Chapter 599: Grateful and Thoughtful

"Mu'er, let me see your eye." Granny Si stared at his eye for a moment, finding no trace of Boundless Rokh within it. She then used a mirror to check, and still, there was no sign of Boundless Rokh. Only then did she relax, instructing him, "You can use this eye, but do not activate any cultivation techniques with it. If you encounter danger, I will handle it. Once we meet Saint Woodcutter, you'll need to cover this eye again with a golden willow leaf."

Qin Mu nodded and put away the golden willow leaf.

It was his first time observing the world with his third eye, located between his brows. He looked around curiously, noting that the sights this eye perceived were different from what his two ordinary eyes saw.

When his ordinary eyes looked at a practitioner, he saw their external appearance, but through his third eye, everything became bizarre.

He looked at Granny Si, and besides seeing her external appearance, he could clearly discern her divine treasures and even her primordial spirit.

The most terrifying thing was that when Qin Mu saw Granny Si's primordial spirit, he found it incredibly palatable, feeling an intense hunger and a strong desire to devour it!

This feeling came from nowhere, making him feel ravenously hungry, with a terrible, overwhelming urge to snatch Granny Si's primordial spirit from her body and swallow it whole!

The hunger in his stomach felt very real, so much so that he felt an impulse to devour.

The last time, in the ruins of Wuwang City, he had opened his third eye for the first time. But then Earth Count appeared and struck a jade pendant into his third eye. Mute, Cripple, and the others then refined a golden willow leaf to seal this eye, so he hadn't noticed anything unusual.

Now, after activating his third eye again, he discovered its strangeness.

"Is it a problem with this eye, or with Luofu Heaven?"

Qin Mu suppressed the urge to devour Granny Si's primordial spirit and mused, "It shouldn't be a problem with Luofu Heaven. Luofu Heaven is a heavenly realm of the devil race; any issues would likely just be related to devil qi. Devil qi wouldn't make me feel this hungry. So, the problem must still be with this eye. Strange, why does opening this eye cause hunger?"

He was utterly baffled and had to put this question aside for now, continuing forward with Granny Si, flying towards the nearest altar.

Saint Woodcutter and the twenty-four gods had constructed many tall, pyramid-shaped altars for blood sacrifices to Luofu Heaven, forcing Boundless Rokh to cease hostilities. Saint Woodcutter would surely guard these altars to prevent their destruction by devil gods. Boundless Rokh and the other devil gods would also certainly hold their ground and avoid conflict with the Grand Emperor Heaven until the altars were destroyed.

Going to the altars to find Saint Woodcutter was the best option.

Qin Mu looked around. The Luofu Heaven he saw was largely consistent with the ominous visions Boundless Rokh had shown him; in fact, it was even more perilous!

Gigantic planets moved overhead in Luofu Heaven. Their geomagnetism interfered with Luofu Heaven's, causing violent earthquakes of terrifying power, resulting in volcanic eruptions and storms moving tens, even dozens, of times faster than sound!

The hurricanes were like blades, resembling the most powerful spirit weapons. Wherever they swept, even newly risen volcanoes were pulverized into dust by the fierce winds!

The most terrifying aspect was the ocean. Towering waves moved at incredibly terrifying speeds, their speed also surpassing sound, destroying everything in their path!

Earthquakes, great winds, towering waves, volcanoes — these were the elements of earth, water, wind, and fire. The surging earth, water, wind, and fire had already rendered Luofu Heaven uninhabitable for any living creature.

It was so terrifying here that space itself became extremely unstable. Shattered space formed long, narrow cracks in the sky and on the ground, like mirrors of no thickness, reflecting scenes both near and far.

Some of these spatial cracks were extremely long, with no end in sight, while others were very short, only two or three feet long. Because they had no thickness, they were hard to detect, thus every step required extreme caution.

If one accidentally passed through a spatial crack, they would very likely be neatly sliced in half!

Space was so sharp that one might only realize they were dead after being cut open.

As Qin Mu and Granny Si resisted the surging towering waves, they even saw colossal waves, tens of thousands of feet high, sliced cleanly in two by an astonishing spatial crack!

Stars shimmered around Granny Si, forming a Grand Heaven Astral Force Field. She used this field to sense dangers in the surroundings, and it also served to resist Luofu Heaven's natural disasters.

Granny Si was already a being who had entered the divine realm. Although Luofu Heaven was dangerous, it wasn't enough to threaten her life.

Qin Mu looked around, seeing countless aggrieved souls drifting through this hellish, terrifying place. These were the souls of devil race members who had died in Luofu Heaven, and their sight made his mouth water.

He quickly suppressed his urge to devour the souls, a feeling of fear arising in his heart: "What kind of monster is this eye turning me into…?"

Just then, they suddenly saw, at the center of a storm ahead, a gigantic devil god's skeleton sprawled across the desolate plains. No matter how violent the storm, it couldn't budge the skeleton in the slightest.

They approached it. Even sprawled on the ground, the skeleton was dozens of yards high. It had wings, now also bone, and four hooves that resembled enormous ox hooves, but they gleamed golden.

Not only that, but Qin Mu also saw glowing divine treasures floating inside this devil god's skeleton, within which were suns, moons, stars, and even a stretch of land.

The divine treasures were already broken, and the land was submerged underwater.

Qin Mu and Granny Si walked into the broken opening of the divine treasure. They saw that the great waters had already engulfed the land within it, and the suns, moons, and stars in the divine treasure's sky were also fragmented and battered.

