Chapter 494: Heavenly God

The audacity and sheer contempt in the speaker's tone were extraordinary. To brazenly demand Chu Feng's death demonstrated an extreme level of arrogance.

Although the pronouncement came from a young deity among the Top Ten, and Fu Huang was merely relaying the message, he nonetheless advised Chu Feng to choose a burial plot, clearly reflecting his own personal assessment of the situation.

"Brother Chu," Fu Huang stated, "I truly don't have good feelings about your chances. A young deity wants you dead. I estimate you have no hope whatsoever, so you should make arrangements sooner rather than later."

He then reiterated that he was only relaying the words, stressing that everything said was the young deity's own attitude and declaration.

The crowd was stunned. What did it signify when a young deity from the Top Ten issued such a statement? It seemed Chu Feng genuinely had no escape.

Who dared to cross the Top Ten? Their supremacy had been undisputed since ancient times. Their lineage was supreme, ordinarily beyond reach. A direct descendant of the Top Ten possessed an utterly terrifying background. He was like a colossal dragon emerging in the sky, making an occasional appearance to look down upon the world. This time, he had targeted a prey on the ground, intending to eliminate it.

For most, such figures were too distant, with no possibility of interaction. Yet now, this celestial dragon, a young deity, had inexplicably taken an disliking to Chu Feng, openly issuing such a threat! It was evident there was no room for retraction; if Chu Feng did not die, the young deity who had spoken would lose all credibility.

People gasped in collective shock. Earlier, they had perceived Chu Feng as powerful, even tyrannical, like a great demon lord. Now, however, it seemed he was destined for immediate death, which struck them as somewhat pitiful. Compared to a young deity from the Top Ten, the situation was simply unfair. In the eyes of many, Chu Feng's fate was a foregone conclusion, a tragedy waiting to unfold.

Even if Chu Feng were carved from mud and wood, he would still possess a spark of spirit. How dare a so-called young deity issue such a direct death threat to him?!

"Go tell him he's utterly worthless," Chu Feng retorted. "Tell him, and his sister's meddling thoughts, to get lost as far away as possible. If he's not convinced, tell him to come find me on Earth, and I'll slap him dead!"

Chu Feng made his stance clear. He had never been one to tolerate insults, and given that this self-proclaimed young deity had openly called for his death, there was no longer any need for politeness. Even if he were truly outmatched, it was not in his nature to humiliatingly concede. Furthermore, in such a situation, even a surrender would still result in his death at the young deity's hands, making it an even more frustrating outcome.

The onlookers were dumbfounded. Chu Feng's fierce retort signaled his intent to fight to the bitter end, to challenge the young deity himself! For countless years, history had almost consigned such challenges to oblivion. For many eras, no one had dared to directly challenge a descendant of the Top Ten strongest, simply because the odds were overwhelmingly against them.

Fu Huang, however, remained remarkably composed, as if he had anticipated Chu Feng's response. The others, however, were far from calm, whispering and discussing amongst themselves. This was a momentous occasion, and they eagerly anticipated the young deity's arrival on Earth to witness his splendor firsthand!

"Y-y-you... this means there's no room for de-escalation," Zi Luan stammered, visibly flustered. "It means... there's no way out for you." Her words clearly conveyed her deep pessimism regarding Chu Feng's fate.

The opinions of others were even more overwhelmingly one-sided, and far more pronounced than Zi Luan's. Some cast peculiar glances at Chu Feng, regarding him as if he were already dead. Previously, some still harbored resentment and intense hostility towards him. Now, however, they couldn't even summon that animosity, simply content to await the moment when the young deity's followers from the Top Ten would eliminate Chu Feng. Indeed, they didn't believe the young deity would personally involve himself much with Chu Feng. Upon reflection, it was more likely that someone else would handle the matter on his behalf.

Behind the young deity stood not only numerous ancient powerhouses safeguarding his path, but also exceptionally gifted individuals of his own generation who served as loyal, unwavering followers. Young individuals of such caliber, when seen by the outside world, were unequivocally considered heaven-defying prodigies, far surpassing ordinary evolvers.

"You might have offended saints and survived because they cannot descend to this planet," someone explained, "but that young deity has no such limitation. If he wishes, he can cross realms. Among evolvers of the same level, such a person is a god, a ruler, truly unconquerable!"

Chu Feng sighed softly, his gaze drifting towards the azure sea beyond the island. Some observers noted this with peculiar expressions, believing he had finally grasped the gravity of the situation.

"Alas, even if you wished to back down now, it's too late," someone mocked. "The words spoken by that young deity cannot be unsaid."

Chu Feng sighed once more, then spoke aloud: "As for the direct descendants of the Top Ten, how many must I kill before they learn their place?"

Instantly, many were petrified. He was sighing, not from worry, but apparently contemplating something else entirely.

