Chapter 600: The End of Reincarnation

Chu Feng's expression grew solemn. Unconsciously, he had approached the end of reincarnation. Feeling the pressure, he slowly drew the long saber he had seized from the path of reincarnation, becoming serious and gravely vigilant.

Since ancient times, humans and other species have debated and discussed where individuals and other beings go after death, and whether there is reincarnation. This led to various legends about the underworld and netherworld, but who has ever seen or confirmed them? Even as evolvers, they could not touch upon such concepts. The more powerful the cultivator, the more firmly they believed only in evolution, not in so-called reincarnation or anything else. Of course, evolvers from certain unique systems were an exception!

It could be said that all beings, whether ordinary people or powerful figures in an advanced civilization, ponder throughout their lives what happens after death: whether consciousness persists, if there is an afterlife, what the next form of life will be, and where the next stop is. This is an eternal topic, the ultimate mystery all sentient beings have explored, yet it remains unanswered. Now, Chu Feng had arrived, determined to unravel this mystery and see it clearly.

Finally, it was their turn. They reached the forefront of the desert, where the terrain abruptly dropped. Ahead, beyond the desert, was an ancient road leading to an unknown place. Beyond the desert, there was no starry sky, only darkness. A small path, laid out in the void, meandered into the darkness. The soul-stirring melody clearly emanated from ahead, causing the void to hum faintly. They had arrived; this was the place!

Chu Feng followed the main group forward. Then, he saw one spiritual body after another directly falling ahead, only to vanish. The path ahead was broken! "Hmm?!" What was happening? Was this the end of the reincarnation path? The darkness was boundless, and visibility was limited. Even with a spiritual body, the path ahead was obscured, as if eternally swallowed by darkness.

Then, Chu Feng realized that the so-called soul melody was emanating from the void itself, drawing people's spirits and making all soul bodies calm down. After that, they ultimately leaped up and plunged into the boundless darkness. Chu Feng recoiled in horror, taking a few steps back. He had reached the end of the broken path and moved to the side, genuinely afraid of being accidentally knocked down by another spiritual body. He focused on defending himself against the nine-mouthed monster behind him, an incredibly unruly creature that enjoyed bumping into others and pushing forward.

The nine-mouthed monster, impatient, knocked over a large group of spiritual bodies and plunged down directly. Chu Feng watched as it vanished into thin air. "Farewell, old friend. I wonder where you're going and if we'll ever meet again." Chu Feng looked down. Hundreds of thousands, even millions, of spirits continuously leaped downward. It was like a black abyss, swallowing all spiritual bodies. He clearly observed that the stronger the spiritual body, the farther it leaped forward, while weaker ones vanished into thin air almost as soon as they stepped off the broken path.

Chu Feng sat beside the broken path, not obstructing the main group. Of course, he dared not go near the edge, remaining there and observing intently. This time, he didn't dare to follow rashly. He was in his physical body; if he jumped down to be reincarnated, it would be a huge problem. Moreover, even if only his spiritual body remained, he wouldn't want to start over; he only wanted to be himself.

Chu Feng observed for a long time but couldn't discern anything. He didn't understand how these spiritual bodies ultimately vanished into thin air. Did they simply go to be reincarnated? Then, he tried to cut off a piece of his sleeve and threw it into the darkness beyond the broken path. He saw that the sleeve piece also suddenly disappeared. He was startled and muttered about his transgression. If reincarnation truly existed, what if someone were born with a piece of his sleeve? At that moment, Chu Feng felt a surge of guilt.

Then, with a bang, he was nearly knocked into the dark abyss by a three-headed, six-armed monster. He immediately grew furious; he had already hidden far enough away yet was still attacked. He seized the creature, which truly looked like a fierce ghost and tried to bite him. Chu Feng bared his teeth and said, "I'll leave a mark on you, so you learn a lesson!" He decisively carved a few words onto the monster's soul body: "My uncle is Chu Feng!" Then, he kicked the monster down into the abyss.

Bored, Chu Feng stood guard there, occasionally experiencing impacts from particularly strong and fierce spiritual bodies. He showed no mercy, carving "My uncle is Chu Feng!" onto any exceptionally wicked ones. For those generally malevolent yet extremely powerful, he carved: "My brother is Chu Feng!" Remembering the arrogant declaration "My father is Li Gang!" from Earth centuries ago, he felt that his own mischievous habit, if widely adopted, might create some sort of strange, cult-like effect in the future.

After that, Chu Feng himself became somewhat numb. There were always defiant beings, driven by powerful instincts from their former lives, charging wildly, and he dealt with all of them. He didn't realize this would lead to unforeseen changes! It might be insignificant in the short term, but at some point in the future, it could spark a massive upheaval.

Chu Feng didn't know how long he had stayed there. Eventually, whenever he saw a powerful spiritual body, he would actively go and deal with it, leaving his "mark." Later, he pondered the implications: if reincarnation truly existed, then in a decade or two, a group of exceptionally talented individuals growing up with these warning messages on their souls would certainly create immense chaos.

"I'm just trying to verify whether reincarnation exists. This is an experiment conducted with a scientific, rigorous, and responsible attitude. Don't blame me; I might even discover a great law of physics!" In truth, Chu Feng himself felt a pang of guilt. Talking about science and laws of physics in this manner, Newton's coffin lid would probably pop open, and he might want to climb out and fight Chu Feng. After speaking with a slight lack of confidence, he looked left and right, feeling as if something was watching him.

