Chapter 88: Flying Sword?

From the scene, the man attacking with brute force seemed to have the absolute advantage. However, unbeknownst to anyone, this seemingly mighty individual was secretly suffering immensely.

Each punch he delivered caused the golden light to dent inward and the entire golden shield to tremor, making it seem as if tearing apart the opponent's defense was only a matter of time.

Yet, who knew that every time his hands and feet touched the golden light, they were met with a resilient rebound force? As he increased his power, this rebound grew more intense, leaving his hands and feet in severe pain. He estimated they would swell immediately once he stopped exerting force.

Furthermore, this layer of golden light was incredibly tough. Any area he dented would immediately spring back to its original shape once he withdrew his attack, as if it had never been struck. Even continuous attacks on the same spot only kept the area depressed, without allowing him to penetrate any deeper.

The formidable man's assault continued for a while, yet the golden shield remained quivering, appearing as though it could break at any moment.

By this point, everyone's perception had shifted completely. They all realized the man could not break through the shield; his immense strength could at most cause it to tremble, but not truly destroy it.

Consequently, Jia Tianlong abandoned the idea of sending anyone forward, and even the dwarf himself calmed down.

However, due to his earlier embarrassment, the Golden Light Master's expression turned resentful, and his gaze towards the man grew more malicious. Yet, because he was continuously subjected to attacks and struggled to maintain his balance, his spellcasting kept failing during this time. He then simply stopped chanting incantations, instead fixing his eyes on his opponent and muttering curses in a dialect no one else could understand.

The man, seemingly oblivious to these changes, continued his furious assault on the golden shield. Just when onlookers thought he would not stop until he was utterly exhausted,

"Bang, bang, boom!" After exerting all his strength for a final two punches and one kick, the man suddenly turned and bolted. Despite his massive build, his speed was surprisingly swift.

The man's sudden action astonished the bystanders, who then erupted in an uproar.

The Golden Light Master was also momentarily stunned, but immediately flew into a rage. He quickly sat cross-legged, placed a black box horizontally on his lap, and began chanting incantations. He raised his fingers to his chest, adopting a strange posture, and they began to tremble with effort. His fingers shook so strenuously, as if each one was pulling a thousand catties of weight.

At this point, the man was only a few steps away from the Seven Mysteries Sect's main formation, about to rejoin the crowd. Suddenly, a loud shout of "Rise!" echoed from behind him. He then saw Wang Juechu and others opposite him suddenly blanch, almost simultaneously yelling, "Watch out!"

Startled, the man quickly darted to his left, simultaneously turning to look.

A hazy gray light, swift as lightning, streaked past him from where he had just stood.

The man's heart chilled, but he quickly relaxed. Since he had dodged the projectile, he could now reunite with his two fellow disciples and be completely safe.

Before he could finish this thought, he suddenly felt an intense pain in his right arm. He instinctively looked down, but before he could clearly see what happened, another round of gasps erupted, including the anxious voices of his two senior disciples.

The man froze, somewhat bewildered. At that moment, a flash of light appeared before his eyes, and a gray streak pierced through his chest. Its shape was identical to the projectile he had just dodged.

Shocked and enraged, the man tried to speak, but his body abruptly collapsed to the ground with a thud. Only then did he realize his right arm had been severed at the shoulder at some unknown point, and blood was gushing out.

"What just happened?" The man's vision went black, and he lost consciousness, filled with unanswered questions and bitter unwillingness.

The man never understood what had transpired, even in his final moments, but the onlookers from the Savage Wolf Gang and the Seven Mysteries Sect had witnessed everything clearly.

They saw that after the dwarf finished his incantations and chanted "Rise!", a strip of gray light flew out from the black box. After circling above the dwarf's head once, it shot directly towards the man, guided by the dwarf's pointing finger.

Although the man cleverly tilted his body and dodged the initial strike aimed at his chest, his arm quietly slid off after the gray light brushed past his shoulder. It seemed the gray light was so incredibly sharp that the man hadn't even noticed what had happened.

Then, something even more astonishing occurred. After being dodged, the gray streak, controlled by the dwarf's flicking fingers, suddenly made a sharp turn beyond the man by about ten feet and rushed back towards him, easily ending the life of the utterly unprepared man.

Everyone was stunned by this sight, and their gazes converged on the gray light that had flown back to hover above the dwarf's head.

The term "flying sword" spontaneously surfaced in the minds of most people. Although these individuals were unaware of the existence of cultivators, they had all heard numerous legends about flying swords from various tales.

This gray streak was incredibly similar to, almost identical with, the flying swords used by legendary sword immortals.

Could this unassuming dwarf actually be a legendary sword immortal? Most people now looked at the Golden Light Master with awe, as the title of "sword immortal" was certainly enough to intimidate many mortals.

The Golden Light Master, now arrogant and haughty, proudly manipulated the gray streak. It flew up and down above his head, twisting into a long, gray python, eliciting gasps of admiration from the Savage Wolf Gang's side, while the Seven Mysteries Sect fell into a deathly silence.

If Jia Tianlong's side, boosted by the assistance of a sword immortal, had soaring morale, and the Seven Mysteries Sect, disoriented by this unexpected event, saw their fighting spirit wane considerably, then Han Li was the only one present who felt ecstatic upon seeing the gray light.

He realized that the incantations and hand gestures the Golden Light Master used to control the gray light were identical to the "Object Manipulation Art" he had learned. While he wasn't sure if the gray light was a flying sword, it was definitely being controlled by the Object Manipulation Art, of that there was no doubt.

Now, Han Li's mind was consumed with thoughts of killing to seize treasures. It seemed his interest in cultivators was growing exponentially.
