Chapter 169: Running Away

When danger approached, Chu Feng, the Yellow Ox, and the Black Ox all awoke from their deep slumber. Their muscles involuntarily tensed, and a shiver ran down their spines, causing goosebumps.

“Let’s go!”

Chu Feng tore open the cabin with his bare hands, pulling the Black Ox with him as they jumped out. The Yellow Ox followed closely behind.

“I don’t have wings!” the Black Ox shrieked. He couldn't fly, and as soon as he opened his mouth, he was hit by a strong wind, his lungs filling with frigid air.

After they jumped, a violent explosion roared above them. The entire large passenger plane disintegrated, turning into a massive fireball.

Even from the ground, the dazzling blaze was visible!

This was a deliberate air disaster. A missile had struck the plane’s fuel tank, causing it to explode instantly into a sea of fire. The intense heat was terrifying.

After disintegrating, the plane actually melted away.

A mushroom cloud bloomed from that spot, infinitely terrifying and horrifying, distorting the entire sky.

Blazing light and an astonishing mushroom cloud erupted there, sweeping in all directions!

Chu Feng and his companions had been alerted beforehand and ripped open the cabin to escape immediately. Yet, they were still affected as a terrifying, tsunami-like impact slammed down from above.

All three groaned simultaneously, nearly engulfed by the blazing light. The missile had actually carried a nuclear warhead, specifically designed to eliminate King-level beings.

The wind howled as Chu Feng and the two oxen plummeted to the ground, feeling disoriented.

Although they were far from the epicenter, they were still affected by the nuclear blast. All three coughed up blood, and their bodies sustained burns.

“We almost died!” the Yellow Ox exclaimed, heart pounding, as he looked back at the sky where the blazing light still surged and the mushroom cloud continued to rage!

“I get seasick, airsick, sky-sick, and I can’t fly!” the Black Ox wailed, rambling incoherently. He was truly panicking; even as strong as he was, falling from such a height would mean certain death, turning him into a pile of pulp.

Chu Feng shook his head, finally regaining full consciousness. He had been significantly affected by the impact and was still a bit dazed.

He had been clutching the enormous package to his chest, expending considerable mysterious energy to protect it, fearing it would break apart and scatter the red crystals everywhere.

Fortunately, it was the old weasel skin from Panshan Ancestor, a beast-king level material, naturally tough and undamaged.

This was the “Cosmic Bag” Chu Feng had specially prepared before coming to the West, intended for storing valuable items.

Fully recovered, he began to use his mental martial arts, shifting his body horizontally and once again grabbing the Black Ox.

At the same time, he looked at the Yellow Ox and asked, “Can you manage?”

“So-so, I can still control myself,” the Yellow Ox replied.

After Chu Feng arrived at Kunlun, he had lent the crimson flying sword to the Yellow Ox, allowing it to study the sword-controlling technique within.

The Yellow Ox was very talented, possessing extremely strong spiritual power, and ultimately inherited the technique.

However, according to the Yellow Ox, as long as a special breathing technique was cultivated to a certain level, one could also control a sword!

This was because the breathing technique not only targeted the physical body but also allowed the spirit to “breathe,” offering infinite subtle uses. Currently, they were only in the initial stages!

The Black Ox's spiritual power was average, but his physical strength was astonishing. He wasn't suited for mental martial arts; he was on the path of physical sanctification, which was why he was most terrified right now.

“Don’t worry, we won’t die,” Chu Feng chuckled, rarely seeing the Black Ox so nervous, clutching his arm and refusing to let go.

Their descent speed was decreasing; the wind no longer whistled so loudly past their ears.

Making Chu Feng and the Yellow Ox truly fly was too difficult, but controlling themselves to hover in the air was no problem.

Finally, as they neared the mountainous terrain below, their speed slowed considerably, making the Black Ox let out a long sigh of relief. He swore he would never take a plane again!

Because at such critical moments, life and death were completely beyond his control.

Finally, they landed safely. This area was coastal, in southeastern Italy; crossing the strait would take them to Greece.

To return to the East, they had to take the shortcut through Greece, which led directly to the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang.

But now they had been shot down.

“What’s going on? I’m feeling sleepy again, really want to lie down and sleep soundly right now,” the Black Ox wondered suspiciously. Had the recent nuclear blast affected them?

Logically, King-level beings were fearless of such radiation. As long as they weren't subjected to the terrifying temperatures at the nuclear blast's epicenter, peripheral radiation and the like could hardly kill them.

“I’m also drowsy!” Chu Feng said.

