Chapter 1081: Question and Answer

Chu Feng handed the drift bottle, which appeared ordinary and grayish on the outside but was lustrous on the inside with a wisp of spiritual imprint, to the Nine-Nether Entity.

"This question is a bit difficult, and also quite profound," Chu Feng said. "Come on, Old Nine, take a look with me."

In truth, he could answer parts of it himself. He was a bodily reincarnator, possibly the only successful one, and thus understood certain things very well.

However, the concept of species reincarnation and the entire cosmos' cycle of rebirth and transmigration was too vast and frightening for him to answer at his current level.

The Nine-Nether Entity examined it repeatedly. When its elder brother had unexpectedly passed away, it hadn't even managed to get a single reincarnation talisman before fleeing in haste, ultimately choosing to entomb itself in a celestial gold stone coffin. Asking it about reincarnation would certainly not reveal the ultimate secrets.

"Just answer simply," the Nine-Nether Entity said.

Chu Feng nodded, realizing there was no need to answer everything. He wrote: "In different timelines, there may appear one or more individuals similar to oneself; perhaps they are a recreation of history, or a derivation of the future."

With a splash, Chu Feng tossed the drift bottle back into the lake, causing blue light to scatter and ripples to spread rapidly.

"It seems there was no mention of a reward?!" he suddenly recalled after throwing it, realizing no bounty had been specified.

The Nine-Nether Entity was also momentarily stunned, then said, "I just had a feeling that the drift bottle's design was ancient and special. Sure enough, this is a bottle sent by an extremely high-level old monster. They wouldn't bother to renege on a debt or even write down the reward in advance. If the answer is satisfactory, a generous bounty will naturally be given."

Just as it finished speaking, the water in the lake rippled, and the grayish drift bottle returned, automatically bouncing out.

"Oh, is it bringing me a reward?" Chu Feng was surprised. Wasn't this a historically ancient drift bottle, possibly from millennia ago? How could it receive such a prompt response? It was utterly bizarre.

The Nine-Nether Entity's expression immediately turned serious. "This old monster has an extraordinary background!" it said.

Such a figure wouldn't be waiting by the lake. This bottle had been cast millennia ago. The fact that it could respond so quickly could only mean he was a distinguished guest of the Gray Transaction Zone!

Precisely for this reason, after Chu Feng answered the question, the Gray Transaction Zone immediately used a large-scale teleportation formation to send the bottle away and notify that esteemed being.

And the old monster's ability to respond promptly indicated that his physical condition was excellent; he hadn't fallen into slumber or entered a death-like seclusion. This made him even more formidable.

The Nine-Nether Entity was remarkably insightful, able to glean and deduce so much valuable information from a single detail, which impressed and moved Chu Feng.

"Go on, open it and see," the Nine-Nether Entity urged. "Perhaps it's an evolver who survived from my era. Even if they were young then, by now they would certainly be powerful beings, even grand ancestors!"

The Nine-Nether Entity felt a pang of melancholy. If it had been able to survive intact from that era until now, its achievements would naturally be immense.

Chu Feng picked up the bottle, opened it directly, and poured out a ring. It was rough, dark, and utterly devoid of luster.

"What is this? It looks like it's been polished from some kind of beast horn."

Chu Feng examined it from all angles. It had no special features; injecting energy into it produced no light, and even forceful squeezing couldn't damage it.

The Nine-Nether Entity was more direct. It suctioned the ring onto its coffin and carefully sensed it, but still couldn't determine its material.

It nodded and said, "Keep it. It should be a good item, most likely a horn from some kind of exotic desolate beast."

Exotic desolate beasts were species and groups even more formidable than divine beasts, rarely found in the world. Their horns and other parts possessed special properties unknown to ordinary people.

Chu Feng said, "There's a message in the bottle."

At the bottom of the grayish bottle, there was a line of energy imprint, spelling out: "If you recognize this ring, you may respond. If not, consider it a gift to a fated individual."

"Oh, so formal. Does this ring have a greater origin than I imagined?" the Nine-Nether Entity wondered, surprised.

Then, it exerted all its might to suction the ring onto its coffin lid, and a thick blood mist steamed from the coffin, all converging towards the rough black ring.

Soon, the stone coffin trembled, startling the Nine-Nether Entity, and Chu Feng too. They felt an aura of reincarnation emanating from the ring, washing over them.

