It was a piece of decrepit copper, thin as paper, mottled with green rust, and covered in densely packed, minuscule inscriptions. It emanated a mysterious aura, like the very traces of the Great Dao.
Duan De's eyes instantly gleamed with a terrifying light. He lunged forward like a hungry wolf, attempting to seize the decaying copper.
"Bang!"
Ye Fan and the Barbarian struck almost simultaneously. At such close quarters, their bodies collided with a resounding thud, causing the entire Crow's Nest to tremble violently.
Duan De grunted, stumbling back. Blood gushed from his hands; the webbing between the thumb and forefinger of both hands had been torn open, and bright red blood welled up and flowed out.
In this world, few could rival Ye Fan and the Barbarian in terms of physical strength. In such a close-quarters confrontation, even the emperors of divine dynasties would find themselves at a disadvantage.
The fact that Duan De's hands were only bleeding and not pulverized was testament to his formidable and terrifying strength; his physical body was remarkably resilient.
"What do you mean by that?" Dongfang Ye glared at Duan De, simultaneously handing the ancient copper piece to Ye Fan.
"I just wanted to take a look," Duan De said, ignoring his injuries. His expression was incredibly agitated, and he still pushed forward desperately.
He stared fixedly at the old copper piece, his gaze profound, as if trying to penetrate its very essence, almost immersing his mind entirely within it.
Others might not have known, but Ye Fan clearly understood. Years ago, before the Demon Emperor's Tomb in the Eastern Wasteland, the supreme human treasure, a green copper block, had emerged, seemingly ordinary. Duan De had missed his chance to acquire it, and it had become a lasting source of regret for him.
Now, Fatso Duan's intense focus on the green copper piece surely meant he was recalling many things, which was why he was so desperately trying to snatch it for a thorough examination.
At the same time, Ye Fan's heart stirred. Could it be that this old copper piece was truly related to the green copper block within him?
He held it in his hand, examining it carefully, while the Barbarian, holding his wolf-tooth club, stood guard in front, watching Duan De vigilantly.
"This is..." Ye Fan's expression changed, a look of great surprise on his face. He frowned, staring at the densely packed, minuscule characters.
"What did you make of it? Let me take a look!" Duan De's breathing grew rapid.
"What's written on it?" The Old Blind Man also came closer, very intrigued, staring intently at the green copper piece.
Jue Youqing also stepped forward, her beautiful eyes gleaming with divine light as she gazed at the ancient, rust-covered copper piece, a look of confusion and perplexity on her face.
"I don't recognize a single character," Ye Fan said. Everyone was waiting for him to elaborate, but that was all he said.
"Let me see it!" The Old Blind Man and Duan De simultaneously reached out. However, Dongfang Ye promptly blocked them with his large club.
"Unless you are Primeval creatures, you couldn't possibly recognize these. This is the most ancient divine script," Ye Fan said, shaking his head.
By now, he was certain that this copper piece had no connection to the green copper within him, as there were no unusual energy fluctuations between them.
Furthermore, he felt a fiery heat emanating from this green copper, an inexplicable divine aura of the Great Dao, which was vastly different from the green copper inside him.
"This is..." At this moment, Dongfang Ye no longer blocked them. They all gathered around to examine the copper piece together, exchanging bewildered glances.
These were Primeval divine scripts, a common language shared by tens of thousands of ancient races. It was said they were created by ancient gods, making them the most ancient and universally understood characters across all races.
Duan De finally had the chance to touch the copper piece. He murmured, "It's not green copper..."
He seemed somewhat distracted, then, filled with sorrow and indignation, he exclaimed, "There was once a supreme treasure of the mortal world right before me, and I bloody... alas!"
"This fatso has gone mad!" the Barbarian scoffed.
Ye Fan grumbled inwardly, this persistent fatso still couldn't let it go. It seemed missing out on the green copper block back then had left quite an impact on him.
At this moment, the Old Blind Man's eyes were wide open. Duan De had stopped trying to snatch it, but now the Old Blind Man wanted to make a move. Ye Fan cautiously stepped back, refusing to let him see.
"I just want a quick look; I won't snatch it. Oh, by the way, why do you look familiar? Are you a client of mine? I sold you a map of the Immortal Burial Ground, didn't I?"
