Commentary: When the character of the Fish Shop Owner was first conceived, I had intended to write extensively about him, depicting him as a major supporting character. However, due to other plot considerations, he was not further developed in later chapters. This fan-fiction writer has not included many fan-fiction elements, but the emotional descriptions are particularly detailed and unique.

Foreword —

Among the many supporting characters in "A Mortal's Journey to Immortality," the Fish Shop Owner is undoubtedly one of the most intriguing! He constantly brought me one surprise after another, even shock. But what kind of person is he exactly? He possesses pure True Spirit Blood of the Peacock, yet he is not like the Five-Light Clan members; he is not a Sky-Peng Clan member, yet he can open a shop in a holy city; he can cultivate spirit beasts like the "Thunder Beast," yet he finds himself trapped in the Abyss for some rare ores...

What secrets are hidden within him?!

This article aims to unravel the mystery of the Fish Shop Owner's origins, using the format of a book review competition to present my views. The article is quite long, so for ease of reading, it's divided into three parts:

Chapter One: "Where the Dream Begins" — The Mystery of His Origin;Chapter Two: "The Butterfly's Eyes" — His Growth History;Chapter Three: "The Broken-Winged Angel" — Epilogue.

It is indeed very long, and the article is written in the first person, so perhaps very few people will have the interest to read it completely. However, I truly spent over ten hours writing it with great care, so I'm putting it out there, hoping someone enjoys it and that you all offer many suggestions! Thank you.

Chapter One: Where the Dream Begins —

The instant my physical body exploded, a long-forgotten feeling of powerlessness suddenly washed over me, so distant, yet so clear. It was as if I had returned to those years after my mother left, filled with loneliness, helplessness, and confusion...

Mother, I miss you so much!

I thought I could finally escape the entanglement of the Flying Spirit Clan, but this guy also wanted my "Spirit-absorbing Ore." How could I give that to him?! That was the hope I had held onto for thousands of years! Without it, how could I open that auxiliary space and rescue you?!

Why? Why can't these people just leave us alone, why won't they let us live in peace?! If those hypocritical individuals hadn't driven us, mother and son, out of the Five-Light Clan's Holy City back then, would our lives have been so difficult? Though I was young at the time and didn't understand why they would expel you, who was already a Saint Lord of the Five-Light Clan, from the Holy City, I later understood from the strange looks of the people around us. It was because of my father, because of me, a "bastard" from another continent.

I never met my father at birth; I don't know what he looked like, and I rarely heard you, Mother, mention him voluntarily. Later, as I grew up and started hearing "father" from the people around me, I came to ask you. Oh, I can still never forget the scene that day. Although you tried hard to calm yourself, you couldn't hide the sorrow of betrayal in your eyes. I had never seen you so melancholic.

You told me Father had gone to a very, very distant place, and only when I grew up and became a Spirit Commander could you take me to find him, and then our family would live together forever, never to be separated again.

I believed you. I told you I would cultivate diligently to become a Spirit Commander as soon as possible, and then go with you to see Father. You were very happy to hear that and even suggested we have a competition to see who progressed the fastest! And so, I began a long, arduous, yet also the happiest period of cultivation, because having a goal always makes things particularly invigorating!

I was born with a "Thunder Spirit Root," with no bottleneck for Core Formation, and I cultivated a "Thunder Spirit Art" of the Sky-Peng Clan, which specializes in lightning power. To this day, I don't know how Mother obtained this advanced cultivation method, which was confidential even within the Sky-Peng Clan, and it was a complete set, enough to allow me to cultivate to the Saint Stage.

In my memory, you, Mother, were always so loving, so strong, as if there was nothing you couldn't do. Only later did I gradually learn that Mother was originally a favored daughter of heaven, possessing the royal bloodline of the Five-Light Clan. Her talent was extraordinary; in less than three hundred years, she became a Spirit General, was granted the title of "Saint Son," and successfully passed the "Abyss Trial" during her late Spirit General stage, becoming a "Saint Lord" of the Five-Light Clan. From then on, you became the hope for the future of the Five-Light Clan; they spared no effort to nurture you, and you did not disappoint them. In just a thousand years, you advanced to the Spirit Commander realm, hailed by the Five-Light Clan as the "Saint Lord" most likely to enter the Saint Stage.

