"Fellow Daoist Luo, are you alright?" Yang Ding exclaimed, startled. He had just confidently stated that Luo Hongxia would win decisively against Lu Yang, so he was shocked to see her ejected.
Her posture was far from graceful; her mouth was full of withered yellow leaves, and her hair was tangled with branches and leaves, as if she had slammed into a tree.
"Pah, it's nothing serious, just a minor bump from a tree," Luo Hongxia said, spitting out the leaves. Her injuries rapidly healed, and upon exiting the treasure box, she reverted to her Integration stage cultivation.
"Hit by a tree?" Qiu Jin'an wondered aloud. Ordinary trees couldn't possibly injure Luo Hongxia. Had Lu Yang used the "Tree Planting Art" to attack with trees?
Qiu Jin'an knew of the Moon Laurel Immortal Palace's tradition of fighting with moon laurel trees and was aware of their astonishing defensive capabilities. However, he had never conceived that someone could accomplish the feat of uprooting a moon laurel tree during a battle.
"That junior, Lu Yang, is quite peculiar; I accidentally fell into his trap," Luo Hongxia said with resentment. If the moon laurel tree hadn't suddenly withered, she wouldn't have lost so quickly.
"That powerful? Or did you just underestimate him and let a junior seize an opportunity?" Yang Ding asked, eyeing Luo Hongxia suspiciously. In her youth, Luo Hongxia was prone to underestimating opponents and had stumbled countless times.
"Go on, try it yourself if you're so brave!" Luo Hongxia retorted, boiling with rage.
"I'll try it then!" Yang Ding declared, disbelieving. Unlike Luo Hongxia, he didn't have a habit of underestimating opponents.
Furthermore, his battle tattoos became more proficient with each use. At the Golden Core stage, his battle tattoo techniques, versatility in responding to opponents, and overall power surpassed even those of sword cultivators!
A beam of light shot from the treasure box, enveloping Yang Ding. Aware of the Binding Light Treasure Box's function, Yang Ding offered no resistance and smoothly entered, his cultivation level lowering to the Golden Core stage.
"Fellow Daoist Yang should be able to win," Emperor Xia affirmed with a nod. Unlike the semi-reclusive Moon Laurel Immortal Palace, the disciples of the Prison Suppressing Sect spent years abroad punishing evil and promoting good, having undergone countless battles both large and small. Their combat experience was thus a cut above Luo Hongxia's.
Furthermore, their unique battle tattoo cultivation method meant that the lower Yang Ding's cultivation level was suppressed, the higher his combat prowess became.
"Indeed," Qiu Jin'an agreed, still highly confident in Yang Ding. No matter how powerful Lu Yang was, he couldn't possibly defeat Yang Ding.
Only Master Jiesha and the Senior Disciple Sister remained silent.
*Whoosh—*
The treasure box trembled, and Yang Ding stumbled out, losing his balance and crashing headfirst onto the ground.
"Damn it, what kind of fighting style is that?!"
Yang Ding cursed angrily, seething with indignation. He had never felt so humiliated in a fight; it was as if his opponent had calculated every move. Each step he took was precisely as predicted, and he quickly found himself caught in the other's rhythm, leading to an inevitable defeat.
"What happened to your hair?" Qiu Jin'an asked, his expression peculiar. Yang Ding had entered with a full head of black hair, but now he was practically bald.
He was asking knowingly; he had been present when Lu Yang used the Arhat Fist against Huang Ming.
"I've never seen such a malicious boxing technique! Not only does it hit you, but it makes your hair fall out!"
Yang Ding touched his shining bald head, fuming with anger.
Coupled with his tattoos, he looked exactly like an escaped gang leader. With such an appearance, no one would believe him innocent if he were accused of any wrongdoing.
"This is the Arhat Fist, where martial arts and magic are unified," the Senior Disciple Sister explained, causing Master Jiesha's eyes to light up.
The Arhat Fist, a unified martial arts and magic technique, one that causes hair loss?
How could such a promising talent not join my Hanging Temple? Instead, that scoundrel Daoist Buyu found him by chance?