Ye Fan rolled his eyes. "You old swindler," he said, "you claimed it was a unique copy, but you ended up printing over a thousand! How many people have you scammed?"
"Who scammed anyone? It's the real deal, or how else would you have found this place?" The Old Blind Man drawled, feigning innocence, as if he were anything but a crooked merchant.
The others were speechless. He was responsible for selling every Immortal Burial Ground map on the market. It was safe to say that, apart from a few major powers, almost everyone who had come here was his client.
Jue Youqing suddenly spoke. "Things from before the Primeval era, preserved to this day in an imperishable state, must be inscribed with supreme runes. Otherwise, even a peerless treasure would have long since returned to dust."
"This is Immortal Tear Green Gold!" Duan De exclaimed, finally comprehending. He stretched out his chubby hands, eager to snatch it again, and the Old Blind Man followed suit.
Ye Fan was speechless. These two were just like the Black Emperor, always wanting to pocket any treasure they saw.
"This truly is a piece of Immortal Tear Green Gold, the same divine material as the Immortal Tear Pagoda left by the Western Empress! And it's inscribed with supreme divine patterns!"
They finally confirmed that this seemingly worthless piece of copper was, in fact, extraordinary, far from the humble appearance it presented.
"Damn it, what an extravagant wastrel! Using Immortal Tear Green Gold to forge a single page of a book—how could anyone else possibly compare? Even Great Emperors might not be able to gather enough sacred materials to refine their own ultimate holy weapons!" Duan De exclaimed.
"This is far too extravagant! This is the legendary Immortal Tear Green Gold! In this era, only the Jade Lake possesses a piece, which was used to forge the Western Empress Pagoda. Another piece is simply nowhere to be found." The Old Blind Man, too, felt a pang of regret.
Nevertheless, despite their laments, they continuously attempted to piece together and silently memorize the ancient divine characters inscribed on this sheet.
There was no doubt now; everyone knew that any characters inscribed on Immortal Tear Green Gold, used as mere paper, must be priceless. These characters were absolutely extraordinary!
"Ow!"
"Damn it,"
Duan De and the Old Blind Man cursed in unison, feeling a sharp pain in their heads. They stumbled back, both looking horrified.
"This Immortal Tear Green Gold paper indeed contains supreme divine patterns," they both said. "It's incredibly difficult to memorize these ancient characters using divine sense."
Ye Fan stared at it for a long time, unable to recognize a single character. Despite knowing it was an invaluable immortal treasure, he couldn't read it and was left frustrated and helpless.
"In the Western Desert, on Mount Sumeru, there are those who recognize the Primeval divine script," Jue Youqing said. Her voice was calm and slightly magnetic, making it pleasant to hear.
Mount Sumeru, transcendent and profoundly mysterious, was believed by many to still harbor a living ancient Buddha, and no one dared to trespass there.
"If the opportunity arises, I will certainly go to Mount Sumeru for guidance," Ye Fan said. However, at present, he couldn't go for anything.
Shi Bian Cheni had retreated from the Western Desert and become a forbidden figure. Ye Fan himself hailed from the other side of the starry sky, and if the people of Mount Sumeru were to discover his origins, there was no telling what might happen.
"Later, we'll just kidnap a Primeval creature and make them read it aloud," Dongfang Ye said, displaying his fierce nature by treating powerful Primeval races as mere livestock.
Ye Fan found this piece of green copper exceptionally rare and valuable, making him hesitant to accept it. "This is too precious," he said.
"An ancient Saint, having merged with the Dao, left behind his sole sacred bone. It was refined a hundred times yet remained indestructible, essentially embodying all his profound mysteries—a peerless divine artifact. You didn't hesitate to directly hand it to me, so you should certainly accept this green copper piece as well," Dongfang Ye said.
Ultimately, both men put away their respective items, feeling content and incredibly excited.
"This wolf-tooth club will undoubtedly revert to a Saint's weapon in the future, and it will be incredibly powerful, considering it has fused with the complete essence of a Saint!" Duan De muttered.
"The Immortal Tear Green Gold paper is full of uncertainties, but perhaps in the future, an immortal scripture can be translated from it!" the Old Blind Man mumbled, clutching the divine egg.
