Kong Yuanba stared at them in disbelief. His own disciples were asking him to commit suicide to gain Jiang Fan’s forgiveness?
“Shut up! You useless trash!” Kong Yuanba roared. “At this critical moment for the Giant Sect, you actually betray us? Are you not afraid of future generations mocking you for killing your sect leader to please the enemy?”
His indignant reprimand indeed weakened the resolve of many disciples. Asking their sect leader to die for them was unprecedented throughout history. They were destined to be forever infamous.
“Attack with me!” Kong Yuanba shouted. His impassioned rallying cry still stirred many disciples. Gritting their teeth, they rekindled their fighting spirit and charged towards Jiang Fan, following Kong Yuanba.
Roughly a dozen disciples swarmed towards Jiang Fan. Just as they were about to reach him, Kong Yuanba’s eyes flashed. Without warning, he retreated explosively, kicking off the ground and sending a splash of water several feet high. He sped off towards Jie Mountain, leaving the group of disciples stunned and bewildered, charging blindly towards Jiang Fan.
Jiang Fan looked at these disciples and said indifferently, “The Giant Sect’s tradition has always been to prioritize self-interest above all else. How could such extreme egoists possess the tragic heroism to sacrifice themselves for the sect? Only you few simple-minded disciples would believe that. Didn’t you notice that the two Supreme Elders and the other Elders remained completely still?”
The disciples finally realized. Kong Yuanba had used them as a shield, leveraging their numbers to block Jiang Fan and buy himself time to escape.
“Kong Yuanba!” They were enraged, furious at the deception.
Jiang Fan’s eyes showed cold indifference; he offered them no sympathy. He drew his sword and charged in. Ten breaths later, their screams faded as they were all cut down on the spot.
The two Supreme Elders and the other Elders watched, their hearts aching. Only a little over fifty disciples remained. These were all elite disciples of the Giant Sect, the future embers of their sect. Each one lost was irreplaceable.
One Supreme Elder cupped his hands and said, “Fellow Daoist Jiang. As you can see, Kong Yuanba has betrayed our Giant Sect. From today forward, our Giant Sect will have no further connection with Kong Yuanba. We ask Fellow Daoist Jiang to distinguish right from wrong and not mistakenly kill the innocent any further.”
Jiang Fan nodded slightly. He mounted his purple sword and flew towards Kong Yuanba’s direction. The members of the Giant Sect watched Jiang Fan’s figure gradually shrink into the distance before finally letting out a sigh of relief.
One Supreme Elder picked up Zhou Qingcang’s body, tears welling in his old eyes. His gaze was filled with hatred. He looked around at the disciples, his eyes red as he shouted, “Go look at the bodies of your masters, your senior brothers, your junior brothers. Remember how horribly they died! Engrave it in your hearts forever! From now on, constantly remind yourselves to cultivate diligently and seek revenge! If ten years isn’t enough, then twenty! If twenty isn’t enough, then fifty! One day, you will avenge all this blood feud for me! Kill Jiang Fan, kill the Qingyun Sect, kill them all! Leave no one alive!!!”
Tears streamed down the disciples' faces, their eyes burning with the flames of revenge. From that day forward, the Giant Sect disciples had only one mission: revenge, until the Qingyun Sect was annihilated.
The Supreme Elder nodded slightly in satisfaction. “Go, remember their faces. Whenever you grow complacent or don’t feel like cultivating, just think of their miserable appeara—”
Pfft—
He couldn’t finish his sentence. A cold arrowhead pierced his back, emerging through his chest. He looked down at the arrow shaft protruding from his chest, drenched in steaming, hot blood. He was somewhat incredulous. With difficulty, he turned his head to look. Jiang Fan, who had clearly flown away, had silently returned, concealed by the white clouds, and was now holding a gleaming silver longbow. “You…” A chill ran through him, then his vision went black, and he collapsed to the ground.
The other Supreme Elder hastily said, “Fellow Daoist Jiang! Why, why have you returned? What was just said only represents Elder Hong and has nothing to do with the rest of us.”
Jiang Fan slowly descended on his flying sword. He said indifferently, “How could I leave without killing all of you?” He had merely feigned his departure, giving them the illusion of having survived. Once they relaxed, it was naturally easier to ambush them.
The sole remaining Supreme Elder was both fearful and enraged. “You, aren’t you too brutal? We already told you it was Kong Yuanba’s fault alone! We have always opposed killing Li Qingfeng. Why are you venting your anger on the innocent?”
Jiang Fan sneered, “Innocent? When I came for revenge, if you had been able to make Kong Yuanba commit suicide like you did just now, then I would believe you were innocent! But you didn’t. You all desperately tried to kill me. And your eventual dissociation from Kong Yuanba wasn’t because you realized your mistake. It was because you were terrified of being killed! Because you were hurt by the killing! Now you want to pretend to be innocent? Too late!”
He leaped forward, lunging at the last Supreme Elder. “Vast Divine Lord!” A majestic divine idol appeared behind him, extending four arms that simultaneously struck. Regardless of the outcome of the confrontation, he then produced the blood-red skirt and waved it. The Supreme Elder, who had barely managed to block the divine idol, was caught off guard and ensnared by the blood-red skirt.
“Jiang Fan! You are too ruthless! Annihilating an entire sect! Aren’t you afraid of retribution…?”
Pfft—
A purple light pierced his neck. With a light flick, his head flew into the sky. His headless body crashed heavily to the ground.
Jiang Fan wiped his sword on the corpse’s clothes and said faintly, “If retribution can bring Li Qingfeng back to life, then I hope it comes soon.” He then turned and charged towards the last two Elders. Their cultivation was only at the sixth or seventh layer of Core Formation, so their fate was self-evident.
Finally, Jiang Fan looked coldly at the more than fifty disciples. He had no intention of sparing them. The seeds of hatred had already been planted in their hearts. Leaving even one alive would be a future disaster!
That single glance instantly shattered their courage. How could a group of disciples who hadn't even reached Core Formation dare to lay a hand on Jiang Fan? They scattered in terror, fleeing in all directions.
“You won’t escape!” Jiang Fan took a step to pursue them when a group of old men, dressed in Qingyun Sect robes, rapidly approached from behind. They were the Qingyun Sect's Supreme Elders, led by Shi Kaitian. His face was filled with determination; he had already resolved to fight the Giant Sect to the death. However, when he noticed the horrific scene, even he was stunned.
The ground was littered with the bodies of Giant Sect members. There were those in disciple robes, elder robes, and even several in Supreme Elder robes. Their deaths varied: some had their hearts pierced, more were beheaded, becoming headless corpses, and others were cut in half. Dazzling blood stained the entire battlefield. The pungent, suffocating smell assaulted one's very soul, creating a truly hellish scene.
“Gulp.” Subsequently, Zhuang Yuanyin and the other Supreme Elders gazed at the battlefield, their aged eyes trembling. “Th-that’s Giant Sect’s Third Supreme Elder, Qian Daoyuan!”
“If I’m not mistaken, that head belongs to the Fifth Supreme Elder, Kong Wuming, right?”
“The one missing half a face, is that Tenth Supreme Elder Duan Mingrui?”
“That’s Seventh Supreme Elder, Han Feide.”
“And Zhao Wumeng, Chen Hailiang, Bu Zhen, Jia Daoqing!”
“Hiss! Plus the deceased Fang Taiji, He Jiuzhang…”
“All of the Giant Sect’s Supreme Elders are wiped out!”
“Not just the Supreme Elders, the Elders are all dead too!”
“Except for Kong Yuanba, the entire upper echelon of the Giant Sect has been annihilated!”
