Chapter 763: Good Service Attitude

"Calculating the time, they should be here by now," Deacon Liu of the merchant guild muttered to himself.

As a deacon, he wasn't usually required to be at the front desk, but today was special and couldn't be taken lightly.

He had a private arrangement with the Four Thieves of Juxuan Island. Although his cultivation was low, his position in the Golden Coin Merchant Guild, combined with the leverage he held over the Four Thieves, meant they dared not harm him. Theirs was an equal partnership.

Of course, the Four Thieves also had leverage against him.

According to their plan, the Four Thieves of Juxuan Island were supposed to come to the guild today to deposit a coffin.

Generally, the guild didn't offer coffin storage services; it wasn't a funeral parlor. That's why he had been waiting here all day, to personally receive the Four Thieves.

"Old Liu, the president called for a brief meeting of all deacons and above," another deacon called out to him.

Deacon Liu frowned, surprised the president had called a meeting at such a crucial moment. He wanted to refuse but feared exposing himself, as the president disliked members who skipped meetings.

"What a hassle. Once I get my hands on the Dragon Clan's supreme treasure, I'll resign," he thought.

It seemed he would have to entrust this matter to a subordinate. However, he couldn't openly instruct them to accept a coffin; that would be too blatant and immediately raise suspicion.

He turned to a delicate-looking young woman and instructed, "Su Yu, remember, our guild's purpose is to serve our customers. Whatever requests they make, we must try our best to fulfill them. Do you understand?"

Su Yu was touched that the usually aloof Deacon Liu was instructing her. She quickly replied, "Deacon Liu, I've got it."

Deacon Liu nodded, pleased that she understood.

"Old Liu, let's go," his friend urged.

"Coming!"

Half an hour later, the meeting concluded. Instead of asking Su Yu, he went directly to the warehouse to check.

"There's no coffin in the warehouse yet. It seems they haven't arrived."

Deacon Liu came to the front desk and dismissed Su Yu. "All right, Su Yu, I'll be here. You can go back and rest now."

Su Yu was an outsider, and he couldn't risk her seeing the Four Thieves of Juxuan Island, as it might complicate things.

Deacon Liu stood at the front desk. Less than two minutes later, he saw Lu Yang and three others carrying a coffin enter the guild.

"Excuse me, do you offer coffin storage here?" Meng Jingzhou asked. He was the most familiar with the guild and was responsible for the interaction.

"Strangers," Deacon Liu thought to himself. "They must be in disguise. Quite cautious of them."

He displayed an understanding smile, pretending not to recognize Lu Yang and the others, and treated them as ordinary customers. "Of course. Our guild provides all services within our capabilities. Coffin storage, you say? That can be arranged."

Meng Jingzhou was slightly surprised. He hadn't expected the East Sea branch of the guild to be so service-oriented; he had anticipated being politely refused.

He had already prepared to find an inn to store the coffin, though inns might not agree. He was ready to offer more spirit stones if needed.

If all else failed, they would just have to carry the coffin around. He didn't care about public opinion, but Mang Gu was easily embarrassed.

"How many days do the four of you plan to store it?"

"We plan for three days, but it's not set in stone; we might extend it depending on the situation with the Dragon Clan. How many spirit stones will it cost?" Meng Jingzhou said casually, unsure how long the dragon's blood mission would take.

Deacon Liu understood. "So, it seems you also don't know when this commotion will pass," he thought.

Hearing Meng Jingzhou ask about the price, Deacon Liu's heart leaped. Collecting spirit stones meant recording them in the ledger. The Four Thieves of Juxuan Island weren't ignorant of the rules. Was this their way of hinting that they were all in this together, and he shouldn't dream of secretly moving the treasure?

"Three hundred spirit stones."

Meng Jingzhou casually took out three mid-grade spirit stones.

"Hey, please handle the coffin gently. It doesn't contain a corpse," Lu Yang reminded Deacon Liu as he was moving the coffin.

Deacon Liu wasn't surprised. He smiled faintly and handled it gently. "As if I don't know the coffin contains the Dragon Clan's supreme treasure. This thing is worth more than my life," he thought.

After seeing Lu Yang and the others off, someone called out to Deacon Liu again.

"Old Liu, the vice-president said there's a meeting for deacons and above to discuss the spirit of the previous meeting."

"Coming! Su Yu, keep an eye on the front desk."

"Understood, Deacon Liu."

A few minutes later, the Four Thieves of Juxuan Island stealthily entered the guild, carrying a coffin.

"Strange, where's Old Liu? Wasn't he supposed to be waiting for us here?" the Eldest Brother wondered, surprised to see only a young girl at the front desk.

"How may I help you, sirs?" Su Yu asked, performing a polite bow.

"Could this be someone Old Liu arranged?" the Eldest Brother asked, half-believing, half-doubting. "We're here to store a coffin. Is that possible?"

Su Yu was about to refuse, but then she remembered Deacon Liu's instruction about service attitude and meeting customer needs as much as possible. She put on a naturally sweet smile and said, "Of course, that's possible."

"It really is Old Liu's arrangement," the Eldest Brother thought. "Otherwise, the guild wouldn't agree so readily."

Having this young girl deal with them meant Old Liu was being cautious, worried about the Dragon Clan tracing it back to him.

"How many days do the four of you plan to store it?"

"Three days for now; we'll extend it depending on the situation," the Eldest Brother estimated. He figured the Dragon Clan would search for three or four days at most. If they couldn't find it by then, they would surely suspect the treasure had been taken out, and the sea market would become less dangerous.

Of course, if the Dragon Clan was overly suspicious, they could just store it for a few more days; it wouldn't be a problem, and he could afford to wait.

"All right, that will be three hundred spirit stones in total." Su Yu smiled politely. They would collect three hundred spirit stones upfront, and if it exceeded three days, it would be an additional hundred per day—that was the rule.

"Charging money?" the Eldest Brother thought. "What kind of arrangement is this? Charging for something so secret?"

Then the Eldest Brother understood: Deacon Liu was using the young girl to warn them that once the matter was concluded, the promised benefits must not be withheld, not even a bit.

The Eldest Brother took out three hundred spirit stones and handed them to the young girl. "You'll get what's due to you."

"Oh, and remember to handle it gently and quietly. It's something that can't see the light of day, after all." The Eldest Brother reminded Su Yu to be careful, as he felt the young girl's movements were too broad and could easily attract attention.

"Understood."

Despite her delicate appearance, Su Yu was surprisingly strong. She carried the coffin into the warehouse, handling it gently. Remembering what the Four Thieves of Juxuan Island had said, she took out a black cloth and covered the coffin with it.

"If it can't see the light of day, then I'll cover it."

After leaving the guild, the Younger Brother secretly asked, "Big Brother, was the pill too potent? We're only at the Soul Transformation stage now."

He had thought they would only drop one cultivation realm.

The Eldest Brother had no idea that the pills sold on the black market were defective elixirs refined by the Pill Cauldron Peak of the Dao-Seeking Sect—their effects were either poor or exceptionally potent.

"It's all part of the plan. This way, the Dragon Clan definitely won't suspect us."

An hour later, Deacon Liu's meeting ended, and he didn't return to the front desk.

Since the coffin was now stored there, today's task was complete.

"Now, I just have to wait for the commotion to die down. I hope everything goes smoothly," Deacon Liu murmured to himself.
