Chapter 932: That Is My Grandfather

At first, it was just a brilliant flash of light, tearing through the dark universe, followed by a great explosion, as if the cosmos had reached its end, and doomsday had arrived.

The surging energy and blazing light instantly shocked the entire netherworld universe!

At the edge of the universe, chaos could be seen shattering, as if the heavens were being re-forged and the earth re-created, ushering in a new era.

Everyone felt a chill; what was happening? Even without live broadcasts, some powerful individuals sensed the terrifying anomaly at the universe's edge.

The great universe was pierced through, shattered!

When a primal artifact explodes, what immense power is unleashed? Especially this green-skinned gourd, originally born in a sea of thunder within chaos and nourished by supreme rules, it was capable of shaking the world even before maturing.

When Chu Feng obtained it, it was covered in cracks, scarred by the grinding wheel at the edge of another domain; otherwise, external forces would have struggled to harm it.

It was precisely because of these cracks that it was on the verge of disintegration, allowing it to be detonated today. Otherwise, even a Reflection-level master would be unable to destroy an immature primal gourd.

This was like an apocalyptic explosion; as the green gourd disintegrated, the interwoven thunder rules it contained were more terrifying than a great tribulation faced by Reflection-level beings.

“Ah…” In the blazing light, even demigods screamed, roared, and struggled.

Zhan Kong’s face was pale, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He was burning himself, reconsolidating energy, and staring at the horrifying sea of light, ready to charge forward at any moment.

At this moment, what was most terrifying was not the disintegration of the green gourd, but the unrestricted outpouring of strange grey matter, rising like a grey mushroom cloud and engulfing the area!

Immediately, crimson light surged through the area—the blood of demigods, the essence of Reflection-level cultivators perishing.

At the same time, vibrant colorful light accompanied it, as divine souls disintegrated and burned, and waves of mournful wails echoed.

There were quite a few people on the great ship; initially, there were over twenty Reflection-level beings. After some were killed, more than a dozen remained, and along with other powerful individuals, they cried out in anguish.

Throughout the netherworld universe, the world watched, dumbfounded. Could the situation really be reversed at the very last moment?

“Hahaha…” Lord Lei laughed, his small frame covered in cracks, yet he felt immensely invigorated.

Although he escaped the terrifying explosion, the intense aftershocks nearly shattered his body, and he lost both of his large hammers.

Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun was also in dire straits; his gleaming long blade was broken, his hair disheveled, and blood flowed from deep wounds all over his body.

As for the Other Shore Flower, it was forced back to its original form, withered and listless, yet it was also laughing, venting its pent-up frustration with great satisfaction.

At the epicenter, six or seven Reflection-level cultivators disintegrated and perished utterly. One demigod revived after dying, but even with a death-substituting talisman, it was useless. He was annihilated multiple times and ultimately destroyed, body and soul.

The death-substituting talisman was an inert object, allowing him to revive on the spot, but without time to escape. The central area was the most perilous, with primal energy raging, strange matter manifesting, and piercing wails echoing!

A demigod was slaughtered!

“Ah…” Even at the edges of the great ship, some Reflection-level beings, not caught in the direct vortex, had their bodies explode. Their remnants, carrying soul light, managed to escape, but ultimately met a miserable end.

The grey matter grinned ferociously, letting out a real laugh, transforming into a malevolent spirit that pounced and engulfed him.

“No, save me…” Some shrieked in terror. At this moment, they preferred immediate death over enduring such torment. Their soul light was being devoured, consumed by the grey matter, condemning them to eternal damnation!

The great ship from the Yang realm disintegrated in a massive explosion. In the end, everyone was torn apart; some were reassembling, while others perished instantly.

“Someone actually escaped,” Zhan Kong murmured to himself, seeing a demigod in utterly wretched condition, killed multiple times, finally dragging out half a shattered body.

Undoubtedly, he was closer to the epicenter, and even his death-substituting talismans were ultimately useless, having been exhausted as he fled desperately.

