**Chapter 780: The Birthplace of Immortal Light**
The vast grasslands seemed endless. Ye Fan visited several ancient sects, but his search for Tu Fei was fruitless. His footprints were left in numerous tribes and on snow-capped sacred mountains.
Over a decade had passed. Logically, even if Tu Fei had flown back on his own, he should have returned to the Eastern Wasteland by now. Yet, there was still no sign of him.
"Why? Is he not in the Northern Plains at all, or perhaps even further away, having entered the birthplace of the Arctic Immortal Light?" That was a world of ice and snow, without land, only glaciers, everything a vast expanse of white. Legend had it that divine ruins existed there, and every hundred thousand years, a wisp of immortal light would be born and ascend.
One hundred thousand years ago, a Great Accomplishment King from the Wang family once obtained a wisp. It became a foundational asset for their family. Unfortunately, limited by his talent, he only managed to step one foot into the Saint realm.
Should he go look or not? Ye Fan thought Tu Fei might be trapped in that icy world. Otherwise, he should have appeared by now.
"We have nothing else to do. Let's go take a look. Maybe we'll even encounter the immortal light that only ascends once every hundred thousand years," Li Tian urged. After arriving in this region, he spent his days wanting to explore every corner, eager to traverse the entire world and understand it thoroughly, so he could pass on the legacy of the Human Desire Dao.
"I believe many people in the Southern Ridge are setting up traps for you and have made various preparations. Let's not follow any rules; that way, they won't know what we're up to. We'll strike back at the right moment," Yan Yixi said, also agreeing to go to the Arctic.
The Human Desire Dao once had Saints who traversed the starry sky. Naturally, they had profound knowledge of spatial secret arts and various teleportation arrays. In several handbooks, the group found many array patterns, all capable of long-distance teleportation.
However, they could only comprehend the most basic first volume. They could set up array platforms that teleported hundreds of thousands of miles, but crossing great domains was difficult to achieve.
"It doesn't matter," they decided. "We have plenty of source energy and profound jade. We can engrave many divine arrays and teleport hundreds of times consecutively; we're sure to get there." Tens of thousands of iron cavalry had flattened the Wang family. Although they had only symbolically taken some treasures, these were unimaginable "divine materials" capable of creating ancient teleportation arrays.
*Whoosh!* With a flash of green light, they vanished from their original spot. They began a tedious journey of multiple crossings. Each successive teleportation allowed them to truly experience the boundlessness of the void and the immensity of heaven and earth.
Finally, they stepped onto a vast, white snowfield. Everywhere were glaciers; the cold was bone-chilling, and their exhaled breath instantly turned into ice shards. It was difficult to find any living creatures here. This was a bitter land of extreme cold. Apart from the endless snow, nothing else was visible.
"What is that?" they wondered, soon after arriving on the ice plain, seeing a massive block of ice that seemed to contain something sealed within. With a soft shout from Ye Fan, the snow was blown away, revealing the glacier. Inside the solid ice, clearly visible and transparent, was a colossal finger, several yards long, bloody and severed.
"What kind of race is this?" they all exclaimed, showing surprise. Judging by their estimates, this object was at least hundreds of thousands of years old. But the creature it belonged to was simply too enormous.
"Ancient Giants!" Ye Fan recalled some ancient texts that mentioned a race living on this ice plain whose bodies could reach over a hundred yards tall.
*Boom! Boom!...* From afar, a tremendous sound echoed. Glaciers were cracking, and massive fissures appeared, extending towards their location.
"A gigantic ape, towering into the clouds!" Li Tian exclaimed. At the edge of the sky, a massive figure was moving. It stood over a hundred yards tall, carrying a whale salvaged from the icy sea as easily as if it were a small river fish. Its entire body was covered in snow-white fur. Each strand was several yards long, densely covering its form.
"Haven't the Ancient Giants already become extinct? How can there still be one?" Ye Fan was astonished.
These creatures were formidable. They were a unique race, born with knowledge of cultivation methods, absorbing the essence of the sun and moon, giving them an advantage over humans. Their immense size meant the divine power they gathered daily was unimaginable. Ancient texts recorded that the old chieftain of the Ancient Giants once battled several human Saints, sweeping aside all opposition and shaking heaven and earth.
"This one is just average; its internal divine power is limited and not a cause for concern. We just don't know how many of them are here." The ice plain was not as vast and boundless as the Five Great Domains. The group continued towards the very center, encountering several colossal ice palaces along the way, towering into the clouds and even grander than mountains. These were clearly ancient ruins, built by the giants. Immortal divine patterns were carved on them, allowing them to stand firm through the ages. This race was indeed nearly extinct. After traversing more than half the area, they had only encountered two giants.
Finally, they approached the heart of the Arctic. This was a terrifying domain, utterly impenetrable. Various colorful mists permeated the air, and dazzling lights intermingled brilliantly. In the central area, there seemed to be a devil well, unfathomably deep and immeasurably vast. Many chaotic lights revolved around it.
"What is this place? A massive vortex several hundred miles in diameter, seeming to lead straight underground." Ice shards of various colors were splashing. Carrying mysterious power, they emitted dazzling light and vaporous mists into the air.
Could this be the birthplace of the Arctic Immortal Light?
The group stopped, sensing immense danger. The vortex formed by these chaotic lights was terrifying, powerful enough to tear a Saint Lord to shreds.
"The birthplace of the Arctic Immortal Light is truly abnormal. How can anyone enter this? Even a Great Accomplishment King couldn't reach the deepest part!" Li Tian said, unwilling to give up.
