Chapter 1100: Wife Zhenyan Revered

Suichen Shangren, holding one in each hand, pulled his two granddaughters over.

“Young friend Jiang,” he began, “my Jian family has another rule. Anyone who achieves ten consecutive victories at the Killing Stone Tablet will be rewarded with two wives. I’ve already prepared them for you. Please accept them.”

Another elder then walked over, leading his beautiful granddaughter.

“Young friend Jiang,” he said, “my Jian family has yet another rule. Anyone who steps out of the Killing Stone Tablet with their left foot first will have the opportunity to form a marital bond with the Jian family. Congratulations, young friend Jiang, you are a destined match for our Jian family. The bride has already been prepared for you. Please get to know each other quickly.”

Looking at the group of Jian family elders still waiting in line to announce more rules, Jiang Fan was stunned. The Jian family's rules were a bit excessive.

He quickly cupped his hands to stop their farce, saying, “I am grateful for all your elders’ kindness. This junior already has a wife and no intention of marrying again. I cannot delay the esteemed ladies of the Jian family. Please forgive my presumption.”

Jian Lanjiang and Suichen Shangren exchanged meaningful glances.

“Young Master Jiang, you must choose one today,” Jian Lanjiang said. “Otherwise, we will find it very difficult to let you leave.”

The Jian family had no reason to give up on someone destined to reach the God Transformation realm. Jiang Fan’s eyes flickered. Could it be that his ten consecutive victories at the Killing Stone Tablet held some profound significance?

In previous marriage proposals, Jian Lanjiang had only offered women from a branch family for alliance. But now, he had not only brought out his own beloved granddaughter, but a whole group of clan elders whom he had never even met were also offering their granddaughters for marriage. And now, they were even more blunt, demanding he choose one to marry.

He had an idea. He prepared to activate Cloud Shadow and make a quick escape. But the power within him suddenly congealed. It was Suichen Shangren, who had seemingly casually placed a hand on his shoulder, light flickering in his old eyes.

“Young friend,” Suichen Shangren said, “you don’t think you can simply run away from the Jian family, do you?”

Jiang Fan felt a chill secretly. An Eight-Aperture Nascent Soul cultivator had absolute suppressive power over him. Moreover, there wasn’t just one present, but a whole group of Eight-Aperture Nascent Soul cultivators. His face darkened. This was forcing a good man into marriage!

Jian Lanjiang, his gaze intense, said, “Young friend Jiang, choose one.”

Two Eight-Aperture Nascent Soul powerhouses discreetly moved to the hall’s exit. Another two flew above the hall, all to prevent Jiang Fan’s escape.

Jiang Fan’s heart sank. He couldn’t possibly marry someone from the Jian family, especially not by force. But at this moment, even with a hundred pairs of wings, it would be difficult for him to escape.

After a moment’s thought, he brought out his trump card again. “Everyone,” he began, “you might not know me very well. I am actually a messenger of the Bodhisattva, and…”

Jian Lanjiang interrupted him, saying, “And also the appointed translator for the Venerable of the Myriad Tribulations Sacred Hall, and a partner of the Venerable of Truth. Isn’t that right? Over the past day, I’ve already sent people to inquire about your background. None of this affects you marrying a woman from our Jian family. Is there anything else you wish to add?”

Jiang Fan’s expression froze. Was his background already so widely known? What to do? None of it worked. Anxiety welled up within him.

As the Jian family members’ gazes grew increasingly intense, he steeled himself and said with a stiff upper lip, “For me to marry, I must first ask my wife. If she doesn’t agree, I wouldn’t dare make such a decision on my own.”

Jian Lanjiang chuckled, “Who is your wife? I’ll invite her here right now to discuss it.”

Pairs of half-smiling, half-mocking gazes watched Jiang Fan. They were like a pack of wolves eyeing a shorn lamb. Who cared who his wife was? If the Jian family wanted her husband, could she possibly stop them?

Jiang Fan gritted his teeth and declared loudly, “My wife is the Venerable of Truth!”

