Chapter 46: Xieli Ting

The night was very dark, with clouds obscuring the stars.

Along the way, the roars of wild beasts could be heard intermittently, and birds of prey could be seen spreading their wings and rising from the mountains, cutting a sharp trajectory through the darkness.

Chu Feng paused briefly. He felt the restlessness of these animals, and he believed that some of them might have truly mutated, but were currently still dormant.

What would happen in the future? No one could say for sure, but he was mentally prepared and did not fear any potential crises.

For over a hundred miles, there were many large mountains along the way. An ordinary person walking alone would feel a suffocating sense of dread.

However, Chu Feng was not afraid. Calm and composed, he moved very quickly through the mountain forest.

Soon after, the clouds parted, and soft light spilled down from the sky, dispelling the darkness. The wild beasts were no longer restless, making people feel less oppressed.

Stars dotted the sky, shining brightly like pearls, embedded in the celestial tapestry.

“So much time has passed, the yellow ox shouldn’t be able to smell it anymore, right?” Chu Feng wondered as he approached Qingyang Town, almost home.

He decided to bribe the yellow ox!

“Boss, give me 150 beef skewers!” Entering the town, Chu Feng spotted the barbecue stall and strode towards it.

“No, only lamb skewers!” The young vendor looked at him, finding him odd. He had never sold beef skewers before. Was this person trying to cause trouble?

“My mistake, lamb skewers then, 150 of them.” Chu Feng furtively glanced towards the east of the town, in the direction of his home.

“No money, only grain!” the skewer vendor said firmly.

This was because strange phenomena were occurring everywhere now, roads were impassable, and people valued useful goods more than currency.

“We’re not very close, but we know each other. Go ahead and grill them for me; I’ll bring you the payment tomorrow,” Chu Feng said.

The skewer vendor readily agreed, as they were both from the same town, and he wasn’t worried about Chu Feng defaulting. He also knew Chu Feng to some extent.

“How long have these been frozen? They’re not spoiled, are they?” Chu Feng whispered.

The skewer vendor looked a bit guilty and said, “It should be fine.”

“Fine then!” Chu Feng patted his shoulder, acting magnanimous and generous, as if completely unafraid of getting sick from the food.

Finally, a large bag of grilled skewers was ready, seasoned with cumin, pepper, and other spices, emitting a delicious aroma.

“Don’t eat too much. If you get diarrhea, it’s not my responsibility!” the skewer vendor warned, a little worried.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. My stomach is exceptionally strong!” Chu Feng said nonchalantly, then looked at the freezer behind the vendor. “Get me a few bottles of beer too.”

“Alright!”

Finally, Chu Feng carried two large bags. Before even entering his house, he guzzled down beer, mainly worried that the yellow ox’s nose was too keen.

“Yellow Ox, look what I brought back for you!” Chu Feng shouted as soon as he entered the courtyard.

The yellow ox appeared, eyeing him suspiciously, always feeling that this guy was being unusually attentive. Then it saw the large bag of meat skewers in Chu Feng’s hand, and immediately looked disdainful, lifting its head with an expression of contempt.

“What do you mean by that? I kindly brought you food, and you’re still looking at me with such disdain,” Chu Feng retorted, glaring.

Upon hearing this, the yellow ox became indignant, scratching characters into the ground to question Chu Feng.

“You went to see a goddess and ate a French feast, and what did you bring back for me? Street food, cheap, inexpensive skewers, trying to fool *this* ox?!”

Then, white smoke began to billow from the yellow ox’s nostrils.

Chu Feng felt a pang of guilt and couldn’t help but inwardly grumble that this ox was becoming harder to fool. Ever since it learned to use the internet, it knew everything.

However, at this critical juncture, he could only bluff.

He said righteously, “What do you know? True delicacies are found in rural traditions. Those so-called high-class meals are just expensive ways to suffer; they don’t taste good at all. If you don’t believe me, try some!”

As he spoke, he prayed that he wouldn’t get diarrhea, then gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and started… chewing, exclaiming, “This truly is the most delicious food in the world!”

The yellow ox was suspicious, but seeing him look so immensely satisfied, it was immediately tempted, and indeed smelled the delicious aroma.

Finally, unable to resist the temptation, it leaned over, picked up two skewers with its hooves, and swallowed them in a few bites. Its eyes widened, and it let out a ‘moo’.

Chu Feng was startled and became very alert and cautious.

“All mine!” The yellow ox scratched these words onto the ground, then forcibly pushed Chu Feng aside, sat down, and began to devour the delicacies by itself.

“You rotten ox, you have no loyalty!” Chu Feng scolded.

“Moo, moo, moo!” The yellow ox mooed a few times, triumphantly gnawing on the skewers, its mouth dripping with grease.