"There's someone inside!" Yan Yixi said.
The ice and snow vortex merged with the chaotic lights, forming a devil well that could devour everything. Several tens of miles ahead, there was a gigantic creature.
"It's an old snow ape."
"No, it's an elderly giant, terrifyingly old, so old that its back is completely hunched." This ancient giant was struggling to approach the central birthplace of the immortal light, but it was having great difficulty, and its body bore terrible wounds. Undoubtedly, this ancient giant was very powerful. Otherwise, it would have been impossible for it to even step into the vortex. It emitted terrifying divine power fluctuations, like a raging furnace.
Ye Fan and the others did not take risks. They opened their divine eyes and carefully observed, looking towards the deepest part. In the very center, there was an old woman! All three were greatly astonished, involuntarily recoiling several steps and looking at each other in shock.
In the central area, the lights were even more intense. There was also terrifying Lunar Essence, gushing out like rivers and seas. An ordinary person entering would instantly be pulverized.
"It's her!" Ye Fan immediately recognized her; it was the old woman from six thousand years ago. She was a contemporary of the old madman. Above her head was a pyramid forged from cyan-gold. The sun, moon, and stars revolved around it, casting down a misty cyan aura that enveloped her.
"She disappeared for so many years and actually came here!" Ye Fan clearly remembered that this cyan-gold pyramid had been excavated from an ancient source mine in the Northern Domain. At that time, it had alarmed many important figures, but it was eventually taken by the mysterious old woman. The cyan-gold pyramid, buried underground since ancient times, remained imperishable to this day, truly a legendary Saint artifact.
The old woman sat cross-legged above the devil well, facing the gushing chaotic lights, motionless. She seemed to have entered nirvana there, as if guarding something.
"Unfathomable! She's most likely an ancient Saint, at least with one foot already in that realm," Li Tian said, filled with awe. Seeing her sitting here, guarding the devil well, a little thought revealed that she must be waiting for the immortal light that only ascends once every hundred thousand years. With such a Saint present, others would surely have no hope at all. Judging by the old woman's appearance, she seemed to have been guarding this spot for many years.
"There are many chaotic lights in that massive ice cave, and it seems there are quite a few corpses as well," Yan Yixi said.
"Let me take a look," Ye Fan said, his eyes suddenly glowing, shooting out two beams of divine light hundreds of miles long. This was the Heavenly Eye, which he had only recently achieved initial mastery of. He could only use it for a very brief moment, but that was enough.
Inside the ice cave, it was colorful, with light shimmering like mist, and the cold was bone-piercing. It was enormous, containing hundreds, even thousands, of corpses, most of them frozen and cracked, revolving with the vortex. There were all kinds of attire, mostly belonging to ancient people who had died tens of thousands of years ago.
"Huh!" Ye Fan was suddenly greatly surprised; sealed within a unique block of divine ice was a young man. From a fleeting glance, he looked like Tu Fei. By the time he wanted to focus, that block of divine ice had sunk into the depths of the ice cave and did not resurface. And the power of his Heavenly Eye vanished.
"Could it really be Tu Fei? How did he get sealed in divine ice and fall into this place? Is he alive or dead?" Ye Fan stared blankly, lost in thought.
"No, I have to go in!" No matter what, he had to find out for himself.
"Young Ye, don't take risks. Only Saints can set foot in there. Even with your unparalleled physique, you shouldn't risk it," Li Tian advised. However, Ye Fan's mind was made up. The main purpose of this trip was to find Tu Fei. Now that he had vaguely glimpsed him, how could he give up?
*Boom!* Ye Fan felt as if he had plunged into a terrifying black hole. Various destructive forces assailed him, and even his powerful physique felt intense pain. But he did not stop, advancing step by step. He left imprints in the void, passed through various clouds of mist, and approached the place of death.
"This is incredible! His Sacred Body's physique is terrifying, even enough to scare a King. He's surpassed that ancient giant, having pushed seventy to eighty miles in." After advancing a hundred miles, Ye Fan could no longer endure it. His body developed streaks of blood. Even his unparalleled physique couldn't withstand the world-grinding power.
"Saints, halt!" Ahead, a stone tablet revolved with the vortex. On it, several ancient characters were clearly engraved, a shocking sight. Ye Fan felt it; ahead, an even more terrifying aura permeated the air, as if it could shatter all heavens. At this point, even if he brought out his Violet-Gold Hammer, he couldn't withstand the force and found it impossible to advance even an inch. He strongly suspected that if he took another step, he would be crushed into a pulp.
"Brother Ye, stop quickly! The path you've traveled has already surpassed that of a Great Accomplishment King. Don't take any more risks," Yan Yixi transmitted his voice from behind.
Ye Fan frowned as he gazed ahead. He truly had no way to pass. Only those who had at least one foot in the Saint realm would be able to venture further.
"Senior, do you still remember me? We met twice before," Ye Fan called out loudly. However, the old woman in the depths of the vortex showed no reaction at all. She seemed as if she had already entered nirvana decades ago. This startled Ye Fan. It seemed that Saints often appeared this way before they "transformed into Dao." Could she truly be about to perish here?
"Now, the Ancestral Kings of the Myriad Ancient Races are about to emerge! The old madman died in battle outside this domain, his blood staining the sky! Only you are left to turn the tide for the human race!" Ye Fan shouted again.
Yet, the old woman still showed no reaction. She seemed completely devoid of life, as still as a rock.