"In the past, it wasn't as if no one had forced them to humble themselves and admit defeat," Chu Feng retorted, his expression remarkably unconcerned. "Why should I be any different?"

He wasn't taking such a serious matter to heart at all? Everyone wore strange expressions, marveling at his audacity. In that instant, a name came to mind: Yao Yao. Not long ago, the golden account "Yao Yao Becomes Immortal" had been reactivated on the Prime Beast platform, unveiling long-hidden truths and causing a massive sensation. It was widely known that she was a woman who had astonished an entire era, forcing even the peerless prodigies of the Top Ten star worlds to bow their heads. Her brilliant radiance overshadowed all rivals as she surveyed the starry sky with disdain.

"Don't imagine you possess Yao Yao's grace," someone cautioned. "There was only one like her, born during this planet's most glorious epoch. You, on the other hand, were born in its darkest period, and your cultivation, resources, and access to an invincible environment are vastly inferior. That past brilliance cannot be replicated."

Someone, a relatively neutral observer with no animosity towards Chu Feng, shook their head, unwilling to believe he could create a miracle. In fact, no rational person believed a second Yao Yao could ever emerge. The birth of one such prodigy was sufficient, their brilliance illuminating an entire age. To replicate such a figure in later generations, especially during Earth's darkest period, was considered an insurmountable challenge.

"You have only one path to survival," Zi Luan offered, hoping Chu Feng would consider her suggestion and release her. "Seek refuge with an opponent of that young deity. Other Dao Children and Heaven's Chosen among the Top Ten would likely be willing to protect you."

"Don't meddle," Chu Feng said, glancing at her. "Do you know my account name on the Prime Beast platform?"

At this point, no rational person held high hopes for him; only Chu Feng himself, appearing somewhat delusional, maintained an air of blind confidence. From the prevailing circumstances and a practical standpoint, any reasonable person would conclude that he was destined for defeat, possessing no discernible advantages.

"Pfft," Lan Shi chuckled. "The golden account: 'How Lonely Is Invincibility.'"

During Chu Feng's first appearance in the starry sky, he had "passionately performed" his song of invincibility on the Prime Beast platform, creating an immense sensation. At the time, the song "How Lonely Is Invincibility," which Chu Feng had simply chanted, became wildly popular, even putting pressure on someone with a celestial voice like Lan Shi. This interruption successfully diverted the previous topic. Finally, the area was once again filled with various voices, breaking free from the strange reverence for the Top Ten that had previously enveloped them.

Throughout this exchange, Chu Feng observed that Fu Huang remained remarkably calm, composed, and unruffled, even when the young deity was mentioned. "That's because he has a strong foundation," Zi Luan whispered. "The Heaven God Demon Slaying Record is derived from the ultimate technique, the Heaven God Breathing Method. His ancestors originated from one of the Top Ten star worlds." Chu Feng also learned more about the young deity who had demanded his death: he was a young master from the Heaven God Clan, possessor of the ultimate breathing technique. This was one of the ten strongest races, revered since ancient times! Given that this clan considered themselves Heaven Gods, one could only imagine their immense glory and terrifying power.

At this point, Chu Feng noticed a curious shift: more people were approaching him for conversation, some even requesting to take photos, while those who had previously harbored hostility had fallen silent. He found it baffling.

"Brother Chu," one person remarked, "I hope you can hold out and live a long life. If you could manage to force that young supreme being of the Heaven God Clan to personally come to this planet and attack you, that would be truly magnificent. Then, my photo with you would become something to boast about to others."

Hearing this, Chu Feng patted his shoulder. "Don't worry," he said. "One day, you'll see how correct your foresight was. My glory will shine upon you."

The person, clearly embarrassed, quickly clarified: "What I meant was, if you could endure long enough for the young master of the Heaven God Clan to personally come and kill you, you'd die with honor. Even if it's just a photo with you, and not the young deity himself, it would still establish a connection."

"Get lost, you idiot!" Chu Feng exploded in fury. So, after all that, he was merely supposed to be a backdrop for the Heaven God Clan's young master, a loser whose demise would highlight the other's glory. This exchange also highlighted the terrifying power of the Top Ten; the Heaven God Clan's young master's every word and deed carried immense influence.

The person grew even more mortified, then watched as Chu Feng pulled out a notebook and began to jot something down. "Brother Chu, what are you doing?"

"Writing down your name," Chu Feng replied. "I'll find an opportunity to sell you later!"

The person's face instantly paled. Damn it, he had completely forgotten! He had been so preoccupied with the thought of this 'demon' being slaughtered by the Heaven God Clan's young master that he'd overlooked Chu Feng's infamous recent exploits of selling off divine sons and saintesses. "No, wait, you can't be that vengeful!" the person hastily pleaded.

