Chapter 900: Yin Spirit Descendant

The already dim Nirvana Ancestral Temple was now even darker, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. After the screams, a deathly silence fell, and everyone stopped, feeling a chill run through their bodies.

"Floating... floating out!" someone finally stammered, pointing forward, their face contorted in terror.

Human skins were floating, drifting out of the temple door like falling leaves, light as paper, completely weightless, and landing at their feet. The faces on them were contorted and hideous, as if the people had been flattened, their eyes wide open in death.

"What's going on?" Everyone was stunned. A group of people had been killed simultaneously just after entering the temple gate. This ancient temple was far more sinister than anyone had imagined.

Where were the flesh and blood, the bones? How had they all disappeared? Only the human skins remained, seemingly unharmed. What exactly happened? What kind of malevolent spirit was at work here?

Through the temple gate, pairs of eyes flickered in the darkness like ghostly lamps, then gradually dimmed and vanished into the depths of the temple. This was terrifying. The ancient temple was eerie, impossible to see through, making it unclear what those things were.

Many were trembling with fear. This was only the temple gate. Heaven knew what lay in the deeper darkness after two hundred thousand years shrouded in ribbons of demonic mist; no one knew what changes had occurred.

"I'm giving up, I'm not going in!" Many people decisively made their choice. Divine treasures were certainly valuable, but it would be tragic to lose one's life for them. Some people simply withdrew from the group and walked back. No one scoffed; understanding when to give up was a form of wisdom and a sign of enlightenment.

"Among the dead, there were cultivators at the second level of the Immortal Stage!" someone sighed. More people in the back observed, all frowning.

Some elders crouched down, examining the human skins. They found no flaws, not even a single wound. It was as if these people had shed their skins out of thin air, undergoing a metamorphosis, their true bodies vanishing.

"They are definitely dead," someone stated with certainty. "The spiritual fluctuations just now were the last struggles before their primordial spirits perished."

Despite the strangeness, people couldn't stop there. Some individuals, with cold expressions, conjured their artifacts, which hovered above their heads, casting a bright light, and resolutely walked into the ancient temple.

Their weapons shimmered with divine radiance, and beams of light descended from above their heads, illuminating the path ahead and everything inside the temple gate. It was completely empty, nothing there.

"As cultivators, if we wish to succeed, we must press forward bravely," an elder declared in a deep voice. "How can a mere ancient temple block our path!"

He and a group of people quickly disappeared inside. This time, it was quiet, with no screams. They quickly passed the first courtyard and vanished into the darkness.

The ancient temple was truly strange. The second level seemed to conceal everything; those outside couldn't hear any sounds or see any light. It was as if the two sides were completely cut off from each other.

Many people were still observing, hoping to discern whether it was auspicious or ominous before making a decision. However, at this point, hope faded; simply waiting was not an option. Because if those who went ahead succeeded, they would undoubtedly sweep clean all the rare treasures, leaving nothing for others.

"Let's go. We've come all this way; it would be too regrettable not to experience it ourselves," more people decided, unwilling to fall behind. This was the ancestral temple of the first divine dynasty of the ancient era. Even if there were no ordinary artifacts, any divine tool found here would surely shock the world.

Ye Fan, Pang Bo, and the Monkey also stepped towards the temple gate. The Black Emperor first determined that there were no killing formations inside the temple gate, then had Duan De walk at the very front, asserting this was his domain, unmatched by others.

"This is a temple world, vast and boundless!" Duan De exclaimed, his expression immediately becoming unsettled after entering.

From the outside, it looked like a single ancient temple, but upon entering, they discovered it was a terrifying cluster of small worlds. Each courtyard was a world unto itself, connected together, immense and magnificent beyond measure.

One couldn't help but marvel at the grand scheme of the Nirvana Divine Dynasty. Back then, there must have been beings with world-shaking magical power who didn't hesitate to expend their essence to evolve so many small worlds. The so-called Ancestral Temple was truly unfathomable.

"Even if it's just a wall separating us from the next courtyard," Duan De continued, "if we don't go in, we won't know what's happening in the next layer of the ancient temple, because in reality, it's separated by an entire small world."

They found it was impossible to fly over or even cross the walls. There were spatial barriers, unless one could shatter the void and forcibly blast them open. However, no one dared to act recklessly in such a place. The Nirvana Divine Dynasty once ruled half of the Central Province; who knew what astonishing changes would occur if their most sacred place was damaged.

"This is like a vast labyrinth," the Black Dog said, solemnly warning everyone. "Entire ancient temples and small worlds are connected; you might get lost if you reach the end!"

Ahead, it was pitch black. The courtyard was quiet and silent. No one spoke, all holding their breath and concentrating, as they walked step by step towards the second-layer hall.

On the ground, human skins were scattered over a large area. Clearly, almost everyone from the first group had died, lying spread out on the ground like gruesome paintings.

The old blind man said, "The Nirvana Divine Dynasty is very mysterious. Legend has it that many of their enemies would 'nirvana' directly upon death, vanishing from the world, sometimes leaving only a few strands of hair or beard behind."

Everyone gasped. Only a skin remained, with blood and bones gone, which was quite similar. It truly seemed like they had undergone nirvana in this eerie ancient temple, striking fear into everyone.

