Chapter 766: One Glance Reveals You're Not Human

Shang Shiqiu had sternly warned Liang Feiyan not to flirt around at the Heavenly Secret Pavilion. According to him, every beautiful female disciple, except Ye Banxia, was already taken. Yet, this woman claimed she was alone! Something was wrong!

Jiang Fan's eyes flickered, but he didn't make a sound. Instead, he silently recovered his spiritual power and stamina.

"Junior brother, have you found anything here?" Huaxin, her steps light as a lotus, moved towards the shattered remains of a guard. She poked the armor with her finger. *Pfft*, the armor was pierced through. She couldn't help but frown deeply.

Jiang Fan sighed, "As you can see. The armor has been so severely corroded by time; what could possibly remain intact?"

Unwilling to give up, Huaxin searched every corner of the tent. Without exception, everything was severely decayed and crumbled upon touch. There was nothing that could be taken.

"All that excitement for nothing," Huaxin sighed. "I thought we'd found a treasure."

Then, she looked at Jiang Fan, asking curiously, "Have you been fighting? Why do you look so weak?"

Jiang Fan's heart tightened slightly. He maintained a nonchalant expression and said, "Just a minor injury, nothing serious." At this moment, he had recovered a bit of spiritual power, enough to activate the Five-Magnet Primordial Mountain. Moreover, his Void Current Lightning Energy was still intact. Subduing this woman would not be a problem.

Huaxin hesitated, then took a jade bottle from her embrace and said, "I know you're weak now and wary of people. Even if I give you a healing elixir, you wouldn't dare take it. I won't say anything more; I'll just place the elixir on the ground. You can decide what to do with it." She took out a bottle of elixir and placed it on the ground not far from Jiang Fan.

"Thank you for your kindness, Senior Sister. Please take it back." He shifted his position, moving further away from the bottle of elixir. Since this woman had lied from the beginning, Jiang Fan would not believe a single word she said afterward. No matter how kind or gentle she pretended to be, in Jiang Fan's eyes, she would always be shrouded in a shadow of suspicion.

Huaxin gave a wry smile, "I understand. If you need any help, Junior Brother..."

Jiang Fan unceremoniously interrupted her. "If you truly want to help me, please leave this place. That way, I'll feel much more at ease."

Hearing Jiang Fan's blunt words, Huaxin sighed softly. "Alright," she said. "Since you put it that way, I won't overstay my welcome. Take care."

With that, she turned and gracefully floated towards the exit without looking back, a hint of grievance in her posture. Her slender back appeared particularly desolate at that moment, evoking a sense of vulnerability and pity. Jiang Fan couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt. *Was he being too heartless?* But he still held onto his initial suspicion and didn't try to stop her.

Huaxin reached the exit, tore open the space, and was about to slip out. Suddenly, it was as if she was struck by something from outside. She let out a pained grunt. Her body flew back like a falling leaf. A trickle of crimson blood welled up from her chest, rapidly staining a large part of her clothes.

Jiang Fan slightly frowned, "What happened?"

Huaxin painfully lifted her head, looking at the spatial exit that had reclosed. She showed a wry smile, "I've upset a few people, and they chased me outside this space. I'm sorry to have implicated you. But don't worry. They probably don't know how to open this place, otherwise they wouldn't have ambushed me outside."

Jiang Fan's expression darkened. "How can I not worry?" he asked. "Are you saying I have to stay here as long as they don't leave?"

Huaxin gently pursed her red lips, a deep apology appearing on her face. "I'm truly sorry. Once I recover from my injuries, I'll leave by myself and won't involve you at all."

As she spoke, she took out the healing elixir bottle from earlier, poured out a pill, and swallowed it. Then, she sat cross-legged and began to regulate her body.

"Are you sure you don't want it, Junior Brother?" She pointed to the jade bottle again. She had taken one herself, which should prove the elixir was fine.

Jiang Fan refused without hesitation, "No, thank you." *Hadn't Yan Dao'an also drunk the Mixed-Origin Nine-Colored Marrow that Jiang Fan had drunk? What was the result then?*

Huaxin shook her head and said, "Your vigilance is a bit too strong, Junior Brother. Never mind, have it your way..."

*Pfft!* Suddenly, a look of pain contorted her face, and she violently coughed up a mouthful of blood. Her body then trembled uncontrollably, and she collapsed to the ground. The blood from her chest not only didn't stop but flowed even more profusely.

"How despicable!" "To use such a shameless attack method!" She tried to pour out another elixir. But her trembling hand failed, and the jade bottle dropped to the ground, rolling *gulu-gulu* to a spot not far from Jiang Fan.

"Junior Brother... help me... get a healing elixir..." Huaxin gasped for breath, weakly appealing to Jiang Fan for help.

Jiang Fan frowned. After a moment of thought, he took out a Rejuvenation Pill and tossed it to her. "Take mine."

The Rejuvenation Pill landed precisely beside her hand. Huaxin didn't care if the pill was effective or not; she struggled to pick it up and put it into her mouth. But the strange injury in her body was too severe. Before she could swallow it, she spewed out another mouthful of blood, spraying the Rejuvenation Pill from her hand. Her hand tried to reach for the Rejuvenation Pill but ultimately fell back powerlessly. The focus in her eyes quickly scattered, leaving faint traces of pain. From her mouth and nose, her breath gradually faded. She was on the verge of death!

Yet, Jiang Fan remained seated, unmoving. He allowed Huaxin to slowly breathe her last in pain and despair. Even so, Jiang Fan did not lower his guard. He continued to recover his spiritual power while keeping a close eye on her body.

Time passed, bit by bit. The duration of a cup of tea. The duration of an incense stick. Half an hour. An hour. Jiang Fan's spiritual power and stamina had largely recovered. Seeing no abnormalities in Huaxin's body, he relaxed slightly. But he did not drop his guard completely. This woman was clearly problematic, and the more he thought about it, the stranger it seemed.

His eyes flashed. He controlled his flying sword to move towards her, thrusting it fiercely into her heart as a precaution. *Pfft!* Blood splattered. Huaxin's body remained motionless. But he still wasn't reassured. He directed his flying sword to shred her clothes into tiny pieces, guarding against any hidden dangerous objects. Once he confirmed there was nothing unusual, he conjured a ball of raging flames in his palm. He flicked it onto the body, preparing to burn it to ashes.

But then! Just at that moment! Huaxin's body suddenly sat upright. She was alive! With a raise of her hand, she extinguished the incoming flames. She rubbed her temples, murmuring to herself with her head bowed:

"Where did it go wrong?""Was my acting not good enough?""Or are you just too cunning? Why won't you fall for it?"

With a chilling voice, she slowly lifted her head. Her beautiful eyes, once clear black and white, had become utterly pitch-black at some point. It was as if both her eyes were filled with ink. There were no pupils. Only black! This was clearly not a human characteristic!

Jiang Fan narrowed his eyes and calmly scoffed: "Because, I saw through you from the very beginning!"
