Chapter 595: Light Dead City

A city of light in a world of darkness—what a stark contrast.

The pitch-black expanse was vast and boundless. The land was lifeless, dead silent, like a desolate Gobi Desert. Elsewhere, it was so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

Only here, as if the sun had fallen, stood a magnificent city, its light soaring into the heavens, illuminating the void. The meteorites scattered across the sky above were clearly visible.

Chu Feng was suspicious. What kind of place was this? He did not approach rashly, but observed carefully from a distance. It was too bizarre to find such brilliant light in a world as dark as hell.

From a great distance, he circled the city, using his Fiery Golden Eyes to observe the scene before it.

Soon, his pupils constricted. As he rounded a corner, he saw an incredibly horrific sight: the area near the city was crimson, strewn with countless corpses, dismembered limbs, and broken bodies.

So many creatures dead?!

There were human bodies, as well as skeletons of various fierce beasts and raptors. Some were golden roc birds, still bleeding. Others were black, sun-like crows that, even after falling, remained upright, their dark light still radiating. Many more belonged to races he had never seen or heard of.

These corpses must have been left countless years ago, yet they had not decayed. They were still bleeding, still gleaming, an innumerable collection of remains.

Some individuals were immense, like asteroids. Others were represented only by a bloody black claw, taller than a mountain, tens of thousands of feet high—their full size would be unimaginable.

Here lay slain star beasts and cosmic beasts—creatures whose bodies surpassed the size of stars and other celestial bodies—blown apart on this land.

This was truly a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, the site of a brutal massacre!

Chu Feng's gaze grew solemn. He realized that among the dead were even divine beasts and sacred birds—rare and exceptionally powerful cosmic races, yet some individuals had perished here.

Next, he circled to another side of the city, where he saw various plants. Black dandelions were rooted in flesh, devouring light and twisting space; eerie peach trees absorbed blood, their entire forms glowing an oily green; silver walnut trees were withered, bearing strange and startling fruits that had once caused nuclear explosions, with frighteningly dense radioactive material still lingering around them. There were also beautiful, unknown, and seductive flowers whose petals contained the remains of half a dragon's torso, most of its flesh digested, with the rest yet to dissolve.

This place was horrifying. While there were vast stretches of corpses, even more bizarre were the plants!

However, after careful observation, Chu Feng realized that while the plants still appeared vibrant, each one had lost its life force, merely retaining its former appearance.

He did not recognize ninety percent of the plants. Some flowers had even devoured half a dragon's torso, which was quite unsettling.

Chu Feng focused, feeling a chill rise from the depths of his heart. The area he was observing was extraordinary. He circled a short distance and saw, near the center of the plant growth, a plant resembling a spider plant, as tall as a small mountain. Each of its long, incredibly thick stems extended for hundreds, even thousands, of feet, their tips resembling spearheads, piercing through living beings.

"Saints!"

Chu Feng gasped. At the tip of each long stem of the spider plant, impaled and bloody, were creatures suspected to be of saint level, their auras terrifyingly potent.

For instance, raptors resembling three-legged Golden Crows, their wings glowing golden like the sun, hung from the spider plant. There were also peacocks, their sacred power overwhelming, their outstretched wings stunningly beautiful and brilliant. And there were golden-glowing Hou, mythical beasts said to be the mounts of golden-bodied Bodhisattvas, also of saint level, bloody. These creatures, belonging to dozens of different races, had all been impaled by the spider plant, meeting an unnatural end.

Chu Feng was stunned; saints had been impaled here in droves, an incredibly terrifying sight.

Next, he arrived at the third direction, where he saw only heads—peacock heads, white elephant heads, Taotie heads… and countless human heads. The sight was gruesome, densely packed and piled together, numbering in the millions!

This was merely one city, yet a single direction contained the severed heads of so many creatures, as if on display.

Finally, Chu Feng returned to his starting point and gazed intently. The ground was not empty; the crimson soil was, in fact, congealed blood mud.

The City of Light in the darkness was far from beautiful; its exterior alone, paved with blood mud and corpses, revealed it to be a city built of flesh and blood. The mighty had been reduced to putrid mud, transforming it into a bright yet desolate city of death—a desperate land.

Standing at his original vantage point, Chu Feng sighed inwardly. So many powerful individuals, yet all had met a tragic end. In this single city, casualties numbered in the millions.

In those distant ages, the lives of evolvers were truly worthless!

Then, he realized that the stone box he carried was reacting unusually here; one of its corners had begun to glow.

Chu Feng took it in his hand and observed it closely. A crystalline luster had appeared on one of its edges—it was very strange, as only that one edge had changed, the rest remaining unaltered.

