Chapter 1753: True Fire Overcomes the Enemy

A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality, Volume 9: Hundred Races of the Spirit Realm

While the Rainbow Fish was indeed formidable, its power was nothing compared to its extreme rarity. Otherwise, it would not have been so quickly exterminated by powerful beings in the Spirit Realm, appearing only for a brief moment. It was truly unexpected for him to encounter such strange fish here.

Although ancient texts described the Rainbow Fish's venom as incredibly terrifying, Han Li remained somewhat skeptical.

Immediately, he waved one hand.

A layer of gray, frigid light barrier appeared before him. With a flick of his other palm, a surge of five-colored flames gushed forth. Both swirled, transforming into light barriers that completely enveloped and protected him.

Then, Han Li unhesitatingly shook his sleeve, and dozens of small green swords surged out. After circling briefly, they hummed as they split into hundreds of sword rays. Each ray was enveloped in a faint green glow, shimmering with cold light, densely filling the surrounding void.

Upon seeing this, the nearby Rainbow Fish—it was unclear which one—let out a sharp cry. Immediately, all the flying fish flashed and menacingly rushed towards Han Li.

"Slash!"

Han Li's expression darkened. He formed a hand seal with one hand and uttered a chilling low roar. Hundreds of sword rays trembled and shot out in all directions. Thick green beams swept wildly through the school of fish. Wherever the sword rays passed, all the flying fish were cut in half. Their bodies dissolved into showers of green liquid, falling from the sky. In an instant, over a thousand flying fish were annihilated, and a strong bloody stench rose in the vicinity!

Even though the Azure Bamboo Cloud-Swarm Swords were incredibly sharp, the incoming flying fish relentlessly pressed on, making it impossible to destroy them all at once. When other flying fish flew closer, they cried out and spewed out fist-sized green liquid orbs, which rained down on Han Li in a dense barrage.

Han Li's expression changed, and the sword incantation he was forming in his hand shifted again. The wildly sweeping sword rays suddenly contracted, transforming with a clear chime into a gigantic green lotus. As it slowly revolved, it completely shielded Han Li at its center under a curtain of swords. The hundreds of sword rays converged, completely adopting a defensive posture!

Han Li knew very well that as long as he could block the Rainbow Fish's venomous attacks, annihilating them all at once would not be impossible. After all, the Rainbow Fish's greatest reliance was merely the venom they spewed. Even though his cultivation had advanced significantly, he was still somewhat apprehensive about whether he could truly withstand such legendary potent venom. However, he was unwilling to simply give up without trying. That seven-colored pill was said to be extraordinarily potent and extremely useful for the Gold Devouring Beetles. If it could elevate the beetles' power to the next level, a little risk was worth taking. He knew he possessed several exotic treasures for protection and was proficient in several great divine abilities. Even if the situation turned dire, he would more than suffice in retreating safely.

At this moment, the outermost gigantic green lotus had fully bloomed. Its glistening green petals formed layers of green sword-curtains, appearing incredibly vibrant. A barrage of "thudding" sounds erupted! The green liquid orbs struck the lotus petals one after another. What appeared to be an impenetrable defense began to emit plumes of green smoke, followed by the appearance of holes of varying sizes. The green sword-curtain instantly became riddled with holes! The venom spewed by these flying fish could easily dissolve and penetrate even the sword rays formed by the Azure Bamboo Cloud-Swarm Swords. It was truly incredible.

Han Li was startled, but no panic showed on his face. Even though the Azure Bamboo Cloud-Swarm Swords were somewhat damaged, their mystical abilities allowed them to recover instantly. However, when the green liquid came into contact with the five-colored flames and began to rapidly dissolve them, a solemn expression finally appeared in his eyes, and the incantation in his hand changed once more.

The five-colored flames flashed and began to spin furiously, transforming into a five-colored whirlwind. Many of the incoming green liquid orbs were deflected. But there were simply too many Rainbow Fish around, and their spewed venom seemed endless. Even though the five-colored flames' power had been maximized, they were still rendered useless, revealing the innermost gray, hazy light barrier. The green liquid sprayed onto it, and a loud "sizzling" sound erupted.

Han Li's eyes twitched. He suddenly let out a cold snort and opened his mouth, spitting out a fist-sized ball of silver flames. With a "whoosh," the silver flames expanded greatly, becoming several feet in size. With a swift rotation, they transformed into a gigantic firebird.

"Go!" Han Li pointed without hesitation. The silver firebird spread its wings, emitting a clear cry. As it spread its wings, it darted out from within the gray light barrier. As the silver flames flickered, the incredibly potent green liquid, upon striking the silver firebird, seemingly met its nemesis and dissipated into multicolored mist, unable to harm the gigantic firebird.

Seeing this, Han Li was overjoyed. He was about to cast another spell to empower the silver firebird. Suddenly, a portion of the flying fish simultaneously let out strange cries, and then the green liquid they spewed was rapidly drawn together to a single point in the air. In an instant, a gigantic green python, formed entirely of venom, materialized. It was seven to eight zhang long and incredibly lifelike. The venomous python arched its body and, accompanied by a腥 wind, lunged directly at the silver firebird.

