely not."
Just then, Qian Fu interjected from the side. "Hongyu, look, I'm out now. You should come out too. Let's work together and solve all these problems for good!"
"No, I won't. It's too tiring. I'm too lazy for that. You can fight to the death out there; I'm perfectly fine watching from here. Anyway, they can't do anything to me while I'm here," Chen Hongyu said, turning to leave.
Hearing this, Qian Fu became anxious. He looked around, then suddenly snatched Bai Lingmiao's shoulder bag and quickly rummaged through it. "I'll give you money! See? All red bills! If you help, all this money is yours! And! How can you be so sure they can't get in, that you're truly safe?"
Looking at the banknotes in Qian Fu's hand, Chen Hongyu, who had been about to leave, suddenly stopped. When she turned around, a hint of greed appeared on her plump face.
She extended five fingers, with black dirt under the nails, directly towards Li Huowang and the others. "Fifty thousand! After it's done, you give me fifty thousand yuan — fifty thousand per person — and I'll deal with them."
