Chapter 820: Son, I Can't Kill You

The red magma glowed, radiating intense heat that scorched the nearby rocks and soil to a fiery red.

Chu Feng incinerated all the "rock carvings" he had left for the young Daoist priest. Red liquid flowed everywhere, bubbling and spreading like molten iron.

“Son, take your time studying this underground. This is our Chu family's heirloom, containing earth-shattering secrets. Even powerful figures in the Yang Realm would be envious if they knew about it. Study it carefully.”

After these words were spoken, a peculiar emotion seemed to settle over the land, as if someone nearby were genuinely listening, and an immense regret was slowly dissipating.

“Child, look carefully!” Chu Feng said.

However, at this moment, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he swept them over the distant cloud.

The cloud high in the sky was light and ethereal, drifting into the distance.

Just then, Chu Feng suddenly moved, leaping from the ground and soaring into the sky. He instantly reached the cloud, extending a large hand to grab at it.

“Chirp, croak!” strange cries echoed from within the cloud. First, they sounded like a panicked chick, then like a crow flapping its wings and squawking as it frantically tried to escape.

Inside the cloud was a hawk with immaculate golden plumage, not a single stray feather, as resplendent as if carved from gold, and clearly terrified.

It was a young bird, not very large, perhaps half a foot long, but its lineage was extraordinary. Its vital energy was remarkably dense, far surpassing other raptors of its kind.

“Uncle, please don’t kill me. I was just passing by and saw that someone could approach the stone mill. Out of curiosity, I spied from a distance. I have no ill intentions, and I wouldn’t dare to!”

The golden exotic bird emitted a clear, distinctly childish voice. It truly seemed to be an immature golden hawk, ceaselessly pleading for mercy.

Chu Feng stared at it intently, then grabbed it in his hand. With a whoosh, he swooped down to the ground, landing on a hill outside the stone mill area.

“Interesting,” Chu Feng commented, holding the young bird. His expression was calm, his eyes deep, with a faint, divine light flickering within them.

“Uncle, I’m scared. Please don’t kill me, okay?” the young bird pleaded, its voice tender and trembling, its clear eyes wide with a hint of panic, begging Chu Feng to spare its life.

Chu Feng smiled, then abruptly sobered, flicking its head. The golden young bird shrieked in pain as a large bump immediately swelled on its head.

“It hurts so much, it hurts so much, chirp, chirp! Uncle, please don’t kill me, don’t eat me. Huang’er is still small, not grown up yet; my meat won’t taste good. Please let me go, sob…”

With its golden wings, tender voice, and vulnerable, pitiful demeanor, this young bird could indeed easily move even those with hearts of stone.

However, Chu Feng remained unmoved. He simply held the bird, showing no sympathy whatsoever, but instead turned it over and over, inspecting its entire body.

“Pretending to be pitiful won’t work,” Chu Feng said, unswayed. After observing carefully for a moment, he unleashed his Yin-Yang qi, transforming into a beam of light. He shot out of the area and landed on the barren plains.

Then, two golden beams shot from his eyes as he activated his Fiery Golden Eyes. He was searching for the four-winged rhinoceros, intending to find it again.

“Quite cunning, trying to escape?!” Chu Feng said with a cold smile. His figure flickered and vanished from his spot, appearing as if teleporting ten li away. Then, he moved again, vanishing from that spot once more.

It was as if he was using the “Shrinking Ground into an Inch” technique; mountains and plains seemed to recede beneath his feet. With a slight movement, vast stretches of land appeared to fall away behind him.

Boom!

Sonic booms and the roar of surging energy, like startling thunder, resounded across the barren plains, cutting through the deadly silence and shattering the tranquility.

With a whoosh, Chu Feng appeared directly in front, blocking the four-winged flying rhinoceros and bringing the golden beast to a halt.

“Senior, please spare my life! I never intended to offend you, and just recently, I was very respectful and answered all your questions. Why are you here again?”

The flying rhinoceros trembled, unable to speak coherently, looking utterly terrified.

Chu Feng extended a hand, pressing down on its head, forcing it from mid-air directly to the ground, and watched it with a cold smile.

“Interesting,” Chu Feng mused. “Both of you are golden, and you appeared in this area at the same time. You certainly have something in common.”

“Senior, what do you mean? I don’t understand.” The flying rhinoceros’s fur bristled, its eyes darted in panic, and it constantly backed away.

“If you have nothing to hide, why are you trying to escape?” Chu Feng asked it.

The four-winged flying rhinoceros replied, “I saw Senior display your power, able to move freely within the stone mill area. Moreover, you even claimed you would slaughter demon gods and flatten the Savage Beast Plateau. I genuinely got scared and wanted to leave this troubled place as soon as possible.”

Chu Feng sneered, saying, “You have reasons, and they’re well-founded. But you’re so flustered, your words aren’t coherent, yet your logic is still clear. Are you deliberately feigning fear, when in fact you’re quite calm?”