The stone box was square, three inches high, and perfectly regular. Originally, it was just common stone, but now that corner had acquired a sheen.

Using his Fiery Golden Eyes, Chu Feng observed carefully, sensing an anomaly. He then uncovered a secret: the so-called crystalline luster was, in fact, made of dense patterns. Focusing again, he saw what looked like a group of tiny tadpoles swimming, very nimble and magical.

His pupils flared with golden light, growing increasingly brilliant as he continuously gazed at that corner of the stone box.

Chu Feng was convinced that no one else, unless they possessed the Heavenly Eye ability, would be able to discern the true nature of these patterns. They appeared to be... some kind of ancient script.

Even the spiritual eyes of evolvers could not see through them!

Chu Feng calmed his mind and concentrated, his eyes emitting materialized beams of light that fell upon the stone box. Various doubts filled his heart: were those symbols, so minute that only his Fiery Golden Eyes could perceive them, truly a form of writing? Because, when viewed as a whole again, they connected to form a pattern resembling rolling mountain ranges!

It was extraordinary!

He knew this stone box held a great secret.

It was a pity that only one corner had lit up. If the entire box had done so, perhaps a more complete pattern could be discerned.

Could it be that only this corner bore the patterns?

Chu Feng raised the stone box high with his right hand, holding it towards the City of Light to illuminate it and observe further. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in the left side of his body, as if it were being torn apart.

"What's happening?"

Chu Feng was greatly startled, deeply sensing an aura of death permeating the air, threatening to engulf him.

He lowered his arm, put away the stone box, and looked around. The flesh-絞殺ing pain immediately vanished, and the sense of impending death receded.

"Hmm?!"

Soon, Chu Feng understood: this was related to the stone box. When it was moved a certain distance away from him, he would experience the illusion of imminent death and spiritual annihilation.

"This city is emitting killing intent!"

Not long after, Chu Feng understood the situation. This was a city of light that was, in fact, a city of death. Any living creature entering it would be strangled, annihilated, its body and spirit perishing.

This was because the creatures that died here were terrifyingly powerful, including many saint-level beings and even stronger entities. After their deaths, their blood had never dried, forming a monstrous aura of killing intent. An evolver of Chu Feng's level would be instantly reduced to a puddle of blood here, unable to survive.

He could only reach this point because of the stone box's protection.

Chu Feng conducted multiple experiments. Without the stone box, just a few hundred miles away, his entire body would begin to ache intensely, and at that distance, he could only see a vast expanse of light on the horizon.

He gasped, realizing this place was indeed utterly terrifying!

He immediately understood that when the vital energy of powerful beings dispersed after death, it created a desolate realm of destruction. Considering there were divine birds, sacred beasts, and even the torso of a true dragon here, not to mention dozens of saint-level creatures hanging from a single spider plant, the scale of destruction was immense.

The Radiant City of Death!

This was a desperate realm, like a purgatory. Any creature that stepped inside would instantly perish, dissolving into putrid blood or a puddle of mud!

From the current circumstances, it seemed that even the so-called Arhats with Golden Bodies would have their golden forms shattered here, strangled outside the mysterious city.

Chu Feng seriously doubted that even saints would remain unharmed.

After all, many saints had perished here!

Subsequently, Chu Feng recalled the flower bud that had devoured and digested half a dragon, as well as the spider plant. He suspected an even higher level of being, muttering to himself, "Don't tell me those were beings of the Heaven-Mirroring level!"

If that were the case, this area would be unimaginable, a true hell on earth, where perhaps even some forbidden existences of the Heaven-Mirroring level had perished?!

Immediately, Chu Feng's blood ran cold. He felt he had severely underestimated this place.

Then, holding the stone box, he gazed at it intently once more. What exactly was this item? It had suddenly revived, unlike anything before, and it was capable of protecting him even in such a perilous place.

It was too mysterious; this stone box possessed an extraordinary strangeness!

He had found it at the foot of Kunlun Mountain. He had once asked Yaoyao about it, only to be told that there was no record of this stone box or the three seeds during Earth's ancient era.

The Earth's most significant inheritances and artifacts did not include this stone box or the seeds.

It was well known that inheritances and artifacts like the Dao-Stealing Breathing Technique were coveted even by the top ten Heavenly God Races from beyond this domain.

"Could it be that this stone box is older than Earth's most brilliant and glorious period, possessing a different origin and source?"

Chu Feng's mind raced with possibilities, momentarily lost in thought.

Then, carrying the stone box, he approached the Radiant City of Death and stepped into the desperate battlefield. He was instantly horrified, for in that moment, he felt a surge of inexplicable fluctuations.