Even more peculiar, that land still contained cities, walls, and houses, with many houses submerged underwater.

"This was once a habitat for the devil race," Granny Si observed, "It seems to have been destroyed only a few hundred years ago."

Granny Si was greatly surprised and pondered, "Could it be that after the catastrophe in Luofu Heaven, some devil gods willingly sacrificed their bodies, letting devil creatures live within their divine treasures?"

Qin Mu looked around with his third eye. He saw, in the distant sky above a ruined stellar river, a dilapidated devil god's palace.

Within this devil god's divine bridge and divine treasure, a flying bridge connected to the devil god's palace.

He vaguely saw a soul in the devil god's palace, ethereal and indistinct, standing there alone, seemingly very sad.

He felt an impulse to fly over and devour this sad soul, but deep inside, he no longer felt hunger; instead, he felt immense respect.

Only the soul of this devil god remained.

He had given his divine treasure to his people to live in, preserving their lives. However, his physical body couldn't withstand the catastrophe of heaven and earth and perished.

His people might have lived in his divine treasure for a long time, but ultimately, his divine treasure was also shattered by the natural disaster.

"He exhausted his primordial spirit, leaving only his soul intact," Qin Mu murmured. "However, his people still died. His soul must have stood here for hundreds of years…"

Qin Mu looked around, his third eye seeing many drifting souls—the devil race citizens who had died within this devil god's divine treasure. The underworld envoys from Youdu had not come here. Qin Mu looked at this Mahasattva's life-and-death divine treasure, which had been destroyed by the devil god. This was likely why the souls of the devil race citizens who died here were trapped.

"Every race has its share of heroic figures."

Qin Mu closed his third eye. He felt disgusted and nauseated by his urge to eat these souls.

This was not his own thought!

It was not his subconscious!

He couldn't possibly have such an evil subconscious!

"Whatever is influencing my thoughts, you sicken me!"

Qin Mu opened his eyes and turned around. Eloquent, resonant Youdu speech flowed from his mouth, and behind him, a Gate of Heaven's Mandate slowly rose, its doors opening wide. However, this time he didn't use the Soul-Guiding spell but a different divine art.

He intended to send these devil race spirits to Youdu.

Inside the devil god's divine treasure, chilling winds gusted and howled towards the Gate of Heaven's Mandate, flying into the darkness.

On the other side of the Gate of Heaven's Mandate, many small boats sailed up, guiding individual spirits. Soon after, the chilling winds ceased, and a light shone from within the gate, illuminating Qin Mu's face.

"It truly is you. You didn't cause any mischief?" From within the gate, the voice of the old underworld envoy came, sounding surprised.

Qin Mu waved his hand, closing the Gate of Heaven's Mandate. "Granny," he said, "let's go."

Granny Si nodded gently. She looked at him, saying with satisfaction, "Mu'er has truly grown up."

Just as they were about to leave, a faint voice suddenly drifted from a distant place: "Thank you…"

Qin Mu heard the voice and was slightly startled. He looked back, only to see that within the devil god's palace, the devil god's soul was disintegrating and dissipating. The magnificent devil god's palace was rapidly collapsing, and stars were continuously being extinguished.

"Mu'er, no need to look," Granny Si said. "His soul has already scattered."

Granny Si took his hand and swiftly rushed out of the divine treasure. "This devil god's soul didn't scatter because he had an unfulfilled wish," she explained. "Otherwise, his soul would have long turned to dust. Now that his soul is dissipating, the divine treasure will also crumble!"

No sooner had they rushed out than a breathtaking tremor came from behind. With a deafening roar, the divine treasures instantly annihilated, and violent explosions swept out in all directions!

Granny Si quickly fled far away with Qin Mu. The explosion's shockwave hit, flinging them both high into the air!

Granny Si exerted herself to the utmost, expanding the Grand Heaven Astral Force Field to protect Qin Mu. Just then, a black light suddenly flew out from the annihilation, whistling as it tore through the Grand Heaven Astral Force Field, moving like a dragon!

"Mu'er helped you by sending your people's souls to Youdu," Granny Si exclaimed, "And you dare to harm him?"

Granny Si was furious and was about to act, but she saw the black light swirl gently behind Qin Mu's head, forming a black halo. In the center of the black halo were streaks of fervent red light, forming a red disk, like a bloody devil moon.

Qin Mu turned his head, but couldn't see this devil moon.

He quickly took out a mirror and checked, seeing the devil moon slowly rotating behind him. Within the black halo on it, countless devil race characters constantly shifted and flowed.

Granny Si's anger turned to joy, and she chuckled, "Consider that a sign of good conscience. Mu'er, this is a devil moon formed from the last of that devil god's divine treasure energy, given to you as repayment. This is quite good; it can boost your devil cultivation."

Qin Mu immediately felt the appearance of this devil moon; his devil essence was rapidly increasing. He figured it wouldn't be long before he could make a concerted effort to break through to the Seven Stars Divine Treasure!

"Granny," Qin Mu asked, puzzled, "that devil god's soul should have been able to tell that I'm human. Why would he still help me?"

Granny Si walked towards the distant altar and said, "You are clearly human, yet why did you help those devil spirits by sending them to Youdu?"

Qin Mu was slightly startled.

Granny Si chuckled, "You have a pure heart, and others know how to repay kindness. There are heroes among the devil race too, and figures worthy of admiration."