In fact, the skewers tasted quite good; the vendor had excellent skills. If not for the concern that they might have been stored too long and cause indigestion, Chu Feng might have truly fought the yellow ox for them.

Knowing the truth, he didn’t dare risk it himself, so he handed all the skewers to the yellow ox, patted its shoulder, and said, “See? Aren’t I generous?”

The yellow ox extended a front hoof, shook it, and looked disdainful!

“You ungrateful ox!” Chu Feng grumbled, pouring beer into his mouth.

The yellow ox looked at the beer bottle in his hand, extended a hoof, and also wanted a bottle. But after taking just one sip, it suddenly spat it all out.

It glared. “What kind of terrible liquor is this?”

“What do you know? This is the best wine in the world, and it sells the best,” Chu Feng said.

The yellow ox grinned. It actually knew about Lafite and Romanée-Conti, and mocked Chu Feng for drinking the cheapest wine.

Chu Feng’s forehead furrowed with dark lines. He said, “I’m taking away your communicator later!”

He mumbled to himself, this damn ox had figured everything out through its communicator. How was he going to trick it in the future?

Finally, after eating over a hundred lamb skewers, the yellow ox was very satisfied. It lay sprawling on the rattan chair in the courtyard, looking up at the starry sky, appearing very content.

“Yellow Ox, come, take two pills,” Chu Feng said, walking over.

The yellow ox looked back at him, puzzled, with a perplexed expression.

“Diarrhea stopper. For dysentery and diarrhea, it works instantly. Take two pills as a precaution,” Chu Feng said with a guilty conscience.

“What does that mean? What’s going on?!” The yellow ox sprang up, staring fixedly at Chu Feng with its bovine eyes.

“Health supplement. Eating more is good for your body,” Chu Feng said shamelessly.

“Moo!”

The yellow ox was not stupid. After a moment’s thought, it immediately became enraged. As expected, it was street food; it had to take medicine right after eating skewers. This was outrageous! They were taking advantage of an ox too much!

It charged at Chu Feng, fighting desperately.

The place immediately erupted into chaos, a great commotion. It was unclear how long it took for things to quiet down.

The yellow ox, fuming, ran back to its room.

Chu Feng, grimacing, had taken several kicks from the ox’s hooves. Fortunately, his physique was exceptionally strong now, otherwise, he probably wouldn’t have been able to get up.

He headed to the bathroom for a hot shower. He had been constantly on the go today, traveling between the county town and Qingyang Town, and had just fought with the yellow ox. He was indeed a bit tired.

When Chu Feng entered his room, he was already drowsy. He didn’t even turn on the light, just collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep instantly.

“Wait!”

In an instant, he woke up, all sleepiness gone.

Why was it so soft?

And then, a muffled groan came from the bed, as if someone had been hit and was in pain.

Whoosh!

Chu Feng’s hair stood on end. There was someone on the bed. He darted backward with a whoosh, then flicked on the light with a click.

What was going on? He was dumbfounded!

Indeed, there was someone on the bed—a very beautiful woman. She seemed to have been woken by the impact, her brows furrowed, and she opened her eyes with a slight look of confusion.

“Who are you? Are you trying to assault me in the middle of the night?!”

This was Chu Feng’s voice, righteous and accusatory. He was a bit bewildered and wanted to gain the upper hand.

He certainly didn’t want to hear a woman, especially a beautiful one, screaming loudly in his room.

As he looked closely, Chu Feng’s heart skipped a beat. This woman was extraordinarily beautiful, appearing to be around twenty years old. She wore white clothes and white pants, her neat, smooth hair cascaded to her fair neck. Her features were sweet, youthful, and vibrant.

She was now fully awake and clearly no ordinary person. She remained very calm after this incident, her beautiful pupils alert as she carefully surveyed everything in the room, quickly regaining her composure.

She felt some pain at the back of her head, slightly frowned, and gently reached back to rub it. After a moment, she asked Chu Feng, “Did you knock me unconscious and bring me here?”

“When did that happen? If I had such intentions, would you still be unharmed?!” Chu Feng flatly denied it; he couldn’t take the blame for this.

“Why are you here?” the young woman asked. Although she seemed calm, she was actually a bit nervous after waking up and secretly checked herself over.

“I’d like to ask the same thing. When did you get in here? How did you end up in my bed, and what do you intend to do to me?” Chu Feng’s thick skin was one of his advantages, and he questioned her very calmly.

Upon hearing this, the beautiful woman’s eyebrows slightly raised. Was she really that pathetic? To be lectured like this by someone. But she held back and didn’t react.

“Wait a moment, I need to compose myself.”

Chu Feng hurriedly ran downstairs and burst into the yellow ox’s room.

“You rotten ox, what did you do?”