However, everything changed that year! That year, you went out alone for a trial, staying away for twenty years, and when you returned, I was born. This indeed caused quite a stir in the Five-Light Clan, because you, a "Saint Lord," had actually "illicitly communicated" with a non-human race. They said you had defiled the "Sacred Spirit Bloodline," which the Holy City could never tolerate! One "Saint Lord" even strongly demanded our execution, mother and son. Although those hypocrites ultimately considered the Five-Light Clan's reputation and did not carry out such a heinous act, Mother and I were still forced to leave the Holy City and ordered never to return!

And so, my mother and I left the Five-Light Clan's Holy City with nothing, and after moving through several Flying Spirit Clan holy cities, we finally settled in a remote small town not far from the Five-Light Clan's Holy City. It wasn't because we didn't want to live in the holy cities of these races, but mainly because these clans were very xenophobic; although they all belonged to the Flying Spirit Clan, they were very hostile to each other. Mother didn't show much disappointment about this, seeming quite accepting of the arrangement. Only later did I understand that it was all because of me.

Mother always said I was very lucky not to have shown the True Spirit Bloodline within me at birth, otherwise those Five-Light Clan members would absolutely not have let me live! It wasn't until I successfully condensed my Golden Core that the "True Spirit Blood" hidden in my body was activated, which made you, Mother, incredibly happy, because I not only inherited your True Spirit Bloodline but it was also exceptionally pure and refined!

But the biggest reason we could live safely in this place was another special talent I exhibited: the art of concealment! I could actually retract my aura at will, so even beings several stages higher than me couldn't detect it.

After a moment of surprise, Mother vaguely took out a box from her person, slowly opened it, and carefully pulled out a scroll. I remember clearly that it was a scroll that was neither quite paper nor quite silk. Mother read it very carefully, for more than half a day, before slowly looking up. I saw in her eyes that she had found the reason for my talent in concealment. Mother said this was something Father left for us, and it was the first time I heard Mother talk about Father's affairs.

Mother said Father came from another distant continent called the Thunderclap Continent, and was born into a race called the "Cloud Clan." This was a remarkable clan; although their population was small, each individual was very powerful. They were naturally skilled in the art of transformation and concealment, and also possessed a unique innate divine ability: the "Life-Bound Cloud Beast"!

I heard that once a Cloud Beast is cultivated, it not only means gaining an extra divine ability and an external incarnation that is identical to oneself, but in times of crisis, one can also merge with the Cloud Beast to transform into the legendary "Cloud Beast Giant Spirit." In such a state, not only does one's cultivation dramatically increase, but one can also cast some great divine abilities that were previously impossible.

Unfortunately, I couldn't cultivate this Cloud Beast divine ability. Mother speculated it might be related to my possession of the "True Spirit Blood" of the Five-Colored Peacock! I didn't mind it much, but I sensed a hint of regret in Mother's voice. She said she had witnessed Father driving his Cloud Beast to fight enemies, which was different from an ordinary external incarnation. Father had used it to slay a Barbarian "Iron Thorn Beast" two minor realms higher than himself...

Chapter Two: The Butterfly's Eyes —

Damn it! Can this guy really not let me go? My body, which was just about to reassemble, was completely shattered again by the gray threads spewed from his Black Mountain Peak. It seems I have no choice but to abandon this body. I hope my Nascent Soul can escape this calamity! This guy gives me a complete sense of defeat, and I hate this feeling!

Because in Mother's eyes, I had always been a cultivation genius; I formed my Nascent Soul in less than a hundred years and became a Spirit General in less than three hundred years. I especially loved seeing Mother's joy when my cultivation advanced, those were among the most beautiful memories I have. So I cultivated desperately; I wanted to become a Spirit Commander as quickly as possible, I wanted to make Mother happy, and we wanted to go find Father together!

Everything seemed so wonderful. My cultivation continued to slowly improve as always, but Mother remained stuck at the late Spirit Commander stage. However, after I became a Spirit General, Mother's trips outside became increasingly frequent, and the duration grew longer, sometimes even lasting for decades. Although she always said she was going out to find opportunities to break through her bottleneck, I always knew in my heart that she was accumulating cultivation resources for me. After all, when we were driven out of the Holy City, we were, so to speak, "financially embarrassed," and everything was slowly accumulated by Mother later on.