However, his condition was dire. Entangled by the grey matter, his face was ashen, and his body withered. He roared and struggled.

“Abomination, source of all evil! How dare you use such a thing? The Celestial Venerables will jointly punish you, the world will attack, this entire universe will be buried!” he fumed desperately.

He believed he wouldn't live for more than two years. Even as a demigod, protected by death-substituting talismans and only slightly tainted rather than engulfed, he knew there was no solution!

It was too late to return and seek treatment from a Celestial Venerable now!

“Very well then, before I die, I’ll first slaughter billions of beings in your universe! All your lineages, I will completely eradicate them!”

This was the madness of a dying man. He wanted to drag countless others down with him, unwilling to accept his fate. To be entangled by the grey matter was a death sentence, an inescapable doom.

He transformed into a beam of light, rushing out, intent on killing his way into the depths of the netherworld universe.

“Ah, ah…” Behind him, two more individuals, both Reflection-level and still alive, burst forth from the edges of the great ship. They, too, intended to go mad and slaughter life on planets everywhere.

“All of you, die!” Zhan Kong moved, not with fear, but with a relieved smile. He had finally waited for this moment; his last moments of life would not be wasted, but would instead be used to their fullest.

His physical body disintegrated, transforming into a source of energy. Divine flames surged skyward, and his soul light also dissolved, feeding into it, becoming endless brilliant flames, burning together with the heavens!

Zhan Kong, the master of the Xilin Legion Commander, embraced a death wish. Though he bore no guilt, he sought atonement and no longer wished to live. His heart had died many years ago, and now, he found liberation!

Within the flames, his face appeared, still youthful. There, too, were old friends from ancient times, and the women he loved—all the thoughts and desires of his heart. It was his ideal realm. He wished to return to the past, to once again stand in antiquity and change the tragedies of yesteryear.

“You madman!” The demigod exclaimed in shock and rage. Behind him, the strange matter surged like waves. This person actually chose to block him in such a way, engaging in mutual destruction, cutting off his path.

Terrified, his face turned deathly pale as he roared, “Get out of the way! Do you know what you’re doing? If you’re entangled by this grey matter, there will be no afterlife, no rebirth for all eternity! You’ll die a horrifying death!”

“I seek no next life, nor ask about future existences. What is there to fear, arrogant demigod of the Yang realm? I’ll send you on your way!”

Within the brilliant flames, Zhan Kong calmly looked at him. At the very edge of death, he was composed, relieved, liberated, utterly serene and calm.

“Everyone I loved is in antiquity: my friends, my confidantes, my kin. I’m coming. I’m sorry for what happened back then; I went on alone, and when I looked back, there was nothing left, everything was gone. But now, I’m coming!”

A smile appeared on Zhan Kong’s handsome face. For so many years, he had been sickly, his heart as desolate as death. He shouted loudly one last time, ending his life amidst the flames, with a smile.

“Boom!” He collided with the demigod. This was the strongest attack of a Reflection-level cultivator in his life, without reservation. His physical body and soul light burned together, searing through the universe.

“Ah…” The demigod shrieked miserably. He was already a shattered remnant, severely wounded, covered in cracks and bloodstains. How could he possibly withstand this now?

He disintegrated, turning into a rain of blood and fragmented soul light. As for the two Reflection-level beings who had charged with him, they died instantly, their forms and spirits utterly annihilated.

“No!” The demigod roared, forcefully trying to gather his soul light, but it was futile. He was ensnared and engulfed by the pursuing grey matter, then let out one last despairing shriek, ending his life.

Zhan Kong perished. In that final collision, he transformed into light, burning completely until he was utterly consumed, returning to eternal darkness!

A distant planet, the Yellow Ox cried, crystalline tears streaming from its eyes. It sobbed, “He was my guide, my grandfather. We weren’t blood-related, but he was more than a parent to me…”

The Yellow Ox wept bitterly, overcome with profound grief.

The Big Black Ox and others also felt heavy-hearted, watching in silence.