"This thing... has quite a background, and it's very strange. Although I haven't experienced reincarnation myself, I've seen it before and recognize this kind of energy!" The Nine-Nether Entity felt the situation was serious.

It believed the issue was significant and troubling, expressing some concern. "Could someone have deliberately released this?"

It immediately suspected reincarnation hunters. Could this be a trap, bait laid out by someone over a long period?

The Nine-Nether Entity even suggested throwing it back into the lake and letting it be, so as not to stir up trouble, because it felt the ring was too ominous. The aura of reincarnation it had just emitted was too potent and terrifying.

"It's no weaker than the reincarnation aura contained within your soul-flesh."

"Whether it's bait or a genuine gift, now that it's in my hands, do they expect me to return it? No way!"

As Chu Feng spoke, he put the ring away, quietly placing it inside the stone jar, ensuring it was completely isolated from the outside. He didn't believe anyone could sense anything inside the jar.

"I'll keep it for later, to study slowly!"

In fact, the moment Chu Feng dropped the ring into the stone jar, he felt a slight abnormality: a blurry, terrifying, and bizarre scene appeared before him.

He quickly sealed the stone jar. His heart pounded fiercely; this item truly had an extraordinary origin, possibly related to reincarnation?!

However, now was not the time for deep investigation. His physical body and soul light could not disappear into the jar in front of the Nine-Nether Entity.

"Old Nine, I care about you, and the question I asked for you has been answered." Chu Feng picked up another bottle, opened it, and read.

Inside the bottle was a method for creatures like the Nine-Nether Entity to evolve. There were only two lines of text, very concise, yet achieving them was incredibly difficult.

"Nourish it with corpses aged for a hundred million years to strengthen its body and soul; cultivate it with lightning essence to remove its malevolence."

After reading, the Nine-Nether Entity was speechless.

If there truly were corpses aged for a hundred million years, they would have probably developed sentience and consciousness long ago, becoming unimaginably powerful. At that point, it would be hard to say who would be eating whom.

Moreover, it couldn't bring itself to eat them. Although it was in its current state, it considered itself different from ordinary Nine-Nether Entities; it believed it had ideals, class, pre-existence consciousness, and morals. How could it eat rotten corpses?!

Listening to its whining about being a sacred Nine-Nether Entity unlike others, Chu Feng immediately curled his lip and said, "Oh, come on, you even eat living people, and you care about corpses?!"

"That was absorbing vital blood essence, refining life energy, it's different!" the Nine-Nether Entity retorted.

However, its stubbornness didn't last long before it quietly asked, "Why don't you ask where these hundred-million-year-old corpses can be found? Of course, I'm just asking out of curiosity, definitely not to eat them. Also, ask for clear details; safety first, so I don't accidentally wander in and get eaten by the corpses instead!"

"So dramatic!" Chu Feng exclaimed, then with a coarse and unrestrained motion, he swung his Skyblood Starfield Mother Gold Dagger, decisively hacking a small piece of celestial gold stone from the coffin. He then, with lightning speed, stuffed it into the drift bottle, asked another question, and tossed it back into the lake.

This series of actions was executed in one fluid motion, so fast that it was completed before the Nine-Nether Entity could react.

Only then did the Nine-Nether Entity stomp its foot, angrily exclaiming, "You—"

"Quiet, look, there's an immediate response!" Chu Feng snatched the bottle from the lake, examined it, and said, "Old Nine, it seems I'm your true elder brother from now on. Stick with me."

"What are you talking about!" The Nine-Nether Entity glanced over, learned where the so-called hundred-million-year-old corpses could be found, and its expression immediately darkened.

In truth, it was as it had imagined: could rotting corpses that had existed for a hundred million years be ordinary? They certainly had extraordinary origins, and indeed, they did.

Where else could they be, other than beneath the famous mountains and great rivers of the Yang Realm?

Only in places where the most powerful evolvers resided would such rotting corpses exist. Yet, no matter how strong they were, their life force would eventually extinguish over long ages, leaving behind terrifying remains.

"You know, even though I, Ji Dade, am only a few years old, I'm already a master of spatial formations. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to easily throw you into the netherworld beneath the Gourd Sky-Pit."

The Nine-Nether Entity looked at his shameless, coaxing smile, clearly trying to trick it into becoming his subordinate, and truly wished it could punch him!

"Later, we'll find a famous mountain or great river as our target. I'll seclude myself there for over a decade, and you can chew on corpses underground when you're bored. Crunchy, tastes like chicken..."