"Hmm?!" Suddenly, Chu Feng spotted a super spiritual body: a Vermilion Bird. It spread its wings and soared into the air, leaping far away and plunging into the depths of the dark void. Chu Feng was astonished to see steps appearing out of nowhere in the void. The Vermilion Bird flapped its wings, struggling to grasp hold and climb upward, but unfortunately, it ultimately fell. A dazed, large worm, accidentally bumped into the Vermilion Bird while it was airborne and was carried along. As the Vermilion Bird descended, the worm used the slight leverage to swing its tail across to the opposite side, like a pendulum, snagging a railing and successfully crossing over.

"What's going on?!" Chu Feng was astonished. Was there another world on the other side? The Vermilion Bird failed, yet an ordinary large worm succeeded in crossing over. Then, he stopped moving, remaining there to observe carefully. After a long time, a proud and untamed Golden-winged Great Peng flew across. Driven by an audacious impulse, it lunged towards the other side, and indeed, the steps and stone railing reappeared. No creature could fly here; they relied solely on their momentum. The Peng bird slammed with a thud against the cold, sheer cliff face beneath the stone steps on the opposite side. With a cry of distress, it plummeted into the abyss. There truly was another world on the other side!

Chu Feng realized that every soul body was actually lunging forward, instinctively wanting to reach the opposite shore! However, none of them leaped as far as the Vermilion Bird or the Golden-winged Great Peng. Only super spiritual bodies could do this, touching the other side and causing its terrain to manifest. Chu Feng was deeply shaken. Was there another path at the end of reincarnation?

He waited there for several days, estimating that the spiritual bodies he saw daily numbered in the hundreds of millions. It was important to note that Chu Feng had previously seen at the stone mill that ninety percent of these soul bodies were evolvers at or above the Golden Arhat level. However, after being crushed by the stone mill, everything returned to its origin; all their terrifying cultivation was severed, with only a few super spiritual bodies retaining a trace of their abilities and some biological instincts. "On Earth itself, there might not even be one evolver at the Golden Arhat level, yet there are so many here every day…" Golden Arhats were certainly not numerous on other life-bearing planets either. Chu Feng seriously doubted whether these were still Golden Arhats born in his own universe being formatted. He suspected that evolvers from other realms were being sent here for reincarnation.

Over the next few days, he saw two creatures resembling true Phoenixes also fail to cross, crashing into the cliff face on the opposite side. They climbed a few steps upward but ultimately cried out and fell into the abyss. At the same time, he saw a creature suspected to be a true Dragon also fail. This place had a sense of equality for all beings, making it difficult even for super lifeforms to cross to the other shore.

Several days later, Chu Feng was suddenly startled, feeling something unusual. A ripple came from the large group behind him, and he saw a golden light approaching rapidly. Chu Feng opened his Fiery Golden Eyes and clearly saw a humanoid figure holding a radiant golden talisman. The figure itself didn't appear special, but the light emanating from the golden talisman enveloped and protected him, allowing him to float through the air and approach. "Can he fly?!"

Even after arriving here, the humanoid figure remained airborne, about to fly to the other side. Chu Feng grabbed one of its arms, intending to stop it and take a look, as he didn't sense any danger or feel that this individual was particularly powerful. Indeed, he managed to stop the figure. "How can a mere soul body stop me?" The spiritual body actually spoke. Although it appeared dazed, it conveyed its meaning, holding the golden talisman with a slightly bewildered expression on its face.

"Who are you, and where are you from?" Chu Feng asked in surprise. "I've forgotten. I haven't reached the destination yet, so I can't recall the past," the humanoid figure murmured almost dreamily. Being a spiritual body, it emitted mental fluctuations, which was why Chu Feng could understand it. Then, Chu Feng gritted his teeth and said, "You keep flying; I'll follow you!"

Chu Feng had a feeling that the golden talisman was extraordinarily powerful. If he weren't in his physical body and protected by the stone box, he likely wouldn't have been able to touch this person. He noticed that the golden talisman bore only one symbol, which closely resembled one of the dozens of golden symbols on the stone mill. This was definitely something defying the heavens! However, he was fearless now, as dozens of golden symbols had appeared on his stone box, making it even more comprehensive. Who had written this golden talisman for this person, protecting them during reincarnation?! Upon closer thought, it was terrifying! As far as he knew, the top ten star realms in the starry sky, including the Celestial God Race, Dao Race, Sub-Immortal Race, and Buddhist Race, had no path for reincarnation. Those were already considered the most powerful races in this universe!

Chu Feng no longer used his energy to restrain the figure. Indeed, led by the golden talisman, the figure floated through the air once more, heading towards the opposite shore. Chu Feng gritted his teeth, lightly holding one of its arms, and in his physical form, crossed over with it. During this process, he felt a terrifying suction from the darkness beneath his feet, attempting to pull him down. It seemed like a path of reincarnation, drawing people towards rebirth. It was an ineffable, unclear sensation. Chu Feng truly began to suspect: was the abyss below him the final portal to rebirth, a direct route to reincarnation if one fell in? Ultimately, without major incident, he followed the figure across the darkness, arriving on the opposite shore and landing on the steps.

"Oh my god, a ghost scaring a ghost is terrifying, and it can scare a human to death too! What are you doing just sitting here?!" In that very instant, as Chu Feng climbed the massive steps, he nearly tumbled down because a figure was seated cross-legged above, looking down upon everything below. He had reached the endpoint. Following the figure with the golden talisman, he had arrived at the very end of the path. At the highest point, a dark figure sat cross-legged. When Chu Feng suddenly noticed the figure, even with his great skill and daring, it sent shivers down his spine. It was too abrupt, and he nearly tumbled down.