The firebird, naturally, showed no weakness. It flapped its wings a few times, then opened its beak and spewed out a dazzling jet of milky-white flames. It was the Golden Crow True Flame that the Spirit Devouring Firebird had absorbed back in the Demonic Gold Mountain Range. As soon as these flames collided with the venomous python, they surged severalfold as if fueled, engulfing the giant python in a raging inferno. In an instant, with a mournful cry, the venomous python vanished into nothingness in the white flames.

At this moment, Han Li let out another loud shout. Forming a hand seal with one hand, he pointed at the silver firebird from a distance. The gigantic firebird's fiery feathers flickered, instantly transforming entirely from silver to milky-white.

The next moment, with an earth-shattering "boom"! The firebird suddenly self-destructed. Countless fine threads of flame shot out in all directions. The green liquid that had been raining down from the sky was pierced by these threads of flame, exploding into balls of fire. In a flash, the Rainbow Fish's venomous attack halted! Meanwhile, the gray light barrier, which had been mostly dissolved, instantly glowed brightly and returned to its original state.

Seizing this opportunity, Han Li finally found a moment to act. His ten fingers rapidly pointed at the empty space before him. As bursts of green light flashed, the foot-long flying swords that had seemingly vanished reappeared in an instant. Then, under Han Li's full activation, they all blurred and materialized into layers of sword light, shooting out once more in all directions.

Although the Rainbow Fish continued to spew venom from their mouths, with countless white threads of flame dancing through the air, they could no longer pose any threat to the green sword light. Without the deterrent of the venom, hundreds of sword rays swept through the school of flying fish, cutting a path of destruction. The higher-cultivation flying fish could resist once or twice, but the lower-ranked Rainbow Fish had no escape and plummeted down as mangled corpses. Thus, with the combined efforts of the Spirit Devouring True Flames' fiery threads and numerous sword rays, after the time it takes to steep a cup of tea, all forty to fifty thousand Rainbow Fish were annihilated by Han Li alone.

However, after he waved his hand to recall the sword rays and the Spirit Devouring True Flames, the void was empty, but as his gaze swept downwards, he couldn't help but be stunned! On the lake surface, besides the mangled remains of the Rainbow Fish, there were even more corpses of other fish species, floating belly-up on the water. From a distance, the nearby lake surface was entirely covered in a sea of white, looking exceedingly eerie!

Han Li blinked. After glancing at the oddly pale green color of the nearby lake water a few more times, an expression of realization dawned on him. Although most of the venom previously spewed by the Rainbow Fish had been annihilated by the Spirit Devouring True Flames, a considerable amount had been deflected earlier and landed in the lake below, consequently poisoning many of the fish in the vicinity. While he already had some understanding of the venom's potency, the scene on the lake still sent a slight chill down his spine. If he hadn't cultivated the Spirit Devouring True Flames, even if he had other ways to deal with these flying fish, the process would certainly not have been as effortless as it was now. He would likely have had to expend significant spiritual energy to command the Gold Devouring Beetles or resort to using the Profound Heavenly Remnant Blade again. The repercussions of using those two methods were not minor. Naturally, he would not easily resort to them until absolutely necessary.

Han Li pondered, but then suddenly flicked his sleeve downwards. Immediately, a ball of white light shot out. With a flash, it transformed into a young girl with pigtails.

"Greetings, Master! How may I be of service?" The young girl was, of course, Qu'er. As soon as she appeared, she cheerfully bowed to Han Li and asked.

"Extract all the inner cores from these strange fish heads. I intentionally kept them intact during the battle. Once you're done, come find me on the island," Han Li instructed casually.

"Understood."

Qu'er readily agreed. With a shake of her shoulder, the air rent with whooshing sounds. Countless cold blades, emitting "swooshing" sounds, shot out from behind the girl. After a brief whirl, they swiftly darted towards the lake surface. The young girl herself moved, slowly drifting down towards the lake surface.

Han Li, meanwhile, activated his escape light, transforming into a green rainbow that shot straight towards the distant island.

A short while later, the escape light retracted. Han Li's figure appeared in the sky above the gray, towering peak. He narrowed his eyes and scanned the peak below. After a good while, he suddenly flipped his hand, and a gleaming golden disc appeared in his palm. Han Li lowered his head to look at it. This magical artifact had been sent to him by the Stone Cocoon Tribe before their departure. His eyebrow slightly arched.

He opened his mouth and exhaled a puff of green qi, which settled precisely over the golden disc. In a flash, the green qi vanished into the disc. Then, he raised his other hand and unleashed a white incantation, which also struck the artifact. A sudden change occurred! The golden disc flashed with golden light and began to hum loudly, as silver runes emerged from its surface. Then the artifact trembled and suddenly broke free from Han Li's grasp, transforming into a golden streak that shot towards the peak below.
