"Hmm?" The little Black Dog's eyes immediately lit up, glowing blue with intense greed, when it saw the thumbnail-sized green gourd in Chu Feng's hand. "What a good thing, what a treasure! To think it's a gem formed on a primeval gourd vine. This item is destined for me!"
Sitting on its silver war chariot, it burst into hearty laughter, its canine mouth wide and eyes half-closed, feeling utterly delighted.
Chu Feng also smiled, but his smile was cold. Death was imminent, yet this pup remained so greedy, like a tyrannical dog guarding its food; it was truly repulsive.
"It's quite surprising that a rat from the Netherworld could obtain a primeval gourd grown in chaos," the little Black Dog declared haughtily. "But someone of your low caliber certainly didn't pick it yourself. Hand it over. Offer me this generous gift, and I might consider making you the leader of my servants."
The little Black Dog brazenly demanded it, as if it were its rightful possession.
Suddenly, however, its expression changed. With the gourd's stopper pulled out, a "great terror" was unleashed. Even a primeval treasure, which could typically obscure heavenly secrets, could no longer conceal it.
"Woof!"
The little Black Dog was incredibly acute; it immediately shot into the air, kicking aside its war chariot, ready to flee!
Unfortunately, Chu Feng slammed the bottom of the gourd forcefully, shaking out a large plume of gray mist—far more than the small wisp released in the foreign land previously.
After the strange substance appeared, it rapidly and violently condensed into a beast. Like a living creature, it had an expression on its face and turned back to smile at Chu Feng—a truly ferocious smile. It even made a throat-slitting gesture at him.
Chu Feng gasped, "What the hell is this thing? Has it truly gained sentience? Why does it feel so evil, filling me with agitation and unease?"
The void itself trembled. The beast formed from the gray substance let out a roar and, moving at the speed of light, instantly charged, pouncing on the little Black Dog and pinning it down.
"No! Woof! Awoooo!"
The little Black Dog cried out, roaring and fighting back with all its might, its entire body radiating runic light.
"What in the world is this thing?!" it roared, "Heavenly Dog Swallows the Moon!" It unleashed a life-bound divine art, frantically tearing and biting at the strange gray substance.
The two beasts battled fiercely, but the little Black Dog was horrified. It bit the opponent's neck, a move that should have been fatal, yet it instantly began to wither itself. It was actively devouring the opponent's gray blood—truly a death wish.
Conversely, when the gray beast bit it, it was equally fatal, injecting a large amount of strange substance that eroded its flesh and soul.
"No!" The little Black Dog shrieked, instantly overcome with terror. It felt itself withering away. Not just it, but even a god would collapse if such a massive amount of gray mist substance simultaneously surged and entangled with them.
"Calamity! World-destroying! Ominous substance..." it howled, then whimpered with heart-wrenching barks. It was from the Heavenly Dog clan and had heard of such terrifying things; unless a mighty being personally intervened, even a God-King contaminated by it would struggle to escape death. It cried out in utter misery.
"Chu Feng, quickly take it back! Spare me!" it shrieked so pitifully, trembling. Its earlier arrogance and recent domineering demeanor completely vanished.
In that very instant, its body shriveled, its vital blood essence completely lost, and its soul light dimmed, nearly decaying.
In mere moments, it seemed to have aged ten thousand years. It became skin and bones, its once lustrous black fur dull and lifeless, and its eyes empty.
"Run!"
The other five saints were utterly terrified and all fled in panic.
It was already too late. The gray beast split into five streams of energy, transforming into five streaks of light that pursued them, burrowing into their bodies. The five saints screamed, collapsing to the ground and writhing endlessly.
So overbearing? Chu Feng felt a chill. He still hadn't unleashed all of the gray substance, only a small portion, yet the effect was this astonishing.
It truly lived up to its reputation as the terrifying gray mist that had tormented hundreds of gods to death. This was its collective form, now revealing its ferocious side, sending shivers down Chu Feng's spine.
"Chu Feng, show mercy where it's due! Spare me!" the little Black Dog howled.
"Recite the strongest breathing technique you've cultivated," Chu Feng said expressionlessly.
"Alright!" The little Black Dog was very cooperative and immediately recited it. As a result, Chu Feng's face darkened slightly; this was the Heavenly Dog clan's breathing technique, and it required accompanying barks. How was he supposed to practice that? He could only give it to the Mastiff King.
"Do you have a Heavenly Venerable-level breathing technique?" Chu Feng asked, his face grim.
"No, the Heavenly Dog breathing technique is most suitable for me..." At this point, a fierce glint suddenly appeared in its eyes. The collar on its neck hummed and glowed, then flew out, transforming into a streak of silver light that slammed towards Chu Feng.
Chu Feng activated the Heavenly Dao Umbrella, repelling it directly. Unexpectedly, the silver collar was undamaged; it emitted a silver glow as it was sent flying high into the sky.
