Chapter 569: 称水陵

Ink and Brush Literature, Xuanjian Immortal Clan!

Chengshui Ridge.

Chengshui Ridge had low mountains, and most of its areas were flat. Dark grey forests stretched out, half-hidden in the heavy mist, appearing both tranquil and eerie.

Within this mist, three figures were concealed. The leader, with an old, slightly pale face, quietly stared at the forest ahead. Beside him stood two young men: one, in white robes, held a fan, exuding elegance; the other had a generous and benevolent appearance, dressed in sea-blue clothing.

Li Xizhi, hidden in the clouds, watched as the old man beside him stroked his beard and spoke in a deep voice:"Xizhi, why has Tang Shendu still not made a move?""Perhaps he's waiting for the other divisions."

Li Xizhi replied casually. His current condition was far from good; his face was still somewhat pale, and although his spiritual power was abundant, it subtly agitated his injuries, making him feel unsteady. He had taken three Huiqiu Pills consecutively, sacrificing over ten years of his lifespan. He should have remained in secluded cultivation for at least two to three years to fully recover from his injuries; to be cautious, five years of seclusion would have been necessary. Yet, after only a little over half a year, he was required to emerge and face the enemy. No wonder his spiritual power felt unstable. If the Huiqiu Pills hadn't been provided by the Yang family but were ordinary spiritual stimulating elixirs, he would have already developed a permanent ailment by now.

However, no matter what had happened before, Baixiang Valley was lost. Orders from Bianyan Mountain quickly arrived, summoning most cultivators to Chengshui Ridge. Not only Li Xizhi, but also Yu Yuwei and Li Quantao had all gathered.

Li Quantao, upon hearing his words, gave a peculiar smile and simply said:"Tang Shendu, I don't know what he's thinking, placing us three in such an out-of-the-way spot... I originally thought he would keep Brother Zhi under his watchful eye, sending him to the area with the most demonic cultivators, so that something 'unexpected' might happen..."

Yu Yuwei stroked his beard without speaking, but Li Xizhi understood in his heart:'Tang Shendu is currently racking his brains trying to figure out how to escape with his life... How could he have time to harm me? He's probably afraid that harming me would incite my family's wrath, causing them to directly seek out a True Immortal to settle old and new scores, perhaps striking him into ashes with a single palm... and I doubt anyone would dare to say anything.' After all, Tang Shendu currently had no powerful backing. The relationship between True Immortal Yuan Xiu and True Immortal Yuan Wu was already strained, so it was unlikely Yuan Xiu would intervene on his behalf. Besides that, who else in Qingchi would dare to speak up? This could be considered a blessing in disguise. The three of them could stick together, and as long as they didn't encounter a direct descendant of the Murong family, their personal safety would be assured.

As the three remained silent, a white light suddenly shot skyward from not far away. The tokens at their waists instantly flared, and a thunderous roar echoed through the air, rolling toward them:"Boom!""How bold!"

A roar erupted, and the black clouds in the sky swirled like a vortex. A surge of demonic energy burst from the earth, trailing dense black mists across the sky, encompassing everything. Then, a piercing shriek was heard:"Qingchi rats... I hadn't even come looking for you, yet you deliver yourselves to my doorstep!"

Li Xizhi and the others exchanged glances and simultaneously soared into the air. They saw Tang Shendu, his spiritual armor gleaming, pointing directly into the depths of the demonic clouds. Six bright white long branches emerged in the sky, flying back and forth around the white light emanating from his body. He swept his long halberd, clearing away the demonic clouds before him. His entire body radiated dazzling white light as he coldly stated:"I am Tang Shendu, here to seek a challenge!"

Tang Shendu was an experienced cultivator, famous for many years. His cultivation techniques and halberd mastery were formidable. With a single strike, he instantly shattered most of the demonic clouds in the sky, scattering them everywhere.

Below, the three each chose a demonic cultivator to fight. Their figures remained close, enabling mutual support. The demonic cultivator facing Li Xizhi wielded an axe, was clad in black scaled spiritual armor, had slightly red eyes, and exuded a dense demonic aura. Such a demonic cultivator was naturally incomparable to Tuoba Zhongyuan's half-immortal, half-demon appearance. This one emitted dense black demonic energy, unrefined and crude, clearly having been rapidly promoted. Unlike a subordinate of the Murong family, this was likely a conscripted miscellaneous demon. The two clearly deliberately left this demonic cultivator for him.

He advanced with his sword, and his rainbow light scattered the demonic cultivator's spell. His breath hitched slightly, realizing the opponent's strength was higher than he had anticipated. He mused:'This demonic cultivator's cultivation technique isn't strong, but his axe mastery has some substance...'

He subtly formed a hand seal, activating Golden Descent in the Clouds. It transformed into several flickering golden lights that leaped from in front of the demonic cultivator, reappearing behind him. His long sword jumped into his hand, and he drew it:"Moonfall Sword Arc!"

With one strike, he severed the opponent's head. Golden Descent in the Clouds flickered again, allowing him to evade the opponent's spell and land on the other side. He fully activated Long Haze Mist, catching his breath as he formed a new hand seal:"Morning Rainbow!"

The demonic cultivator's head flew off his neck, showing little expression. His lower body levitated and took a step to pursue the head, attempting to reattach it twice in mid-air, but both times it slipped, failing to connect. He had to stop and awkwardly reattach his head with both hands, a sight that filled Li Xizhi with some regret:'It's a pity that I've focused on cultivating spells for so long that my sword mastery has fallen too far behind. Otherwise, if I had capitalized on his carelessness with that sword strike, preventing him from reattaching his head, I could have secured victory early.'

"Boom!"

The rainbow light in his hand had already shot out, but a thunderous blast erupted in Li Xizhi's ears, causing his heart to seize and almost making him lose his bearings. He gritted his teeth and looked up. He saw a white light ascending into the sky, transforming into a human head the size of a small mountain, with sparse eyebrows, large eyes, and a wide, gaping mouth, roaring in mid-air.

'A human head from within the Murong family...'

He paused for a moment, but his spell did not cease. The demonic cultivator opposite him was in a more pathetic state; stunned by the sound, he was a fraction of a second too slow, and Li Xizhi's rainbow light pierced through his chest, erupting into a vibrant, multi-colored rainbow flame. Li Xizhi, of course, couldn't miss this opportunity. He pressed his advantage, continuing to cast spells. Then, a very faint hum resonated in his ears again, followed by a brilliant golden flash across the sky. The human head in the sky, however, shrieked terribly, exclaiming in terror:"You...! Ah... You've come too! What a... what a magnificent immortal bow!"

Upon hearing these words, Li Xizhi's heart immediately settled, as if he had found his confidence:"The esteemed elders have arrived! It seems Qingchi has deployed its full force this time... Perhaps Golden Feather is also assisting."

With that, he pressed a beam of rainbow light onto the chest of the figure before him, causing the demonic body to tremble and suffer severe vital energy damage. However, he then saw surging demonic flames once again erupting from the ground, and the situation in the sky seemed to be changing again. Li Xizhi didn't have time to look closely. From the demonic clouds to his left and right, two more figures flew out, one from each side, closing in on him. Before their spells even reached him, Li Xizhi already felt a stinging pain on his face. He had no choice but to release the person in his grasp, draw his sword to defend, and unleash a swathe of rainbow light, shattering the two incoming spells. His strike was too hasty and aggravated his injuries, forcing him to briefly pause to regulate his breath. The two opponents, being demonic cultivators from the northern battlegrounds, were sharp-eyed. They exchanged glances and simultaneously activated their magic tools, attacking him.
