“Was that Lin Nuoyi’s child? The aura was similar, and upon closer inspection, the bright, beautiful eyes and curved eyebrows bore familiar traces.”
“Alas, you were born before I was; I was born when you were already old!” Chu Feng sighed dramatically, looking up at the sky, then fixed his gaze on the graceful female Heavenly Venerate.
Many people turned their heads, somewhat astonished, to look at Chu Feng.
Soon after, several people exchanged odd glances, as if to say, “Has this kid lost his mind? What on earth is he talking about?”
“What on earth are you blabbering about?!” Dong Qing whispered, scolding him.
She had followed Chu Feng’s gaze and seen him staring at the female Heavenly Venerate, having just uttered those suggestive words.
Many faces twitched slightly, as people struggled to suppress their reactions. They knew a group of young prodigies had arrived today, and they couldn’t be judged by ordinary standards.
Still, they thought, wasn’t this child a bit too precocious? What was he even thinking?!
Even the beautiful female Heavenly Venerate, though maintaining a detached expression, showed an involuntary twitch at the corner of her eyes and eyebrows.
Chu Feng quickly realized his predicament. This felt like being kissed by a bear – what was happening? He was looking at the little girl who strongly resembled Lin Nuoyi, wasn't he? What was with everyone's expressions?
But even if he explained, who would believe him? After he’d uttered those suggestive words and gazed in that direction, no one thought he was looking at a little girl; they all assumed he was staring at the female Heavenly Venerate.
“Child, your courage is truly commendable,” an old man riding a crow appeared, laughing heartily. In his arms, a plump boy was also grinning, clearly amused by Chu Feng.
Oh, for goodness sake! Chu Feng felt incredibly wronged. He hadn’t been looking at the female Heavenly Venerate! He instantly shot a murderous glare.
That old rascal on the crow was simply insufferable. There's a saying about knowing the truth but not exposing it; who reveals someone's sensitive spots to their face? Chu Feng loathed him. Besides, he felt even more wronged than Dou E – he hadn't been thinking about that female Heavenly Venerate at all.
“Old Crow, do you want to be flayed?!” the female Heavenly Venerate lightly reprimanded.
As her gaze swept over Chu Feng, the divine statue on Dong Qing’s person glowed, and the young lady’s Dharma-form rippled, protecting the immediate vicinity.
Otherwise, Dong Qing was certain Chu Feng would have met with misfortune; what good could come from being struck by a Heavenly Venerate’s gaze?
“Haha, Heavenly Venerate Yi, I wasn’t targeting you,” the old man chuckled, half-perched on the foot-long black crow. “I just find this child incredibly interesting, with astonishing courage and immense audacity!”
“Old man, if you bully me again, I’ll beat up your chubby son once we enter the Dragon’s Lair!” Chu Feng yelled, his small face twitching. If he didn’t say something soon, he’d be thoroughly humiliated.
The old man on the crow froze, even more exasperated than Chu Feng himself.
Blast!
The wrinkles on the old man’s face twitched; he truly wanted to spit blood at Chu Feng. ‘Does this kid even know how to talk?’ he fumed. ‘A Heavenly Venerate of such an age having a child? It’d be impressive enough if they had grandchildren! Throughout history, very few beings at the Heavenly Venerate realm could still produce offspring. It’s incredibly difficult to bear descendants after evolving to this level!’
“Heh heh!” In the distance, several people chuckled.
Even the female Heavenly Venerate of the Yi clan showed a faint smile, her mood slightly improved.
“Little rascal, just you wait until this old man gives you a thrashing! How dare you insult me!” the old man riding the crow shouted.
Simultaneously, the chubby boy in his arms, clad in a beast-hide vest, also retorted, “You lecherous kid, once we’re in the Dragon’s Lair, I’ll feed you to the dragon cubs first!”
Chu Feng glanced at the old crow, pursed his lips, and didn't challenge him further; after all, he was a Heavenly Venerate. To the chubby boy, however, he offered a smirk and said, “Pale Fatty, for your father’s sake, I’ll overlook it for now. We’ll have a proper discussion once we’re in the Dragon’s Lair.”
“Caw! Caw!” The crow beneath the old man’s rear squawked, squeezed by him. Being referred to again as the fat kid’s father left him utterly mortified.
“Don’t be rude,” Dong Qing interjected, timely and in her usual style, hitting Chu Feng on the head with her basin-sized fist, a clear show of force.
“This brave one is sensible,” the old man on the crow nodded, smiling. “A mischievous child like this certainly needs a good beating; if it were me, I’d make him howl like a ghost!”
Chu Feng glared at him, then turned back to Dong Qing. “Sister Dong Qing, this is intolerable! What kind of eyesight does that old geezer have? Can’t he tell you’re a celestial maiden?!”
Around them, several faces twitched slightly at such blatant flattery and public complaint.
“This child is simply mischievous,” an old woman, who had been accompanying the Temple Fairy, appeared at that moment, standing beside Dong Qing. She nodded and smiled at the old man on the crow, then grabbed Chu Feng’s ear and tugged it repeatedly.
The old man returned her smile, saying, “It’s fine. Although the little fellow is a bit weak, his innate talent is good, and his confidence is strong. His future path should be quite extraordinary.”
Chu Feng clutched his ear. “Alright, alright, everything’s fine now, Granny, please let go quickly. Who hasn’t had a rebellious phase in their youth? Look, that chubby kid opposite is still glaring at me, even more defiant. And that kid riding the dog, he’s jealous of me, watching me without blinking, full of envy, admiration, and resentment.”
