Chapter 449: Fairy Inspects Asked Dao Sect

Mortals celebrate their birthdays every year with great importance. For cultivators, it's different. They live for hundreds or even thousands of years, and some often go into seclusion. If they celebrated birthdays annually, they would be utterly exasperated.

Cultivators customarily have a minor celebration every decade and a major one every century. This custom applies not only to individual cultivators but also to their sects.

The 120,000th anniversary of the Dao-Seeking Sect's establishment is a truly momentous occasion, deserving of an exceptionally grand celebration. In the Central Continent, few powers have existed for as long as the Dao-Seeking Sect. Among the Five Great Immortal Sects, the Dao-Seeking Sect was the first to be established.

At that time, major powers will undoubtedly come to offer congratulations. The imperial court, the other four Great Immortal Sects, and even supreme-grade sects are a given. Whether first-grade sects will be able to attend is uncertain. One could say that merely being able to attend and offer congratulations to the Dao-Seeking Sect is a form of prestige in itself.

One can only imagine how bustling the Dao-Seeking Sect will be in two months. The thought of the events two months away made Lu Yang's scalp tingle. He was only at the Golden Core stage; why did he have to handle such matters? Wasn't it too soon?

"'What do you mean 'you' have to do it? This Immortal will be the acting sect master!' The Undying Immortal corrected Lu Yang." As a new official, she began with great zeal, and her first directive targeted Lu Yang.

"'Come, let this Immortal take control of your body.'" This was the Sect Master's command, not to be defied, so Lu Yang could only obediently relinquish control of his body.

Occupying Lu Yang's body, the Undying Immortal stretched and beamed with a wide smile. "'Hehe, having a physical body truly feels different from not having one.'"

The Undying Immortal then turned her gaze to Yun Zhi, setting her second directive: "'And you, Yun girl, spread the word throughout the entire Dao-Seeking Sect that this Immortal is the acting sect master.'"

"'Yes,' Yun Zhi replied. Her attitude towards the acting sect master was noticeably more compliant than her usual demeanor towards the actual sect master; she did whatever the Undying Immortal instructed.

Thanks to the Senior Disciple Sister's efforts, the news of Lu Yang once again becoming the acting sect master quickly spread throughout the Dao-Seeking Sect.

"'What?! Lu Yang is the acting sect master again? What did he do this time?'"

"'Did the Sect Master appoint Lu Yang as acting sect master?'"

"'Hasn't the Senior Disciple Sister always been the acting sect master? Why the sudden change to Lu Yang?'"

Upon hearing this news, a conspiracy theorist remained silent for a long moment before mysteriously whispering to others: "'According to my analysis, this change in acting sect master might indicate a power struggle among the higher echelons!'"

The others were startled upon hearing this. Being intelligent individuals, they quickly grasped the implication: "'Are you suggesting the Sect Master believes the Senior Disciple Sister has held power for too long and wants Lu Yang to replace her, thereby inciting a power struggle between the senior and junior disciples?'"

"'No, I mean the Senior Disciple Sister wants to rest and asked the Sect Master to return, but the Sect Master refused and instead specifically designated Lu Yang to take over.'"

"'That analysis seems to hold some truth.'"

Using Lu Yang's body, the Undying Immortal slowly strolled through the sect, a beaming smile on her face that made Lu Yang appear several years younger.

"'Greetings, Sect Master.'"

"'Greetings, Sect Master.'"

Lu Yang's senior brothers and sisters—or rather, from Lu Yang's perspective at the moment, all Dao-Seeking Sect disciples—respectfully greeted him.

"'All well, all well,' the Undying Immortal said, nodding. She then slightly raised a hand, signaling that there was no need for such enthusiastic greetings; she had only been in office for half an hour, with two months of her term still ahead."

She then ambled towards the arena frequently used by disciples. On the platform, two Deity Transformation stage disciples were engaged in a fierce battle; one side unleashed rolling thunder, while the other manipulated shifting space. As they clashed, a dazzling array of spells flickered.

The surrounding disciples watched Lu Yang warily, apprehensive that he might once again use his 'Words Follow Law' ability to fight beyond his current cultivation level. Lu Yang, too, watched himself warily.