This was similar to when they boarded the plane; they had fallen asleep soon after, otherwise, they wouldn't have been so slow to realize the danger approaching when the missile was about to hit.

“That colorful small tree is problematic. The pollen we absorbed has very strong side effects,” the Yellow Ox said, his expression serious.

Currently, they truly couldn’t hold on. Unless they continuously stimulated their minds, they would soon fall into a coma.

At the same time, they felt their bodies heating up, their blood boiling and surging within them.

“This is not good. This is the terrible side effect of the blood medicine,” the Yellow Ox’s expression grew increasingly grim.

Then, as if remembering something, it exclaimed, “I was careless! Oh my god, we missed out on something good – that was the Myriad Spirit Blood Medicine!”

“What’s going on? I’m about to fall asleep!” the Black Ox said, his eyes unfocused.

“Quick, let’s go find a cave or a grotto. We need to hide, don’t expose ourselves,” Chu Feng said.

Even nuclear missiles had been launched at them, so it was imaginable how immense Schiller’s power at the Vatican was. It was hard to say what other methods he might employ later!

Along the way, the Yellow Ox was filled with regret, sighing, “We should have cut down that little tree and brought it back!”

According to him, while the flower buds were indeed extraordinary, they weren’t as potent as the small tree itself, which was the true essence, having absorbed various spiritual blood.

“The books recorded many methods for ripening exotic tree fruits, many of which involved watering them with spiritual blood, which is very cruel and evil. I thought of all of them, but I overlooked the Myriad Spirit Blood Medicine. Schiller must possess this secret method.”

The flower buds they consumed had side effects: drowsiness and fatigue were among the milder ones; in severe cases, it could even threaten their lives.

“Schiller is ruthless. These flower buds can indeed help King-level beings evolve, but they also weaken one in the short term, making them suffer the backlash of the blood medicine. I estimate he prepared these for the Black Dragon King and the Arctic King,” the Yellow Ox said.

Once those two powerful beings fell into such a terrible state, Schiller could easily kill them!

“Will our bodies have problems?” Chu Feng frowned.

“If we endure, there will be many benefits, enabling super evolution, even a more powerful physique than that enhanced by other flower buds. But if we can’t endure, we’ll simply die in vain,” the Yellow Ox said.

The flower buds and fruits of the Myriad Spirit Blood Medicine concentrated the most domineering substances, essentially purifying the small tree. Once the buds and fruits detached, the small tree would become perfectly balanced and naturally flawless.

“Damn it, we ate the dregs?” the Black Ox fumed.

“Not dregs, just that the effect is too overbearing. Fortunately, these were just flower buds; we picked them right as they started growing, so we can endure. And in their initial stage, they mainly concentrated vitality, which is highly beneficial to us.” Then, the Yellow Ox added, gloating, “After five flower buds fall off, the small tree can no longer be purified. At that point, the Myriad Spirit Blood Medicine will surely have terrible side effects. I wonder if Schiller would dare to consume it; he’d risk death at any moment.”

“No, I can’t hold on,” the Black Ox said just before collapsing to the ground with a thud, snoring loudly.

Next, the Yellow Ox also couldn't resist and lay down on the grass.

Chu Feng was relatively better off because he had only consumed one flower bud. He dragged the two oxen and ran quickly.

Eventually, he reached the seashore and buried both of them in the sand, leaving only their mouths and noses exposed.

Then, he also burrowed into the sand and slept profoundly.

If they could have continued their journey, they would never have fallen into a deep sleep here. It was simply that the side effects of the flower buds were too severe, making it impossible to resist the drowsiness.

Of course, the benefits were also significant. If they truly endured to the end, their bodies would inevitably transform and become even stronger.

Chu Feng slept very soundly. He didn’t know how much time had passed when he was suddenly awakened, sensing danger approaching, but the two oxen were still asleep.

Even as crisis loomed, they hadn’t revived, which showed how potent the negative effects of consuming two flower buds were on them!

“Wake up!”

Chu Feng pushed them awake, as his bad premonition grew stronger and stronger.

The two oxen were groggy and disoriented.

“Go, get into the sea, hide!” Chu Feng hoisted them and plunged directly into the ocean.

The ocean was dangerous due to its many creatures, but Chu Feng couldn't worry about that now; they needed to enter the sea to evade the crisis.

As the salty seawater entered their mouths and noses, the two oxen instantly sobered up, nearly coughing it out.

