Chapter 1138: Starting to Piggyback from a Fake Wife

Green Pearl blushed crimson, exclaiming, "What indecent things are you saying?"

Jiang Fan blinked. "Isn't it normal for a married couple?" he asked. "Green Pearl, my dear wife, let's go back." He put his arm around Green Pearl and headed towards Black Sun Royal City.

Green Pearl was startled. This wasn't what she had imagined. Her original plan was for Jiang Fan to be an obedient puppet. But now, how had he turned the tables? Not only had he taken advantage of her, but he also wanted to consummate their marriage? She was scared! Quickly, she pulled Jiang Fan back. "My dear husband, there's actually someone else who's been bullying me," she said. "Once you've helped me get revenge, can we... then do that?" Her intention was clearly for him to deal with another person.

This time, it wasn't a test; Green Pearl genuinely had a troublesome opponent. But Jiang Fan was only a Four-Aperture Nascent Soul practitioner. Even with all his techniques, he could barely reach the Seven-Aperture Nascent Soul level. How could he harm a venerable master of Green Pearl's caliber? Did he possess an unknown trump card? His eyes darted around as he probed, "Alright! As your husband, I've said it before: your enemy is my enemy! Who is he? What is his cultivation level? If I can kill him, I will certainly eradicate him."

Green Pearl looked troubled. "She's stronger than I am," she said. "She's a Four-Crowned Asura King, and I'm only a Two-Crowned one."

Jiang Fan was shocked. A Four-Crowned Asura King? Wouldn't that be close to a Five-Star Giant King? He continued to probe, "Your husband is still on your side. However, we need a long-term plan. For a gentleman, revenge is never too late, even after a thousand years. Once I've cultivated for a millennium and reached the Venerable stage of the Five Declines of Heaven and Man, I'll help you get your revenge!"

Green Pearl's mouth twitched. "If I had to wait a thousand years, why would I even need to bother with you?" she thought. "I'd have slapped you into dust ages ago!" Suppressing her urge to explode, she said softly, "My dear husband, you really don't need to worry. I won't send you alone. The Five-Star Giant King, along with seven other Giant Kings, are already dealing with her. You just need to provide some simple assistance."

A glint flashed in Jiang Fan's eyes. No wonder only the Space and Fate Giant Kings were stationed in the vast Black Sun Royal Court. The formidable Five-Star Giant King and the other seven Giant Kings were nowhere to be seen. It turned out they were dealing with a very formidable Four-Crowned Asura King! He felt a surge of excitement. For a long time, the Central Land had believed the Heavenly Realm was solely ruled by the Ancient Giants, a unified and impenetrable force. But now, it seemed that at least the Southern Heavenly Realm was not entirely dominated by them. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. He could very well ally with this Four-Crowned Asura King to jointly oppose the Ancient Giants.

Of course, he didn't believe Green Pearl's nonsense about 'providing assistance.' Green Pearl endured such humiliation, allowing Jiang Fan to take advantage of her without daring to get angry. Clearly, she had a much larger scheme in mind. He was merely a pawn in her hands. Her so-called assistance most likely involved a life-threatening task. How could he undertake such a dangerous mission without seizing the opportunity to demand some benefits?

Jiang Fan subtly began to ask for benefits: "Alright, I trust you, my dear wife. You can count on me for the assistance. However, I'd still like to improve my strength further to ensure I complete the mission even better." He stared intently at Green Pearl. Since he was going to take a risk for her, she couldn't possibly offer nothing in return, could she?

It took Green Pearl a moment to realize. This man was asking her for a reward. Even after losing his memory, he was still so cunning? She couldn't imagine how troublesome he must have been before he lost it. However, Green Pearl hadn't planned on sending Jiang Fan empty-handed anyway. To anger that woman, Jiang Fan needed something sensitive that would provoke her. "Let's go back to my room," she said. "I have something important to give you." Jiang Fan nodded, immediately wrapping his arm around Green Pearl, and happily, openly, returned to Black Sun Royal Court.

The Space Giant King watched Jiang Fan's retreating figure with a touch of envy. "That dog, he really got off easy!"

The Fate Giant King, however, spoke with deeper meaning. "Has that boy really had his memory erased? I can't help but feel that Green Pearl has constantly been at a disadvantage."

Black Cloud Fort.

In a secret chamber, Gu Xin'er saw off a group of disheveled reconnaissance disciples. She then noted in a small book: "Ten more have returned, bringing the total of those who safely left to over thirty."

She mused, "I wonder how that little rascal is doing. It's been several days; he should have returned by now, right?"

Thump, thump—

Two figures successively fell from the void, landing beside the Sky-Reaching Black Pillar. They were none other than Bai Xin and Dharma Seal Vajra. Both looked quite disheveled. Bai Xin's soft armor was torn and tattered, as if she had suffered a violent animal attack. Several parts of her body were bruised and bloody, some even revealing deep bite marks that reached the bone. Her pale face was tinged with black, indicating significant poisoning. Gu Xin'er quickly took out a bottle of Rejuvenation Pills, obtained from the Heavenly Machine Pavilion, and gave one to Bai Xin.

Then she looked at Dharma Seal Vajra. He was no better; his Buddhist aura was scattered, and his vital energy was weak. Black smoke emanated from his body, and she couldn't tell where he had fallen. Gu Xin'er also gave him a Rejuvenation Pill. After a long while, both of them gradually recovered.

Gu Xin'er, having waited for Jiang Fan without success, felt her heart sink. She asked, "Commander Bai, what happened to you?"

Bai Xin weakly replied, "During the spatial teleportation, I fell into an ancient underground imperial palace. Many primeval beings from the Southern Heavenly Realm resided there. My cultivation was sealed, and I was hunted by these creatures; I barely escaped with my life. It was sheer luck that I stumbled upon a teleportation array in the palace and managed to flee."

Looking at Bai Xin's disheveled state, Gu Xin'er had no doubt about the danger she had faced. "Master Dharma Seal, what about you?"

Dharma Seal Vajra clasped his palms together. "Amitabha," he said. "I fell into the tomb of an ancient Asura King. His lingering soul tried to force me to abandon my monastic vows and remain as his sacrificial companion. Fortunately, with the blessing of the Bodhisattvas, I managed to escape."

Gu Xin'er asked in surprise, "Why did both of you encounter such great danger?"

Bai Xin pondered. "It should be the doing of that Giant King with the nine-colored stars on his brow. Records indicate that he is the Fate Giant King, capable of altering people's luck. Although we escaped, we couldn't get out of his attack range in time and were affected by many of his negative influences."

Upon hearing this, Gu Xin'er's heart sank. "Only the two of you returned? What about Jiang Fan?"

Dharma Seal Vajra's pupils contracted slightly, surprised. "Has Benefactor Jiang not returned yet?"

Bai Xin also sat up abruptly, her expression complicated. "I'm afraid Jiang Fan encountered even greater danger than we did!"

Dharma Seal Vajra remained stunned for a moment, then bowed his head in prayer. "May the Buddha bless Benefactor Jiang and turn his misfortune into fortune."

Gu Xin'er's face turned pale. She stumbled and collapsed onto a chair, tears welling up in her eyes. "Oh, little rascal," she sobbed. "You poor thing, sniffle, sniffle..."