After becoming a Spirit General, I asked Mother more than once to let me accompany her on her trips, but she refused every time. She always said the outside world was very dangerous, and I was still too weak! Although I felt resentful at the time because my cultivation of the "Thunder Spirit Art" had indeed given me a high level of proficiency in controlling lightning power, and the "Glazed Sky-Penetrating Pagoda," my life-bound magical treasure that Mother had specially crafted for me at all costs, was also a spatial magic treasure with great power. But I didn't argue with Mother; I didn't want to make her unhappy, so I continued to cultivate diligently.

However, after I became a Spirit General, my cultivation speed began to slow down. It wasn't because I wasn't working hard enough, but because the pills required for advanced cultivation became difficult to obtain consistently. Although Mother brought some back every time she returned home, this couldn't satisfy my cultivation needs. It took me a full five hundred years to go from the early Spirit General stage to the mid-Spirit General stage! Yet, on the day I advanced to the mid-Spirit General stage, Mother still happily rewarded me with a very large "Thunder Crystal Stone," which was a treasure coveted by those who cultivated thunder-attribute techniques, making me excited for an entire night.

But from Mother's joyful eyes, I also saw a trace of helplessness. I knew she was worried about my future cultivation. In fact, I was also worried, and afraid. I wondered if one day Mother would leave and never return?

What must come, always comes. One day, after I had finally reached the peak of the mid-Spirit General stage, Mother decided to go out again. I will never forget that day. She called me to her side, gave me many cultivation items, and also gave me the scroll Father had left behind. She said she was going to a very distant place this time, and would be gone for a very long time. She spoke many words to me, more than any time before. Finally, Mother also left behind a sealed jade slip and a life-bound soul bead, sternly telling me that if she didn't return, I was not to go look for her, and that I should open the seal only after I became a Spirit Commander, and then I would understand everything. I kept nodding silently, always so obedient, even though I didn't truly pay attention to what she was saying, but I knew that perhaps only this way could Mother leave feeling at ease.

"You must be strong!" Those were Mother's last words to me.

One year, two years, ten years, twenty years, a hundred years, a thousand years... Mother never returned! In the days without Mother, everything was like the seven crescent moons in the night sky, appearing so cold and bleak. Although I managed to successfully enter the late Spirit General stage relying on the pills Mother left behind, I then had to plan my future cultivation myself, because I had to rely on myself to become a Spirit Commander.

I truly have to thank my parents for giving me such a physique, which not only made my cultivation in the field of lightning go smoothly but also allowed me to move freely among many Flying Spirit races with my transformation and concealment abilities. Although there were a few dangers along the way, I cleverly avoided them all. Time slowly passed amidst my longing for Mother, and I gradually came to understand the cruelty and helplessness of this world. I learned patience, and I also learned pragmatism.

Finally, after successfully breaking through the Spirit Commander bottleneck for the third time, I became a Spirit Commander! Mother, I didn't disappoint you; I succeeded! I couldn't wait to open the sealed jade slip, and then, I cried, truly cried!

This must have been the first time I cried since I could remember, for Mother, and for myself! It turned out that Mother's last journey was indeed to a very distant place: the Thunderclap Continent, where Father was born. She wasn't cruelly abandoning me; she was going to fight for a beautiful future for me, a fleeting chance.

She said she went with a few friends she had met in the Barren World. Although they had several keys that could grant access to that place, they didn't know what their chances of success were. But once they succeeded, we wouldn't have to worry about our future! Because it was said to be a fragmented space from the True Immortal Realm, a place called the "Northern Underworld Palace," where there were countless rare treasures, elixirs, and miraculous herbs.

Of course, that place was also full of dangers; only beings who had reached the Saint Stage dared to consider entering. They invited Mother, a Spirit Commander, to join them, mainly valuing her "Five Divine Light" divine ability. As my realm improved, my demand for cultivation pills and materials became increasingly particular, and Mother finally decided to take a gamble with them.

In the jade slip, Mother surprisingly mentioned Father's story, but I almost wished I hadn't known! Because Father was no longer in this world before I was born. He and Mother met and fell in love in the Barren World, and it was in the Barren World that they were separated forever. That time, they encountered a Saint-tier demonic bird from the Barren World, the "Thundercloud Eagle." Father, in order to save Mother, had his Cloud Beast clone destroyed by the "Thundercloud Eagle," which then ambushed Father. Although they eventually drove away the fierce bird, Father couldn't hold on due to severe injuries.