He instinctively stretched his body, performed fist techniques, and circulated the Dao-Stealing Breathing Technique.

What happened next profoundly shook him. In this vast and terrifying battlefield, various fist intents surged like a deluge, pressing down on him to the point of suffocation.

Undoubtedly, without the stone box, he would have instantly exploded, leaving not even a mist of blood!

But now it was different. He gained inexplicable insights. Under the oppressive force of various monstrous sword intents and fist techniques, he felt as if he were being honed, akin to his physical body being tempered by True Samadhi Fire.

Chu Feng felt inspired. Here, he practiced his spiritual martial arts and demonstrated his physical cultivation. Under the oppressive might of the killing aura, fist intents, and sword dao concepts, he felt as though he was undergoing a baptism, which was greatly accelerating his progress!

He was self-taught, without systematic instruction, differing in many aspects from disciples of established sects. This suppression and tempering greatly benefited him.

Days passed, and the starry skies grew increasingly restless.

While people were hotly debating the deaths of Chu Feng and Qin Luoyin in Kunlun, a new topic emerged in the cosmos, sending shockwaves through various galaxies.

"The Primordial Magnetic Saint Body has emerged! Unbelievable—such a peerless physique appearing in this era! It's said that with the release of its primordial magnetic light, all experts in the world are subdued, and it's unstoppable!"

"I recall an era when a Primordial Magnetic Saint Body dominated the cosmos, sweeping aside all foes without finding a single match, before finally venturing into the broken universe deep within chaos and vanishing."

The emergence of such an individual left all races uneasy. Once they reached their later stages, they would undoubtedly project onto the heavens, overshadowing the world, becoming truly invincible.

"You are ill-informed! Not only has the Primordial Magnetic Saint Body appeared, but also terrifying bloodlines like the Divine Glass Golden Body and the Heavenly Mandate Immortal Body. Some have already challenged Daozi, Fozi, Ying Wudi, and other top-ranked young experts in the cosmos. This is truly a declaration to conquer all!"

"What?!"

Many people were horrified. These unparalleled bloodlines had also appeared? This would certainly unleash an enormous wave of change.

"Unfortunately, Daozi, Ying Wudi, and others were not among their respective clans at the time; they were on Earth, so this battle couldn't commence, otherwise, it would have been quite a spectacle. However, there are frequent unconfirmed reports that individuals with invincible bloodlines are heading to Earth, preparing to challenge several of the top ten young experts in the cosmos and upend the rankings. It's truly exciting!"

People were stunned by this news. Those with invincible physiques were coming to Earth to contend against Daozi, Yuan Shicheng, Fozi, Ying Wudi, and others?!

Since Luofu of the Heavenly God Race, Ying Wudi of the Asian Immortal Race, and others had not yet departed and remained on Earth, didn't this signify the imminent outbreak of a brilliant and dazzling struggle for supremacy among various prodigies?

At the same time, many were also filled with surprise and doubt. Yuan Shicheng, Ying Wudi, Luofu of the Heavenly God Race, and others were the strongest heirs from the top ten stellar worlds in the universe. Who would dare provoke them? Most lacked the courage to challenge them, fearing annihilation by the ancient beings behind those top ten stellar worlds, which had remained constant throughout history!

"Reports indicate that the Primordial Magnetic Saint Body, Heavenly Mandate Immortal Body, and others might hail from the broken universe deep within chaos. Therefore, they are fearless and unafraid of retaliation!"

Then, a new message spread: the Feathered Divine Body, Great Evolution Battle Body, and similar physiques were also rumored to have appeared. This stunned all races. What was happening?

Why did all these bloodlines suddenly appear?

Is this meant to overturn the current era?!

Everyone knew that the current rankings were about to be rewritten. A terrifying and glorious new era, destined to illuminate the entire cosmos, was upon them!

"What a pity! Chu Feng died in Kunlun, swallowed by purgatory. Otherwise, he might have shone brilliantly in this era."

"That's not necessarily true. We haven't heard about his physique. What's appearing now are historically proven invincible bloodlines. In such a grand era, where kings gather and brilliance shines everywhere, Demon Chu might not seem all that outstanding compared to them. In fact, relatively speaking, he might even appear quite ordinary."

"He's dead, so what's the point of discussing this? Let's just wait and see what dazzling sparks these individuals will ignite when they clash. Those from the shattered ancient universe might even bring with them unique, forbidden breathing techniques!"

Outside, heated discussions erupted across all major galaxies. Everyone shared a premonition: an unimaginable, oppressive new era was dawning.
