Chapter 124: The Silent Daoist Escapes

Chapter 130: Daoist Buyu Escapes

Luohongxia left in a great hurry.

Luohongxia had originally planned to take advantage of the meeting to demand an explanation from Wen Dao Sect, or at the very least, to secure a promise that Wen Dao Sect would not approach Lanting. Now, it seemed, forget about a promise; if she had left even a moment later, her young apprentice would have been trapped there.

Inside a cloud of mist, Lanting complained, "Master, I told you I was fine! Why did you insist on dragging me to Wen Dao Sect? What will Lu Yang think of me if he finds out?"

"You came back and immediately focused on developing an automatic skewer grilling array, trying to transform into someone else by practicing 'pictographic boxing.' And you still say you're fine?" Luohongxia retorted. "I've told you many times before to stay away from people from Wen Dao Sect. This comes from experience and lessons learned!"

"I remember once when I was down the mountain for training, I met a disciple from Wen Dao Sect. We worked together to exorcise a ghost, and after reaching our destination, we stayed in an inn for a few days. That ghost was incredibly bold; it dared to hide under the Wen Dao Sect disciple's bed for three whole days." Luohongxia recounted. "Eventually, that person discovered the problem, pulled the ghost out from under the bed, and demanded that the ghost split the three days' worth of room rent."

"Is that something a normal person would even think of?"

"Who was that?" Lanting asked.

"The sect master of Wen Dao Sect, Daoist Buyu."

Luohongxia scoffed and continued, "Another time, we encountered a dismemberment case. More than a dozen children had died tragically, their bodies mutilated, with severed limbs scattered across the ground. Only one little girl with a blank expression survived. The two of us stayed by her side to protect her safety."

"A while later, the yamen officials arrived. They said that after piecing the bodies together, they found a missing part from each one, and these missing parts combined perfectly to form a little girl." Luohongxia continued, "At that moment, I felt a chill run straight to my head. Then, the little girl showed a creepy smile and laughter, which was particularly unsettling. Daoist Buyu simply tapped her head and said, 'What are you laughing at? Can't you see we're discussing something important?'"

"The little girl was completely dumbfounded."

Lanting: "..."

Out of concern for his master, Lu Yang returned to the pine forest on Tianmen Peak, where he saw Daoist Buyu tied up in a rather peculiar way.

"Does our Wen Dao Sect practice performance art?" Lu Yang wondered.

Daoist Buyu twisted vigorously, with wide movements, making muffled sounds as if calling for help.

Lu Yang removed the yellow paper from his forehead. Daoist Buyu regained his magic power, untied the ropes, spat out the sock, and successfully broke free.

Daoist Buyu, with tears in his eyes, exclaimed, "My good brother, from now on, let's address each other by our own terms! You call me Master, and I'll call you Master!"

Lu Yang thought it might be better to tie his master back up.

Daoist Buyu walked out of the cave dwelling, spread his arms, faced the sun, and embraced nature, exclaiming, "Ten years! I'm finally out!" Then he thought for a moment, deciding the atmosphere wasn't dramatic enough, so he conjured clouds and rain, causing a small area above his head to pour.

The rain poured down, quickly drenching Daoist Buyu. He spread his arms again, embracing freedom, "Aaaah! Ten years! I'm finally out!"

Perfect.

Having achieved the desired effect, Daoist Buyu dispersed the rain clouds and turned to Lu Yang, saying, "I'm planning to go down the mountain to perform storytelling. Would you like to come with me?"

Daoist Buyu hadn't forgotten his mission.

Lu Yang was tempted but still shook his head, "No, my identity is sensitive. It would be terrible if I were recognized by the Immortal Cult."

Daoist Buyu burst out laughing, "What's so difficult about that?"

Daoist Buyu brushed his hand across Lu Yang's face. Lu Yang's features subtly changed, becoming completely different from before. "It's just about being recognized by enemies while doing bad deeds, I get it," Daoist Buyu explained. "I have a lot of experience in this area. Don't worry, no one in the Integration stage can see through my disguise!"

Lu Yang wasn't particularly keen on knowing the source of Daoist Buyu's experience, but with this, he could indeed go out with peace of mind.

"Can I also bring a friend?" Lu Yang asked.

"Of course," Daoist Buyu replied.

Lu Yang called upon Meng Jingzhou, who was currently practicing his martial arts with grunts and shouts to exercise.

"Going out to play?" Meng Jingzhou asked.

"Is it safe?"

"With a master leading the way, it's guaranteed to be safe."

"Let's go."

After a brief exchange, Meng Jingzhou was ready to go out with Lu Yang, not even asking where they were going or what they would do. With Lu Yang, could there ever be a lack of fun?

"Who is this person?" Meng Jingzhou quietly asked, as he didn't recognize Daoist Buyu.

"My master, Daoist Buyu," Lu Yang proudly introduced.

Daoist Buyu recognized Meng Jingzhou and kindly stroked his white beard, "Ah, young man from the Meng family. Your old man mentioned you. I even attended your full moon banquet and had some wine."

"You know my grandfather?" Meng Jingzhou was a little surprised; he had never heard his grandfather mention this.

Daoist Buyu was amused by the question. "Your grandfather and I have known each other for over a thousand years."

After Daoist Buyu changed Meng Jingzhou's appearance using the same method, Meng Jingzhou asked, "How are we getting there? I have a carriage."

Lu Yang waved his hand, "No need. I've just learned a new flying sword technique; I can fly on a sword."

"But a single sword can only carry one person, right? What about the two of us?" Meng Jingzhou raised an eyebrow.

Lu Yang proudly took out a strangely shaped flying vehicle from his identity jade token, "You can think of this as a sword sheath, just a bit bigger. When I activate the flying sword technique, the flying vehicle can ascend into the sky and carry up to five people!"

Meng Jingzhou walked around the flying vehicle twice, tapped its shell, and hearing a rather substantial echo, his eyes lit up, "This is good stuff! Did you invent it?"

"Naturally."

Daoist Buyu also nodded repeatedly. His young apprentice truly had extraordinary attainments in swordsmanship and would surely not be inferior to him in the future!

Lu Yang, with an excited heart, piloted the flying vehicle. Meng Jingzhou sat in the co-pilot's seat, and Daoist Buyu in the back. All three fastened their seatbelts, feeling a sense of novelty.

"Take off!"

The Azure Edge Sword emitted a sword cry, and the flying vehicle soared into the sky, reaching the clouds.

"Master, which way should we go?" Lu Yang asked.

Daoist Buyu pointed forward, "To the south! The south is prosperous and has many major thoroughfares, perfect for me to tell stories!"

As the flying vehicle headed south, they occasionally encountered flying boats, whose passengers were very surprised by the sight of the flying vehicle.

Daoist Buyu tapped the back seat. An invisible, spindle-shaped shield expanded, reducing air resistance. At the same time, he also performed a flying sword technique to assist the flying vehicle.

Lu Yang noticed his master's assistance, and his confidence doubled. The flying vehicle's speed increased by another notch.

With Master overseeing things, it was definitely very safe!

When Yun Zhi checked on her master, the cave dwelling was already empty, with only a golden rope, some yellow talismans, and someone's sock left behind.

Returning to her own cave dwelling, she found a small note left by Lu Yang at the entrance:

"Master and I are traveling for a while. Don't worry about me."

Yun Zhi became even more worried.

Her master... couldn't tell directions.

Above a small town somewhere in the west, the flying vehicle malfunctioned and plummeted straight down.