I didn't resent Mother for her past deception, for giving me a dream that could never be realized. Because I knew that without this dream, I wouldn't have achieved what I have today; without this dream, I might not have found my direction. I didn't impulsively rush to the Thunderclap Continent relying on my courage, nor did I cry and drown in the bitter sea of longing. I once again began the pursuit of another goal: to strive to enter the Saint Stage as soon as possible, and to bring Mother back with my own strength. Because I knew she was still waiting for me in that unknown space...

Chapter Three: The Broken-Winged Angel —

"Ah...!" A blinding golden lightning bolt instantly enveloped me, and time seemed to stop at that moment. It seems I am doomed today! Why? Why is this happening?! I am unwilling to accept this!!

I once cultivated so diligently, going to great lengths among the various Flying Spirit races, all to make myself stronger! I despised those "cowards" who rapidly ascended by relying on the power of their clansmen; I believed I could surpass them on my own. I went to the Abyss seven times, to the remote Barren Lands four times; I visited the Holy City of the Crimson Melt Clan, and the secret market of the Seven-Yue Clan; I stole treasures from the Five-Light Clan and opened a market stall in the Sky-Peng Clan.

Of course, I also experienced several life-or-death escapes during that time! The most memorable was the time I robbed a "Saint Lord" of the Five-Light Clan in the Abyss. Although I was pursued by the entire clan for two hundred years afterward and eventually had to hide in the Sky-Peng Clan's Holy City, I gained a secret art of the "Five-Light Clan"—the "Spirit Fusion Art." It was a secret art that combined "True Spirit Blood" to achieve a True Spirit Transformation, which could temporarily boost one's cultivation to a terrifying realm, though it consumed a considerable amount of true essence.

Through my own efforts, I also reached the late Spirit Commander stage. Although it took me a full three thousand years, I was still very satisfied! Because I had another bold plan, which was the treasure Father left me—the "Spirit Reversion Art."

It was recorded on the last page of that scroll, specifically designed for those who were congenitally unable to cultivate a "Life-Bound Cloud Beast." It required borrowing the Nascent Soul of an external spirit beast and refining it through a secret art to achieve the effect of human-beast fusion. Of course, it could also separate to exist as an individual entity, considered a true external incarnation.

Although this method of cultivating a "Life-Bound Cloud Beast" later in life carried a significant risk of cultivation backlash, it allowed the main body to leverage the Cloud Beast's innate talents for essential enhancement, thereby granting the main body some incredible great divine abilities. Therefore, the strength of the spirit beast itself would determine the effectiveness of the acquired "Life-Bound Cloud Beast" cultivation, and some people could even use this "Life-Bound Cloud Beast" cultivation to break through bottlenecks!

I spent over a thousand years searching every corner of the Flying Spirit Clan territories, and even deliberately went to the Barren Lands several more times, but I couldn't find a Thunder-attribute spirit beast that satisfied me. Just as I was beginning to lose heart, one day, in a strange tribal land in the Barren World, I unexpectedly obtained a Spirit Beast Cultivation Secret Art from the abode of a deceased senior expert, which had circulated down from the True Immortal Realm. Among them, a Thunder Beast Incubation Secret Art was the only complete technique recorded.

I was ecstatic at the time; if it was truly feasible, I could completely rely on the "Thunder Beast's" innate lightning talent, combined with the "Spirit Reversion Art," to further advance my cultivation. Of course, for this immortal realm secret art to succeed, it wasn't something a single person or a single family could easily bear.

It took another thousand years. After replacing those few materials that might have gone extinct in the Spirit Realm with other materials, I finally cultivated my own "Thunder Beast." Although I encountered some difficulties during the process, I ultimately succeeded! However, perhaps due to the material substitutions, my "Thunder Beast" still had some differences from the legendary true "Thunder Beast" said to exist only in the True Immortal Realm. Nevertheless, this beast's control over lightning power was quite remarkable. It could naturally command three distinctly different lightning-attribute divine abilities and was also skilled in a peculiar thunder-escape technique.

The "Thunder Beast" truly did not disappoint me. In less than a thousand years, it reached the initial Spirit Commander level. Although it cost me many precious materials and pills, the divine abilities it displayed in the field of lightning still greatly astonished me! Even at my perfected late Spirit Commander stage, I was barely able to subdue it. Had this beast not just entered the Spirit Commander stage with an unstable realm, coupled with the replica "Summoning Cave Heaven Map" Mother had left me, and the "Binding Thunder Scorching Light Grand Array" I had painstakingly set up beforehand, this guy might have truly escaped!