"Unified martial arts and magic—no wonder," Yang Ding lamented. Upon reflection, it certainly resembled a unified technique, but the spell's effect was so absurd he hadn't processed it in time.
"Oh, right, Old Qiu," Yang Ding recalled, grinning maliciously at Qiu Jin'an. "Lu Yang was shouting for you to go in and get a beating too."
"That kid Lu Yang said you only have higher cultivation, and if you were at the same level, he'd beat you to a pulp."
"He has a death wish!"
Qiu Jin'an was enraged. Given the precedents set by Luo Hongxia and Yang Ding, even he wasn't confident in defeating Lu Yang, and he had no desire to intervene.
But with Lu Yang saying something like that, how could he possibly not make a move?
Qiu Jin'an was a man who valued his reputation!
A beam of light shot from the treasure box, and Qiu Jin'an entered.
"Why did Sect Master Yang Ding suddenly appear?" Lu Yang pondered. The Immortal Fairy had just finished fighting Luo Hongxia using his body and was now recovering her strength, when Sect Master Yang Ding descended from above, challenging him to a duel.
The Immortal Fairy immediately consumed an Invincible Pill, and following its guidance, she drove Sect Master Yang Ding back relentlessly. Ultimately, still acting on the pill's advice, she relinquished control of the body back to Lu Yang, allowing him to unleash the Arhat Fist, achieving a dual physical and mental assault.
"Speaking of which, how do I get out of here?" Having fought two people back-to-back, it was time to leave, and Lu Yang began searching for an exit.
"Lu Yang, you audacious brat, daring to challenge me!" Qiu Jin'an roared, also descending from the sky, leaving Lu Yang utterly bewildered.
"Come on, come on, let me handle this!" The Immortal Fairy, once again asserting her Sect Master authority, possessed Lu Yang.
*Whoosh—*
The treasure box trembled, and a bruised and swollen Qiu Jin'an stumbled out.
"Old Qiu, are you alright?!" Yang Ding exclaimed, rushing to support Qiu Jin'an.
Qiu Jin'an glared furiously at Yang Ding. Only at the very end of their fight did he realize that Lu Yang hadn't uttered any provocative words at all—it had all been a malicious rumor spread by this old scoundrel!
He pushed Yang Ding away, his cultivation and injuries instantly recovering.
"It's nothing serious. That kid Lu Yang certainly has skill, it's just what he said at the end that I found unbearable."
"What did he say?" Yang Ding asked, his eyes gleaming.
"He said that sects like the Five Elements Sect and Hanging Temple aren't even enough for him to fight alone!" Qiu Jin'an exclaimed, slapping his thigh, his teeth gritted.
Master Jiesha's hand, which had been twirling prayer beads, froze. His eyes shone brightly.
Everyone had been defeated; they absolutely had to reclaim their dignity. The Integration stage cultivators were hot-blooded and inexperienced. But Master Jiesha, a veteran Tribulation stage cultivator reduced to the Golden Core stage, could surely defeat Lu Yang!
Master Jiesha said no more. With steady steps, his aura rising, and a resolute gaze, he stepped into the treasure box.
Soon after, Master Jiesha emerged from the treasure box looking disheveled, albeit with a full head of thick, black hair.
His appearance was better than the previous three, but only marginally.
Master Jiesha cast an unfavorable glance at Qiu Jin'an, having realized during his own fight that Lu Yang had uttered no provocative words whatsoever.
"Cough, cough, now that everyone understands Lu Yang's combat prowess, Fellow Daoist Luo, please release him," Qiu Jin'an said, clearing his throat. With everyone having lost face, a sense of balance had been restored.
Luo Hongxia rolled her eyes. She had wanted to release Lu Yang long ago, but these men kept entering one after another, practically offering themselves up for a beating, and she couldn't stop them.
Silently, she recited an incantation, and the treasure box lid opened, releasing the Immortal Fairy.
"Huh, is that all? Isn't there still an Emperor who hasn't been beaten yet?"
