Chapter 1136: Put Yourself at Stake

As soon as he said this, Lvzhu’s eyes widened, and she instinctively wanted to slap Jiang Fan to death.

“Aren’t you ashamed?” she thought. “What makes you think someone pretty could be your wife?”

Fortunately, she forcibly suppressed the urge and began to think calmly. Upon careful thought, she realized that besides being his master, only the role of a bedside companion could make Jiang Fan willing to risk his life for her. Any other identity would either be easily exposed by him or simply wouldn’t carry enough weight.

But, did she really have to become this guy’s wife?

The Space Giant King scoffed telepathically, “He’s getting presumptuous! Lvzhu, there’s no need to demean yourself!”

The Fortune Giant King also said, “Let me handle him instead! I’ll find a way to drain his fortune and then throw him into the ancient sinkhole.”

To the two Giant Kings, this identity was simply too absurd. If the Five-Star Giant King found out, Jiang Fan’s fate would be obvious, and Lvzhu wouldn’t fare well either.

“No!” Lvzhu objected. She looked at Jiang Fan in front of her, her heart struggling several times, and said with difficulty, “Anyway, he’s lost his memory and become a fool. I’ll just put up with it for now. Once I’m done using him, I’ll kill him. I won’t lose anything!”

The Space Giant King and Fortune Giant King were completely bewildered. Was it really worth it? What exactly did this boy possess that was worth such a great sacrifice from Lvzhu, the Asura King? To actually be willing to be the wife of a lowly Central Lands human?

For a moment, both couldn’t help but show a hint of envy in their eyes as they looked at Jiang Fan. This guy was supposed to be a captured prey, yet his treatment made even Giant Kings drool. The only thing that could console them was that it was merely a fake marital relationship. Moreover, Lvzhu was a Revered Spirit Transformation expert, while Jiang Fan was only a Four-Aperture Nascent Soul. Jiang Fan might bear the title of Lvzhu’s husband, but he wouldn't be able to take any advantage of her.

Lvzhu made up her mind, took a deep breath, and said, “That’s right, I am your wife. Husband, don’t you remember me?”

Jiang Fan still looked bewildered and said, “First you say you’re my master, then you say you’re my wife. Which one should I believe?”

These words made Lvzhu feel guilty. She retorted, “We were always husband and wife. If you don’t believe me, ask the two Giant Kings; they can testify.”

The Space Giant King stared at him with a jealous gaze and said reluctantly, “Wang Chongxiao, you are indeed the husband of Lvzhu, the Asura King. I can guarantee that.”

The Fortune Giant King also sighed helplessly and said, “I even attended your wedding. We even drank together, have you forgotten?”

Watching their earnest assurances, Jiang Fan almost couldn’t hold back his laughter. He looked at Lvzhu with a look of realization, his eyes filled with helplessness. “So you really are my wife,” he said. He hugged Lvzhu, burying his head in her chest, and said uneasily, “Lvzhu, my wife. What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I remember anything? Did I even forget you?”

The Space Giant King and Fortune Giant King’s vertical eyes widened. Their eyes nearly popped out of their heads. The image of Jiang Fan’s face nuzzling Lvzhu’s chest was reflected in their eyes, and their hearts were struck by countless thunderbolts. Did Lvzhu really confirm she wouldn’t suffer a loss? As soon as she acknowledged him as her husband, he went this far? What more could happen?

Lvzhu’s whole body stiffened, feeling as if several bolts of lightning had struck her, leaving her tingling all over. She even lost the strength to push Jiang Fan away. Her pretty face visibly flushed, and her forehead was practically steaming. She stared blankly at Jiang Fan, who was nuzzling his head in her embrace, and shrieked with a trembling voice, “W-what are you doing?!”

Jiang Fan looked up, his eyes innocent. “Is there something wrong with this between a husband and wife? Or are we actually not husband and wife?”

Only then did Lvzhu realize her impropriety. She quickly pushed Jiang Fan away and said, “We… we are husband and wife, but in public, and in front of the two Giant Kings, let’s be a bit more restrained.”

Jiang Fan uttered an ‘Oh,’ then put his arm around her shoulder, saying, “Is this better?”

Lvzhu felt as if thorns were growing all over her body whenever Jiang Fan touched her, making her immensely uncomfortable. Yet she had to forcefully endure it, not daring to resist too much, lest Jiang Fan grow suspicious. Her peripheral vision caught Zong Chaosheng, and she quickly found an excuse to give Jiang Fan one last test. “Kill him first.”

Jiang Fan nodded, saying without hesitation, “Alright, I’ll listen to my wife.” Before Lvzhu could be pleased, Jiang Fan pointed to his mouth. “But you have to give me a reward first.”

“What?” Lvzhu almost stomped her foot, wanting to pulverize Jiang Fan on the spot. This scoundrel actually wanted her to kiss him! “Kiss what?! That’s it! She wouldn’t tolerate this humiliation! She hadn't even gotten revenge on her archenemy yet, and now she’d lose her first kiss! Why should she?”

Jiang Fan knew when to quit while he was ahead, pointing to his cheek. “My cheek is fine too.”

Only then was Lvzhu pulled back from the brink of fury. Kissing his lips was something she absolutely couldn’t do. But if it was just his cheek, she could close her eyes and pretend she was kissing a wall! She forced a smile. “Alright, I’ll give you a reward first.” Saying this, she stood on tiptoe and made a smacking sound as she kissed Jiang Fan’s cheek.

But when she kissed him, she realized something was wrong. A warm, moist sensation, like an electric shock, spread through her. She opened her eyes and saw that Jiang Fan had turned his head. Their lips met.

“Ah!” Lvzhu quickly pulled her lips away, screaming, “You cheated!”

Jiang Fan said innocently, “My neck was stiff, so I twisted it a bit, and you just happened to kiss me. Can you blame me for that?”

Lvzhu was furious! They had only been pretending to be husband and wife for a few breaths! First, her chest was nuzzled, then her first kiss was taken! Oh, heavens! W-what was she going to do now? She regretted it a little. The sacrifice was too great! But Jiang Fan had already taken advantage of her; if she turned hostile now, wouldn’t all her efforts be in vain?

She could only suppress her anger, gritting her teeth as she said, “N-no, I don’t blame you. It’s my fault.”

Jiang Fan shook his head and said, “Let me correct you. Stop saying ‘you’ and ‘I’ like that. When you address me, you should call me ‘husband.’ And when you refer to yourself, you should say ‘this humble wife.’ No matter how you addressed me before, you must change it from now on. Did you hear me?”

Lvzhu was so angry her head felt like it was steaming. This scoundrel, was he really trying to discipline his ‘wife’? She suppressed her humiliation and nodded, saying, “This humble wife understands, husband.”

Only then was Jiang Fan satisfied. He looked at the unconscious Zong Chaosheng on the ground and asked, “Wife, who is this person? Why do you want to kill him?”

Finally, they were back to the main topic. Lvzhu felt so tired. She immediately said, “This is the person who tried to harm me. I don’t want to see him again. Can you get rid of him for me?”

Jiang Fan said without hesitation, “Is that even a question? Even if the whole world was against my wife, I’d slaughter the entire world! Just one person?” He immediately drew his purple sword and walked towards Zong Chaosheng.

Lvzhu was slightly stunned; she might be angry, but hearing Jiang Fan’s resolute words, she couldn’t help but mutter inwardly, “This guy, he deserves to die alright. But when it comes to protecting his wife, he truly does protect her.”