As his voice echoed through the hall, the entire hall fell into a stunned silence. From the Eight-Aperture Nascent Soul cultivators down to the younger generation of the clan, everyone stared intently at Jiang Fan, unable to believe their ears.

The Venerable of Truth?

Jian Lanjiang swallowed hard and, startled, released Jiang Fan. He said, “Young friend Jiang, this is no laughing matter!”

Jiang Fan took out the Immeasurable Ring and said, “My wife, Venerable of Truth, felt bad that I had no protective artifact when I went to the Sky-Connecting Dark Pillar. She filled it with power for me before I left.”

Several clan elders looked over, their pupils constricting. The power within the ring made even the Eight-Aperture Nascent Soul cultivators present feel a shiver of dread. This was definitely the work of a Venerable!

Suichen Shangren’s face twitched, and he too released his old hand from Jiang Fan’s shoulder.

Jiang Fan then asked, “So, should I call my wife, Venerable of Truth, over, and you can ask her if she minds?”

Jian Lanjiang quickly waved his hand, “No, no, there’s no need. How could we dare trouble a Venerable to come here in person for such a matter? Young friend Jiang, just go back and discuss it with her yourself.”

Who would be foolish enough to try and snatch a man from a Venerable?

Jiang Fan secretly let out a sigh of relief and said, “Then I shall take my leave now.” He cupped his hands to everyone and ascended into the air. Not a single person dared to stop him.

Inside the great hall, it took a long time for everyone to react, sighing in lament. They had watched a future God Transformation Venerable slip away right before their eyes.

Jian Linyu crossed her arms and frowned, saying, “Grandpa, is he truly the Venerable of Truth’s man? Why do I find that a little hard to believe?”

From what she remembered, the Venerable of Truth was like a celestial fairy who rarely interacted with the powers of the Grand Cang Prefecture. Why would she suddenly become Jiang Fan’s wife?

Jian Lanjiang sighed helplessly. “What is there to doubt? Could he possibly dare to lie so openly? Even with a hundred times more courage, he wouldn’t dare.”

Jian Linyu thought for a moment, then frowned, “That’s true. Impersonating a Venerable’s husband... Just how much courage would that take?”

Jiang Fan flew out of the Jian family grounds. His scalp tingled with unease. After the Venerable of Truth woke up, would she peel his skin off like an orange? And then season it and roast it over a fire? After roasting, would she then fry it in a pot of oil forty-nine times? Remembering how she had almost torn his hand off during their first meeting, he was suddenly overcome with a chill.

“Brother Jiang, you’ve finally come out!” Wang Chongxiao, who had been waiting outside the Jian family, was overjoyed.

Looking at his designated scapegoat, Jiang Fan’s heart finally found some comfort. He might end up miserable, but it didn’t matter. Someone else would be even more miserable.

“Brother Jiang, what was that ‘small difficulty’ you mentioned? Please enlighten me.” Wang Chongxiao truly couldn’t wait. He wanted to quickly lure Jiang Fan to a deserted place, knock him out with a stick, and abscond with his Blood Coffin.

Jiang Fan scoffed. Rushing to fall into the trap, are you? Fine, I’ll grant you your wish!

He calculated the time. If they traveled through the air without using a teleportation array, they could just about reach the Sky-Connecting Dark Pillar before the ten-day deadline. However, before that, he needed to prepare one item.

“Brother Wang, wait a moment. I left something behind at the Jian family.”

He quietly made his way to an uninhabited corner of the Jian family grounds. He pulled out the Void Fishing Rod, silently willed for an item, and cast it forward.

In Jian Linyuan’s room. He had enjoyed a wonderful bath, eaten a delicious meal, and drunk a large cup of wine. Days without his sister were truly comfortable. He finally didn’t have to be scolded every day or get beaten every three days.

After he had eaten and drunk his fill, he tugged at his hair and, with a weary expression, pulled open a drawer. From inside, he took out the Spatial Bronze Mirror. From within the mirror came Jian Weishuang’s gasp: “Brother, what’s wrong with you? Is the family bothering you?”

Indeed, it was Jian Weishuang hidden within the bronze mirror.