The Undying Immortal stood beside the arena, her hands clasped behind her back, silently observing the two combatants with no intention of entering the fray. Since Lu Yang had already formed the Peerless Core with her assistance, there was no longer a need to step onto the stage and fight above his cultivation level to foster an 'unrivaled momentum'. What was the point of stepping onto the stage anyway? It would simply involve the two combatants feigning ignorance of his status as acting sect master and proceeding to give him a thorough beating. This was a highly effective premonition provided by the Peerless Core. The Undying Immortal heeded the Peerless Core's advice, quietly remaining below the arena and suppressing her itching desire to join the fight.

"'Their fighting is rather ordinary,' she commented blandly, her calm tone embodying the demeanor of a great power." The Undying Immortal hadn't come down the mountain for any specific purpose other than to flaunt her new identity.

She then ambled over to the 'One More Time BBQ' restaurant on the commercial street, where the Undying Immortal (her devoted follower) and the Undying Cult's high-ranking members happened to be gathered. All members of the Undying lineage were present, as were all high-ranking officials of the Undying Cult, forming an impressive assembly.

The Undying Cult's high-ranking members were quite excited. It seemed following Lu Yang truly promised a bright future; just days ago, he was a mere junior disciple, and now he was the acting sect master. Masters Liu and Gao wore peculiar expressions, which stirred up distant memories. The last time Lu Yang was the acting sect master, he had tricked them into becoming barbecue chefs right here. Four months had passed in the blink of an eye.

"'Business is good, I presume?'"

"'Thanks to the Elder Boss's blessing, business is excellent.' While others might not sense any difference in Lu Yang, the Undying Immortal (the follower), as the third master of the Undying lineage and possessor of an embryonic Undying Dao Fruit, naturally knew that the Undying Immortal was currently controlling the body.

"'Work hard. This barbecue restaurant is the face of our Undying lineage; you must not tarnish its reputation!' the Undying Immortal admonished."

"'Yes!' Everyone felt greatly encouraged by their leader's affirmation."

"'Hmm, good attitude. The Nine Nether Cult is currently expanding its market, opening stores everywhere. Yun girl has also, as instructed by this Immortal, approached Emperor Xia with a request, and Emperor Xia has pledged strong support for our venture.'"

Since she had become the acting sect master, it was entirely normal for the previous acting sect master to relay the contents of meetings to the current one.

"'Such a good thing exists!' The Undying Cult's high-ranking members were deeply moved. They had assumed the acting sect master position was merely nominal, but it turned out to be a role of genuine power, capable of commanding the Senior Disciple Sister with a single word and even enlisting Emperor Xia's personal assistance."

With the imperial court's backing, the 'One More Time BBQ' restaurant was sure to flourish across the entire continent, becoming the undisputed leader in the barbecue industry.

"'Can any of you draw? You can illustrate this Sect Master's inspection here and hang it at the entrance.'" The Undying Immortal had heard that the Emperor's calligraphy was highly valuable among common folk, and any shop displaying his script would see an immense surge in business. As a dignified Immortal, who was also moonlighting as the acting sect master, surely her combined identities were more esteemed than an emperor's?

"'I will,' the Undying Immortal (follower) volunteered, eager to serve the Elder Boss diligently." This was a rare opportunity bestowed by the Immortal; he had to seize it firmly. As the third master, he knew better than anyone just how powerful the Elder Boss truly was.

Soon, the Undying Immortal (follower) completed the drawing. The painting depicted Lu Yang standing prominently in the center, surrounded by the Undying Immortal (follower) and the Undying Cult's high-ranking members, all appearing to look to Lu Yang as their undisputed leader. This painting was, of course, hung by the entrance, catching the eye of anyone who passed by. Lu Yang stroked his chin, feeling that there was something odd about the painting's content, though he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.

The Immortal still wanted to wander around, perhaps visiting all the peaks from the Grand Elder's to the Eighth Elder's, to make her name renowned throughout the Dao-Seeking Sect. However, just as this plan began, the Senior Disciple Sister suddenly appeared beside her.

"'Sect Master, it's time for you to attend to sect affairs.'"