“No, I’m really scared. I’m worried you’re a god-slaying being, afraid of getting into trouble, so I wanted to escape.” The flying rhinoceros grew even more frightened.

“Alright, you’re still trying to trick me, you’re really something!” As he spoke, Chu Feng’s brow furrowed in annoyance. “In all my life, this is the first time I’ve been scammed, and so miserably! Just a while ago, my emotions were violently fluctuating, and my heart was devastated. You two are truly something else!”

He recalled his recent grief, the tears that had welled up, and his profound sadness over those carvings. Now, he truly wanted to hit someone, to go berserk.

He knew he had been tricked!

None of it was real!

Who was Chu Feng? The entire starry sky knew him by the infamous moniker “The Human Trafficker.” A group of Saint Sons and Goddesses called him “Great Devil Chu.” With even the slightest flaw in such a scheme, he could discern the truth.

Earlier, his concern had clouded his judgment, but now he was completely clear-headed.

“Young Daoist priest, Chu Nan, Chu Wuhen, I’ll beat you to death!” Chu Feng roared in fury, grabbing the young bird.

“Ah… Senior, why are you grabbing me? I’m so scared!” The golden young bird trembled, its voice tender and filled with terror, its pure, round eyes looking at Chu Feng, appearing utterly pitiful.

“You little rascal! Your biggest flaw was coming out too early. What kind of person is your father? My divine senses are so sharp that any rustle of wind or grass brings an immediate feeling to my heart. How dare you hide in the clouds and spy? Do you think that just because you’ve mastered the supreme Heavenly Venerate secret technique from your past life, you can fool me? You too were probably clouded by concern, too focused on the family heirloom!”

Chu Feng’s face was filled with anger. After all, he had indeed been completely deceived at first, falling into a big trap. Of course, this was mainly due to his preconceptions and his deep concern for those people.

“Uncle, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Please don’t eat me, okay? I’m really scared.” The golden young bird whimpered, its voice tender and weak, its large eyes fluttering, on the verge of tears, looking pitifully at Chu Feng, appearing utterly innocent.

“Senior, is there some misunderstanding here? We truly don’t understand.” The four-winged flying rhinoceros also spoke, trembling with extreme fear.

Chu Feng kicked the flying rhinoceros aside and stared at the golden young bird, saying, “I admit, your secret technique from your past life is very powerful, almost able to fool my Fiery Golden Eyes. However, my golden eyes still sensed something abnormal about you. Even if I couldn’t immediately pinpoint it, I could feel that your soul light within you was problematic. You turned into a bird to trick your dad?!”

As he said this, Chu Feng began to heavily knock the golden young bird’s head.

“Ah… it hurts so much! Stop it, Senior, you’ve got the wrong person!”

Chu Feng gritted his teeth and said, “What’s most detestable is that you even found an accomplice, a rhino accomplice, to help you deceive me!” The more Chu Feng spoke, the angrier he became.

Then, he slapped the flying rhinoceros, making it shriek in pain and instantly sending it flying off, half-kneeling.

“It was a scam from beginning to end. Now that I think back carefully, there were many flaws.” Chu Feng was furious, having fallen into the young Daoist priest’s trap, making him indignant. He said, “You carved so many words on the rock, expending so much effort and emotion, all to set the stage. In the end, it was just to bring up the family heirloom matter, seemingly casually mentioned, but that was the main point. You scoundrel who scammed your own father, I’ll beat you to death!”

Whack, whack!

Without another word, Chu Feng immediately started beating the golden young bird. He truly found satisfaction in the pummeling, causing the young bird to shriek incessantly, flapping its wings, rolling its eyes, and almost passing out.

“Stop, stop!” the golden young bird screamed, saying, “It’s all your conjecture! You’re wronging me, Uncle… you can’t just slaughter a bird’s life like this!”

“Damn it, I’m your actual father, and now I’m demoted to ‘Uncle’? I’ll beat you to death! You won’t give up until you hit the Yellow River, you just deserve a beating!” Chu Feng resumed beating it, and golden feathers flew everywhere for a moment.

“Ah, stop! What evidence do you have? Don’t just kill good birds indiscriminately!” the golden young bird cried out.

“What evidence do I need to talk about? I felt it in my heart, realized it instantly, and detecting the flaws was enough. Because I’m your dad, I don’t need evidence!” Chu Feng said, then inverted the bird and smacked it hard.

“Ow… Great Devil Chu, stop! Dad, stop! If you hit me again, don’t blame me for being impolite, I’m going to resist!” The golden young bird struggled and howled.

The young Daoist priest stopped hiding, because he felt this dad was utterly barbaric, not even bothering with evidence, just grabbing him and savagely beating him.

If he kept pretending, he would only suffer losses, taking a beating for no reason. It was better to reveal everything sooner. Meeting such a father, he also felt a headache coming on.

Not long ago, he had been smug, his grand scheme to trick his father was incredibly ingenious, and everything had gone smoothly. But in such a short time, the tables had turned, and he was the one who got tricked and received such a brutal beating.