In another star system, Chu Feng felt a pang in his heart. This aging handsome man was seeking his own liberation; perhaps only this way could Zhan Kong find peace and let go of everything.

The great ship’s explosion was still ongoing. Almost simultaneously, a beam of light shot out from another direction, fleeing into the chaos, accompanied by a squealing cry: “Squeak! Squeak!”

The Yellow Divine Master was forced back to its original form and lost half its body, yet it miraculously managed to escape.

People were astonished. Did it possess such great power? They then speculated that perhaps a terrifying divine talisman was protecting its escape.

At the same time, the light emitted by the Yellow Divine Master also carried out the Old Heavenly Hound and the Black Crow from the great explosion. The Old Heavenly Hound was in a terrible state, only its upper torso remaining, its death-substituting talismans long since useless.

The Black Crow, too, had exhausted its last chance at survival, covered in blood. It fell with the Old Heavenly Hound at the edge of chaos, unable to completely disappear with the Yellow Divine Master’s light beam.

These two frantically scrambled to their feet, like homeless dogs or fish slipped through a net, and began to flee desperately.

“Old dog, where do you think you’re going? Leave your head behind!” the Other Shore Flower and Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun roared. They had been watching the center of the explosion, and when they saw the old weasel flee, they were enraged. They pursued, intercepting the bird and the dog.

“Roar!” the Old Heavenly Hound roared, though fear gnawed at its heart. It fought desperately, crying out, “Your netherworld is about to be destroyed! Repeatedly using grey matter is courting death! The Celestial Venerables will jointly punish you; you’ve committed a grave taboo!”

Clearly, it was putting on a brave front.

“To hell with your Celestial Venerable! Our whole family has a vendetta against the Celestial Venerable behind you. I’ll kill him sooner or later!” the Other Shore Flower shouted.

Numerous blue vines shot out simultaneously, piercing the Old Heavenly Hound, causing it to shriek miserably. By this point, the Old Heavenly Hound was far from its peak.

Moreover, with no death-substituting talismans left, the small portion of its body that escaped trembled with inner terror. Its innate aura was weakened, and its strength had long plummeted, leading to its body being directly torn apart.

Its dog head was severed by the vines, falling straight down, then pierced through the brow, its soul light disintegrating as it met an untimely demise.

The Old Heavenly Hound let out one last faint yelp, bringing its life to an end. It was too unwilling, but there was nothing it could do to change it.

“Hahaha… Your Grandfather Other Shore has finally killed a demigod! Dying is worth it now!” the Other Shore Flower burst into laughter.

On the other side, Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun was more direct, transforming into a blade and cleaving the Old Crow. He roared, calling out Kui Niu’s name.

Not long ago, Kui Niu had self-destructed when facing the Old Crow, tragically perishing in this very spot.

“Caw!” The Old Crow shrieked in terror and rage, but was powerless to break free. It was hacked to death on the spot, utterly annihilated.

However, both the Other Shore Flower and Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun were at their weakest, utterly exhausted. Fighting multiple demigods, all protected by death-substituting talismans that made them seemingly unkillable, had taken a terrifying toll on them.

Not far away, Lord Lei roared, unleashing boundless thunder.

The great ship disintegrated, and after the explosion, things finally began to calm. However, the last three demigods, not yet dead, burst forth with boundless rage and resentment, charging towards Lord Lei.

These three had not been at the absolute epicenter. Though they had died more than once, they had finally endured, emerging covered in blood, roaring as they charged, intent on massacring them.

“Kill!” There was nothing left to say. The Other Shore Flower and Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun, dragging their weary bodies, despite being covered in wounds and on the verge of disintegration, unhesitatingly dove forward, pouncing to rescue Lord Lei.

After a struggle, the Other Shore Flower was torn apart, blue essence splattering.

Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun roared furiously, transforming into a blade that struck his opponent, splitting them in two. However, the blade he had become also shattered, and his shattered body reappeared.