The yellow ox was still sulking. Upon seeing him, it almost lost its temper again, but Chu Feng managed to stop it.

“How did a woman get into my room? Did you… honor me with her presence?”

The yellow ox promptly raised a hoof, looking disdainful.

Finally, Chu Feng figured out what had happened.

In the evening, the yellow ox had gone to the orchard to bury its ‘treasure’. When it returned, it found a woman wandering in the area, and she was an ‘Other’.

It thought she might be looking for trouble with Chu Feng.

Because, ultimately, the woman did indeed walk towards Chu Feng’s courtyard.

As a result, without a word, it quietly approached her from behind, charged, and delivered two hooves to her, watching her eyes roll back as she collapsed to the ground.

“You really went for it with your hooves,” Chu Feng said, wincing.

The yellow ox grumbled inwardly, ‘You even killed a beautiful woman!’ It had already learned about Chu Feng’s trip to the county town while eating the skewers.

“And then you threw her into my room?” Chu Feng asked.

The yellow ox, uncharacteristically, looked embarrassed. In fact, it later discovered that other ‘Others’ had appeared, intending to stay in Qingyang Town overnight. It realized it had been overly concerned and had essentially knocked the woman unconscious for no reason.

“You caused trouble and threw her onto my bed?!” Chu Feng glared at it.

‘People communicate better with people!’ The yellow ox wrote this line, then extended a hoof, pointing towards the door, signaling Chu Feng to leave, and quickly!

Finally, Chu Feng reluctantly returned to his room, looking at the impossibly beautiful woman, genuinely feeling stunned by her.

By this time, the young, beautiful woman had fully adapted and was very calm, standing by the window, looking up at the starry sky.

Chu Feng really didn’t know how to explain. Who would believe that an ox had knocked her unconscious?

He couldn’t exactly drag the yellow ox over, could he? If word got out, it would likely cause a huge incident.

“Do you have anything to eat here?” the beautiful woman asked.

Chu Feng was surprised; it was unlike what he had imagined. She had no intention of reprimanding him, but was very composed, even asking him for food.

“Yes, there are some in the courtyard,” Chu Feng said, referring to the remaining skewers.

The woman smiled faintly, truly sweet and even more beautiful than before. She said, “You’re not an ‘Other’?”

“That’s right!” Chu Feng nodded.

“It was an extraordinary beast that ambushed me. I felt it at the last moment; it’s very strong and dangerous.” The woman’s words relieved Chu Feng; at least she wouldn’t blame him.

“You keep an extraordinary beast?” she asked softly, with a gentle smile, her large eyes curved, and the corners of her mouth slightly upturned, observing his reaction.

“No such thing!” Chu Feng flatly denied.

As they spoke, they arrived in the courtyard. The woman frowned slightly, clearly unaccustomed to eating such street food, but she seemed truly hungry and finally picked up a skewer.

She ate very delicately and elegantly. Even while eating a lamb skewer, her demeanor remained refined. Chu Feng guessed that she must come from an extraordinary family; he could subtly perceive that she consistently maintained a certain decorum and etiquette.

After eating a little, the woman took out a communicator, looked at it with a slight frown, and then began sending messages continuously.

“Alright, I should leave now. I’ve been gone for so long; they’re very worried. In the future, I will come back to settle accounts with that extraordinary beast!” the woman said. Finally, she ascended into the air, a pair of luminous wings appearing on her back, emitting a snowy white glow. She hovered mid-air, like a pure deity, ethereal and elegant.

Her hair, cascading to her fair neck, was swept up by the wind. Her bright eyes were full of spirit. Her white clothes and white pants made her appear even more unstained by dust, creating the illusion that this woman was not of the mortal world.

“Wait a moment,” Chu Feng called out.

The young woman turned her head. She was extraordinarily beautiful, and now so ethereal. With a slight smile, her entire being glowed with a soft, mystical radiance in mid-air.

“What is it?” she asked softly.

“Here, this is for you!” Chu Feng tossed a bottle into the air.

“What is this?” The woman, puzzled, caught it. A bewildered look crossed her beautiful face as the snowy white wings behind her emitted a sacred glow.

“Diarrhea stopper!” Chu Feng informed her.

Upon hearing this, the young woman in white trembled slightly. Though her features were very sweet, a hint of fierce light couldn’t help but appear in her eyes. Ignoring Chu Feng, she flapped her luminous wings and soared into the sky.

“Don’t throw it away! Make sure to keep it!” Chu Feng shouted after her.

Mid-air, the woman paused briefly. It was clear she was trying to restrain something, and then she vanished in an instant.

Soon after, she rendezvoused with some other ‘Others’.

“Thank heavens! We couldn’t reach you and thought the people from Heavenly God Biotech had set up an ambush and jointly attacked you.”

“You’ve finally appeared!”

Some people seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