The five swiftly departed the Crow's Nest, wary of encountering an adult Golden Crow, and reappeared in a different mountain range.
"Look, a puddle... it's divine source liquid!" Duan De exclaimed, immediately pouncing towards it. This fatso, it had to be said, was incredibly lucky.
This time, he discovered a puddle approximately a foot square, again formed by divine source liquid. It emitted brilliant divine light, illuminating the surrounding ancient trees so that they gleamed verdant like jade.
"So much divine source liquid! Enough to coat myself entirely. I think it could seal me away for tens of thousands of years. If I sold it to those Holy Lands, I could absolutely trade it for a King's divine weapon!"
The Old Blind Man's eyes gleamed with envy. "Don't you understand tombology?" he urged. "Quickly find out where that deity is buried and dig up the coffin. Otherwise, those emperors and demon lords will get there first again, and we'll end up with nothing."
Duan De calmed down, staring blankly at the small world around them. "Why do I feel like every single spot here is suitable for burial?" he mused. "It truly lives up to its name as an immortal burial ground."
This small world wasn't large, but digging through every single mountain would be an utterly exhausting task.
Ye Fan stepped forward, using the Origin Heaven Divine Art to survey the terrain, seek out dragon veins, lock down the surrounding space, and peer into heavenly secrets, all to pinpoint the immortal burial ground.
"This world within a world is even more enigmatic than the Immortal Lying Figure outside!" He frowned, his gaze fixed on a particular mountain ridge among the peaks. "Look," he said, "doesn't that resemble the figure of a fallen immortal?"
Everyone looked closely, and the more they observed, the more striking the resemblance became. Lush bushes and spiritual waterfalls cascaded down, appearing like spilled blood, as if an immortal lay dead, fallen among the mountains.
"It must be buried there!"
With Ye Fan providing the grand layout of heaven and earth, Duan De quickly made his deductions. Now, it was up to him to figure out how to locate the tomb.
The five, invigorated, conjured a river of stars, transforming it into a magnificent waterfall. They used it to leap over the mountains, arriving at the base of the peculiar mountain ridge, where they halted.
"It looks like a celestial scar embedded right here!" The Old Blind Man gasped, inhaling sharply.
The shape of this mountain range was extremely peculiar, resembling a prostrate immortal. Yet, it pulsed with the energy of the Heavenly Dao. As soon as they approached, they felt as though they could hear someone chanting ancient scriptures.
The vast and profound sounds of the Great Dao seemed to descend from the Ninth Heaven, ceaselessly penetrating their ears. Yet, no one could discern the words, which caused considerable agitation.
"It is indeed a place of unfathomable mystery," Jue Youqing remarked, the Bodhi branch in her hand glowing with a green aura.
"While those emperors, demon lords, and divine monks are still searching elsewhere, let's quickly go in and secure the immortal burial for ourselves," Dongfang Ye urged.
Duan De circled the mountain ridge, then ascended a withered cliff. "This mountain must not be confronted head-on," he stated, "otherwise, it will surely bring a fatal disaster. We'll enter from here."
On the withered cliff was an ancient cave, resembling the mouth of the prostrate immortal, leading deep into the earth's ley lines.
As soon as they entered the ancient cave, their expressions changed. Their divine power was heavily suppressed, and an immense, unrelenting pressure emanated from deep within the earth's ley lines, almost forcing them to their knees.
"An aura comparable to ancient Great Emperors, similar to that of a revived ultimate holy weapon!"
Ye Fan had experienced the great battle in the Northern Domain's Divine City, where ultimate holy weapons had been brought forth in an attempt to assassinate Divine King Jiang. He had personally witnessed the awakening of two such ultimate weapons, which had nearly devastated an area spanning tens of thousands of miles.
"There must be the corpse of an ancient deity here!" Fatso Duan, an authority on tombology, made this confident assertion.
"Deities," the Old Blind Man mumbled, "all signs indicate they truly might exist in this world, and we are about to witness one!"
A divine presence had already manifested; it would be inexplicable if no deity were buried here. Everyone was incredibly excited, perhaps on the verge of witnessing a true miracle!
