Chapter 17: Spiritual Fetus Breaking Through the Barrier

Xian Qing'er's face drastically changed, instantly becoming incredibly hideous and ugly. The little girl's body began to swell, and her lower half emitted a hissing sound. Bony, gnarled legs pierced through her skirt, sharply digging into the ground. Her body grew thick and long, resembling a giant centipede made of bones!

High bone armor protruded from her upper back, causing her body to hunch. Arms made of bones spread open, their finger bones forming incredibly sharp claws.

Curved bone spurs, like antlers, grew from the back of her head. Her face was crisscrossed with valleys and ridges, indescribably terrifying. A supremely shrill sound erupted from her mouth, like countless women screaming hysterically at once. She shrieked, "Get in here!"

Qin Mu looked up at the skeletal woman-centipede, showing surprise. He then shook his head and replied, "No."

The monster in the temple roared repeatedly in anger. Its many legs scurried quickly, circling the temple again and again before it suddenly lunged towards the ancient temple's entrance. At that moment, a clanging sound echoed. The oasis trembled, and thick chains rattled ceaselessly.

Qin Mu quickly looked over. He saw that one end of the chains was submerged in the river, wrapped around the large golden Buddha statue in the temple, while the other end was locked onto the monster's body.

The monster had golden rings attached to its body, and the chains were fastened to these rings. Whenever she tried to lunge out of the temple's entrance, the chains yanked her back.

The monster thrashed about wildly, but it could never take even half a step out of the temple gate.

Qin Mu calmly sat down and continued his breathing exercises, practicing the 'Tyrant Body Three Elixirs Art' to recover his physical strength.

After a moment, it grew quiet behind him. The monster, unable to break free from the chains, suddenly turned and charged towards the golden Buddha in the temple. It screamed, "You damned bald monk, you've suppressed me here! Are you trying to starve me to death? This child hasn't offered you incense, so why won't you let me eat him?"

The Buddha statue remained unmoving despite being struck by it. The monster was enraged and circled the statue, sending countless skeletons behind it flying with its impacts.

Qin Mu looked back and was secretly astonished to see that the skeletons were all human bones. He wondered how many people had died in this small, dilapidated temple!

Not long after, the monster in the temple quieted down. It picked up the bones one by one and hid them behind the golden Buddha, its bloodshot eyes staring intently at Qin Mu outside the temple.

"Bald monk, meat delivered to your doorstep, meat delivered to your doorstep..." it mumbled. It came back behind the temple gate, staring at the back of Qin Mu's head, as saliva flowed continuously from its mouth like a stream.

Not long after, it transformed back into the appearance of the little girl, Xian Qing'er. Her clothes were half-undone, and she giggled, "Young man, let's be shameless together—"

Qin Mu's resolve was strong; he ignored her completely. He finally recovered his strength, and his vital energy returned to its peak. He felt that his vital energy had made significant progress after a day of arduous practice.

A thought stirred in his mind. He decided to circulate his vital energy, silently recite the demonic incantation, and once again attempt to break through the Spirit Embryo Wall.

"Qi Ke Duo, Sa Mo Ye, Bo Ruo Bo Ruo Sa Mo Ye, Qi Ke Duo Bo Ruo Sa Mo Ye..."

Just as his vital energy surged towards the Spirit Embryo Wall, a series of rumbles suddenly emanated from the ancient temple. Yet, at this very moment, his vital energy precisely reached the Spirit Embryo Wall, and from beyond the Nine Heavens, a series of divine sounds echoed, as if gods residing in the heavens were chanting scriptures.

The divine sounds met the Buddhist sounds from the temple and instantly grew louder, competing with them. This greatly reduced the pressure on his vital energy.

"What a good opportunity!"

He saw that the Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure was a strange space, filled with brilliant golden light, like an incredibly ancient grotto-heaven and blessed land.

His consciousness delved in. The Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure seemed like an ocean of light, with light everywhere, like a fairyland. His consciousness felt nourished and very comfortable by the light.

His consciousness flew through this sea of golden light for an unknown period, yet found nothing.

"Isn't this supposed to be the Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure?" he wondered. "Why is there nothing inside? Could the gods have taken back the treasure they left for me?"

Qin Mu was puzzled. The Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure was open, so where was the treasure?

Suddenly, he saw a stone statue in the sea of light, standing isolated and very abruptly.

"Why is there a stone statue in the Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure?" he wondered. "Could this be the divine treasure itself?"

Qin Mu was surprised. His consciousness flew around the statue, examining it up and down. Only then did he discover its strangeness: the statue was merely an illusion, not carved from stone.

This "stone statue" was neither jade nor stone. It was crystal clear, yet gave a soft impression.

The strangest thing was that the "stone statue" bore a striking resemblance to him. However, it looked more like Qin Mu when he was a baby, around two or three years old!

"There's a statue of me in the Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure?" he pondered. "Did the gods know what I looked like and carve a statue of me, hiding it in my Spirit Embryo Divine Treasure?"