Chu Feng stared, panting heavily. After hearing the young Daoist priest admit it himself, he truly wanted to smack his bottom raw. This was indeed a true definition of… “scamming his own father.”

The thought that he had just been “schemed against” filled him with shame and indignation. It was the first time in his life! So, he desperately wanted to violently beat this brat!

“You’re really something! You must have put a lot of effort into carving those words on the rocks, even creating an atmosphere of overwhelming loneliness and sorrow, as if the world was silent, time had changed, and only one person remained. You’re truly something!”

“And you even hired a rhinoceros to wait nearby, creating a rhino accomplice, a whole group to trick your dad! One trick after another, all interlocking!”

As he said this, the more Chu Feng thought about it, the angrier he became. Whack, whack! He savagely beat the young bird again.

Then, with a wave of his hand, he also brought the flying rhinoceros over and beat it with all his might.

This damn accomplice had cooperated so perfectly, deceiving Chu Feng and setting him up. This made him extremely displeased, leading to a brutal beating.

“Stop hitting me! If you hit me anymore, my body will be ruined! Dad, Devil Dad, stop immediately, let’s have a proper talk!” the young Daoist priest howled.

He felt depressed. His attempt to trick his father had failed, and now he was the one in the trap. This brutal beating was utterly not worth it. His whole body ached, and he grimaced in pain.

The four-winged flying rhinoceros also wailed, loudly proclaiming its innocence: “Senior, none of this concerns me! It was the young Daoist priest who threatened and intimidated me into doing this. Moreover, he even had a wisp of his soul light enter my flesh; those words were all spoken by him!”

The young Daoist priest cried out, “Stop hitting me, Dad! You black-hearted great devil! When you realized something was wrong, you immediately burned all the secrets of the family heirloom you were supposed to mention into magma! I didn’t see anything, damn it, and you’re still hitting me? You old fox, stop!”

“Your dad here is only fourteen and a half, still in his prime, just like a lotus bud beginning to unfurl. How dare you call me old? I’ll beat you to death!” Chu Feng continued to hit them without hesitation, punching the young bird and kicking the rhinoceros, venting his anger there.

“Pretending to be young deserves to be struck by lightning! I know your true background, my own mother told me!” The young Daoist priest became desperate. “Dad, stop! This young bird is a spiritual egg I painstakingly discovered, and it only hatched recently. Its flesh and blood perfectly match my divine soul; don’t ruin it!”

Chu Feng finally stopped, because he felt that the young Daoist priest’s soul light was very weak, which seemed off.

Then, under his interrogation, the young Daoist priest revealed the truth: this was merely a wisp of soul light he had left behind, a mere avatar. His true soul light was not here; it was with Qin Luoyin and the others.

He had left a wisp of his soul light mainly to temper a useful physical body, and incidentally… to trick his dad.

“Ow! Why are you hitting me again? Stop, Dad! Can we call it even this time? You tricked me on the reincarnation path and stole my black talismans. Now it’s an eye for an eye. After you return my talismans, no one will owe anyone anything. Of course, you’re still… my dear dad.”

The young Daoist priest softened his stance, because he was almost out of temper from being beaten.

However, Chu Feng was still displeased. From the boy’s mouth, he learned that this “dad-scammer” young Daoist priest had truly put a lot of thought into it. When carving on the rocks, he deliberately aged the script, making it look like hundreds of years old writing. He had spent all sorts of effort, specifically to trick his dad.

“How much time has passed now?” Chu Feng asked.

“More than a year!” the young Daoist priest replied.

The flow of time in the narrow space over five thousand li long behind the stone mill was different from that in the Great Dream Pure Land. Compared to the Savage Beast Plateau, one day there was equivalent to over a month.

At this moment, Chu Feng was still very displeased, mainly because he was currently beating an avatar of the young Daoist priest, not his true soul light.

“Lead the way!” Chu Feng commanded.

“To where?” the young Daoist priest asked.

“To find your true self!” Chu Feng said.

“What do you want to do?!” The young Daoist priest felt a guilty conscience and his fur bristled slightly.

“Naturally, to beat the real you!” Chu Feng felt he had been thoroughly tricked, even moved to tears by this young Daoist priest, which he found somewhat humiliating.

No one had ever managed to mess with him like this before!

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, and his face flushed red. “Son, I’ll beat you to death!” Chu Feng declared, clearly, this was a threat brewing for the true self.

The young Daoist priest’s avatar instinctively shrunk its neck, sensing that things were not good. It absolutely did not want to lead the way; it did not want its true self to be beaten!

“Dad, as the saying goes, ‘those who are not family don’t enter the same door.’ Don’t you think we’re very similar?”

Upon hearing this, Chu Feng’s nose nearly twisted in anger. After scamming his own father, he still dared to say they were similar? He directly grabbed the young Daoist priest by the neck, forcing him to lead the way. He was going to beat that scoundrel to death!