Chu Feng ignored him, instead using the opportunity to continuously write in his notebook. He was identifying all the divine sons and saintesses who harbored hostility towards him, planning to suppress, abduct, and sell them all once the inevitable conflict began. If people knew of his brutal intentions, they likely wouldn't sleep or eat soundly.

Having tasted the success of acquiring the peerless technique, "Proximity to the Horizon," Chu Feng was now set on becoming a trafficker. Even with the looming threat from the Heaven God Clan, he had no intention of abandoning this "main occupation."

Meanwhile, Chu Feng engaged in an animated conversation with Lan Shi. Zi Luan, observing closely, noticed his eyes gleaming, realizing he intended to abduct her. She found herself oddly anticipating the consequences if a rising star like Lan Shi, famous throughout the starry sky, were to be abducted by Chu Feng—whether taken for auction or cruelly kept for himself. This haughty woman had grown somewhat devious, secretly hoping Lan Shi would be abducted, thereby causing widespread turmoil in the starry sky, as if fearing a peaceful world.

During this time, Chu Feng also exchanged a few words with Fu Huang. To his surprise, despite Fu Huang's strength and connection to the Heaven God Clan, he was remarkably peaceful and did not elicit any negative feelings from Chu Feng.

"Brother Fu," Chu Feng remarked, "the character 'Huang' in your name is truly excellent. It carries the magnificent and expansive implication of severing ages, suppressing all forces across time, and dominating for a thousand autumns."

Fu Huang looked bewildered. Could 'Huang' truly be interpreted in such a way?

Chu Feng patted his shoulder again. "Unfortunately," he added, "the addition of the character 'Fu' before 'Huang' severely diminishes its divine essence and spoils the entire meaning. You might not have a good end."

Even the usually impassive Fu Huang, who remained perpetually devoid of joy or sorrow, found his face subtly darken at this remark. He immediately turned and walked away.

Lan Shi smiled faintly, her sea-blue gown trailing across the green grass like a blooming divine flower. Enchanting and beautiful, her smile could captivate a city. "Brother Chu, perhaps you don't know," she said, "but Divine Son Fu Huang is about to fight Yuan Mo. Speaking such words at this moment is a bit inauspicious."

Among the assembled individuals, Fu Huang, Xu Liang, and Yuan Mo possessed the greatest strength, while Lan Shi and Ji Ling exhibited the most astonishing spiritual power. The news that Divine Son Fu Huang was preparing for a grand duel with Yuan Mo caused a sensation. However, people quickly realized the reason. The breathing technique of Fu Huang's clan, derived from the Heaven God Breathing Method, was named the "Heaven God Demon Slaying Record," which inherently suggested a deep-seated enmity with demonic forces.

Unfortunately, this battle was private, with no observers allowed. The two engaged in a fierce battle in the distant sea, stirring up towering waves and preventing others from approaching. Everyone else remained respectful and refrained from disturbing them; even Xu Liang stayed quiet and did not attempt to watch the fight.

Chu Feng, naturally curious, eventually left the island, walking on the surface of the sea as he pursued them, eager to witness their techniques. Unfortunately, he arrived too late. Although the battle had been incredibly fierce, it was brief. Both combatants had gone all out, immediately deploying their most powerful trump cards. What might have otherwise been a prolonged fight for victory ended within moments, as both shed blood and the conflict concluded.

Fu Huang emerged victorious, but he bore numerous bloodstains and was severely wounded, making him unfit for further combat. Yuan Mo, on the other hand, was pale and even more grievously wounded. He staggered precariously as he walked on the sea, nearly falling into the vast ocean several times.

"Brother Yuan Mo, are you alright?" Chu Feng hurried over, extending a gesture of goodwill based on his belief that any evolver at odds with the Heaven God Clan lineage was a potential friend.

"Get lost! How I am is none of your concern, and you are not worthy to approach me!" Yuan Mo's curt retort immediately caused Chu Feng's expression to darken. Chu Feng had extended an olive branch, seeking to approach him, but Yuan Mo, with his wild demeanor and cold eyes, completely ignored the overture, instead spouting insults and humiliating Chu Feng.

Then, battle erupted instantly! Perhaps it couldn't even be called a battle. Yuan Mo, severely wounded and with his life in peril, was barely able to walk, staggering with every step. To encounter an enraged Chu Feng in such a state was truly a miserable turn of events for him. He was utterly suppressed, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow.

On the island, many people ventured into the sea, and upon witnessing the battle unfolding before them, they were all dumbfounded, finding it almost impossible to believe their eyes. Wasn't this supposed to be the decisive battle between Fu Huang and Yuan Mo? Yet, before their very eyes... Chu Feng was brutally assaulting Yuan Mo, chasing him relentlessly as blood splattered everywhere!

For a moment, everyone felt a sense of vertigo.
