After two years of writing, the book is finally complete. For me, it's a project that took a very long time and resulted in a very high word count.
This was my first attempt at writing a cultivation novel with a leveling system, and I found the leveling process quite cumbersome. It's much easier to write an "invincible" story where characters don't need to level up.
I need to reflect on both the update frequency and the update timing for this book.
Regarding update frequency, there's truly nothing more I can do. My typing speed is limited, and my mind isn't always quick enough to devise numerous plotlines. I attempted to release extra chapters a few times, and it left me utterly drained and exhausted; I'd collapse into sleep immediately after writing. My capacity is limited, and I acknowledge that.
I've consistently tried to update as early as possible. However, due to real-life obligations, I work during the day and can only write in the evenings. Consequently, updates could only happen at night.
I also tried updating immediately after work. This worked well, allowing me to complete updates mostly before midnight. This continued until around May or June of last year.
During that period, I was assigned to prison inspections. Each day, I'd wake up at 8 AM to go to the prison. I would walk from morning until evening, only returning to my dormitory around 7 PM to rest. I was so exhausted and drowsy that I could barely keep my eyes open, so I had no choice but to sleep for an hour or two. Then I'd splash cold water on my face to wake myself up, and only then could I continue writing.
By the time I started writing, it would already be between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM. I'd write until 1:00 AM or 2:00 AM, then collapse into sleep, only to wake up at 8:00 AM to return to the prison.
This routine continued for approximately a month. After returning to my regular workplace, it became very difficult to revert to my previous schedule, which significantly impacted my update times.
I rarely discuss personal matters. In truth, my family isn't keen on me writing, and this often leads to arguments with them, which in turn affects my mood. Fearing I might transfer negative emotions into the book, I would take a day off on such occasions.
Of course, not every absence was due to arguments. Sometimes, it was simply because I needed a break; my mind, under constant strain, genuinely couldn't cope.
The preparation for this book was actually quite rushed. I'm easily swayed, and after finishing 'Dachengqi,' readers kept urging me to write another book, so I began writing this one.
When I first started, there were only two core concepts for this book: a very handsome immortal fairy who could be resurrected simply by calling out her name, and the inherent contradiction between transcendence and omniscience. All subsequent settings and details were developed and refined gradually.
Regarding the dynamic between the righteous and demonic factions, initially, I intended them to be of comparable strength. This was because it would open up many narrative possibilities; Lu Yang could then encounter demonic conspiracies, witness human tragedies, and work to unravel plots.
However, upon reflection, I realized that if the demonic path were so rampant, it might make the righteous path seem ineffective. Therefore, I decided to reduce the power of the demonic path and enhance that of the righteous one.
Yun Zhi and Huang Doudou are my two favorite characters. One is outwardly cool but warm-hearted, and the other is innocent and romantic. My mood always brightens considerably whenever I write about them.
Now that this book is complete, I plan to lose some weight. The pressure of balancing work and writing has been immense, and prolonged sitting has taken a toll on my body. Ultimately, health is paramount.
Since I started writing this book, I've had very little free time to read. I'll also take the opportunity to catch up on some books.