"How is that possible? This is a treasure refined from a Heavenly Venerable's Eight Trigrams Furnace, yet it wasn't shattered! Your umbrella... it looks a bit familiar..."
The little Black Dog was shocked. At the same time, it grew increasingly weaker, already skin and bones. All its essence, energy, and spirit were utterly drained, and it began to emit a putrid smell.
Meanwhile, the five saints nearby were rolling and wailing, utterly wretched. Their soul light disintegrated, and their physical bodies collapsed. They experienced various horrific sensations, perceiving all the enemies they had encountered in life coming to kill them, tearing at their flesh and souls.
Ultimately, the five saints died a horrific death, perishing even before the little Black Dog, leaving behind only small remnants of their bodies.
Next, the little Black Dog also howled ceaselessly. Its fur peeled off inch by inch, its bones fractured one by one, making it appear incredibly aged and frail. A foul, rotten smell emanated from it.
Its soul light collapsed, and it too died a miserable death there.
Even near the Dead City, their soul essence completely dissolved, ensuring they could not reincarnate. They were so utterly dead that nothing remained but their decaying corpses.
"This is truly horrific!" Chu Feng was certain that in that brief moment, these individuals had endured the greatest pain of their lives. Their eyes were filled with despair, as if they wished Chu Feng would just step forward and kill them, believing that would be their release.
"Collect!"
Chu Feng used the primeval gourd to try and collect the gray mist from the remnants of the bodies. Most of it returned, but a small amount still lingered within the decaying corpses.
Chu Feng's heart pounded as he recalled the gray substance transforming into a beast, its ferocious smile, and the throat-slitting gesture it had made. Was it destined to come for him eventually as well?
This thing seemed to possess sentience; it wasn't just an inanimate object.
Chu Feng put away the silver collar and stood there for a long time. Finally, he threw the decaying corpses into the Dead City and watched closely.
In the end, he heard wailing sounds, like those of vengeful spirits. It was the residual gray substance being crushed by a millstone, which was emitting golden light!
His scalp tingled. Could such a small amount of gray substance create such a commotion?
Indeed, no soul light remained in those corpses; only the gray substance was annihilated by the crushing.
Chu Feng gasped!
He lingered there for a long time, placing Qin Luoyin into his spatial bracelet, then putting the bracelet into the stone box. He tried again, hoping to reach the end of the reincarnation path.
Unfortunately, he still failed. An inexplicable power swept from the Luminous Dead City, attempting to draw Qin Luoyin's corpse away. He couldn't tell if the stone box only protected Chu Feng, or if it only protected living beings, thus failing to shield Qin Luoyin.
Chu Feng hastily retreated, taking Qin Luoyin far away from that place.
He sighed softly. If there were no other options, he would have to send Qin Luoyin to reincarnate. He would follow her into the Reincarnation Cave, personally witnessing her journey to rebirth.
But for now, he wouldn't give up. He would keep her by his side and continue to seek a way to revive her.
Finally, Chu Feng left Purgatory and returned to Mount Kunlun.
Meanwhile, deep within the universe, four powerful experts and the Great Heavenly Dog were issuing orders from atop a golden-yellow gourd.
"Disciples of other Heavenly Venerables in the Yang World have found some breathing techniques from lost inheritances in this universe," one of them announced. "Although they are incomplete, they are quite substantial and hold astonishing reference value. We must act quickly too. The Great Dream Breathing Technique was originally very powerful, but it was stolen by a rat; we must kill him and reclaim it. Additionally, there are the Nine Luminaries Breathing Technique, the Undying Breathing Technique, and others we can search for!"
"Hmm, let's deploy everyone immediately," another agreed. "Follow this list, sweep across the Netherworld Universe, and find what we need!"
Instantly, figures flickered around them—all powerful experts they had subdued. They were ordered to sweep through designated star regions in search of the required items.
"I'm back, and my Corpse Clan has been attacked! What a disgrace! I'll slaughter all who dared to profane my clan. Let me go to the Milky Way!"
"Hmm, my Celestial God Clan has suffered another calamity! How shameful!"
"What?! My Xilin Clan was almost wiped out?!"
Several figures roared in anger. Upon their release, they immediately used their light-brains to connect with their respective clans. After learning the situation, each of their faces became terrifyingly grim.
They belonged to the Netherworld Universe and had ventured into the Chaotic Universe to contend for opportunities, only for many of them to be subdued.
"Remember, obey orders," the man with a vertical eye on his forehead, standing on the yellow gourd, warned chillingly. "No one is to act recklessly. Go only to the star region you've been assigned!"
"Yes!" The roaring figures lowered their heads, but a cold glint remained in their eyes.
Concurrently, several other factions from the Yang World were also issuing orders and competing. All of them dispatched their subdued experts and their own retainers.
This was like a terrifying super-cosmic hurricane, poised to sweep across the entire Netherworld!