A snow orchid on Duan De's person lit up, changing from pure white to blood red and emitting an eerie light in the darkness. They had now reached the entrance of the second courtyard.

"Most of the second group who went in are probably dead too," he said in a deep voice. "Only the strong smell of blood can make the snow orchid change color!" He crouched down to inspect carefully, discovering streaks of blood seeping from the closed door cracks.

Everyone's hair stood on end. Those who went in earlier were all experts, many of them top-tier mighty figures. Had they all died?

A creaking sound came from the door.

From a distance, Duan De used divine power to push open the door to the second courtyard. Instantly, a pungent smell of blood rushed out; inside, it was pitch black and deathly silent.

They gasped. Besides the human skins scattered on the ground, there were many stark white bone fragments stained with blood, numerous torn pieces of flesh and blood, and intestines spilled across the ground. It was incredibly gory and horrifying to behold.

"Everyone who just went in is dead!"

Ordinary people had been turned into human skins, but those powerful elder cultivators, though they struggled and resisted, were all torn to shreds by something.

Duan De held a pitch-black flower between his fingers. It looked as if it had grown in the underworld, tugging at people's souls and making them involuntarily want to fly into it. This was a Death Spirit Flower, grown in a mass grave, carrying the heaviest yin energy.

With a flick of his wrist, he tossed the Death Spirit Flower inside. The black flower landed in the courtyard, motionless, without any changes, and remained so even after a long wait.

"It's not undead or ghosts; there's something living here!" Duan De said in a deep voice.

Something living in an ancient temple sealed for over two hundred thousand years? This news was shocking, even explosive, causing a jolt in the expressions of Ye Fan and the others.

"Let's go!"

Ye Fan walked first, the Cauldron of All Things Mother Qi hovering above his head, its mother qi descending in protective streams, shielding him completely. Ji Ziyue's eyes gleamed as she followed closely beside him. The Monkey, holding his dark iron staff, also stepped forward, entering this layer of the courtyard.

It remained deathly quiet. There was no sound in the courtyard, only a deathly silence. Only the shattered bones and flesh scattered around were horrifying to behold. Once they had all entered, only the sound of their breathing could be heard.

"Ah..."

Suddenly, a piercing scream shattered the stillness. An extremely terrifying aura erupted from above their heads, rushing towards their heads.

This change was too sudden. They had sensed nothing just moments before. The terrible danger had appeared abruptly; a living entity had launched an attack.

The moment they looked up, their scalps tingled. Hanging from the tall courtyard walls and beneath the dark eaves were bodies with disheveled hair. All of them now opened their eyes, which glowed like ghostly lamps, and they dropped down headfirst.

"Damn it, grave robber, didn't you say there were no fierce ghosts? What are these things?" the Black Dog barked, its fur standing on end. Its movements were slow, as if it was carrying a demonic mountain or experiencing sleep paralysis, making it difficult to move.

Everyone else was also affected, their movements sluggish and unable to move quickly. Meanwhile, those terrifying entities, like hanged ghosts, swooped down, reaching for their heads.

"Die, all of you!" Pang Bo was fierce. He directly pulled out the Divine Maiden Furnace he borrowed from Yan Yixi and, flipping open its lid, unleashed divine flames upwards.

"Ah..." Piercing screams echoed through the courtyard, emitting bursts of burnt smell.

The things hanging upside down from the eaves, with disheveled hair and terrifying, ferocious eyes, all sprouted demonic flesh wings and soared into the sky, spiraling and screaming with flames, utterly horrifying.

The more piercing their screams, the slower everyone's movements became. The old blind man said, "Cut off their sound waves, don't let them affect your bodies!"

Everyone awoke to the realization and did as instructed. Immediately, their movements returned to normal, without any hindrance. Pang Bo shouted, "I don't care what you are, today I'm shooting down planes and blasting you all out of the sky!"

He used the Divine Maiden Furnace as an anti-aircraft gun, firing out terrifying bursts of flame. As a legendary sacred weapon, the flames within it naturally possessed unmatched power, burning down dozens of charred bodies, almost unrecognizable.

"What exactly are these things?" everyone asked Duan De.

"Don't blame me; you saw for yourselves they are alive, living beings, not yin ghosts," Duan De said. He crouched down, examining carefully, then walked under the eaves and looked into the dark ancient hall. He quickly recoiled, because there were many more of these things inside.

"I know now! These are descendants of the Yin God," Duan De exclaimed, his expression changing drastically, looking even worse than when he saw a divine thought. "There must be an unparalleled great fiend in the depths of the temple!"

"What are descendants of the Yin God?" everyone asked, puzzled.

These were beings whose power was immense in life, and whose divine bodies remained incorruptible after death. Coincidentally buried over a yin vein's eye, after countless ages, their corporeal remains would one day "come alive." Of course, they would have no connection to their former selves; it would be a new life form, a completely fresh start. This could also be understood as the highest level of corpse transformation – life conceived and born from the very extreme of death, truly a miracle defying the heavens. If they learned to cultivate, they would gradually become invincible.

Such beings are entirely new life forms. They can also procreate and give birth to offspring. The living entities they were currently facing were descendants of the Yin God, though their bloodline power was very diluted. When they encounter humans or other living beings, they can directly immobilize them. Then, mouth to mouth, they can suck out all the essence, blood, bones, and flesh from the victim's body in one gulp. This makes them utterly terrifying!