Yet, the two demigods revived with difficulty, still not dead. Lord Lei faced a similar predicament on his side.

“Alright, your death-substituting talismans are useless! Although we are at the end of our rope and have lost our combat power, I am certain I can drag you down to death with me!”

The Other Shore Flower shrieked, utterly fearless. At this moment, its torn body did not reassemble; instead, it ignited, roaring with complete ferocity, transforming into blazing light that surged upwards, sweeping forward.

It engulfed one of them. That demigod cried out in terror, letting out a piercing wail: “Let me go! I’ll retreat! I admit defeat! If we both perish like this, we will be eternally silent, never to be seen in the human world again!”

“Go to hell!” the Other Shore Flower retorted.

It completely exploded, dragging the demigod along with it. Their soul lights burned through the heavens, then dimmed, returning to utter silence.

“This…” The remaining two demigods were horrified.

People across the netherworld universe gasped in shock. Was this the end the Other Shore Flower chose? A slight pang of sorrow went through their hearts.

“Heh!” In an instant, a small blue light, no bigger than a fist, appeared in the darkness. The Other Shore Flower’s true spirit reappeared, saying, “I sent you on your way, but I haven’t lived enough yet! Of course, this life is over, but this time I’m going to reincarnate into the Yang realm and fight you till the bitter end, endlessly!”

In a flash, it vanished, soaring towards the other end of the universe.

“Where do you think you’re going?!” a demigod tried to intercept, but Lord Lei and Heavenly Blade both intervened to stop him!

“Trying to stop me? Dream on! This is just a part of my true spirit. I left a bit more at the Gate of Purgatory; I’ll reincarnate no matter what. This battle was just a farewell. Why do you think your Grandfather Other Shore lingered on that planet in Purgatory for so long? I was preparing for reincarnation! We’ll meet in the Yang realm. When I rise again one day, I will surely slay the Celestial Venerable!”

The Other Shore Flower was remarkably decisive, embarking on its journey with bold resolve.

Finally, it let out another great shout, saying, “Kid, I told you back then that I casually made a move against you. I’ve fought like this, proving myself to you. One day, if you enter the Yang realm and discover a strange Other Shore Flower, come to save me—you’ll surely recognize me!”

Deep in the universe, Chu Feng’s heart trembled. He knew the Other Shore Flower was speaking to him.

In the final decisive battle, Heavenly Blade Wu Xingkun transformed his body into a blade, only for it to shatter into several pieces. Yet he continued to fight, ultimately self-destructing.

He severely wounded both demigods, bringing them close to death.

His body became a blade, the Heavenly Blade shattered, and blood stained the starry sky. He perished then and there.

Lord Lei roared, his small body glowing, burning fiercely, as if to incinerate all heavens. He suddenly stood tall, appearing to tear the universe apart.

At this moment, everyone throughout the netherworld saw it. His figure was reflected across the entire star sea, like a raging lion in battle!

He blasted one demigod apart, his fist like a rainbow, piercing through the demigod’s skull, killing him in the starry sky.

“Do you see that? That’s my grandpa!” Deep in the starry sky, on an ordinary life-bearing planet, a little boy looked up, watching the figure reflected in the cosmos, shouting with excitement and pride.

Reflected throughout the heavens, Lord Lei truly was mirrored across the universe at this moment, visible everywhere!

The little boy did not know his grandfather’s condition, nor that the old man was dying.

“Look how amazing my grandpa is! He’s fighting bad guys!” he exclaimed proudly and admiringly.

“Yes, that’s Grandpa, fighting bad guys!” the little boy’s older sister, the girl in white, said tearfully. She knew this was likely the last time they would ever see their grandfather.

Beside them, the middle-aged hunter couple had red eyes, silently shedding tears.

With a final, incomparably fierce strike, Lord Lei blasted the last demigod apart. He, too, then fell, transforming into a mist of blood, into light, into energy, and thus dissipated.

“That’s my grandpa!” the little boy’s tender voice echoed.