Even now, thinking about it sends shivers down my spine. An immature "Thunder Beast" already displayed such terrifying strength, showing its immense potential! It seems all the injuries I sustained wandering the Barren Lands and venturing into the Abyss were worth it; the "Azure Luo Fruit," "Thunder Spirit Stone," "Moro Pill"—these precious pills and materials were not wasted!

However, precisely because of the "Thunder Beast's" formidable display, I had to prematurely begin my "Life-Bound Cloud Beast" cultivation plan. I remember on the day I extracted the "Thunder Beast's" Nascent Soul, I enlisted three Sky-Peng Clan members skilled in lightning to assist me. I recall one young fellow was quite interesting, because he was only a mid-level Spirit General, but he almost ruined my plan later. Fortunately, he only needed the core of the "Azure Luo Fruit," and I also planned to leave the Sky-Peng Clan afterward, so I didn't dwell on it too much. But that guy did give me a sense of crisis at the time.

The "Spirit Reversion Art" on Father's scroll was truly powerful. It only took me four hundred years to completely fuse the "Thunder Beast's" essence with me. And in one fell swoop, I broke through the Spirit Commander bottleneck that had held me for many years and entered the Saint Stage. That was truly a wonderful feeling! At that moment, all the grievances, unwillingness, loneliness, and bitterness no longer mattered, because I could finally go to the Thunderclap Continent and rescue Mother. This must be what it feels like when a dream comes true!

Although I had just entered the Saint Stage, I felt like I had truly taken control of my destiny. By unleashing the "Spirit Fusion Art" with the extremely pure "True Spirit Blood" within my body, I was fully capable of fighting a late Saint Stage expert. If I were to combine it with the "Thunder Beast" transformation, using the "Thunder Beast's" innate divine abilities, I could even briefly utilize some "Laws of Thunder and Lightning." Of course, forcefully using such great divine abilities at the early Saint Stage would cause significant harm to my body, so I would only use them as a last resort.

What made me even more excited was that a few years ago, I heard that Flying Spirit Clan members had discovered a "Spirit-absorbing Ore Vein" in the Abyss and had mined many "Spirit-absorbing Stones." This was exactly what I had been searching for so diligently for so many years; it was the primary material for refining the spatial magic treasure, the "World-Transforming Stone." For these materials, I had stayed in the Sky-Peng Clan's Holy City for five hundred years, even specially opening a trading shop called "Myriad Thunder Pavilion" in the market. I never thought this item would now be in the Abyss. It seems the Flying Spirit Clan's rumors that the demon kings of the Abyss had left are true!

Very smoothly, I transformed into a rotating mine worker and entered the Abyss. While the leading Saint Stage elder was out on business, I secretly stole all the ore deposits. The only regret was that when breaking through the formations and restrictions set by the Flying Spirit Clan members, I had no choice but to use a formation-breaking divine ability in conjunction with my "Thunder Beast" transformation, which was surprisingly detected by a "Jade Crystal Beast" secretly placed by the Flying Spirit Clan. This was a mutated spirit beast naturally highly sensitive to smells. Although I eventually killed the beast and escaped, it also exposed my whereabouts, costing me the chance to leave the Abyss immediately!

I had no choice but to play a cat-and-mouse game with the Flying Spirit Clan's enforcement teams in the Abyss, searching for a way to escape. After several months, although I successfully escaped the enforcement teams' pursuit several times, I still couldn't find a way to leave the Abyss. Until the appearance of these three Sky-Peng Clan members, I thought my chance to escape had come. Who knew I would encounter such an "anomaly"!

What is the origin of this guy?! He actually possesses a "Punishment Beast," a spirit beast that should only exist in the Immortal Realm. Could he be a True Immortal descended?! But he's clearly only at the mid-Saint Stage! Is he truly just a hidden Saint Stage existence of the Sky-Peng Clan? He even seems to recognize me, but only three Sky-Peng people know about my "Thunder Beast"! Three people? Could that young fellow be a disguised old Saint Stage monster? Impossible...

Ah... so tired! I feel so powerless, as if I am slowly merging into this boundless void, letting the cool breeze cut through my thoughts and drift freely, drifting...

I don't know how long passed. In a haze, I seemed to truly be lying in Mother's arms again, so warm, so comfortable...

"Fei'er, name the child!""Ah-Zheng and I decided long ago. Let's call him Lu Chen!""Lu Chen? Yu-Lu-Chen..."