“Shh, don’t make a sound, it’s very dangerous nearby!” Chu Feng warned. At his signal, all three submerged to the seabed, moving stealthily underwater.

At their level, it was natural for them to hold their breath for a long time.

“Boom!”

Soon after they left, the area erupted in blazing fire and was struck by an attack. Although it wasn't a nuclear missile, it was a super missile powerful enough to kill King-level beings.

Tidal waves surged along the entire coastline!

Not only the spot where they had been, but also nearby mountainous areas, saw fire streaking across, a terrifying sight.

“What’s happening? Has a world war broken out? Are they crazy?” the Black Ox exclaimed, eyes wide, now fully awake.

“Schiller has deliberately gone mad, and the Arctic King and Black Dragon King must truly be enraged,” Chu Feng said.

Vatican, Holy Medicine Garden.

The Black Dragon King and the Arctic King erupted in thunderous rage, practically insane. After expending so much effort, even risking enmity with various races and killing numerous King-level beings, it had all amounted to nothing?

The flower buds were stolen, their fortune snatched away mid-journey; nothing was left.

“Old man, you didn’t keep it all for yourself, did you?!” the Arctic King demanded angrily.

“The flower buds haven’t even bloomed. Am I that foolish, to pick them prematurely?!” Schiller’s expression was unpredictable.

He added, “Besides, Red Scale and the others were guarding here; they know who did it.”

“Is that true?” the Black Dragon King asked.

“It was very likely stolen by Chu Feng,” Red Scale replied.

“A mere human boy, daring to touch my precious medicine! I’ll tear him to shreds!” the Black Dragon King roared in fury.

“Augustus ordered more than a dozen planes to be shot down and is currently confirming who escaped,” Schiller said.

He also stated that if they could catch the person who stole the flower buds, consuming their flesh and blood immediately would still be effective; if too much time passed, the flower buds would already have been refined.

“Augustus confirmed that it was likely Chu Feng from the East who escaped. Their traces were found at the airport.”

In fact, when someone reported to the Vatican, Augustus had already used his influence to get a batch of missiles launched from Europe.

He was a King-level expert among Western humans, with immense power.

That was why Chu Feng and his companions were attacked by missiles on that coastline.

“Too bad I’m injured and can’t go there!” the Arctic King said, his voice frigid. In his attempt to kill that peerless master who had broken six restraints, he had paid a significant price from the opponent's dying counterattack.

The Black Dragon King was in a similar state; one of his wings was nearly severed, preventing him from long-distance flight. Moreover, he hadn't managed to bring back the undying Phoenix King’s head, which further worsened his mood.

Schiller said, “Ovid and the others have already set off. Even if they can’t kill Chu Feng, they can track him all the way and find clues to his whereabouts. We can rest for now and send more people to search for Chu Feng.”

Throughout the night, Chu Feng and his companions were crossing the sea. When they were too tired, they slept; when they were slightly awake, they continued swimming.

Fortunately, they didn't encounter any terrifying creatures in the sea.

“Oh, I forgot, this is the Mediterranean Sea; there aren't many terrifying species here,” Chu Feng said, which made the two oxen breathe a sigh of relief.

However, later that night, they suddenly encountered trouble. A colossal black creature charged wildly from the ocean depths, aiming to tear them apart.

“What kind of monster is this?”

It was a monstrous beast whose species was indistinguishable; its body was fish-like, but it had sharp claws.

“Boom!”

A fierce battle erupted. Chu Feng and his companions proactively charged down, striking first.

This was a King-level monster.

The battle was intense, but eventually, the monster was subdued. Even though the water was its home ground, it was no match, as it faced three Kings.

“I am a sea fish,” it told them, explaining that it had once eaten many glowing plants at the bottom of the sea, which led to continuous transformations.

Chu Feng and the others sighed. The seabed indeed held countless treasures, and this was only the Mediterranean, which was relatively barren compared to the abundant open oceans.

“Go, take us to Greece!” Chu Feng commanded it.

They could only communicate with it mentally; the monster couldn't speak human language.

Massive white waves surged. The next moment, they rode the wind and waves, moving much faster, crossing the strait to reach Greece.

The Black Ox and Yellow Ox immediately lay down on the sea beast and fell asleep. Chu Feng also drowsily slumped onto it and slept.

It took them a full three days to successfully cross the strait because the strait was now much wider than before, and traveling underwater was far slower than through the air.

Even then, all three were still somewhat drowsy.

However, they finally sighted land!

What was happening in the outside world? They had no idea, but presumably, it had already erupted. For now, returning to the East alive was their top priority.
